உபாகமம் 20
1 ௧ “நீ உன் எதிரிகளுக்கு எதிராக போர்செய்யப் புறப்பட்டுப்போகும்போது, குதிரைகளையும், இரதங்களையும், உன்னைவிட பெரிய கூட்டமாகிய மக்களையும் கண்டால், அவர்களுக்குப் பயப்படாதே; உன்னை எகிப்து தேசத்திலிருந்து புறப்படச்செய்த உன் தேவனாகிய யெகோவா உன்னுடன் இருக்கிறார்.
When thou shalt go forth to warre against thine enemies, and shalt see horses and charets, and people moe then thou, be not afrayde of them: for the Lord thy God is with thee, which brought thee out of the land of Egypt.
And when ye are come neere vnto the battel, then the Priest shall come forth to speake vnto the people,
3 ௩ இஸ்ரவேலர்களே, கேளுங்கள்; இன்று உங்கள் எதிரிகளுடன் போர்செய்யப் போகிறீர்கள்; உங்கள் இருதயம் வருந்தவேண்டாம்; நீங்கள் அவர்களைப் பார்த்து பயப்படவும், கலங்கவும், திகைக்கவும் வேண்டாம்.
And shall say vnto them, Heare, O Israel: ye are come this day vnto battell against your enemies: let not your heartes faynt, neither feare, nor be amased, nor adread of them.
4 ௪ உங்களுக்காக உங்கள் எதிரிகளுடன் போர்செய்யவும் உங்களை இரட்சிக்கவும் உங்களுடன்கூடப் போகிறவர் உங்கள் தேவனாகிய யெகோவா என்று சொல்லவேண்டும்.
For ye Lord your God goeth with you, to fight for you against your enemies, and to saue you
5 ௫ அன்றியும் அதிபதிகள் மக்களை நோக்கி: புதுவீட்டைக் கட்டி, அதை அர்ப்பணம் செய்யாதிருக்கிறவன் எவனோ, அவன் தன் வீட்டுக்குத் திரும்பிப்போகக்கடவன்; அவன் போரிலே இறந்தால் வேறொருவன் அதை அர்ப்பணம் செய்யவேண்டியதாகும்.
And let the officers speake vnto the people, saying, What man is there that hath buylt a new house, and hath not dedicate it? let him go and returne to his house, least he dye in the battel, and an other man dedicate it.
6 ௬ திராட்சைத்தோட்டத்தை நாட்டி, அதை அனுபவியாதிருக்கிறவன் எவனோ, அவன் தன் வீட்டுக்குத் திரும்பிப்போகக்கடவன்; அவன் போரிலே இறந்தால் வேறொருவன் அதை அனுபவிக்கவேண்டியதாகும்.
And what man is there that hath planted a vineyarde, and hath not eaten of the fruite? let him go and returne againe vnto his house, least he die in the battel, and another eate the fruite.
7 ௭ ஒரு பெண்ணைத் தனக்கு நிச்சயம் செய்துகொண்டு, அவளைத் திருமணம்செய்யாதிருக்கிறவன் எவனோ, அவன் தன் வீட்டுக்குத் திரும்பிப்போகக்கடவன்; அவன் போரிலே இறந்தால் வேறொருவன் அவளைத் திருமணம்செய்ய வேண்டியதாகும் என்று சொல்லவேண்டும்.
And what man is there that hath betrothed a wife, and hath not taken her? let him go and returne againe vnto his house, lest he die in the battell, and another man take her.
8 ௮ பின்னும் அதிபதிகள் மக்களுடனே பேசி: பயந்தவனும் மிகவும் பெலவீனமாயிருக்கிறவன் எவனோ, அவன் தன் சகோதரர்களின் இருதயத்தைத் தன் இருதயத்தைப்போலக் கரைந்துபோகச்செய்யாதபடி, தன் வீட்டுக்குத் திரும்பிப் போகக்கடவன் என்று சொல்லவேண்டும்.
And let the officers speake further vnto the people, and say, Whosoeuer is afrayde and faynt hearted, let him go and returne vnto his house, least his brethrens heart faynt like his heart.
And after that the officers haue made an ende of speaking vnto the people, they shall make captaines of the armie to gouerne the people.
10 ௧0 “நீ ஒரு பட்டணத்தின்மேல் போர்செய்ய நெருங்கும்போது, அந்தப் பட்டணத்தாருக்குச் சமாதானம் கூறுவாயாக.
When thou commest neere vnto a citie to fight against it, thou shalt offer it peace.
11 ௧௧ அவர்கள் உனக்குச் சமாதானமான உத்திரவு கொடுத்து, வாசலைத் திறந்தால், அதிலுள்ள மக்கள் எல்லோரும் உனக்கு வரி கட்டுகிறவர்களாகி, உனக்கு வேலை செய்யக்கடவர்கள்.
And if it answere thee againe peaceably, and open vnto thee, then let all the people that is founde therein, be tributaries vnto thee, and serue thee.
But if it will make no peace with thee, but make war against thee, then shalt thou besiege it.
13 ௧௩ உன் தேவனாகிய யெகோவா அதை உன் கையில் ஒப்புக்கொடுக்கும்போது, அதிலுள்ள ஆண்கள் எல்லோரையும் பட்டயத்தால் வெட்டி,
And the Lord thy God shall deliuer it into thine handes, and thou shalt smite all the males thereof with the edge of the sworde.
14 ௧௪ பெண்களையும், குழந்தைகளையும் மிருகஜீவன்களையும் மாத்திரம் உயிரோடே வைத்து, பட்டணத்திலுள்ள எல்லாவற்றையும் கொள்ளையிட்டு, உன் தேவனாகிய யெகோவா உனக்கு ஒப்புக்கொடுத்த உன் எதிரிகளின் கொள்ளைப்பொருளை அனுபவிப்பாயாக.
Onely the women, and the children, and the cattel, and all that is in the citie, euen all the spoyle thereof shalt thou take vnto thy selfe, and shalt eate the spoyle of thine enemies, which the Lord thy God hath giuen thee.
15 ௧௫ இந்த மக்களைச்சேர்ந்த பட்டணங்களாயிராமல், உனக்கு வெகுதூரத்திலிருக்கிற சகல பட்டணங்களுக்கும் இப்படியே செய்வாயாக.
Thus shalt thou do vnto all ye cities, which are a great way off from thee, which are not of the cities of these nations here.
16 ௧௬ உன் தேவனாகிய யெகோவா உனக்குச் சொந்தமாகக் கொடுக்கிற ஏத்தியர்கள், எமோரியர்கள், கானானியர்கள், பெரிசியர்கள், ஏவியர்கள், எபூசியர்கள் என்னும் மக்களின் பட்டணங்களிலேமாத்திரம் உயிருள்ளதொன்றையும் உயிரோடே வைக்காமல்,
But of the cities of this people, which the Lord thy God shall giue thee to inherite, thou shalt saue no person aliue,
But shalt vtterly destroy them: to wit, the Hittites, and the Amorites, the Canaanites, and the Perizzites, the Hiuites, and the Iebusites, as the Lord thy God hath commanded thee,
18 ௧௮ அவர்கள் தங்கள் தெய்வங்களுக்குச் செய்கிற தங்களுடைய சகல அருவருப்புகளின்படியே நீங்களும் செய்ய உங்களுக்குக் கற்றுக்கொடாமலும், நீங்கள் உங்கள் தேவனாகிய யெகோவாவுக்கு விரோதமாகப் பாவம்செய்யாமலும் இருக்க இப்படிச் செய்யவேண்டும்.
That they teache you not to doe after all their abominations, which they haue done vnto their gods, and so ye should sinne against the Lord your God.
19 ௧௯ “நீ ஒரு பட்டணத்தின்மேல் போர்செய்து அதைப் பிடிக்க அநேகநாட்கள் முற்றுகையிட்டிருக்கும்போது, நீ கோடரியை ஓங்கி, அதின் மரங்களை வெட்டிச் சேதம் செய்யாதே அவைகளின் கனியை நீ சாப்பிடலாமே; ஆகையால் உனக்குக் கோட்டைமதில் அமைக்க உதவும் என்று அவைகளை வெட்டாதே; வெளியின் மரங்கள் மனிதனுடைய உயிர்வாழ்வதற்கு ஏற்றவைகள்.
When thou hast besieged a citie long time, and made warre against it to take it, destroy not the trees therof, by smiting an axe into them: for thou mayest eate of them: therfore thou shalt not cut them downe to further thee in the siege, (for the tree of the field is mans life)
20 ௨0 சாப்பிடுவதற்கேற்ற கனிகொடாத மரம் என்று நீ அறிந்திருக்கிற மரங்களை மாத்திரம் வெட்டி அழித்து, உன்னோடு போர்செய்கிற பட்டணம் பிடிபடும்வரை அதற்கு எதிராகக் கோட்டைமதில் போடலாம்.
Onely those trees, which thou knowest are not for meate, those shalt thou destroy and cut downe, and make fortes against the citie that maketh warre with thee, vntil thou subdue it.
