And they continued three years without war between Syria and Israel.
And it came to pass in the third year, that Jehoshaphat the king of Judah came down to the king of Israel.
3 ௩ இஸ்ரவேலின் ராஜா தன்னுடைய வேலைக்காரர்களை நோக்கி: கீலேயாத்திலுள்ள ராமோத் நம்முடையதென்று அறியீர்களா? நாம் அதைச் சீரியா ராஜாவின் கையிலிருந்து பிடித்துக்கொள்ளாமல், சும்மாயிருப்பானேன் என்று சொல்லி,
And the king of Israel said to his servants, Know ye that Ramoth in Gilead is ours, and we are still, and take it not out of the hand of the king of Syria?
4 ௪ யோசபாத்தை நோக்கி: கீலேயாத்திலுள்ள ராமோத்தின்மேல் யுத்தம்செய்ய என்னோடு கூட வருகிறீரா என்று கேட்டான். யோசபாத் இஸ்ரவேலின் ராஜாவை நோக்கி: நான்தான் நீர், என்னுடைய மக்கள் உம்முடைய மக்கள், என்னுடைய குதிரைகள் உம்முடைய குதிரைகள் என்றான்.
And he said to Jehoshaphat, Wilt thou go with me to battle to Ramothgilead? And Jehoshaphat said to the king of Israel, I am as thou art, my people as thy people, my horses as thy horses.
5 ௫ பின்னும் யோசபாத் இஸ்ரவேலின் ராஜாவைப் பார்த்து: யெகோவாவுடைய வார்த்தையை இன்றைக்கு விசாரித்து அறியும் என்றான்.
And Jehoshaphat said to the king of Israel, Enquire, I pray thee, at the word of the LORD to day.
6 ௬ அப்பொழுது இஸ்ரவேலின் ராஜா ஏறக்குறைய நானூறு தீர்க்கதரிசிகளைக் கூடிவரச்செய்து: நான் கீலேயாத்திலுள்ள ராமோத்தின்மேல் யுத்தம்செய்யப்போகலாமா, போக வேண்டாமா என்று அவர்களைக் கேட்டதற்கு; அவர்கள், போம், ஆண்டவர் ராஜாவின் கையில் ஒப்புக்கொடுப்பார் என்றார்கள்.
Then the king of Israel gathered the prophets together, about four hundred men, and said to them, Shall I go against Ramothgilead to battle, or shall I forbear? And they said, Go up; for the Lord shall deliver it into the hand of the king.
7 ௭ பின்பு யோசபாத்: நாம் விசாரித்து அறிவதற்கு இவர்களைத் தவிர யெகோவாவுடைய தீர்க்கதரிசி வேறே யாராவது இங்கே இல்லையா என்று கேட்டான்.
And Jehoshaphat said, Is there not here a prophet of the LORD besides, that we may enquire of him?
8 ௮ அப்பொழுது இஸ்ரவேலின் ராஜா, யோசபாத்தை நோக்கி: யெகோவாவிடம் விசாரித்து அறிவதற்கு இம்லாவின் மகனாகிய மிகாயா என்னும் இன்னும் ஒருவன் இருக்கிறான்; ஆனாலும் நான் அவனைப் பகைக்கிறேன்; அவன் என்னைக்குறித்து நன்மையாக அல்ல, தீமையாகவே தீர்க்கதரிசனம் சொல்லுகிறவன் என்றான். அதற்கு யோசபாத், ராஜாவே, அப்படிச் சொல்லவேண்டாம் என்றான்.
And the king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat, There is yet one man, Micaiah the son of Imlah, by whom we may enquire of the LORD: but I hate him; for he doth not prophesy good concerning me, but evil. And Jehoshaphat said, Let not the king say so.
9 ௯ அப்பொழுது இஸ்ரவேலின் ராஜா அதிகாரிகளில் ஒருவனைக் கூப்பிட்டு: இம்லாவின் மகனாகிய மிகாயாவைச் சீக்கிரமாய் அழைத்துவா என்றான்.
Then the king of Israel called an officer, and said, Hasten here Micaiah the son of Imlah.
10 ௧0 இஸ்ரவேலின் ராஜாவும், யூதாவின் ராஜாவாகிய யோசபாத்தும், சமாரியாவின் வாசலுக்கு முன்பாக இருக்கும் திறந்த வெளியிலே ராஜஉடை அணிந்துகொண்டவர்களாக, அவரவர் தம்தம் சிங்காசனத்தில் உட்கார்ந்திருந்தார்கள்; எல்லாத் தீர்க்கதரிசிகளும் அவர்களுக்கு முன்பாகத் தீர்க்கதரிசனம் சொன்னார்கள்.
And the king of Israel and Jehoshaphat the king of Judah sat each on his throne, having put on their robes, in a threshingfloor at the entrance of the gate of Samaria; and all the prophets prophesied before them.
11 ௧௧ கேனானாவின் மகனாகிய சிதேக்கியா தனக்கு இரும்புக்கொம்புகளை உண்டாக்கி, இவைகளால் நீர் சீரியர்களைத் தள்ளி அழித்துப்போடுவீர் என்று யெகோவா சொல்லுகிறார் என்றான்.
And Zedekiah the son of Chenaanah made him horns of iron: and he said, Thus saith the LORD, With these shalt thou push the Syrians, until thou hast consumed them.
12 ௧௨ எல்லாத் தீர்க்கதரிசிகளும் அதற்கு இசைவாகத் தீர்க்கதரிசனம் சொல்லி, கீலேயாத்திலுள்ள ராமோத்துக்குப் நீர் போம், உமக்கு வாய்க்கும்; யெகோவா அதை ராஜாவின் கையில் ஒப்புக்கொடுப்பார் என்றார்கள்.
And all the prophets prophesied so, saying, Go up to Ramothgilead, and prosper: for the LORD shall deliver it into the king’s hand.
13 ௧௩ மிகாயாவை அழைக்கப்போன ஆள் அவனுடன் பேசி: இதோ, தீர்க்கதரிசிகளுடைய வார்த்தைகள் எல்லாம் ராஜாவிற்கு நன்மையாக இருக்கிறது; உம்முடைய வார்த்தையும் அவர்களில் ஒருவர் வார்த்தையைப்போல இருக்கும்படி நன்மையாகச் சொல்லும் என்றான்.
And the messenger that went to call Micaiah spoke to him, saying, Behold now, the words of the prophets declare good to the king with one mouth: let thy word, I pray thee, be like the word of one of them, and speak that which is good.
14 ௧௪ அதற்கு மிகாயா: யெகோவா என்னிடம் சொல்வதையே சொல்லுவேன் என்று யெகோவாவுடைய ஜீவனைக்கொண்டு சொல்லுகிறேன் என்றான்.
And Micaiah said, As the LORD liveth, what the LORD saith to me, that will I speak.
15 ௧௫ அவன் ராஜாவிடம் வந்தபோது, ராஜா அவனைப் பார்த்து: மிகாயாவே, நாங்கள் கீலேயாத்திலுள்ள ராமோத்தின்மேல் யுத்தம்செய்யப் போகலாமா, போகவேண்டாமா என்று கேட்டான். அதற்கு அவன்: நீர் போம், உமக்கு வாய்க்கும்; யெகோவா அதை ராஜாவின் கையில் ஒப்புக்கொடுப்பார்; என்றான்.
So he came to the king. And the king said to him, Micaiah, shall we go against Ramothgilead to battle, or shall we forbear? And he answered him, Go, and prosper: for the LORD shall deliver it into the hand of the king.
16 ௧௬ ராஜா அவனைப் பார்த்து: நீ யெகோவாவுடைய நாமத்தில் உண்மையைத்தவிர வேறொன்றையும் என்னிடம் சொல்லாதபடிக்கு, நான் எத்தனைமுறை உன்னை ஆணையிடச் செய்யவேண்டும் என்று சொன்னான்.
And the king said to him, How many times shall I adjure thee that thou tell me nothing but that which is true in the name of the LORD?
17 ௧௭ அப்பொழுது மிகாயா: இஸ்ரவேலர்கள் எல்லோரும் மேய்ப்பன் இல்லாத ஆடுகளைப்போல மலைகளிலே சிதறப்பட்டதைக் கண்டேன்; அப்பொழுது யெகோவா: இவர்களுக்கு எஜமான் இல்லை; அவரவர் தம்தம் வீட்டிற்குச் சமாதானத்தோடு திரும்பக்கடவர்கள் என்றார் என்று சொன்னான்.
And he said, I saw all Israel scattered upon the hills, as sheep that have not a shepherd: and the LORD said, These have no master: let them return every man to his house in peace.
18 ௧௮ அப்பொழுது இஸ்ரவேலின் ராஜா யோசபாத்தை நோக்கி: இவன் என்னைக் குறித்து நன்மையாக அல்ல, தீமையாகவே தீர்க்கதரிசனம் சொல்லுகிறவன் என்று நான் உம்மோடு சொல்லவில்லையா என்றான்.
And the king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat, Did I not tell thee that he would prophesy no good concerning me, but evil?
19 ௧௯ அப்பொழுது மிகாயா சொன்னது: யெகோவாவுடைய வார்த்தையைக் கேளும்; யெகோவா தம்முடைய சிங்காசனத்தின்மேல் அமர்ந்திருக்கிறதையும், பரமசேனையெல்லாம் அவரிடம் அவரின் வலது பக்கத்திலும், இடது பக்கத்திலும் நிற்கிறதையும் கண்டேன்.
And he said, Hear thou therefore the word of the LORD: I saw the LORD sitting on his throne, and all the host of heaven standing by him on his right hand and on his left.
20 ௨0 அப்பொழுது யெகோவா: ஆகாப் போய், கீலேயாத்திலுள்ள ராமோத்தில் விழும்படி, அவனுக்குப் போதனை செய்கிறவன் யார் என்று கேட்டதற்கு, ஒருவன் இப்படியும் ஒருவன் அப்படியும் சொன்னார்கள்.
And the LORD said, Who shall persuade Ahab, that he may go up and fall at Ramothgilead? And one said in this manner, and another said in that manner.
21 ௨௧ அப்பொழுது ஒரு ஆவி புறப்பட்டு வந்து, யெகோவாவுக்கு முன்பாக நின்று; நான் அவனுக்குப் போதனை செய்வேன் என்றது.
And there came forth a spirit, and stood before the LORD, and said, I will persuade him.
22 ௨௨ எதினால் என்று யெகோவா அதைக் கேட்டார். அப்பொழுது அது: நான் போய், அவனுடைய தீர்க்கதரிசிகள் எல்லோரின் வாயிலும் பொய்யின் ஆவியாக இருப்பேன் என்றது. அதற்கு அவர்: நீ அவனுக்குப் போதனைசெய்து அப்படி நடக்கச்செய்வாய்; போய் அப்படிச் செய் என்றார்.
And the LORD said to him, How? And he said, I will go forth, and I will be a lying spirit in the mouth of all his prophets. And he said, Thou shalt persuade him, and prevail also: go forth, and do so.
23 ௨௩ ஆதலால் யெகோவா பொய்யின் ஆவியை உம்முடைய தீர்க்கதரிசிகளாகிய இவர்கள் எல்லோருடைய வாயிலும் கட்டளையிட்டார்; யெகோவா உம்மைக் குறித்துத் தீமையாகச் சொன்னார் என்றான்.
Now therefore, behold, the LORD hath put a lying spirit in the mouth of all these thy prophets, and the LORD hath spoken evil concerning thee.
24 ௨௪ அப்பொழுது கேனானாவின் மகனாகிய சிதேக்கியா அருகில் வந்து, மிகாயாவைக் கன்னத்தில் அடித்து, யெகோவாவுடைய ஆவி எந்த வழியாக என்னைவிட்டு உன்னோடு பேசும்படி வந்தது என்றான்.
But Zedekiah the son of Chenaanah went near, and smote Micaiah on the cheek, and said, Which way went the Spirit of the LORD from me to speak to thee?
And Micaiah said, Behold, thou shalt see in that day, when thou shalt go into an inner chamber to hide thyself.
26 ௨௬ அப்பொழுது இஸ்ரவேலின் ராஜா: மிகாயாவைப் பிடித்து, அவனைப் பட்டணத்தின் தலைவனாகிய ஆமோனிடத்திற்கும், ராஜாவின் மகனாகிய யோவாசிடத்திற்கும் திரும்பக் கொண்டுபோய்,
And the king of Israel said, Take Micaiah, and carry him back to Amon the governor of the city, and to Joash the king’s son;
27 ௨௭ இவனைச் சிறைச்சாலையிலே வைத்து, நான் சமாதானத்தோடு வரும்வரை, இவனுக்கு கொஞ்சம் அப்பத்தையும் கொஞ்சம் தண்ணீரையும் சாப்பிடக் கொடுங்கள் என்று ராஜா சொன்னார் என்று சொல்லுங்கள் என்றான்.
And say, Thus saith the king, Put this man in the prison, and feed him with bread of affliction and with water of affliction, until I come in peace.
28 ௨௮ அப்பொழுது மிகாயா: நீர் சமாதானத்தோடு திரும்பி வருகிறது உண்டானால், யெகோவா என்னைக்கொண்டு பேசவில்லை என்று சொல்லி; மக்களே, நீங்கள் எல்லோரும் இதைக் கேளுங்கள் என்றான்.
And Micaiah said, If thou shalt return at all in peace, the LORD hath not spoken by me. And he said, Hearken, O people, each one of you.
29 ௨௯ பின்பு இஸ்ரவேலின் ராஜாவாகிய ஆகாபும், யூதாவின் ராஜாவாகிய யோசபாத்தும் கீலேயாத்திலுள்ள ராமோத்துக்குப் போனார்கள்.
So the king of Israel and Jehoshaphat the king of Judah went up to Ramothgilead.
30 ௩0 இஸ்ரவேலின் ராஜா யோசபாத்தை நோக்கி: நான் வேஷம்மாறி யுத்தத்தில் நுழைவேன்; நீரோ ராஜஉடை அணிந்திரும் என்று சொல்லி, இஸ்ரவேலின் ராஜா வேஷம்மாறி, யுத்தத்தில் நுழைந்தான்.
And the king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat, I will disguise myself, and enter into the battle; but put thou on thy robes. And the king of Israel disguised himself, and went into the battle.
31 ௩௧ சீரியாவின் ராஜா தனக்கு இருக்கிற இரதங்களின் முப்பத்திரண்டு தலைவர்களையும் நோக்கி: நீங்கள் சிறியவர்களோடும் பெரியவர்களோடும் யுத்தம்செய்யாமல் இஸ்ரவேலின் ராஜா ஒருவனோடுமாத்திரம் யுத்தம் செய்யுங்கள் என்று கட்டளையிட்டிருந்தான்.
But the king of Syria commanded his thirty and two captains that had rule over his chariots, saying, Fight neither with small nor great, except only with the king of Israel.
32 ௩௨ எனவே, இரதங்களின் தலைவர்கள் யோசபாத்தைக் காணும்போது, இவன்தான் இஸ்ரவேலின் ராஜா என்று சொல்லி யுத்தம்செய்ய அவனுக்கு நேராக வந்தார்கள்; அப்பொழுது யோசபாத் கூக்குரலிட்டான்.
And it came to pass, when the captains of the chariots saw Jehoshaphat, that they said, Surely this is the king of Israel. And they turned aside to fight against him: and Jehoshaphat cried out.
And it came to pass, when the captains of the chariots perceived that he was not the king of Israel, that they turned back from pursuing him.
34 ௩௪ ஒருவன் தெரியாமல் வில்லை நாணேற்றி எய்தான்; அது இஸ்ரவேலின் ராஜாவினுடைய கவசத்தின் சந்துகளுக்குள் பட்டது; அப்பொழுது அவன் தன்னுடைய ரத ஓட்டியைப் பார்த்து; நீ திருப்பி என்னை இராணுவத்திற்கு மறுபுறம் கொண்டுபோ; எனக்குக் காயம்பட்டது என்றான்.
And a certain man drew a bow at a venture, and smote the king of Israel between the joints of his armour: therefore he said to the driver of his chariot, Turn thy hand, and carry me out of the host; for I am wounded.
35 ௩௫ அன்றையதினம் யுத்தம் அதிகரித்தது; ராஜாவைச் சீரியர்களுக்கு எதிராக இரதத்தில் நிறுத்திவைத்தார்கள்; சாயங்காலத்திலே அவன் இறந்துபோனான்; காயத்தின் இரத்தம் இரதத்தின் தட்டிலே வடிந்தது.
And the battle increased that day: and the king was held up in his chariot against the Syrians, and died at evening: and the blood ran out of the wound into the inside of the chariot.
36 ௩௬ பொழுதுபோகும்போது அவரவர் தம்தம் பட்டணத்திற்கும், அவரவர் தம்தம் தேசத்திற்கும் போகலாம் என்று இராணுவத்தில் அறிவிக்கப்பட்டது.
And there went a proclamation throughout the host about the setting of the sun, saying, Every man to his city, and every man to his own country.
37 ௩௭ அப்படியே ராஜா இறந்தபின்பு சமாரியாவுக்குக் கொண்டுவரப்பட்டான்; ராஜாவை சமாரியாவில் அடக்கம்செய்தார்கள்.
So the king died, and was brought to Samaria; and they buried the king in Samaria.
38 ௩௮ அந்த இரதத்தையும் அவனுடைய கவசத்தையும் சமாரியாவின் குளத்திலே கழுவுகிறபோது யெகோவா சொல்லியிருந்த வார்த்தையின்படியே, நாய்கள் அவனுடைய இரத்தத்தை நக்கினது.
And one washed the chariot in the pool of Samaria; and the dogs licked up his blood; and they washed his armour; according to the word of the LORD which he spoke.
39 ௩௯ ஆகாபின் மற்ற செயல்பாடுகளும், அவன் செய்தவைகளும், அவன் கட்டின அரண்மனையின் வரலாறும், அவன் கட்டின எல்லாப் பட்டணங்களின் வரலாறும் இஸ்ரவேல் ராஜாக்களின் நாளாகமப் புத்தகத்தில் எழுதியிருக்கிறது.
Now the rest of the acts of Ahab, and all that he did, and the ivory house which he made, and all the cities that he built, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel?
40 ௪0 ஆகாப் மரணமடைந்து முன்னோர்களோடு அடக்கம் செய்யப்பட்டபின்பு, அவனுடைய மகனாகிய அகசியா அவனுடைய இடத்தில் ராஜாவானான்.
So Ahab slept with his fathers; and Ahaziah his son reigned in his stead.
41 ௪௧ ஆசாவின் மகனாகிய யோசபாத் இஸ்ரவேலின் ராஜாவாகிய ஆகாப் அரசாட்சி செய்த நான்காம் வருடத்தில் யூதாவின்மேல் ராஜாவானான்.
And Jehoshaphat the son of Asa began to reign over Judah in the fourth year of Ahab king of Israel.
42 ௪௨ யோசபாத் ராஜாவாகிறபோது முப்பத்தைந்து வயதாக இருந்து, இருபத்தைந்து வருடங்கள் எருசலேமில் அரசாட்சிசெய்தான்; சில்கியின் மகளாகிய அவனுடைய தாயின்பெயர் அசுபாள்.
Jehoshaphat was thirty and five years old when he began to reign; and he reigned twenty and five years in Jerusalem. And his mother’s name was Azubah the daughter of Shilhi.
43 ௪௩ அவன் தன்னுடைய தகப்பனாகிய ஆசாவின் வழிகளிலெல்லாம் நடந்தான்; அவன் அதைவிட்டு விலகாமல் யெகோவாவின் பார்வைக்குச் செம்மையானதைச் செய்தான்; ஆனாலும் மேடைகள் இடிக்கப்படவில்லை; மக்கள் இன்னும் மேடைகளின்மேல் பலியிட்டுத் தூபம் காட்டிவந்தார்கள்.
And he walked in all the ways of Asa his father; he turned not aside from it, doing that which was right in the eyes of the LORD: nevertheless the high places were not taken away; for the people offered and burnt incense yet in the high places.
And Jehoshaphat made peace with the king of Israel.
45 ௪௫ யோசபாத்தின் மற்ற செயல்பாடுகளும், அவன் காட்டிய வல்லமையும், அவன் செய்த யுத்தமும், யூதாவுடைய ராஜாக்களின் நாளாகமப் புத்தகத்தில் எழுதியிருக்கிறது.
Now the rest of the acts of Jehoshaphat, and his might that he showed, and how he warred, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah?
46 ௪௬ தன்னுடைய தகப்பனாகிய ஆசாவின் நாட்களில் மீதியாக விட்டிருந்த ஆண் விபசாரக்காரர்களையும் அவனுடைய தேசத்திலிருந்து அற்றுப்போகச்செய்தான்.
And the remnant of the sodomites, which remained in the days of his father Asa, he removed from the land.
There was then no king in Edom: a deputy was king.
48 ௪௮ பொன்னுக்காக ஓப்பீருக்குப் போகும்படி, யோசபாத் தர்ஷீஸ் கப்பல்களைச் செய்தான்; ஆனால் அவைகள் போகவில்லை; அவைகள் எசியோன் கேபேரிலே உடைந்துபோனது.
Jehoshaphat made ships of Tharshish to go to Ophir for gold: but they went not; for the ships were broken at Eziongeber.
49 ௪௯ அப்பொழுது ஆகாபின் மகனாகிய அகசியா யோசபாத்தை நோக்கி: என்னுடைய வேலைக்காரர்கள் உம்முடைய வேலைக்காரர்களோடு கப்பல்களில் போகட்டும் என்றான்; அதற்கு யோசபாத் சம்மதிக்கவில்லை.
Then said Ahaziah the son of Ahab to Jehoshaphat, Let my servants go with thy servants in the ships. But Jehoshaphat would not.
50 ௫0 யோசபாத் மரணமடைந்து, தாவீதின் நகரத்தில் தன்னுடைய முன்னோர்களோடு அடக்கம் செய்யப்பட்டான்; அவனுடைய மகனாகிய யோராம் அவனுடைய இடத்தில் ராஜாவானான்.
And Jehoshaphat slept with his fathers, and was buried with his fathers in the city of David his father: and Jehoram his son reigned in his stead.
51 ௫௧ ஆகாபின் மகனாகிய அகசியா யூதாவின் ராஜாவாகிய யோசபாத்தின் பதினேழாம் வருடத்திலே சமாரியாவில் ராஜாவாகி, இஸ்ரவேலின்மேல் இரண்டு வருடங்கள் அரசாட்சிசெய்து,
Ahaziah the son of Ahab began to reign over Israel in Samaria the seventeenth year of Jehoshaphat king of Judah, and reigned two years over Israel.
52 ௫௨ யெகோவாவின் பார்வைக்குத் தீங்கானதைச் செய்து, தன்னுடைய தகப்பன் வழியிலும், தன்னுடைய தாயின் வழியிலும், இஸ்ரவேலைப் பாவம்செய்யச்செய்த நேபாத்தின் மகன் யெரொபெயாமின் வழியிலும் நடந்து,
And he did evil in the sight of the LORD, and walked in the way of his father, and in the way of his mother, and in the way of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, who made Israel to sin:
53 ௫௩ பாகாலை வணங்கி, அதைப் பணிந்துகொண்டு, தன்னுடைய தகப்பன் செய்தபடியெல்லாம் இஸ்ரவேலின் தேவனாகிய யெகோவாவுக்குக் கோபமூட்டினான்.
For he served Baal, and worshipped him, and provoked to anger the LORD God of Israel, according to all that his father had done.
