Asa's son Jehoshaphat took over as king. He strengthened his country's defenses against Israel.
2 ௨ அவன் யூதாவின் பாதுகாப்பான பட்டணங்களிலெல்லாம் இராணுவத்தையும், யூதா தேசத்திலும், தன் தகப்பனாகிய ஆசா பிடித்த எப்பிராயீமின் பட்டணங்களிலும் படைவீரர்களையும் ஏற்படுத்தினான்.
He assigned troops to every fortified city of Judah and placed garrisons throughout Judah and in the towns of Ephraim that his father Asa had captured.
3 ௩ யெகோவா யோசபாத்துடன் இருந்தார்; அவன் பாகால்களைத் தேடாமல், தன் தகப்பனாகிய தாவீது முன்நாட்களில் நடந்த வழிகளில் நடந்து,
The Lord supported Jehoshaphat because he followed the ways of his father David. He did not believe in the Baals,
4 ௪ தன் முற்பிதாக்களுடைய தேவனைத் தேடி, இஸ்ரவேலுடைய செய்கையின்படி நடவாமல், அவருடைய கற்பனைகளின்படி நடந்துகொண்டான்.
but worshiped the God of his father and obeyed his commandments, unlike what the kingdom of Israel was doing.
5 ௫ ஆகையால் யெகோவா அவன் கையில் அரசாட்சியை உறுதிப்படுத்தினார்; யூதா கோத்திரத்தார் எல்லோரும் யோசபாத்திற்குக் காணிக்கைகளைக் கொண்டுவந்தார்கள்; அவனுக்கு ஐசுவரியமும் கனமும் அதிகமாயிருந்தது.
So the Lord made Jehoshaphat's hold on the kingdom secure, and all the people of Judah paid their dues to him. As a result he became very wealthy and highly honored.
6 ௬ யெகோவாவுடைய வழிகளில் அவன் இருதயம் உற்சாகம்கொண்டது; அவன் மேடைகளையும் விக்கிரகத் தோப்புகளையும் யூதாவிலிருந்து அகற்றினான்.
He was sincerely committed to what the Lord wanted. He also he removed the high places and Asherah poles from Judah.
7 ௭ அவன் அரசாண்ட மூன்றாம் வருடத்தில் யூதாவின் பட்டணங்களிலே உபதேசம்செய்ய, அவன் தன் பிரபுக்களாகிய பென்னாயிலையும், ஒபதியாவையும், சகரியாவையும் நெதனெயேலையும், மிகாயாவையும்,
In the third year of his reign, Jehoshaphat sent his officials Ben-hail, Obadiah, Zechariah, Nethanel, and Micaiah to teach in the towns of Judah.
8 ௮ இவர்களோடுகூட செமாயா, நெதனியா, செபதியா, ஆசகேல், செமிரமோத், யோனத்தான், அதோனியா, தொபியா, தோபத்தோனியா என்னும் லேவியர்களையும், இவர்களோடுகூட ஆசாரியரான எலிஷாமாவையும், யோராமையும் அனுப்பினான்.
He sent along with the them Levites named Shemaiah, Nethaniah, Zebadiah, Asahel, Shemiramoth, Jehonathan, Adonijah, Tobijah, and Tobadonijah, and with them the priests Elishama and Jehoram.
9 ௯ இவர்கள் யூதாவிலே உபதேசித்து, யெகோவாவுடைய வேதபுத்தகத்தை வைத்துக்கொண்டு, யூதாவின் பட்டணங்களிலெல்லாம் சென்று மக்களுக்குப் போதித்தார்கள்.
Taking with them the Book of the Law of the Lord they taught as they went around Judah. They visited all the towns of Judah, teaching the people.
10 ௧0 யூதாவைச் சுற்றியிருக்கிற தேசங்களுடைய ராஜ்ஜியங்களின் மீது கர்த்தரால் உண்டான பயங்கரம் வந்ததால், யோசபாத்தோடு போர்செய்யாதிருந்தார்கள்.
All the surrounding kingdoms were in awe of the Lord, so that they did not attack Jehoshaphat.
11 ௧௧ பெலிஸ்தரிலும் சிலர் யோசபாத்திற்கு வெகுமதிகளோடுகூடக் காணிக்கைகளையும் கொண்டுவந்தார்கள்; அரபியரும் அவனுக்கு ஏழாயிரத்து எழுநூறு ஆட்டுக்கடாக்களையும், ஏழாயிரத்து எழுநூறு வெள்ளாட்டுக்கடாக்களையும் கொண்டுவந்தார்கள்.
Some of the Philistines even brought him gifts and silver, while the Arabians brought him 7,700 rams and 7,700 goats.
12 ௧௨ இப்படியே யோசபாத் வரவர மிகவும் பெரியவனாகி, யூதாவிலே கோட்டைகளையும், பொருட்களை வைக்கும் பட்டணங்களையும் கட்டினான்.
Jehoshaphat grew increasingly powerful, and he built fortresses and storehouse towns in Judah.
13 ௧௩ யூதாவின் பட்டணங்களில் அவன் பெரிய வேலைகளைச் செய்தான்; எருசலேமிலே பராக்கிரமசாலிகளான சேவகர் அவனுக்கு இருந்தார்கள்.
He maintained a great deal of supplies in the towns of Judah. He also had troops, experienced warriors, in Jerusalem.
14 ௧௪ தங்கள் பிதாக்களுடைய வம்சங்களின்படி அவர்களுடைய எண்ணிக்கையாவது: யூதாவிலே ஆயிரத்திற்கு அதிபதிகளில் அதனா தலைமையானவன்; அவனிடத்திலே பராக்கிரமசாலிகள் மூன்று லட்சம்பேர் இருந்தார்கள்.
This is a count of them, according to their family lines: from Judah, the commanders of thousands: Adnah the commander, and 300,000 mighty warriors with him;
15 ௧௫ அவனுக்கு உதவியாக யோகனான் என்னும் சேனாபதி இருந்தான்; அவனிடத்திலே இரண்டுலட்சத்து எண்பதாயிரம்பேர் இருந்தார்கள்.
then Jehohanan the commander, and 280,000 with him;
16 ௧௬ அவனுக்கு உதவியாக யெகோவாவுக்குத் தன்னை உற்சாகமாக ஒப்புக்கொடுத்த சிக்ரியின் மகனாகிய அமசியா இருந்தான்; அவனிடத்திலே பராக்கிரமசாலிகள் இரண்டு லட்சம்பேர் இருந்தார்கள்.
then Amasiah, son of Zichri, who volunteered to serve the Lord, and 200,000 mighty warriors with him;
17 ௧௭ பென்யமீனிலே எலியாதா என்னும் பராக்கிரமசாலி இருந்தான்; அவனிடத்திலே வில்லும் கேடகமும் பிடிக்கிறவர்கள் இரண்டுலட்சம்பேர் இருந்தார்கள்.
from Benjamin, Eliada, a mighty warrior, and 200,000 with him armed with bows and shields;
18 ௧௮ அவனுக்கு உதவியாக யோசபாத் இருந்தான்; அவனிடத்திலே வேலைசெய்வதற்கு ஆயுதமணிந்த ஒருலட்சத்து எண்பதாயிரம்பேர் இருந்தார்கள்.
then Jehozabad, and 180,000 with him ready for battle;
19 ௧௯ ராஜா யூதா எங்குமுள்ள பாதுகாப்பான பட்டணங்களில் வைத்தவர்களைத்தவிர இவர்களே ராஜாவுக்கு வேலைசெய்தவர்கள்.
These were the men who served the king, in addition those he assigned to the fortified towns throughout Judah.
