1 ௧ இவைகளுக்குப் பின்பு, யெஸ்ரயேலனாகிய நாபோத்திற்கு யெஸ்ரயேலிலே சமாரியாவின் ராஜாவாகிய ஆகாபின் அரண்மனையின் அருகில் ஒரு திராட்சைத்தோட்டம் இருந்தது.
And it comes to pass after these things, a vineyard has been to Naboth the Jezreelite, that [is] in Jezreel, near the palace of Ahab king of Samaria,
2 ௨ ஆகாப் நாபோத்தோடு பேசி: உன்னுடைய திராட்சைத்தோட்டம் என்னுடைய வீட்டிற்கு அருகில் இருப்பதால், அதைக் கீரைத்தோட்டமாக்கும்படி எனக்குக் கொடு, அதைவிட நல்ல திராட்சைத்தோட்டத்தை அதற்குப் பதிலாக உனக்குத் தருவேன்; அல்லது உனக்கு வேண்டுமானால், அதின் விலைக்கிரயமான பணத்தைத் தருவேன் என்றான்.
and Ahab speaks to Naboth, saying, “Give your vineyard to me, and it is for a garden of green herbs for me, for it [is] near by my house, and I give to you a better vineyard than it in its stead; if [this is] good in your eyes, I give to you its price [in] silver.”
3 ௩ நாபோத் ஆகாபை நோக்கி: நான் என்னுடைய முன்னோர்களின் சுதந்தரத்தை உமக்குத் தராதபடி யெகோவா என்னைக் காப்பாராக என்றான்.
And Naboth says to Ahab, “Far be it from me, by YHWH, my giving the inheritance of my fathers to you”;
4 ௪ இப்படி என்னுடைய முன்னோர்களின் சுதந்திரத்தை உமக்குக் கொடுக்கமாட்டேன் என்று யெஸ்ரயேலனாகிய நாபோத் தன்னோடு சொன்ன வார்த்தைக்காக ஆகாப் சலிப்பும் கோபமுமாகத் தன்னுடைய வீட்டிற்கு வந்து, சாப்பிட்டாமல், தன்னுடைய கட்டிலின்மேல் படுத்து, தன்னுடைய முகத்தைத் திருப்பிக் கொண்டிருந்தான்.
and Ahab comes to his house, sulky and angry, because of the word that Naboth the Jezreelite has spoken to him when he says, “I do not give the inheritance of my fathers to you,” and he lies down on his bed, and turns around his face, and has not eaten bread.
5 ௫ அப்பொழுது அவனுடைய மனைவியாகிய யேசபேல் அவனிடம் வந்து: நீர் சாப்பிடாதபடி, உம்முடைய மனம் சோர்வாக இருப்பது என்ன என்று அவனைக் கேட்டதற்கு,
And his wife Jezebel comes to him, and speaks to him, “Why [is] this [that] your spirit [is] sulky, and you are not eating bread?”
6 ௬ அவன் அவளைப் பார்த்து: நான் யெஸ்ரயேலனாகிய நாபோத்தோடு பேசி: உன்னுடைய திராட்சைத்தோட்டத்தை எனக்கு விலைக்கிரயமாகக் கொடு; அல்லது உனக்கு பிடித்திருந்தால் அதற்குப் பதிலாக வேறு திராட்சைத்தோட்டத்தை உனக்குத் தருவேன் என்றேன். அதற்கு அவன்: என்னுடைய திராட்சைத்தோட்டத்தை உமக்குக் கொடுக்கமாட்டேன் என்று சொன்னான் என்றான்.
And he says to her, “Because I speak to Naboth the Jezreelite, and say to him, Give your vineyard to me for money, or if you desire, I give a vineyard to you in its stead; and he says, I do not give my vineyard to you.”
7 ௭ அப்பொழுது அவனுடைய மனைவியாகிய யேசபேல் அவனை நோக்கி: நீர் இப்போது இஸ்ரவேலின்மேல் அரசாட்சிசெய்கிறவர் அல்லவா? நீர் எழுந்து சாப்பிட்டு மனமகிழ்ச்சியாக இரும்; யெஸ்ரயேலனாகிய நாபோத்தின் திராட்சைத்தோட்டத்தை நான் உமக்குக் கொடுப்பேன் என்று சொன்னாள்.
And his wife Jezebel says to him, “You now execute rule over Israel! Rise, eat bread, and let your heart be glad—I give the vineyard of Naboth the Jezreelite to you.”
8 ௮ அவள் ஆகாபின் பெயரால் கடிதங்களை எழுதி, அவன் முத்திரையை அவைகளுக்குப் போட்டு, அந்த கடிதங்களை நாபோத் இருக்கும் பட்டணத்தில் அவனோடு குடியிருக்கிற மூப்பர்களிடத்திற்கும் பெரியோர்களிடத்திற்கும் அனுப்பினாள்.
And she writes letters in the name of Ahab, and seals with his seal, and sends the letters to the elderly and to the nobles who are in his city, those dwelling with Naboth,
9 ௯ அந்த கடிதங்களில் அவள் எழுதினது என்னவென்றால்: நீங்கள் உபவாசம் என்று தெரியப்படுத்தி, நாபோத்தை மக்களின் முன்பாக நிறுத்தி,
and she writes in the letters, saying, “Proclaim a fast, and cause Naboth to sit at the head of the people,
10 ௧0 தேவனையும் ராஜாவையும் தூஷித்தாய் என்று அவன்மேல் சாட்சி சொல்லுகிற வஞ்சகமான இரண்டுபேரை அவனுக்கு எதிராக நிறுத்தி, அவனை வெளியே கொண்டுபோய் அவன் சாகும்படி அவன் மீது கல்லெறியுங்கள் என்று எழுதினாள்.
and cause two men—sons of worthlessness—to sit opposite him, and they testify of him, saying, You have blessed [[or cursed]] God and [the] king; and they have brought him out, and stoned him, and he dies.”
11 ௧௧ அவன் பட்டணத்தில் குடியிருக்கிற மூப்பர்களும் பெரியோர்களுமாகிய அவன் பட்டணத்து மனிதர்கள், யேசபேல் தங்களுக்கு அனுப்பின கடிதங்களில் எழுதிக் கட்டளையிட்டிருந்தபடியே செய்தார்கள்.
And the men of his city, the elderly and the nobles who are dwelling in his city, do as Jezebel has sent to them, as written in the letters that she sent to them,
they have proclaimed a fast, and caused Naboth to sit at the head of the people,
13 ௧௩ அப்பொழுது வஞ்சகமான இரண்டுபேர் வந்து, அவனுக்கு எதிராக உட்கார்ந்து: நாபோத் தேவனையும் ராஜாவையும் தூஷித்தான் என்று மக்களுக்கு முன்பாக அவன்மேல் சாட்சி சொன்னார்கள்; அதற்குப்பின்பு அவனைப் பட்டணத்திற்கு வெளியே கொண்டுபோய், அவன் சாகும்படி அவனைக் கல்லெறிந்து,
and two men—sons of worthlessness—come in, and sit opposite him, and the men of worthlessness testify of him, even Naboth, before the people, saying, “Naboth blessed [[or cursed]] God and [the] king”; and they take him out to the outside of the city, and stone him with stones, and he dies;
and they send to Jezebel, saying, “Naboth was stoned, and is dead.”
15 ௧௫ நாபோத் கல்லெறியப்பட்டு செத்ததை யேசபேல் கேட்டபோது, ஆகாபை நோக்கி: நீர் எழுந்து, யெஸ்ரயேலனாகிய நாபோத் உமக்கு விலைக்கிரயமாகக் கொடுக்கமாட்டேன் என்று சொன்ன திராட்சைத்தோட்டத்தைச் சொந்தமாக எடுத்துக்கொள்ளும்; நாபோத் உயிரோடு இல்லை, அவன் செத்துப்போனான் என்றாள்.
And it comes to pass, at Jezebel’s hearing that Naboth has been stoned, and is dead, that Jezebel says to Ahab, “Rise, possess the vineyard of Naboth the Jezreelite, that he refused to give to you for money, for Naboth is not alive but dead.”
16 ௧௬ நாபோத் செத்துப்போனதை ஆகாப் கேட்டபோது, அவன் யெஸ்ரயேலனாகிய நாபோத்தின் திராட்சைத்தோட்டத்தைச் சொந்தமாக எடுத்துக்கொள்ளும்படி எழுந்து போனான்.
And it comes to pass, at Ahab’s hearing that Naboth is dead, that Ahab rises to go down to the vineyard of Naboth the Jezreelite, to possess it.
And the word of YHWH is to Elijah the Tishbite, saying,
18 ௧௮ நீ எழுந்து, சமாரியாவில் இருக்கிற இஸ்ரவேலின் ராஜாவாகிய ஆகாபைச் சந்திக்கும்படி போ; இதோ, அவன் நாபோத்தின் திராட்சைத்தோட்டத்தைச் சொந்தமாக எடுத்துக்கொள்ள அங்கே போயிருக்கிறான்.
“Rise, go down to meet Ahab king of Israel, who [is] in Samaria—behold, in the vineyard of Naboth, to where he has gone down to possess it,
19 ௧௯ நீ அவனைப் பார்த்து: நீ கொலை செய்ததும் எடுத்துக்கொண்டதும் இல்லையோ என்று யெகோவா சொல்லுகிறார்; நாய்கள் நாபோத்தின் இரத்தத்தை நக்கின இடத்திலே உன்னுடைய இரத்தத்தையும் நாய்கள் நக்கும் என்று யெகோவா சொல்லுகிறார் என்று சொல் என்றார்.
and you have spoken to him, saying, Thus said YHWH: Have you murdered, and also possessed? And you have spoken to him, saying, Thus said YHWH: In the place where the dogs licked the blood of Naboth, the dogs lick your blood, even yours.”
20 ௨0 அப்பொழுது ஆகாப் எலியாவை நோக்கி: என்னுடைய பகைவனே, என்னைக் கண்டுபிடித்தாயா என்றான். அதற்கு அவன்: கண்டுபிடித்தேன்; யெகோவாவின் பார்வைக்குத் தீங்கானதைச் செய்ய நீ உன்னை விற்றுப்போட்டாய்.
And Ahab says to Elijah, “Have you found me, O my enemy?” And he says, “I have found—because of your selling yourself to do evil in the eyes of YHWH;
21 ௨௧ நான் உன்மேல் தீங்கு வரச்செய்து, உன்னுடைய சந்ததியை அழித்துப் போட்டு, ஆகாபுக்கு சுவரில் நீர்விடும் ஒரு நாயாவது இல்லாதபடி இஸ்ரவேலில் அடைபட்டவனையும் விடுபட்டவனையும் அழித்து,
behold, I am bringing calamity on you, and have taken away your posterity, and cut off from Ahab those sitting on the wall, and restrained, and left, in Israel,
22 ௨௨ நீ எனக்குக் கோபம் உண்டாக்கி, இஸ்ரவேலைப் பாவம் செய்யச்செய்ததால், உன்னுடைய குடும்பத்தை நேபாத்தின் மகனாகிய யெரொபெயாமின் குடும்பத்திற்கும், அகியாவின் மகனாகிய பாஷாவின் குடும்பத்திற்கும் சமமாக்குவேன் என்றார் என்று சொன்னான்.
and given up your house like the house of Jeroboam son of Nebat, and like the house of Baasha son of Ahijah, for the provocation with which you have provoked [Me], and cause Israel to sin.
And YHWH has also spoken of Jezebel, saying, The dogs eat Jezebel in the bulwark of Jezreel;
24 ௨௪ ஆகாபின் சந்ததியில் பட்டணத்திலே சாகிறவனை நாய்களும், வெளியிலே சாகிறவனை ஆகாயத்துப் பறவைகளும் சாப்பிடும் என்றார்.
the dogs eat him who dies of Ahab in a city, and [the] bird of the heavens eats him who dies in a field;
25 ௨௫ தன்னுடைய மனைவியாகிய யேசபேல் தூண்டிவிட்டபடியே, யெகோவாவின் பார்வைக்குத் தீங்கானதைச் செய்ய, தன்னை விற்றுப்போட்ட ஆகாபைப்போல ஒருவனுமில்லை.
surely there has been none like Ahab, who sold himself to do evil in the eyes of YHWH, whom his wife Jezebel has moved,
26 ௨௬ யெகோவா இஸ்ரவேல் மக்களுக்கு முன்பாக துரத்திவிட்ட எமோரியர்கள் செய்தபடியெல்லாம், அவன் அருவருப்பான விக்கிரகங்களைப் பின்பற்றி, மிகவும் அருவருப்பாய் நடந்துகொண்டான்.
and he does very abominably to go after the idols, according to all that the Amorite did whom YHWH dispossessed from the presence of the sons of Israel.”
27 ௨௭ ஆகாப் இந்த வார்த்தைகளைக் கேட்டபோது, தன்னுடைய ஆடைகளைக் கிழித்து, தன்னுடைய சரீரத்தின்மேல் சணலாடையைப் போர்த்துக்கொண்டு, உபவாசம்செய்து, சணலாடையில் படுத்துத் தாழ்மையாக நடந்துகொண்டான்.
And it comes to pass, at Ahab’s hearing these words, that he tears his garments, and puts sackcloth on his flesh, and fasts, and lies in sackcloth, and goes gently.
And the word of YHWH is to Elijah the Tishbite, saying,
29 ௨௯ ஆகாப் எனக்கு முன்பாகத் தன்னைத் தாழ்த்தியதைக் கண்டாயா? அவன் எனக்கு முன்பாகத் தன்னைத் தாழ்த்துகிறதால், நான் அவனுடைய நாட்களில் அந்த அழிவை வரச்செய்யாமல், அவனுடைய மகனுடைய நாட்களில் அதை அவனுடைய வீட்டின்மேல் வரச்செய்வேன் என்றார்.
“Have you seen that Ahab has been humbled before Me? Because that he has been humbled before Me, I do not bring in the calamity in his days; I bring in the calamity on his house in the days of his son.”
