எஸ்றா 4
1 ௧ சிறையிருப்பிலிருந்து வந்த மக்கள் இஸ்ரவேலின் தேவனாகிய யெகோவாவுக்கு ஆலயத்தைக் கட்டுகிறார்கள் என்று யூதாவுக்கும் பென்யமீனுக்கும் இருந்த விரோதிகள் கேள்விப்பட்டபோது,
Now news came to the haters of Judah and Benjamin that the people who had come back were building a Temple to the Lord, the God of Israel;
2 ௨ அவர்கள் செருபாபேலிடத்திற்கும் தலைவர்களான பிதாக்களிடத்திற்கும் வந்து: உங்களுடன் நாங்களும் கட்டுவோம்; உங்களைப்போல நாங்களும் உங்கள் தேவனை நாடுவோம்; இந்த இடத்திற்கு எங்களை வரச் செய்த அசீரியாவின் ராஜாவாகிய எசரத்தோன் நாட்கள் முதற்கொண்டு அவருக்கு நாங்களும் பலியிட்டுவருகிறோம் என்று அவர்களிடம் சொன்னார்கள்.
Then they came to Zerubbabel and to the heads of families, and said to them, Let us take part in the building with you; for we are servants of your God, even as you are; and we have been making offerings to him from the days of Esar-haddon, king of Assyria, who put us here.
3 ௩ அதற்கு செருபாபேலும், யெசுவாவும், இஸ்ரவேலில் உள்ள மற்ற தலைவர்களான பிதாக்களும் அவர்களை நோக்கி: எங்கள் தேவனுக்கு ஆலயத்தைக் கட்டுகிறதற்கு உங்களுக்கும் எங்களுக்கும் சம்பந்தமில்லை; பெர்சியாவின் ராஜாவாகிய கோரேஸ் ராஜா எங்களுக்குக் கட்டளையிட்டபடி. நாங்களே இஸ்ரவேலின் தேவனாகிய யெகோவாவுக்கு அதைக் கட்டுவோம் என்றார்கள்.
But Zerubbabel and Jeshua and the rest of the heads of families in Israel said to them, You have no part with us in the building of a house for our God; we ourselves will do the work together for the Lord, the God of Israel, as Cyrus, king of Persia, has given us orders.
4 ௪ அதனால் அந்த தேசத்து மக்கள் யூதா மக்களின் கைகளைத் தளரச்செய்து, கட்டாமலிருக்க அவர்களை வருத்தப்படுத்தி,
Then the people of the land made the hands of the people of Judah feeble, troubling them with fear in their building;
5 ௫ பெர்சியாவின் ராஜாவாகிய கோரேசின் காலமுழுவதும், தரியு என்னும் பெர்சியா ராஜா அரசாண்ட காலம்வரை, அவர்கள் யோசனையைப் பொய்யாக்க அவர்களுக்கு விரோதமாக ஆலோசனைக்காரர்களுக்கு லஞ்சம் கொடுத்தார்கள்.
And they gave payment to men who made designs against them and kept them from effecting their purpose, all through the time of Cyrus, king of Persia, till Darius became king.
6 ௬ அகாஸ்வேரு அரசாளுகிறபோது, அவனுடைய அரசாட்சியின் ஆரம்பத்திலே, யூதாவிலும் எருசலேமிலும் குடியிருக்கிறவர்களுக்கு விரோதமாகக் குற்ற மனுவை எழுதினார்கள்.
And in the time of Ahasuerus, when he first became king, they put on record a statement against the people of Judah and Jerusalem.
7 ௭ அர்தசஷ்டாவின் நாட்களிலும், பிஸ்லாமும், மித்திரேதாத்தும், தாபெயேலும், மற்றுமுள்ள அவர்களோடு உள்ளவர்களும், பெர்சியா ராஜாவான அர்தசஷ்டாவுக்கு ஒரு மனு எழுதினார்கள்; அந்த மனு சீரிய எழுத்திலும் சீரிய மொழியிலும் எழுதப்பட்டிருந்தது.
And in the time of Artaxerxes, Bishlam, Mithredath, Tabeel, and the rest of his friends, sent a letter to Artaxerxes, king of Persia, writing it in the Aramaean writing and language.
8 ௮ ஆலோசனைத் தலைவனாகிய ரெகூமும் பதிவாளனாகிய சிம்சாயியும் எருசலேமுக்கு விரோதமாக அர்தசஷ்டா என்னும் ராஜாவுக்கு எழுதின மனுவிலே கையொப்பம் போட்டவர்கள் யாரென்றால்:
Rehum, the chief ruler, and Shimshai the scribe, sent a letter against Jerusalem, to Artaxerxes the king;
9 ௯ ஆலோசனைத் தலைவனாகிய ரெகூமும், பதிவாளனாகிய சிம்சாயியும், மற்றும் அவர்களைச் சார்ந்த தீனாவியர்கள், அபற்சாத்தியர்கள், தர்பேலியர்கள், அப்பார்சியர்கள், அற்கேவியர்கள், பாபிலோனியர்கள், சூஷங்கியர்கள், தெகாவியர்கள், ஏலாமியரானவர்களும்,
The letter was sent by Rehum, the chief ruler, and Shimshai the scribe and their friends; the Dinaites and the Apharsathchites, the Tarpelites, the Apharsites, the Archevites, the Babylonians, the Shushanchites, the Dehaites, the Elamites,
10 ௧0 பெரியவரும் பேர்பெற்றவருமான அஸ்னாப்பார், அந்த இடங்களிலிருந்து அழைத்துக்கொண்டுவந்து சமாரியாவின் பட்டணத்திலே குடியேறச் செய்த மற்ற மக்களும், நதிக்கு இந்தப் புறத்தில் இருக்கிற மற்ற மக்களுமே.
And the rest of the nations which the great and noble Osnappar took over and put in Samaria and the rest of the country over the river:
11 ௧௧ அவர்கள் அர்தசஷ்டா என்னும் ராஜாவுக்கு அனுப்பின மனுவின் நகலாவது: நதிக்கு இந்தப் புறத்தில் இருக்கிற உமது அடியார் முதலானவர்கள் அறிவிக்கிறது என்னவென்றால்.
This is a copy of the letter which they sent to Artaxerxes the king: Your servants living across the river send these words:
12 ௧௨ உம்மிடத்திலிருந்து எங்களிடத்திற்கு வந்த யூதர்கள் எருசலேமிலே கூடி, கலகமும் பொல்லாப்புமான அந்தப் பட்டணத்திற்கு அஸ்திபாரங்களை இணைத்து, அதின் மதில்களை எழுப்பிக்கட்டுகிறார்கள் என்பது ராஜாவுக்குத் தெரிந்திருப்பதாக.
We give news to the king that the Jews who came from you have come to us at Jerusalem; they are building up again that uncontrolled and evil town; the walls are complete and they are joining up the bases.
13 ௧௩ இப்போதும் இந்தப் பட்டணம் கட்டப்பட்டு, மதில்கள் கட்டி முடிக்கப்பட்டால், அவர்கள் எந்தவொரு வரியையும் கொடுக்கமாட்டார்கள்; அதனால் ராஜாக்களின் வருமானத்திற்கு நஷ்டம் வரும் என்று ராஜாவுக்குத் தெரிந்திருப்பதாக.
The king may be certain that when the building of this town and its walls is complete, they will give no tax or payment in goods or forced payments, and in the end it will be a cause of loss to the kings.
14 ௧௪ இப்போதும், நாங்கள் அரண்மனை உப்பை சாப்பிடுவதால், ராஜாவுக்குக் குறைவு வருவதைப் பார்க்கிறது எங்களுக்கு முடியாத காரியம்; ஆகையால் நாங்கள் இதை அனுப்பி, ராஜாவுக்குத் தெரியப்படுத்துகிறோம்.
Now because we are responsible to the king, and it is not right for us to see the king's honour damaged, we have sent to give the king word of these things,
15 ௧௫ உம்முடைய பிதாக்களின் நடபடி புத்தகங்களில் சோதித்துப்பார்க்கக் கட்டளையிடவேண்டும்; அப்பொழுது இந்தப் பட்டணம் கலகமும், ராஜாக்களுக்கும் தேசத்திற்கும் நஷ்டமும் உண்டாக்குகிற பட்டணம் என்றும், பூர்வகாலமுதல் கலகம் உள்ளதாயிருந்ததால் இந்தப் பட்டணம் அழிக்கப்பட்டது என்றும், அந்த நடபடி புத்ததகங்களில் கண்டறியலாம்.
So that search may be made in the book of the records of your fathers: and you will see in the book of the records that this town has been uncontrolled, and a cause of trouble to kings and countries, and that there were outbursts against authority there in the past: for which reason the town was made waste.
16 ௧௬ ஆகையால் இந்தப் பட்டணம் கட்டப்பட்டு, இதன் மதில்கள் கட்டி முடிக்கப்பட்டால், நதிக்கு இந்தப்புறத்திலே உமக்கு ஒன்றும் இல்லாமல்போகும் என்பதை ராஜாவுக்கு தெரியப்படுத்துகிறோம் என்று எழுதி அனுப்பினார்கள்.
We give you word, that if the building of this town and its walls is made complete, there will be an end of your power in the country across the river.
17 ௧௭ அப்பொழுது ராஜா ஆலோசனைத் தலைவனாகிய ரெகூமுக்கும், பதிவாளனாகிய சிம்சாயிக்கும், சமாரியாவில் குடியிருக்கிற அவர்களைச் சார்ந்தவர்களுக்கும், நதிக்கு மறுபுறத்தில் இருக்கிற மற்றவர்களுக்கும் எழுதியனுப்பின மறுமொழியாவது: உங்களுக்கு சமாதானம்,
Then the king sent an answer to Rehum, the chief ruler, and Shimshai the scribe, and their friends living in Samaria, and to the rest of those across the river, saying, Peace to you:
And now the sense of the letter which you sent to us has been made clear to me,
19 ௧௯ நம்முடைய கட்டளையினால் சோதித்துப் பார்க்கும்போது, அந்தப் பட்டணம் பூர்வகாலமுதல் ராஜாக்களுக்கு விரோதமாக எழும்பினது என்றும், அதிலே கலகமும் ராஜதுரோகமும் காணப்பட்டது என்றும்,
And I gave orders for a search to be made, and it is certain that in the past this town has made trouble for kings, and that outbursts against authority have taken place there.
20 ௨0 எருசலேமில் வல்லமையுள்ள ராஜாக்கள் இருந்தார்கள் என்றும், அவர்கள் நதிக்கு மறுபுறத்தில் இருக்கிற சகல தேசங்களையும் ஆண்டுவந்தார்கள் என்றும், அனைத்து வரியும் அவர்களுக்குச் செலுத்தப்பட்டது என்றும் தெரியவருகிறது.
Further, there have been great kings in Jerusalem, ruling over all the country across the river, to whom they gave taxes and payments in goods and forced payments.
21 ௨௧ இப்பொழுதும் நம்மிடத்திலிருந்து மறுஉத்திரவு வரும்வரை அந்த மனிதர்கள் அந்தப் பட்டணத்தைக் கட்டாமல் நிறுத்திவிடக் கட்டளையிடுங்கள்.
Give an order now, that these men are to do nothing more, and that the building of the town is to be stopped, till I give an order.
22 ௨௨ இதிலே நீங்கள் தவறாதபடி எச்சரிக்கையாக இருங்கள்; ராஜாக்களுக்கு நஷ்டமும் சேதமும் ஏன் வரவேண்டும் என்று எழுதி அனுப்பினான்.
Be certain to do this with all care: do not let trouble be increased to the king's damage.
23 ௨௩ ராஜாவாகிய அர்தசஷ்டாவுடைய கட்டளையின் நகல் ரெகூமுக்கும், பதிவாளனாகிய சிம்சாயிக்கும், அவர்களைச் சார்ந்தவர்களுக்கு முன்பாக வாசிக்கப்பட்டபோது, அவர்கள் விரைவாக எருசலேமிலிருக்கிற யூதரிடத்திற்குப்போய், நிர்பந்தம் செய்தும் வலுக்கட்டாயமாகவும் அவர்களை வேலைசெய்யவிடாமல் நிறுத்திப்போட்டார்கள்.
Then, after reading the king's letter, Rehum and Shimshai the scribe and their friends went quickly to Jerusalem, to the Jews, and had them stopped by force.
24 ௨௪ அப்பொழுது எருசலேமிலுள்ள தேவனுடைய ஆலயத்தின் வேலை தடைபட்டு, பெர்சியாவின் ராஜாவாகிய தரியு அரசாட்சி செய்த இரண்டாம் வருடம்வரை நிறுத்தப்பட்டிருந்தது.
So the work of the house of God at Jerusalem came to an end; so it was stopped, till the second year of the rule of Darius, king of Persia.
