1 கொரிந்தியர் 8
1 ௧ விக்கிரகங்களுக்குப் படைக்கப்பட்டவைகளைக்குறித்த விஷயத்தில், நம்மெல்லோருக்கும் அறிவு உண்டென்று நமக்குத் தெரியுமே. அறிவு இறுமாப்பை உண்டாக்கும், அன்போ பக்திவளர்ச்சியை உண்டாக்கும்.
Now, concerning the idol-sacrifices, we are aware—because we, all, have knowledge, —knowledge, puffeth up, but, love, buildeth up;
2 ௨ ஒருவன் தான் ஏதேனும் ஒன்றை அறிந்தவனென்று எண்ணிக்கொள்வானானால், ஒன்றையும் அறியவேண்டிய விதத்தில் அவன் இன்னும் அறியவில்லை.
If anyone thinketh that he knoweth anything, not yet knoweth he, as he must needs come to know,
But, if anyone loveth God, the same, is known of him—
4 ௪ விக்கிரகங்களுக்குப் படைக்கப்பட்டவைகளைச் சாப்பிடுகிற விஷயத்தைப்பற்றி, உலகத்திலே விக்கிரகமானது ஒன்றுமில்லையென்றும் ஒருவரேதவிர வேறொரு தேவன் இல்லையென்றும் அறிந்திருக்கிறோம்.
Concerning, then, the eating of idol-sacrifices, we are aware—that an idol is, nothing, in the world, and that, none, is God save one.
5 ௫ வானத்திலேயும் பூமியிலேயும் தேவர்கள் எனப்படுகிறவர்கள் உண்டு; இப்படி அநேக தேவர்களும் அநேக ஆண்டவன்மார்களும் உண்டாயிருந்தாலும்,
For, if indeed there are so-called gods, whether in heaven or upon earth, —as indeed there are gods many and lords many,
6 ௬ பிதாவாகிய ஒரே தேவன் நமக்கு உண்டு, அவராலே அனைத்தும் உண்டாயிருக்கிறது; அவருக்கென்று நாமும் உண்டாயிருக்கிறோம். இயேசுகிறிஸ்து என்னும் ஒரே கர்த்தரும் நமக்கு உண்டு; அவர் மூலமாக அனைத்தும் உண்டாயிருக்கிறது, அவர் மூலமாக நாமும் உண்டாயிருக்கிறோம்.
[Yet], to us, there is one God the Father, of whom are all things, and, we, for him; and one Lord Jesus Christ, through whom are all things, and, we, through him.
7 ௭ ஆனாலும், இந்த அறிவு எல்லோரிடத்திலும் இல்லை. சிலர் இன்றையவரைக்கும் விக்கிரகத்தை ஒரு பொருளென்று எண்ணி, விக்கிரகத்திற்குப் படைக்கப்பட்டதைச் சாப்பிடுகிறார்கள்; அவர்களுடைய மனச்சாட்சி பலவீனமாக இருப்பதால் அசுத்தமாக்கப்படுகிறது.
Howbeit, not in all, is the knowledge; but, some, by their familiarity, until even now, with the idol, as an idol-sacrifice, eat it, and, their conscience, being, weak, is defiled.
8 ௮ உணவானது நம்மை தேவனுக்கு உகந்தவர்களாக்கமாட்டாது ஏனென்றால், சாப்பிடுவதினால் நமக்கு ஒரு மேன்மையும் இல்லை, சாப்பிடாமல் இருப்பதினால் நமக்கு ஒரு குறைவும் இல்லை.
Food, indeed, will not commend us unto God, —neither, if we eat not, do we lack, nor, if we eat, do we abound.
9 ௯ ஆனாலும் இதைக்குறித்து உங்களுக்கு உண்டாயிருக்கிற அதிகாரம் எவ்விதத்திலும் பலவீனர்களுக்கு இடையூறு வராதபடிக்குப் பாருங்கள்.
But be taking heed, lest, by any means, your right, itself, become, an occasion of stumbling, unto the weak;
10 ௧0 எப்படியென்றால், அறிவுள்ளவனாகிய நீ விக்கிரகக் கோவிலிலே சாப்பிடுவதை ஒருவன் பார்த்தால், பலவீனனாக இருக்கிற அவனுடைய மனச்சாட்சி விக்கிரகங்களுக்குப் படைக்கப்பட்டவைகளை சாப்பிடுவதற்குத் துணிவு கொள்ளுமல்லவா?
For, if anyone should see [thee] who hast knowledge, in an idol-temple, reclining, will not, his conscience, being, weak, be built up for the eating of the idol-sacrifices?
In fact, he that is weak, is being destroyed, by thy knowledge—the brother for whose sake Christ died.
12 ௧௨ இப்படிச் சகோதரர்களுக்கு விரோதமாகப் பாவம்செய்து, பலவீனமுள்ள அவர்களுடைய மனச்சாட்சியை வருத்தப்படுத்துகிறதினாலே, நீங்கள் கிறிஸ்துவிற்கு விரோதமாகப் பாவம் செய்கிறீர்கள்.
But, in thus sinning against the brethren am wounding their conscience, seeing it is weak, against Christ, are ye sinning.
13 ௧௩ ஆதலால் மாம்சம் சாப்பிடுவது என் சகோதரனுக்கு இடறல் உண்டாக்கினால், நான் என் சகோதரனுக்கு இடறல் உண்டாக்காதபடிக்கு, என்றைக்கும் மாம்சம் சாப்பிடாமல் இருப்பேன். (aiōn g165)
Therefore, if food is an occasion of stumbling unto my brother, in nowise will I eat flesh unto the age that abideth, —that, I may not occasion, my brother, to stumble. (aiōn g165)
