2 சாமுவேல் 2
1 ௧ பின்பு தாவீது யெகோவாவை நோக்கி: நான் யூதாவின் பட்டணங்களில் ஒன்றிலே போய் இருக்கலாமா என்று விசாரித்தான். அதற்குக் யெகோவா: போ என்றார்; எந்த இடத்திற்குப் போகலாம் என்று தாவீது கேட்டதற்கு, அவர்: எப்ரோனுக்குப் போ என்றார்.
And it came to pass after this that David inquired of Jehovah, saying, Shall I go up into one of the cities of Judah? And Jehovah said to him, Go up. And David said, Whither shall I go up? And he said, Unto Hebron.
2 ௨ அப்படியே தாவீது தன்னுடைய இரண்டு மனைவிகளாகிய யெஸ்ரயேல் ஊரைச் சேர்ந்த அகினோவாமோடும், நாபாலின் மனைவியாயிருந்த கர்மேல் ஊரைச் சேர்ந்த அபிகாயிலோடும் அந்த இடத்திற்குப் போனான்.
So David went up thither, and his two wives also, Ahinoam the Jizreelitess, and Abigail the wife of Nabal the Carmelite.
3 ௩ மேலும், தன்னோடு இருந்த மனிதர்களையும், அவர்கள் குடும்பங்களையும் கூட்டிக்கொண்டுபோனான்; அவர்கள் எப்ரோனின் நகரங்களில் குடியேறினார்கள்.
And his men that were with him did David bring up, every man with his household; and they dwelt in the cities of Hebron.
4 ௪ அப்பொழுது யூதாவின் மனிதர்கள் வந்து, அங்கே தாவீதை யூதா வம்சத்தார்களின்மேல் ராஜாவாக அபிஷேகம்செய்தார்கள். சவுலை அடக்கம்செய்தவர்கள் கீலேயாத்தேசத்து யாபேசின் மனிதர்கள் என்று அவர்கள் தாவீதுக்கு அறிவித்தபோது.
And the men of Judah came, and there they anointed David king over the house of Judah. And they told David, saying, It is the men of Jabesh-Gilead that have buried Saul.
5 ௫ தாவீது கீலேயாத்தேசத்து யாபேசின் மனிதர்களிடம் தூதுவர்களை அனுப்பி, நீங்கள் உங்களுடைய ஆண்டவனான சவுலுக்கு இந்த தயவைச் செய்து, அவரை அடக்கம்செய்ததால், யெகோவா உங்களை ஆசீர்வதிப்பாராக.
And David sent messengers to the men of Jabesh-Gilead, and said to them, Blessed be ye of Jehovah, that ye have shewn this kindness to your lord, to Saul, and have buried him!
6 ௬ யெகோவா உங்களைக் கிருபையும் உண்மையுமாக நடத்துவாராக; நீங்கள் இந்தக் காரியத்தைச் செய்தபடியால், நானும் இந்த நன்மைக்கு ஏற்றபடி உங்களை நடத்துவேன்.
And now Jehovah shew kindness and faithfulness to you; and I also will requite you this good, because ye have done this thing.
7 ௭ இப்பொழுதும் நீங்கள் உங்களுடைய கைகளை பெலப்படுத்திக்கொண்டு தைரியமாக இருங்கள்; உங்களுடைய ஆண்டவனான சவுல் இறந்த பின்பு, யூதா வம்சத்தார்கள் என்னைத் தங்கள்மேல் ராஜாவாக அபிஷேகம் செய்தார்கள் என்று அவர்களுக்குச் சொல்லச்சொன்னான்.
And now let your hands be strong, and be ye valiant; for your master Saul is dead, and also the house of Judah have anointed me king over them.
8 ௮ சவுலின் படைத்தலைவனான நேரின் மகனான அப்னேர், சவுலின் மகனான இஸ்போசேத்தை மகனாயீமுக்கு அழைத்துக்கொண்டுபோய்,
And Abner the son of Ner, captain of Saul's host, took Ishbosheth the son of Saul, and brought him over to Mahanaim;
9 ௯ அவனைக் கீலேயாத்தின்மேலும், அஷூரியர்கள்மேலும், யெஸ்ரயேலின்மேலும், எப்பிராயீமின்மேலும், பென்யமீனின்மேலும், இஸ்ரவேல் அனைத்தின்மேலும் ராஜாவாக்கினான்.
and made him king over Gilead, and over the Asshurites, and over Jizreel, and over Ephraim, and over Benjamin, and over all Israel.
10 ௧0 சவுலின் மகனான இஸ்போசேத் இஸ்ரவேலின்மேல் ராஜாவாகிறபோது, 40 வயதாக இருந்தான்; அவன் இரண்டுவருடங்கள் ஆட்சி செய்தான்; யூதா கோத்திரத்தார்கள் மட்டும் தாவீதைப் பின்பற்றினார்கள்.
Ishbosheth Saul's son was forty years old when he began to reign over Israel, and he reigned two years. However, the house of Judah followed David.
11 ௧௧ தாவீது எப்ரோனிலே யூதா கோத்திரத்தின்மேல் ராஜாவாக இருந்த நாட்களின் எண்ணிக்கை ஏழு வருடங்களும் ஆறு மாதங்களும் ஆகும்.
And the time that David was king in Hebron over the house of Judah was seven years and six months.
12 ௧௨ நேரின் மகனான அப்னேர் சவுலின் மகனான இஸ்போசேத்தின் வீரர்களைக் கூட்டிக்கொண்டு, மகனாயீமிலிருந்து கிபியோனுக்குப் புறப்பட்டுப் போனான்.
And Abner the son of Ner, and the servants of Ishbosheth the son of Saul, went out from Mahanaim to Gibeon.
13 ௧௩ அப்பொழுது செருயாளின் மகனான யோவாபும் தாவீதின் வீரர்களும் புறப்பட்டுப்போய், கிபியோனின் குளத்தின் அருகில் ஒருவருக்கு ஒருவர் சந்தித்து, குளத்திற்கு அந்தப்பக்கத்தில் அவர்களும், குளத்திற்கு இந்தப்பக்கத்தில் இவர்களும் இறங்கினார்கள்.
And Joab the son of Zeruiah, and the servants of David, went out. And they met together by the pool of Gibeon; and they sat down, these on the one side of the pool, and those on the other side of the pool.
14 ௧௪ அப்னேர் யோவாபை நோக்கி: வாலிபர்கள் எழுந்து, நமக்கு முன்பாகச் சண்டையிடட்டும் என்றான். அதற்கு யோவாப்: அவர்கள் எழுந்து, அப்படிச் செய்யட்டும் என்றான்.
And Abner said to Joab, Let the young men now arise and make sport before us. And Joab said, Let them arise.
15 ௧௫ அப்பொழுது சவுலின் மகனான இஸ்போசேத்தின் பக்கத்திற்குப் பென்யமீன் மனிதர்களில் பன்னிரெண்டுபேர்களும், தாவீதுடைய வீரர்களிலே பன்னிரெண்டுபேர்களும், எழுந்து ஒரு பக்கமாகப் போய்,
And they arose and went over by number, twelve for Benjamin, and for Ishbosheth the son of Saul, and twelve of the servants of David.
16 ௧௬ ஒருவர் தலையை ஒருவர் பிடித்து, ஒருவருடைய விலாவிலே ஒருவர் பட்டயத்தினாலே குத்தி, ஒன்றாக விழுந்தார்கள்; அதினாலே கிபியோனிலிருக்கிற அந்த இடம் எல்காத் அசூரிம் எனப்பட்டது.
And they caught every one his fellow by the head, and [thrust] his sword in his fellow's side, and they fell down together. And that place was called Helkath-hazzurim, which is by Gibeon.
17 ௧௭ அந்த நாளில் மிகவும் கடுமையான யுத்தமாகி, அப்னேரும் இஸ்ரவேல் மனிதர்களும் தாவீதின் வீரர்களால் முறியடிக்கப்பட்டார்கள்.
And the battle that day was very severe; and Abner and the men of Israel were routed before the servants of David.
18 ௧௮ அங்கே செருயாவின் மூன்று மகன்களான யோவாபும் அபிசாயும் ஆசகேலும் இருந்தார்கள்; ஆசகேல் காட்டுமான்களில் ஒன்றைப்போல வேகமாக ஓடுகிறவனாக இருந்தான்.
And there were three sons of Zeruiah there, Joab, and Abishai, and Asahel. Now Asahel was swift of foot, as one of the gazelles that are in the field.
19 ௧௯ அவன் அப்னேரைப் பின்தொடர்ந்து, வலதுபுறமாவது இடதுபுறமாவது, அவனைவிட்டு விலகாமல் துரத்திக்கொண்டுபோனான்.
And Asahel pursued after Abner; and in going he turned not to the right hand nor to the left from behind Abner.
Then Abner looked behind him, and said, Art thou Asahel? And he said, I am.
21 ௨௧ அப்பொழுது அப்னேர் அவனை நோக்கி: நீ வலதுபக்கத்திலோ இடதுபக்கத்திலோ விலகி, வாலிபர்களில் ஒருவனைப் பிடித்து அவனுடைய ஆயுதங்களை எடுத்துக்கொள் என்றான்; ஆசகேலோ விடமாட்டேன் என்று தொடர்ந்துபோனான்.
And Abner said to him, Turn thee aside, to thy right hand or to thy left, and lay hold of one of the young men, and take for thyself his armour. But Asahel would not turn aside from following him.
22 ௨௨ பின்னும் அப்னேர் ஆசகேலை நோக்கி: நீ என்னை விட்டுப்போ; நான் உன்னை ஏன் தரையில் விழ வெட்டவேண்டும்? பின்பு உன்னுடைய சகோதரனான யோவாபின் முகத்திலே எப்படி விழிப்பேன் என்றான்.
And Abner said again to Asahel, Turn thee aside from following me: why should I smite thee to the ground? how then should I hold up my face to Joab thy brother?
23 ௨௩ ஆனாலும் அவன் விலகிப்போகமாட்டேன் என்றபடியால், அப்னேர் அவனை ஈட்டியின் பின்புற மழுங்கிய முனையால் அவனுடைய வயிற்றிலே குத்தினான்; ஈட்டி மறுபக்கத்தில் வந்தது; அவன் அங்கேயே விழுந்து இறந்தான்; ஆசகேல் விழுந்துகிடக்கிற இடத்திற்கு வந்தவர்கள் எல்லோரும் அங்கேயே நின்றார்கள்.
But he refused to turn aside; therefore Abner with the hinder end of the spear smote him in the belly, so that the spear came out behind him; and he fell down there, and died in the same place. And it came to pass, that as many as came to the place where Asahel fell down and died stood still.
24 ௨௪ யோவாபும் அபிசாயும் சூரியன் மறையும்வரை அப்னேரைப் பின்தொடர்ந்தார்கள்; கிபியோன் வனாந்திர வழிக்கு அருகில் இருக்கிற கீயாவுக்கு எதிரே இருக்கிற அம்மா மேடுவரை வந்தார்கள்.
And Joab and Abishai pursued after Abner; and the sun went down when they came to the hill of Ammah, which is before Giah on the way to the wilderness of Gibeon.
25 ௨௫ அப்பொழுது அப்னேருக்குப் பின்சென்ற பென்யமீன் மனிதர்கள் ஒரே படையாகக் கூடி, ஒரு மலையின் உச்சியிலே நின்றார்கள்.
And the children of Benjamin gathered themselves together after Abner, and became one troop, and stood on the top of a hill.
26 ௨௬ அப்பொழுது அப்னேர் யோவாபைப் பார்த்துக் கூப்பிட்டு, பட்டயம் எப்போதும் அழித்துக்கொண்டிருக்கவேண்டுமோ, முடிவிலே கசப்புண்டாகும் என்று தெரியாதோ, தங்களுடைய சகோதரர்களைவிட்டுப் பின்வாங்கும்படி எதுவரைக்கும் மக்களுக்குச் சொல்லாமல் இருப்பீர் என்றான்.
And Abner called to Joab, and said, Shall the sword devour for ever? knowest thou not that it will be bitterness in the latter end? and how long shall it be ere thou bid the people return from following their brethren?
27 ௨௭ அதற்கு யோவாப்: இன்று காலையில் நீர் பேசாமல் இருந்திருந்தால் மக்கள் அவரவர்கள் தங்களுடைய சகோதரர்களைப் பின்தொடராமல், அப்போதே திரும்பியிருப்பார்கள் என்று தேவனுடைய ஜீவனைக்கொண்டு சொல்லுகிறேன் என்றான்.
And Joab said, [As] God liveth, unless thou hadst spoken, surely then in the morning the people had gone up every one from following his brother.
28 ௨௮ யோவாப் எக்காளம் ஊதினான்; அப்பொழுது மக்கள் அனைவரும் இஸ்ரவேலைப் பின்தொடராமலும், யுத்தம்செய்யாமலும் நின்றுவிட்டார்கள்.
And Joab blew the trumpet, and all the people stood still, and pursued after Israel no more, neither did they fight any more.
29 ௨௯ அன்று இரவு முழுவதும் அப்னேரும் அவனுடைய மனிதர்களும் பாலைவனம் வழியாகப் போய், யோர்தானைக் கடந்து, பித்ரோன் வழியே சென்று அதைக் கடந்து, மகனாயீமுக்குப் போனார்கள்.
And Abner and his men walked all that night through the plain, and passed over the Jordan, and went through all Bithron, and they came to Mahanaim.
30 ௩0 யோவாப் அப்னேரைப் பின்தொடராமல் மக்களையெல்லாம் கூடிவரச்செய்தான்; தாவீதின் வீரர்களில் 19 பேர்களும் ஆசகேலும் குறைந்திருந்தார்கள்.
And Joab returned from following Abner, and gathered all the people together; and there lacked of David's servants nineteen men, and Asahel.
And the servants of David had smitten of Benjamin, and of Abner's men, three hundred and sixty men, who had died.
32 ௩௨ அவர்கள் ஆசகேலை எடுத்து, பெத்லெகேமிலுள்ள அவனுடைய தகப்பனுடைய கல்லறையில் அவனை அடக்கம்செய்தார்கள்; யோவாபும் அவனுடைய மனிதர்களும் இரவு முழுவதும் நடந்து, பொழுது விடியும்போது எப்ரோனிற்கு வந்துசேர்ந்தார்கள்.
And they took up Asahel, and buried him in the sepulchre of his father, which was in Bethlehem. And Joab and his men went all night, and they came to Hebron at break of day.
