அப்போஸ்தலர் 9
1 ௧ சவுல் என்பவன் இன்னும் கர்த்தருடைய சீடர்களை பயமுறுத்திக் கொலைசெய்யும்படி பிரதான ஆசாரியனிடத்திற்குப்போய்;
Meanwhile Saul, still breathing murderous threats against the disciples of the Lord, went to the High Priest,
2 ௨ இந்த மார்க்கத்தாராகிய ஆண்களையாவது, பெண்களையாவது தான் கண்டுபிடித்தால், அவர்களைக் கட்டி எருசலேமுக்குக் கொண்டுவரும்படி, தமஸ்குவிலுள்ள ஜெப ஆலயங்களுக்கு உத்தரவுகளைக் கேட்டு வாங்கினான்.
and asked him to give him letters to the Jewish congregations at Damascus, authorising him, if he found there any supporters of the Cause, whether men or women, to have them put in chains and brought to Jerusalem.
3 ௩ அவன் பயணமாகப்போய், தமஸ்குவிற்கு அருகில் வந்தபோது, திடீரென்று வானத்திலிருந்து ஒரு ஒளி அவனைச் சுற்றிப் பிரகாசித்தது;
While on his journey, as he was nearing Damascus, suddenly a light from the heavens flashed around him.
4 ௪ அவன் தரையிலே விழுந்தான். அப்பொழுது:” சவுலே, சவுலே, நீ என்னை ஏன் துன்பப்படுத்துகிறாய்” என்று தன்னுடனே சொல்லுகிற ஒரு சத்தத்தைக் கேட்டான்.
He fell to the ground and heard a voice saying to him — “Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting me?”
5 ௫ அதற்கு அவன்: “ஆண்டவரே, நீர் யார்?” என்றான். அதற்குக் கர்த்தர்: “நீ துன்பப்படுத்துகிற இயேசு நானே; முள்ளில் உதைக்கிறது உனக்குக் கடினமாம்” என்றார்.
“Who are you, Lord?” he asked. “I am Jesus, whom you are persecuting,” the voice answered;
6 ௬ அவன் நடுங்கித் திகைத்து: “ஆண்டவரே, நான் என்ன செய்ய பிரியமாக இருக்கிறீர்” என்றான். அதற்குக் கர்த்தர்: “நீ எழுந்து, பட்டணத்திற்குள்ளே போ, நீ செய்யவேண்டியது அங்கே உனக்குச் சொல்லப்படும்” என்றார்.
“Yet stand up and go into the city, and you will be told what you must do.”
7 ௭ அவனுடனேகூடப் பயணம்பண்ணின மனிதர்கள் சத்தத்தைக் கேட்டும் ஒருவரையும் காணாமல் செய்வதறியாமல் பிரமித்து நின்றார்கள்.
The men traveling with Saul were meanwhile standing speechless; they heard the sound of the voice, but saw no one.
8 ௮ சவுல் தரையிலிருந்தெழுந்து, தன் கண்களைத் திறந்தபோது ஒருவரையும் காணவில்லை. அப்பொழுது கையைப் பிடித்து, அவனைத் தமஸ்குவிற்குக் கூட்டிக்கொண்டுபோனார்கள்.
When Saul got up from the ground, though his eyes were open, he could see nothing. So his men led him by the hand, and brought him into Damascus;
and for three days he was unable to see, and took nothing either to eat or to drink.
10 ௧0 தமஸ்குவிலே அனனியா என்னும் பேருள்ள ஒரு சீடன் இருந்தான். அவனுக்குக் கர்த்தர் தரிசனமாகி: “அனனியாவே,” என்றார். அவன்: “ஆண்டவரே, இதோ, அடியேன்” என்றான்.
Now there was at Damascus a disciple named Ananias, to whom, in a vision, the Lord said: “Ananias.” “Yes, Lord,” he answered.
11 ௧௧ அப்பொழுது கர்த்தர்: “நீ எழுந்து நேர்த்தெருவு என்னப்பட்ட தெருவிற்குப்போய், யூதாவின் வீட்டிலே தர்சுபட்டணத்தானாகிய சவுல் என்னும் பேருள்ள ஒருவனைத் தேடு; அவன் இப்பொழுது ஜெபம்பண்ணுகிறான்;
“Go at once,” said the Lord, “to the ‘Straight Street’, and ask at Judas’s house for a man named Saul, from Tarsus. He is at this moment praying,
12 ௧௨ அனனியா என்னும் பேருள்ள ஒரு மனிதன் தன்னிடத்தில் வரவும், தான் பார்வையடையும்படி தன்மேல் கையை வைக்கவும் தரிசனம் கண்டான்” என்றார்.
and he has seen, in a vision, a man named Ananias coming in and placing his hands on him, so that he may recover his sight.”
13 ௧௩ அதற்கு அனனியா: “ஆண்டவரே, இந்த மனிதன் எருசலேமிலுள்ள உம்முடைய பரிசுத்தவான்களுக்கு எத்தனையோ தீங்குகளைச் செய்தானென்று அவனைக்குறித்து அநேகரால் கேள்விப்பட்டிருக்கிறேன்.
“Lord,” exclaimed Ananias, “I have heard from many people about this man — how much harm he has done at Jerusalem to your People there.
14 ௧௪ இங்கேயும் உம்முடைய நாமத்தை ஆராதிக்கின்ற எல்லோரையும் கைதுசெய்யும்படி அவன் பிரதான ஆசாரியனிடத்தில் அதிகாரம் பெற்றிருக்கிறானே” என்றான்.
And, here, too, he holds authority from the Chief Priests to put in chains all those who invoke your Name.”
15 ௧௫ அதற்குக் கர்த்தர்: “நீ போ; அவன் யூதரல்லாதவர்களுக்கும், ராஜாக்களுக்கும், இஸ்ரவேல் சந்ததிகளுக்கும் என்னுடைய நாமத்தை அறிவிக்கிறதற்காக நான் தெரிந்துகொண்ட நபராக இருக்கிறான்.
But the Lord said to him: “Go, for this man is my chosen instrument to uphold my Name before the Gentiles and their kings, and the people of Israel.
16 ௧௬ அவன் என்னுடைய நாமத்தினிமித்தம் எவ்வளவு பாடுபடவேண்டுமென்பதை நான் அவனுக்குக் காண்பிப்பேன்” என்றார்.
I will myself show him all that he has to suffer for my Name.”
17 ௧௭ அப்பொழுது அனனியா போய், வீட்டிற்குள்ளே பிரவேசித்து, அவன்மேல் கையை வைத்து: “சகோதரனாகிய சவுலே, நீ வந்த வழியிலே உனக்குத் தரிசனமான இயேசுவாகிய கர்த்தர், நீ பார்வையடையும்படிக்கும் பரிசுத்த ஆவியானவராலே நிரப்பப்படும்படிக்கும் என்னை அனுப்பினார்” என்றான்.
So Ananias went, entered the house, and, placing his hands on Saul, said: “Saul, my Brother, I have been sent by the Lord — by Jesus, who appeared to you on your way here — so that you may recover your sight and be filled with the Holy Spirit.”
18 ௧௮ உடனே அவன் கண்களிலிருந்து மீன் செதில்கள் போன்றவைகள் விழுந்தது. அவன் பார்வையடைந்து, எழுந்திருந்து, ஞானஸ்நானம் பெற்றான்.
Instantly it seemed as if a film fell from Saul’s eyes, and his sight was restored. Then he got up and was baptized,
and, after he had taken food, he felt his strength return. Saul stayed for some days with the disciples who were at Damascus,
and at once began in the Synagogues to proclaim Jesus as the Son of God.
21 ௨௧ கேட்டவர்களெல்லோரும் ஆச்சரியப்பட்டு: எருசலேமில் இயேசுவின் நாமத்தை ஆராதிக்கின்றவர்களை துன்புறுத்தி, இங்கேயும் அப்படிப்பட்டவர்களைக் கைதுசெய்து பிரதான ஆசாரியர்களிடத்தில் கொண்டுபோகும்படி வந்தவன் இவனல்லவா என்றார்கள்.
All who heard him were amazed. “Is not this,” they asked, “the man who worked havoc in Jerusalem among those that invoke this Name, and who had also come here for the express purpose of having such persons put in chains and taken before the Chief Priests?”
22 ௨௨ சவுல் அதிகமாகத் திடன்கொண்டு, இவரே கிறிஸ்துவென்று தொடர்ந்துப் பேசி, தமஸ்குவில் குடியிருக்கிற யூதர்களைக் கலங்கப்பண்ணினான்.
Saul’s influence, however, kept steadily increasing, and he confounded the Jews who lived in Damascus by the proofs that he gave that Jesus was the Christ.
After some time the Jews laid a plot to kill Saul,
24 ௨௪ அவர்களுடைய யோசனை சவுலுக்குத் தெரியவந்தது. அவனைக் கொலைசெய்யும்படி அவர்கள் இரவும் பகலும் கோட்டைவாசல்களைக் காத்துக்கொண்டிருந்தார்கள்.
but it became known to him. They even watched the gates day and night, to kill him;
25 ௨௫ சீடர்கள் இராத்திரியிலே அவனைக் கூட்டிக்கொண்டுபோய், ஒரு கூடையிலே வைத்து, மதில்வழியாக இறக்கிவிட்டார்கள்.
but his disciples let him down by night through an opening in the wall, lowering him in a basket.
26 ௨௬ சவுல் எருசலேமுக்கு வந்து, சீடர்களோடு சேர்ந்துகொள்ளப்பார்த்தான்; அவர்கள் அவனைச் சீடனென்று நம்பாமல் எல்லோரும் அவனுக்குப் பயந்திருந்தார்கள்.
On his arrival in Jerusalem, Saul attempted to join the disciples, but they were all afraid of him, as they did not believe that he was really a disciple.
27 ௨௭ அப்பொழுது பர்னபா என்பவன் அவனைச் சேர்த்துக்கொண்டு, அப்போஸ்தலர்களிடத்தில் அழைத்துக்கொண்டுபோய், வழியிலே அவன் கர்த்த்தரைக் கண்ட விதத்தையும், அவர் அவனுடனே பேசினதையும், தமஸ்குவில் அவன் இயேசுவின் நாமத்தினாலே தைரியமாகப் பிரசங்கித்ததையும் அவர்களுக்கு விவரித்துச்சொன்னான்.
Barnabas, however, taking him by the hand, brought him to the Apostles, and told them the whole story of how Saul on his journey had seen the Lord, and how the Lord had talked to him, and how in Damascus he had spoken out fearlessly in the Name of Jesus.
After that, Saul remained in Jerusalem, in close intercourse with the Apostles; and he spoke fearlessly in the Name of the Lord,
29 ௨௯ கர்த்தராகிய இயேசுவின் நாமத்தினாலே தைரியமாகப் பிரசங்கித்து, கிரேக்கர்களுடனே பேசி விவாதித்தான்; அவர்களோ அவனைக் கொலைசெய்ய வகைதேடினார்கள்.
talking and arguing with the Jews of foreign birth, who, however, made attempts to kill him.
30 ௩0 சகோதரர்கள் அதை அறிந்து, அவனைச் செசரியாவிற்கு அழைத்துக்கொண்டுபோய், தர்சுவிற்கு அனுப்பிவிட்டார்கள்.
But, when the Brethren found this out, they took him down to Caesarea, and sent him on his way to Tarsus.
31 ௩௧ அப்பொழுது யூதேயா கலிலேயா சமாரியா நாடுகளிலெங்கும் சபைகள் சமாதானம் பெற்று, பக்திவளர்ச்சியடைந்து, கர்த்தருக்குப் பயப்படுகிற பயத்தோடும், பரிசுத்த ஆவியானவரின் ஆறுதலோடும் வளர்ந்து பெருகின.
And so it came about that the Church, throughout Judea, Galilee, and Samaria, enjoyed peace and became firmly established; and, ordering its life by reverence for the Lord and the help of the Holy Spirit, it increased in numbers.
32 ௩௨ பேதுரு போய் எல்லோரையும் சந்தித்துவரும்போது, அவன் லித்தா ஊரிலே குடியிருக்கிற பரிசுத்தவான்களிடத்திற்கும் போனான்.
Peter, while traveling from place to place throughout the country, went down to visit the People of Christ living at Lydda.
33 ௩௩ அங்கே எட்டு வருடங்களாக கட்டிலின்மேல் கை, கால்கள் செயலிழந்து கிடந்த ஐனேயா என்னும் பேருள்ள ஒரு மனிதனைக் கண்டான்.
There he found a man named Aeneas, who had been bed-ridden for eight years with paralysis.
34 ௩௪ பேதுரு அவனைப் பார்த்து: “ஐனேயாவே, இயேசுகிறிஸ்து உன்னைக் குணமாக்குகிறார்; நீ எழுந்து, உன் படுக்கையை நீயே போட்டுக்கொள்” என்றான். உடனே அவன் எழுந்திருந்தான்.
“Aeneas,” Peter said to him, “Jesus Christ cures you. Get up, and make your bed.” Aeneas got up at once;
35 ௩௫ லித்தாவிலும் சாரோனிலும் குடியிருந்தவர்களெல்லோரும் அவனைக் கண்டு, கர்த்தரிடத்தில் திரும்பினார்கள்.
and all the inhabitants of Lydda and of the Plain of Sharon saw him, and came over to the Lord’s side.
36 ௩௬ யோப்பா பட்டணத்தில் உள்ள சீடர்களில், கிரேக்கு மொழியிலே தொற்காள் என்று அர்த்தங்கொள்ளும் தபீத்தாள் என்னும் பெயருடைய ஒரு பெண் இருந்தாள்; அவள் நல்லகாரியங்களையும் தருமங்களையும் மிகுதியாகச் செய்துகொண்டுவந்தாள்.
At Jaffa there lived a disciple whose name was Tabitha, which is in Greek ‘Dorcas’ — a Gazelle. Her life was spent in doing kind and charitable actions.
37 ௩௭ அந்த நாட்களிலே அவள் வியாதிப்பட்டு மரித்துப்போனாள். அவளைக் குளிப்பாட்டி, மேல்வீட்டிலே கிடத்திவைத்தார்கள்.
Just at that time she was taken ill, and died; and they had washed her body and laid it out in an upstairs room.
38 ௩௮ யோப்பா பட்டணம் லித்தா ஊருக்கு அருகிலிருந்தபடியினாலே, பேதுரு அந்த இடத்தில் இருக்கிறானென்று சீடர்கள் கேள்விப்பட்டு, தாமதமில்லாமல் தங்களிடத்தில் வரவேண்டும் என்று சொல்லும்படி இரண்டு மனிதர்களை அவனிடத்திற்கு அனுப்பினார்கள்.
Jaffa was near Lydda, and the disciples, having heard that Peter was at Lydda, sent two men with the request that he would come on to them without delay.
39 ௩௯ பேதுரு எழுந்து, அவர்களோடு போனான். அவன் போய்ச் சேர்ந்தபொழுது, அவர்கள் அவனை மேல்வீட்டிற்கு அழைத்துக்கொண்டுபோனார்கள். அப்பொழுது விதவைகளெல்லோரும் அழுது, தொற்காள் தங்களோடு இருந்தபோது செய்திருந்த அங்கிகளையும், மற்ற ஆடைகளையும் காண்பித்து, அவனைச் சூழ்ந்துநின்றார்கள்.
Peter returned with them at once. On his arrival, he was taken upstairs, and all the widows came round him in tears, showing the coats and other clothing which Dorcas had made while she was among them.
40 ௪0 பேதுரு எல்லோரையும் வெளியே போகச்செய்து, முழங்காற்படியிட்டு ஜெபம்பண்ணி, சடலத்தின் பக்கமாக திரும்பி: “தபீத்தாளே, எழுந்திரு” என்றான். அப்பொழுது அவள் தன் கண்களைத் திறந்து, பேதுருவைப் பார்த்து உட்கார்ந்தாள்.
But Peter sent everybody out of the room, and knelt down and prayed. Then, turning to the body, he said: “Tabitha! stand up.” She opened her eyes, and, seeing Peter, sat up.
41 ௪௧ அவன் அவளுக்குக் கைகொடுத்து, அவளை எழுந்திருக்கப்பண்ணி, பரிசுத்தவான்களையும், விதவைகளையும் அழைத்து, அவளை உயிருள்ளவளாக அவர்களுக்குமுன் நிறுத்தினான்.
Giving her his hand, Peter raised her up, and, calling in the widows and others of Christ’s People, presented her to them alive.
42 ௪௨ இது யோப்பா பட்டணம் எங்கும் தெரியவந்தது. அப்பொழுது அநேகர் கர்த்தரிடத்தில் விசுவாசமுள்ளவர்களானார்கள்.
This became known all through Jaffa, and numbers of People came to believe in the Lord.
43 ௪௩ பின்பு அவன் யோப்பா பட்டணத்திலே தோல்பதனிடுகிறவனாகிய சீமோன் என்னும் ஒருவனிடத்தில் அநேகநாட்கள் தங்கியிருந்தான்.
And Peter stayed some days at Jaffa with a tanner named Simon.
