ஆதியாகமம் 35
1 ௧ தேவன் யாக்கோபை நோக்கி: “நீ எழுந்து பெத்தேலுக்குப் போய், அங்கே குடியிருந்து, நீ உன் சகோதரனாகிய ஏசாவின் முகத்திற்கு விலகி ஓடிப்போகிறபோது, உனக்குக் காட்சியளித்த தேவனுக்கு அங்கே ஒரு பலிபீடத்தை உண்டாக்கு” என்றார்.
And God said to Jacob, Arise, go up to Beth-el, and dwell there: and make there an altar to God, who appeared to thee when thou fleddest from the face of Esau thy brother.
2 ௨ அப்பொழுது யாக்கோபு தன் வீட்டாரையும் அவனுடன் இருந்த மற்ற அனைவரையும் நோக்கி: “உங்களிடத்தில் இருக்கிற அந்நிய தெய்வங்களை விலக்கிப்போட்டு, உங்களைச் சுத்தம்செய்துகொண்டு, உங்கள் ஆடைகளை மாற்றுங்கள்”.
Then Jacob said to his household, and to all that [were] with him, Put away the strange gods that [are] among you, and be clean, and change your garments:
3 ௩ நாம் எழுந்து பெத்தேலுக்குப் போவோம் வாருங்கள்; எனக்கு ஆபத்து நேரிட்ட நாளில் என் விண்ணப்பத்திற்கு பதில் கொடுத்து, நான் நடந்த வழியிலே என்னுடன் இருந்த தேவனுக்கு அங்கே ஒரு பலிபீடத்தை உண்டாக்குவேன் என்றான்.
And let us arise, and go up to Beth-el; and I will make there an altar to God, who answered me in the day of my distress, and was with me in the way which I went.
4 ௪ அப்பொழுது அவர்கள் தங்கள் கையில் இருந்த எல்லா அந்நிய தெய்வங்களையும், தங்கள் காதணிகளையும் யாக்கோபிடத்தில் கொடுத்தார்கள்; யாக்கோபு அவைகளை சீகேம் ஊர் அருகே இருந்த ஒரு கர்வாலி மரத்தின்கீழே புதைத்துப்போட்டான்.
And they gave to Jacob all the strange gods which [were] in their hand, and [the] ear-rings which [were] in their ears; and Jacob hid them under the oak which [was] by Shechem.
5 ௫ பின்பு பயணம் புறப்பட்டார்கள்; அவர்களைச் சுற்றிலும் இருந்த பட்டணத்தார்களுக்கு தேவனாலே பயங்கரம் உண்டானதால், அவர்கள் யாக்கோபின் மகன்களைப் பின்தொடரவில்லை.
And they journeyed: and the terror of God was on the cities that [were] round them, and they did not pursue after the sons of Jacob.
6 ௬ யாக்கோபும் அவனுடன் இருந்த எல்லா மக்களும் கானான் தேசத்திலுள்ள பெத்தேல் என்னும் லூஸுக்கு வந்தார்கள்.
So Jacob came to Luz, which [is] in the land of Canaan (that is Beth-el) he and all the people that [were] with him.
7 ௭ அங்கே அவன் ஒரு பலிபீடத்தைக்கட்டி, தன் சகோதரனுடைய முகத்திற்குத் தப்பி ஓடிப்போனபோது, அங்கே தனக்கு தேவன் காட்சியளித்ததால், அந்த இடத்திற்கு ஏல்பெத்தேல் என்று பெயரிட்டான்.
And he erected there an altar, and called the place El-beth-el; because there God appeared to him, when he fled from the face of his brother.
8 ௮ ரெபெக்காளின் தாதியாகிய தெபொராள் இறந்து, பெத்தேலுக்குச் சமீபமாயிருந்த ஒரு கர்வாலி மரத்தின்கீழ் அடக்கம் செய்யப்பட்டாள்; அதற்கு அல்லோன்பாகூத் என்னும் பெயர் உண்டானது.
But Deborah, Rebekah's nurse, died, and she was buried beneath Beth-el, under an oak: and the name of it was called Allon-bachuth.
9 ௯ யாக்கோபு பதான் அராமிலிருந்து வந்தபின்பு தேவன் அவனுக்கு மறுபடியும் காட்சியளித்து, அவனை ஆசீர்வதித்து:
And God appeared to Jacob again when he came out of Padan-aram; and blessed him.
10 ௧0 “இப்பொழுது உன் பெயர் யாக்கோபு, இனி உன் பெயர் யாக்கோபு எனப்படாமல், இஸ்ரவேல் என்று உனக்குப் பெயராகும் என்று சொல்லி, அவனுக்கு இஸ்ரவேல்” என்று பெயரிட்டார்.
And God said to him, Thy name [is] Jacob: thy name shall not be called any more Jacob, but Israel shall be thy name; and he called his name Israel.
11 ௧௧ பின்னும் தேவன் அவனை நோக்கி: “நான் சர்வவல்லமையுள்ள தேவன், நீ பலுகிப் பெருகுவாயாக; ஒரு தேசமும் பற்பல தேசங்களின் மக்களும் உன்னிலிருந்து உண்டாகும்; ராஜாக்களும் உன் சந்ததியில் பிறப்பார்கள்.
And God said to him, I [am] God Almighty: be fruitful and multiply; a nation and a multitude of nations shall spring from thee, and kings shall come out of thy loins.
12 ௧௨ நான் ஆபிரகாமுக்கும் ஈசாக்குக்கும் கொடுத்த தேசத்தை உனக்குக் கொடுப்பேன்; உனக்குப்பின் உன் சந்ததிக்கும் இந்த தேசத்தைக் கொடுப்பேன்” என்று சொல்லி,
And the land which I gave to Abraham and Isaac, to thee I will give it, and to thy seed after thee will I give the land.
And God went up from him, in the place where he talked with him.
14 ௧௪ அப்பொழுது யாக்கோபு தன்னோடு அவர் பேசின இடத்திலே ஒரு கல்தூணை நிறுத்தி, அதின்மேல் பானபலியை ஊற்றி, எண்ணையையும் ஊற்றினான்.
And Jacob set up a pillar in the place where he talked with him, [even] a pillar of stone: and he poured a drink-offering thereon, and he poured oil thereon.
And Jacob called the name of the place where God spoke with him, Beth-el.
16 ௧௬ பின்பு, பெத்தேலை விட்டுப் பயணம் புறப்பட்டார்கள். எப்பிராத்தாவுக்கு வர இன்னும் கொஞ்சம் தூரமிருக்கும்போது, ராகேல் பிள்ளைபெற்றாள்; பிரசவத்தில் அவளுக்குக் கடும்வேதனை உண்டானது.
And they journeyed from Beth-el; and there was but a little way to come to Ephrath: and Rachel travailed, and she had hard labor.
And it came to pass when she was in hard labor, that the midwife said to her, Fear not; thou shalt have this son also.
18 ௧௮ மரணகாலத்தில் அவளுடைய உயிர் பிரியும்போது, அவள் அவனுக்கு பெனொனி என்று பெயரிட்டாள்; அவனுடைய தகப்பனோ, அவனுக்கு பென்யமீன் என்று பெயரிட்டான்.
And it came to pass as her soul was in departing (for she died) that she called his name Ben-oni: but his father called him Benjamin.
And Rachel died, and was buried in the way to Ephrath, which [is] Beth-lehem.
20 ௨0 அவளுடைய கல்லறையின்மேல் யாக்கோபு ஒரு தூணை நிறுத்தினான்; அதுவே இந்த நாள்வரைக்கும் இருக்கிற ராகேலுடைய கல்லறையின் தூண்.
And Jacob set a pillar on her grave: that [is] the pillar of Rachel's grave to this day.
And Israel journeyed, and spread his tent beyond the tower of Edar.
22 ௨௨ இஸ்ரவேல் அந்தத் தேசத்தில் தங்கிக் குடியிருக்கும்போது, ரூபன் போய், தன் தகப்பனுடைய மறுமனையாட்டியாகிய பில்காளோடு உறவுகொண்டான்; அதை இஸ்ரவேல் கேள்விப்பட்டான்.
And it came to pass, when Israel dwelt in that land, that Reuben went and lay with Bilhah his father's concubine: and Israel heard [it]. Now the sons of Jacob were twelve:
23 ௨௩ யாக்கோபின் மகன்கள் பன்னிரண்டுபேர். யாக்கோபின் மூத்தமகனாகிய ரூபன், சிமியோன், லேவி, யூதா, இசக்கார், செபுலோன் என்பவர்கள் லேயாள் பெற்ற மகன்கள்.
The sons of Leah; Reuben, Jacob's first-born, and Simeon, and Levi, and Judah, and Issachar, and Zebulun:
The sons of Rachel; Joseph, and Benjamin:
And the sons of Bilhah, Rachel's handmaid; Dan, and Naphtali:
26 ௨௬ காத், ஆசேர் என்பவர்கள் லேயாளின் பணிவிடைக்காரியாகிய சில்பாள் பெற்ற மகன்கள்; இவர்களே யாக்கோபுக்குப் பதான் அராமிலே பிறந்த மகன்கள்.
And the sons of Zilpah, Leah's handmaid; Gad, and Asher. These [are] the sons of Jacob, who were born to him in Padan-aram.
27 ௨௭ பின்பு, யாக்கோபு அர்பாவின் ஊராகிய மம்ரேக்கு தன் தகப்பனாகிய ஈசாக்கினிடத்தில் வந்தான்; அது ஆபிரகாமும் ஈசாக்கும் தங்கியிருந்த எபிரோன் என்னும் ஊர்.
And Jacob came to Isaac his father to Mamre, to the city of Arbah (which [is] Hebron) where Abraham and Isaac sojourned.
And the days of Isaac were a hundred and eighty years.
29 ௨௯ உயிர்பிரிந்து இறந்து, தன் ஜனத்தாரோடு சேர்க்கப்பட்டான். அவனுடைய மகன்களாகிய ஏசாவும் யாக்கோபும் அவனை அடக்கம்செய்தார்கள்.
And Isaac expired and died, and was gathered to his people, [being] old and full of days; and his sons Esau and Jacob buried him.
