ஆதியாகமம் 15
1 ௧ இந்தக் காரியங்கள் நடந்தபின்பு, யெகோவாவுடைய வார்த்தை ஆபிராமுக்குத் தரிசனத்திலே உண்டாகி, அவர்: “ஆபிராமே, நீ பயப்படாதே; நான் உனக்குக் கேடகமும், உனக்கு மகா பெரிய பலனுமாக இருக்கிறேன்” என்றார்.
After these things the word of Jehovah came to Abram in a vision, saying, Fear not, Abram; I am thy shield, thy exceeding great reward.
2 ௨ அதற்கு ஆபிராம்: “யெகோவா ஆண்டவரே, அடியேனுக்கு என்ன தருவீர்? நான் குழந்தையில்லாமல் இருக்கிறேனே; தமஸ்கு ஊரைச் சேர்ந்த இந்த எலியேசர் என் வீட்டைப் பராமரிக்கிறவனாக இருக்கிறானே” என்றான்.
And Abram said, Lord Jehovah, what wilt thou give me? seeing I go childless, and the steward of my house is this Eliezer of Damascus.
3 ௩ பின்னும் ஆபிராம்: “தேவரீர் எனக்கு வாரிசு அருளவில்லை; இதோ என் வீட்டிலே பிறந்த பிள்ளை எனக்கு வாரிசாக இருக்கிறான்” என்றான்.
And Abram said, Lo, to me thou hast given no seed, and behold, a son of my house will be mine heir.
4 ௪ அப்பொழுது யெகோவாவுடைய வார்த்தை அவனுக்கு உண்டாகி: “இவன் உனக்கு வாரிசு அல்ல, உனக்குப் பிறப்பவனே உனக்கு வாரிசு ஆவான்” என்று சொல்லி,
And behold, the word of Jehovah [came] to him, saying, This shall not be thine heir, but he that will come forth out of thy body shall be thine heir.
5 ௫ அவர் அவனை வெளியே அழைத்து: “நீ வானத்தை அண்ணாந்துபார், நட்சத்திரங்களை உன்னாலே எண்ணமுடியுமானால், அவைகளை எண்ணு என்று சொல்லி; பின்பு அவனை நோக்கி: “உன் சந்ததி இந்தவிதமாக இருக்கும்” என்றார்.
And he led him out, and said, Look now toward the heavens, and number the stars, if thou be able to number them. And he said to him, So shall thy seed be!
And he believed Jehovah; and he reckoned it to him [as] righteousness.
7 ௭ பின்னும் அவர் அவனை நோக்கி: “இந்த தேசத்தை உனக்குச் சொந்தமாகக் கொடுப்பதற்காக, உன்னை ஊர் என்கிற கல்தேயர்களுடைய பட்டணத்திலிருந்து அழைத்துவந்த யெகோவா நானே” என்றார்.
And he said to him, I am Jehovah who brought thee out of Ur of the Chaldeans, to give thee this land to possess it.
And he said, Lord Jehovah, how shall I know that I shall possess it?
9 ௯ அதற்கு அவர்: “மூன்றுவயது இளங்கன்றையும், மூன்றுவயது வெள்ளாட்டையும், மூன்றுவயது ஆட்டுக்கடாவையும், ஒரு காட்டுப்புறாவையும், ஒரு புறாக்குஞ்சையும், என்னிடத்தில் கொண்டுவா” என்றார்.
And he said to him, Take me a heifer of three years old, and a she-goat of three years old, and a ram of three years old, and a turtle-dove, and a young pigeon.
10 ௧0 அவன் அவைகள் எல்லாவற்றையும் அவரிடத்தில் கொண்டுவந்து, அவைகளை நடுவாகத் துண்டித்து, இருபகுதிகளையும் ஒன்றுக்கொன்று எதிராக வைத்தான்; பறவைகளை அவன் துண்டிக்கவில்லை.
And he took all these, and divided them in the midst, and laid the half of each opposite its fellow; but the birds he did not divide.
And the birds of prey came down on the carcases; and Abram scared them away.
12 ௧௨ சூரியன் மறையும்போது, ஆபிராமுக்கு ஆழ்ந்த தூக்கம் வந்தது; பயமுண்டாக்கும் காரிருள் அவனை மூடிக்கொண்டது.
And as the sun was just going down, a deep sleep fell upon Abram; and behold, a horror, a great darkness, fell upon him.
13 ௧௩ அப்பொழுது அவர் ஆபிராமை நோக்கி: உன் சந்ததியினர் தங்களுடையதல்லாத அந்நிய தேசத்திலே பரதேசிகளாக இருந்து, அந்த தேசத்தார்களுக்கு அடிமைகளாக இருப்பார்கள் என்றும், அவர்களால் 400 வருடங்கள் உபத்திரவப்படுவார்கள் என்றும், நீ நிச்சயமாக அறியவேண்டும்.
And he said to Abram, Know assuredly that thy seed will be a sojourner in a land [that is] not theirs, and they shall serve them; and they shall afflict them four hundred years.
14 ௧௪ இவர்கள் அடிமையாக இருக்கும் தேசத்தை நான் நியாயந்தீர்ப்பேன்; பின்பு மிகுந்த பொருட்களுடனே புறப்பட்டு வருவார்கள்.
But also that nation which they shall serve I will judge; and afterwards they shall come out with great property.
And thou shalt go to thy fathers in peace; thou shalt be buried in a good old age.
16 ௧௬ நான்காம் தலை முறையிலே அவர்கள் இந்த இடத்திற்குத் திரும்ப வருவார்கள்; ஏனென்றால் எமோரியர்களுடைய அக்கிரமம் இன்னும் நிறைவாகவில்லை” என்றார்.
And [in the] fourth generation they shall come hither again; for the iniquity of the Amorites is not yet full.
17 ௧௭ சூரியன் மறைந்து காரிருள் உண்டானபின்பு, இதோ, புகைகிற சூளையும், அந்தத் துண்டுகளின் நடுவே கடந்துபோகிற அக்கினிஜூவாலையும் தோன்றின.
And it came to pass when the sun had gone down, and it was dark, that behold, there was a smoking furnace, and a flame of fire which passed between those pieces.
18 ௧௮ அந்த நாளிலே யெகோவா ஆபிராமோடு உடன்படிக்கைசெய்து, “எகிப்தின் நதிதுவங்கி ஐப்பிராத்து நதி என்னும் பெரிய நதிவரை உள்ளதும்,
On the same day Jehovah made a covenant with Abram, saying, Unto thy seed I give this land, from the river of Egypt to the great river, the river Euphrates;
the Kenites, and the Kenizzites, and the Kadmonites,
and the Hittites, and the Perizzites, and the Rephaim,
21 ௨௧ எமோரியரும், கானானியரும், கிர்காசியரும், எபூசியரும் என்பவர்கள் இருக்கிறதுமான இந்த தேசத்தை உன்னுடைய சந்ததிக்குக் கொடுத்தேன்” என்றார்.
and the Amorites, and the Canaanites, and the Girgashites, and the Jebusites.
