And it came to pass, when Jehoshaphat had riches and honour, in abundance, that he contracted, by marriage, affinity with Ahab.
2 ௨ சில வருடங்கள் சென்றபின்பு, சமாரியாவிலிருக்கிற ஆகாபிடம் போனான்; அப்பொழுது ஆகாப் அவனுக்கும் அவனோடிருக்கிற மக்களுக்கும் அநேகம் ஆடுமாடுகளை அடிப்பித்து, கீலேயாத்திலுள்ள ராமோத்திற்கு வரும்படி அவனை இணங்கச் செய்தான்.
So he went down, at the end of some years, unto Ahab, to Samaria, Ahab therefore sacrificed for him, sheep and oxen, in abundance, also for the people whom he had with him, -and then persuaded him to go up against Ramoth-gilead.
3 ௩ எப்படியெனில், இஸ்ரவேலின் ராஜாவாகிய ஆகாப் யூதாவின் ராஜாவாகிய யோசபாத்தை நோக்கி: கீலேயாத்திலுள்ள ராமோத்திற்கு என்னோடு வருகிறீரா என்று கேட்டதற்கு அவன்: நான் தான் நீர், என்னுடைய மக்கள் உம்முடைய மக்கள், உம்மோடுகூட போருக்கு வருகிறேன் என்றான்.
For Ahab king of Israel said unto Jehoshaphat king of Judah, Wilt thou go up with me to Ramoth-gilead? And he said unto him—So am I, even as thou, and, like thy people, are my people, and, with thee, in the war.
4 ௪ மேலும் யோசபாத் இஸ்ரவேலின் ராஜாவைப் பார்த்து: யெகோவாவுடைய வார்த்தையை இன்றைக்கு விசாரித்துத் தெரிந்துகொள்ளும் என்றான்.
Then said Jehoshaphat, unto the king of Israel, —Seek, I pray thee, some time to-day, the word of Yahweh.
5 ௫ அப்பொழுது இஸ்ரவேலின் ராஜா நானூறு தீர்க்கதரிசிகளைக் கூடிவரச்செய்து: நாங்கள் கீலேயாத்திலுள்ள ராமோத்தின்மேல் போர்செய்யப் போகலாமா, போகக்கூடாதா என்று அவர்களைக் கேட்டான். அதற்கு அவர்கள்: போங்கள், தேவன் ராஜாவின் கையில் அதை ஒப்புக்கொடுப்பார் என்றார்கள்.
So the king of Israel gathered together the prophets, four hundred men, and said unto them, Shall we go up against Ramoth-gilead to battle, or shall I forbear? And they said—Go up, and may God deliver it into the hand of the king!
6 ௬ பின்பு யோசபாத்: நாம் விசாரித்துத் தெரிந்துகொள்வதற்கு இவர்களைத்தவிர யெகோவாவுடைய தீர்க்கதரிசி வேறே யாராகிலும் இங்கே இல்லையா என்று கேட்டான்.
Then said Jehoshaphat, Is there not here a prophet of Yahweh, besides, —that we may seek, from him?
7 ௭ அப்பொழுது இஸ்ரவேலின் ராஜா யோசபாத்தை நோக்கி: யெகோவாவிடத்தில் விசாரித்துத் தெரிந்துகொள்வதற்கு இம்லாவின் மகனாகிய மிகாயா என்னும் மற்றொருவன் இருக்கிறான்; ஆனாலும் நான் அவனைப் பகைக்கிறேன்; அவன் என்னைக்குறித்து நன்மையாக அல்ல, தீமையாகவே எப்பொழுதும் தீர்க்கதரிசனம் சொல்லுகிறவன் என்றான். அதற்கு யோசபாத்: ராஜாவே, அப்படிச் சொல்லவேண்டாம் என்றான்.
Then said the king of Israel unto Jehoshaphat—There is yet one man, by whom to seek Yahweh, but, I, hate him, for he is never prophesying, concerning me, anything good—but—all his days—evil, the same, is Micaiah, son of Imla. Then said Jehoshaphat, Let not the king say, so!
8 ௮ அப்பொழுது இஸ்ரவேலின் ராஜா, மந்திரிகளில் ஒருவனைக் கூப்பிட்டு: இம்லாவின் மகனாகிய மிகாயாவைச் சீக்கிரமாக அழைத்துவா என்றான்.
And the king of Israel called for a certain officer, —and said, Haste, Micaiah son of Imla!
9 ௯ இஸ்ரவேலின் ராஜாவும் யூதாவின் ராஜாவாகிய யோசபாத்தும், சமாரியாவின் நுழைவாயிலுக்கு முன்னிருக்கும் விசாலமான இடத்திலே ராஜஉடை அணிந்துகொண்டவர்களாக, அவரவர் தம்தம் சிங்காசனத்திலே உட்கார்ந்திருந்தார்கள்; அனைத்து தீர்க்கதரிசிகளும் அவர்களுக்கு முன்பாகத் தீர்க்கதரிசனம் சொன்னார்கள்.
Now, the king of Israel, and Jehoshaphat king of Judah, were sitting, each upon his throne, clothed in robes, and they were sitting in an open space, at the entrance of the gate of Samaria, —and, all the prophets, were prophesying before them.
10 ௧0 கேனானாவின் மகனாகிய சிதேக்கியா தனக்கு இரும்புக்கொம்புகளை உண்டாக்கி, இவைகளால் நீர் சீரியர்களை முட்டி அழித்துப்போடுவீர் என்று யெகோவா சொல்லுகிறார் என்றான்.
Then did Zedekiah son of Chenaanah make him horns of iron, —and said—Thus, saith Yahweh, With these, shalt thou push Syria, until they are consumed.
11 ௧௧ அனைத்து தீர்க்கதரிசிகளும் அதற்கு ஏற்றவாறு தீர்க்கதரிசனம் சொல்லி, கீலேயாத்திலுள்ள ராமோத்திற்குப் போங்கள், உங்களுக்கு வாய்க்கும், யெகோவா அதை ராஜாவின் கையில் ஒப்புக்கொடுப்பார் என்றார்கள்.
And, all the prophets, were prophesying, so, saying, -Go up to Ramoth-gilead, and prosper, and Yahweh will deliver [it] into the hand of the king.
12 ௧௨ மிகாயாவை அழைக்கப்போன ஆள் அவனுடனே பேசி: இதோ, தீர்க்கதரிசிகளின் வார்த்தைகள் ஒன்றுபோலவே ராஜாவுக்கு நன்மையாயிருக்கிறது; உம்முடைய வார்த்தையும் அவர்களில் ஒருவருடைய வார்த்தையைப்போல இருக்கும்படி நன்மையாகச் சொல்லும் என்றான்.
And, the messenger who went to call Micaiah, spake unto him, saying, Lo! the words of the prophets, with one mouth, are good for the king, —be thy word then, I pray thee, like one of theirs, so wilt thou speak good.
13 ௧௩ அதற்கு மிகாயா: என் தேவன் சொல்வதையே சொல்வேன் என்று யெகோவாவுடைய ஜீவனைக்கொண்டு சொல்லுகிறேன் என்றான்.
Then said Micaiah, —By the life of Yahweh, whatsoever my God shall say, that, must I speak.
14 ௧௪ அவன் ராஜாவினிடத்தில் வந்தபோது, ராஜா அவனைப் பார்த்து: மிகாயாவே, நாங்கள் கீலேயாத்திலுள்ள ராமோத்தின்மேல் போர்செய்யப் போகலாமா, போகக்கூடாதா என்று கேட்டான். அதற்கு அவன்: போங்கள்; உங்களுக்கு வாய்க்கும்; அவர்கள் உங்கள் கையில் ஒப்புக்கொடுக்கப்படுவார்கள் என்றான்.
Now, when he came unto the king, the king said unto him, Micah, shall we go against Ramoth-gilead to battle, or shall I forbear? And he said, Go ye up and prosper, and may they be delivered into your hand.
15 ௧௫ ராஜா அவனைப் பார்த்து: நீ யெகோவாவுடைய நாமத்திலே உண்மையைத் தவிர வேறொன்றையும் என்னிடத்தில் சொல்லாதபடி, நான் எத்தனைமுறை உனக்கு ஆணையிடவேண்டும் என்று சொன்னான்.
Then the king said unto him, How many times, must, I, be putting thee on oath, —that thou speak unto me nothing but the truth in the name of Yahweh?
16 ௧௬ அப்பொழுது அவன்: இஸ்ரவேலர் எல்லோரும் மேய்ப்பனில்லாத ஆடுகளைப் போல மலைகளில் சிதறப்பட்டதைக் கண்டேன்; அப்பொழுது யெகோவா: இவர்களுக்கு எஜமான் இல்லை; அவரவர் தம்தம் வீட்டிற்கு சமாதானத்தோடு திரும்பிப் போகட்டும் என்றார் என்று சொன்னான்.
So he said, I saw all Israel, scattered upon the mountains, like sheep that have no shepherd, -and Yahweh said, No masters, have these! let them return every man unto his own house, in peace.
17 ௧௭ அப்பொழுது இஸ்ரவேலின் ராஜா, யோசபாத்தை நோக்கி: இவன் என்னைக்குறித்து நன்மையாக அல்ல, தீமையாகவே தீர்க்கதரிசனம் சொல்லுகிறவன் என்று நான் உம்மோடு சொல்லவில்லையா என்றான்.
Then said the king of Israel, unto Jehoshaphat, —Said I not unto thee, He wilt not prophesy concerning me anything good, but evil?
18 ௧௮ அப்பொழுது மிகாயா சொன்னது: யெகோவாவுடைய வார்த்தையைக் கேளுங்கள்; யெகோவா தம்முடைய சிங்காசனத்தின்மேல் அமர்ந்திருக்கிறதையும், பரமசேனையெல்லாம் அவருடைய வலதுபக்கத்திலும் இடதுபக்கத்திலும் நிற்கிறதையும் கண்டேன்.
Then said he, Therefore, hear ye the word of Yahweh, —I saw Yahweh, sitting upon his throne, and, all the host of the heavens, standing, on his right hand and his left.
19 ௧௯ அப்பொழுது யெகோவா: இஸ்ரவேலின் ராஜாவாகிய ஆகாப் கீலேயாத்திலுள்ள ராமோத்தில் போய் விழும்படிக்கு, அவனுக்கு போதனைசெய்கிறவன் யார் என்று கேட்டதற்கு, ஒருவன் இப்படியும் ஒருவன் அப்படியும் சொன்னார்கள்.
Then said Yahweh, Who will persuade Ahab king of Israel, that he may go up and fall in Ramoth-gilead? And one spake, saying after this manner, and another, saying after that manner.
20 ௨0 அப்பொழுது ஒரு ஆவி புறப்பட்டு வந்து, யெகோவாவுக்கு முன்பாக நின்று: நான் அவனுக்கு போதனைசெய்வேன் என்றது; எதனால் என்று யெகோவா அதைக் கேட்டார்.
Then came there forth a spirit and stood before Yahweh, and said, I, will persuade him. And Yahweh said unto him, Wherewith?
21 ௨௧ அப்பொழுது அது: நான் போய், அவனுடைய தீர்க்கதரிசிகள் எல்லோரின் வாயிலும் பொய்யின் ஆவியாக இருப்பேன் என்றது. அதற்கு அவர்: நீ அவனுக்குப் போதனைசெய்து அப்படி நடக்கச் செய்வாய்; போய் அப்படியே செய் என்றார்.
And he said, I will go forth and become a spirit of falsehood, in the mouth of all his prophets. And he said—Thou mayest persuade, moreover also, thou shalt prevail, go forth, and do, so.
22 ௨௨ ஆகவே யெகோவா பொய்யின் ஆவியை இந்த உம்முடைய தீர்க்கதரிசிகளின் வாயிலே கட்டளையிட்டார்; யெகோவா உம்மைக்குறித்துத் தீமையாகச் சொன்னார் என்றான்.
Now, therefore, lo! Yahweh hath suffered a spirit of falsehood to be put into the mouth of these thy prophets, —but, Yahweh, hath spoken concerning thee—evil.
23 ௨௩ அப்பொழுது கேனானாவின் மகனாகிய சிதேக்கியா அருகில் வந்து: மிகாயாவைக் கன்னத்தில் அடித்து, யெகோவாவுடைய ஆவி எந்த வழியாக என்னைவிட்டு உன்னோடு பேசும்படி வந்தது என்றான்.
Then drew near Zedekiah son of Chenaanah, and smote Micaiah upon the cheek, —and said, Which then is the way the spirit of Yahweh passed from me, to speak with thee?
Then said Micaiah, Lo! thou shalt see, on that day when thou shalt enter into a chamber within a chamber, to hide thyself.
25 ௨௫ அப்பொழுது இஸ்ரவேலின் ராஜா: நீங்கள் மிகாயாவைப் பிடித்து, அவனைப் பட்டணத்துத் தலைவனாகிய ஆமோனிடமும், இளவரசனாகிய யோவாசிடமும் திரும்பக் கொண்டுபோய்,
Then said the king of Israel, Take ye Micaiah, and carry him back unto Amon ruler of the city, and unto Joash son of the king;
26 ௨௬ அவனைச் சிறைச்சாலையிலே வைத்து, நான் சமாதானத்தோடு திரும்பிவரும்வரை, அவனுக்குக் குறைந்த அளவு அப்பத்தையும், தண்ணீரையும் சாப்பிடக் கொடுங்கள் என்று ராஜா சொன்னார் என்று சொல்லுங்கள் என்றான்.
and ye shall say, Thus, saith the king, Put ye this one into the prison, —and feed him with the bread of oppression, and with the water of oppression, until I return in peace.
27 ௨௭ அப்பொழுது மிகாயா: நீர் சமாதானத்தோடு திரும்பிவந்தால், யெகோவா என்னைக்கொண்டு பேசவில்லை என்று சொல்லி; மக்களே, நீங்கள் எல்லோரும் கேளுங்கள் என்றான்.
Then said Micaiah, If thou do, at all return, in peace, Yahweh hath not spoken by me. And he said, Hear! ye peoples, all!
28 ௨௮ பின்பு இஸ்ரவேலின் ராஜாவும், யூதாவின் ராஜாவாகிய யோசபாத்தும் கீலேயாத்திலுள்ள ராமோத்திற்குப் போனார்கள்.
Then went up the king of Israel, and Jehoshaphat king of Judah, against Ramothgilead.
29 ௨௯ இஸ்ரவேலின் ராஜா யோசபாத்தைப் பார்த்து: நான் மாறுவேடத்தில் போருக்குப் போவேன்; நீரோ ராஜஉடை அணிந்திரும் என்று சொல்லி, இஸ்ரவேலின் ராஜா மாறுவேடத்தில் போருக்குப் போனான்.
And the king of Israel said unto Jehoshaphat, [I am about] to disguise myself, and enter into the battle, but, thou, put on thy robes. So the king of Israel disguised himself, and entered into the battle.
30 ௩0 சீரியாவின் ராஜா தனக்கு இருக்கிற இரதங்களின் தலைவரை நோக்கி: நீங்கள் சிறியவரோடும் பெரியவரோடும் போர்செய்யாமல், இஸ்ரவேலின் ராஜா ஒருவனோடுமாத்திரம் போர்செய்யுங்கள் என்று கட்டளையிட்டிருந்தான்.
Now, the king of Syria, had commanded the captains of chariots which he had, saying, Ye shall not fight, with small [or] with great, —save with the king of Israel, alone.
31 ௩௧ ஆதலால் இரதங்களின் தலைவர் யோசபாத்தைக் கண்டபோது, இவன் தான் இஸ்ரவேலின் ராஜா என்று நினைத்துப் போர்செய்ய அவனை சூழ்ந்துகொண்டார்கள்; அப்பொழுது யோசபாத் கூக்குரலிட்டான்; யெகோவா அவனுக்கு உதவி செய்தார்; அவர்கள் அவனைவிட்டு விலகும்படி தேவன் செய்தார்.
So it came to pass, when the chariot-captains saw Jehoshaphat, that, they, said, The king of Israel, it is. And they compassed him about, to fight, —but Jehoshaphat made outcry, and, Yahweh, helped him, yea God allured them away from him.
And so it came to pass, when the chariot-captains saw that it was not the king of Israel, that they turned back from pursuing him;
33 ௩௩ ஒருவன் தற்செயலாக வில்லை நாணேற்றி எய்தான், அது இஸ்ரவேலின் ராஜாவினுடைய கவசத்தின் சந்துக்கிடையிலேபட்டது; அப்பொழுது அவன் தன் இரத ஓட்டியைப் பார்த்து: நீ திருப்பி என்னை இராணுவத்திற்கு வெளியே கொண்டுபோ, எனக்குக் காயம்பட்டது என்றான்.
but, a certain man, drawing a bow in his innocence, smote the king of Israel between the shoulder-joints and the coat of mail, —wherefore he said to the charioteer, Turn thy hand, and convey me out of the host, for I am sore wounded.
34 ௩௪ அன்றையதினம் போர் அதிகரித்தது; இஸ்ரவேலின் ராஜா சீரியர்களுக்கு எதிராக இரதத்தில் மாலைவரை இருந்து, சூரியன் மறையும்போது இறந்துபோனான்.
But the battle increased on that day, and, the king of Israel, was propping himself up in the chariot before the Syrians, until evening, -and died at the time of the going in of the sun.
