பிரசங்கி 8
1 ௧ ஞானம் உள்ளவனுக்கு ஒப்பானவன் யார்? காரியத்தின் சம்பவத்தை அறிந்தவன் யார்? மனிதனுடைய ஞானம் அவனுடைய முகத்தைப் பிரகாசிக்கச்செய்யும், அவனுடைய முகத்தின் கோபம் மாறும்.
Who can compare to the truly wise? Who knows how to interpret things? If you have wisdom your face lights up, and your stern look is softened.
2 ௨ ராஜாவின் கட்டளையைக் கைக்கொண்டு நட என்று நான் உனக்கு எச்சரிக்கிறேன்; நீ தேவனுக்கு செய்த ஆணையின்படி இதைச் செய்.
My advice is to do what the king says, since that's what you promised God.
3 ௩ நீ அவனுடைய சமுகத்தைவிட்டு விலக அவசரப்படாதே; பொல்லாத காரியத்திலே பிடிவாதமாக நில்லாதே: அவன் தனக்கு விருப்பமானதெல்லாம் செய்வான்.
Don't be quick to walk out on the king without thinking what you're doing, and don't get involved with those who plot against him, for the king can do what he pleases.
4 ௪ ராஜாவின் வார்த்தை எங்கேயோ அங்கே அதிகாரம் உண்டு; நீர் என்ன செய்கிறீர் என்று அவனுக்குச் சொல்லக்கூடியவன் யார்?
The king's orders have supreme authority—who is going to question him, saying, “What are you doing?”
5 ௫ கற்பனையைக் கைக்கொள்ளுகிறவன் ஒரு தீங்கையும் அறியான்; ஞானியின் இருதயம் காலத்தையும் நியாயத்தையும் அறியும்.
Those who follow his commands will not be involved in doing evil. Wise people think, recognizing there's a right time, and a right way.
For there's a right time and a right way for everything, even when things are going badly for you.
7 ௭ இன்னது நடக்கும் என்று அவன் அறியானே; அது இன்னவிதமாக நடக்கும் என்று அவனுக்கு சொல்லக்கூடியவன் யார்?
No one knows what's going to happen, so who can say what the future holds?
8 ௮ தன் ஆவியை விடாமல் இருக்கிறதற்கு ஆவியின்மேல் ஒரு மனிதனுக்கும் அதிகாரமில்லை; மரணநாளின்மேலும் அவனுக்கு அதிகாரமில்லை; அந்தப் போருக்கு நீங்கிப்போவதுமில்லை; துன்மார்க்கர்களைத் துன்மார்க்கம் விடுவிக்கவுமாட்டாது.
No one can hold onto the breath of life; no one can prevent the day when they die. There's no way of escaping that battle, and the wicked won't be saved by their wickedness!
9 ௯ இவையெல்லாவற்றையும் நான் பார்த்து, சூரியனுக்குக் கீழே செய்யப்படும் எல்லா செயல்களையும் சிந்தித்தேன்; ஒரு மனிதன் தனக்கே கேடுண்டாக வேறொரு மனிதனை ஆளுகிற காலமும் உண்டு.
I examined all these things, and thought about all that happens here on earth, and the damage that's caused when people dominate others.
10 ௧0 பரிசுத்த இடத்திற்குப் போக்குவரவு செய்த துன்மார்க்கர்கள் அடக்கம்செய்யப்பட்டதைக் கண்டேன்; அவர்கள் அப்படிச் செய்துவந்த பட்டணத்திலேயே புகழப்பட்டார்கள்; இதுவும் மாயையே.
Yes, I have seen wicked people buried with great honor. They used to go to the holy place, and were praised in the very city where they did their evil. This is hard to understand!
11 ௧௧ தீயசெயல்களுக்குத்தகுந்த தண்டனைச் சீக்கிரமாக நடவாதபடியால், மனிதர்களின் இருதயம் பொல்லாப்பைச் செய்ய அவர்களுக்குள்ளே துணிகரம் கொண்டிருக்கிறது.
When people are not punished quickly for their crimes they are even more determined to do wrong.
12 ௧௨ பாவி நூறுதரம் பொல்லாப்பைச் செய்து நீடித்து வாழ்ந்தாலும் என்ன? தேவனுக்கு அஞ்சி, அவருக்கு முன்பாகப் பயந்திருப்பவர்களே நன்றாக இருப்பார்கள் என்று அறிந்திருக்கிறேன்.
Even though a sinner may do wrong a hundred times, and live a long life, I'm convinced that those who do what God says will be better off.
13 ௧௩ துன்மார்க்கனோ நன்றாக இருப்பதில்லை; அவன் தேவனுக்கு முன்பாக பயப்படாமல் இருக்கிறபடியால், நிழலைப்போலிருக்கிற அவனுடைய வாழ்நாட்கள் நீடித்திருப்பதுமில்லை.
In fact, the wicked will not live long, passing like a shadow, because they refuse to follow God.
14 ௧௪ பூமியின்மேல் நடக்கிற வேறொரு மாயையான காரியமும் உண்டு; அதாவது, துன்மார்க்கர்களின் செய்கைக்கு வருவதுபோல, நீதிமான்களுக்கும் வரும்; நீதிமான்களின் செய்கைக்கு வருவதுபோல, துன்மார்க்கர்களுக்கும் வரும்; இதுவும் மாயை என்றேன்.
Another thing that is hard to understand is this: good people are treated as the wicked should be, and the wicked are treated as good people should be. As I say, this is difficult to comprehend!
15 ௧௫ ஆகையால் நான் மகிழ்ச்சியைப் புகழ்ந்தேன்; சாப்பிடுவதும் குடிப்பதும் மகிழ்வதுமே தவிர சூரியனுக்குக்கீழே மனிதனுக்கு வேறொரு நன்மையும் இல்லை; சூரியனுக்குக்கீழே தேவன் அவனுக்கு கொடுத்த வாழ்நாளில் அவனுடைய பிரயாசத்தினால் அவனுக்கு நிலைக்கும் பலன் இதுவே.
So I recommend enjoying life. There's nothing better for us here on earth than to eat and drink and be happy. Such an attitude will go with us as we work, and as we live our lives that God gives us here on earth.
16 ௧௬ நான் ஞானத்தை அறியவும், மனிதன் இரவும் பகலும் கண்ணுக்கு தூக்கம் இல்லாமல் பூமியிலே செய்யும் வேலைகளைப் பார்க்கவும் என்னுடைய மனதை செலுத்தினபோது,
When I applied my mind to discovering wisdom and observing everything people do here on earth, I couldn't get any sleep, day or night.
17 ௧௭ தேவன் செய்யும் எல்லா செயல்களையும் நான் கவனித்துப்பார்த்து, சூரியனுக்குக்கீழே செய்யப்படும் செய்கையை மனிதன் கண்டுபிடிக்கமுடியாதென்று கண்டேன். அதை அறியும்படி மனிதன் முயற்சித்தாலும் அறியமாட்டான்; அதை அறியலாம் என்று ஞானி எண்ணினாலும் அவனும் அதை அறிந்துகொள்ளமாட்டான்.
Then I studied everything God does, and I realized that no one can fully understand what happens here. However, hard they try, however wise they claim to be, they can't really comprehend it.
