தீத்து 1

1 பவுலாகிய நான் இறைவனின் ஊழியனாகவும், இயேசுகிறிஸ்துவின் அப்போஸ்தலனாகவும் இருக்கிறேன். நான் இறைவனால் தெரிந்துகொள்ளப்பட்டவர்களுடைய விசுவாசத்திற்காகவும், இறை பக்திக்கு வழிநடத்தும் சத்தியத்தைப் பற்றிய அறிவிற்காகவுமே இந்த ஊழியத்தில் ஈடுபட்டிருக்கிறேன்.

PAUL, a servant of God, and a legate of Jesus the Messiah; according to the faith of the elect of God, and the knowledge of the truth which is in the fear of God,

2 இந்த விசுவாசமும் அறிவும் நித்திய வாழ்வைப் பெற்றுக்கொள்கிற எதிர்பார்ப்பில் தங்கியிருக்கிறது. பொய் சொல்லாத இறைவன் இந்த நித்திய வாழ்வை காலம் தொடங்கும் முன்னதாகவே வாக்குப்பண்ணினார். (aiōnios g166)

concerning the hope of eternal life, which the veracious God promised before the times of the world; (aiōnios g166)

3 இப்பொழுது அவரால் நியமிக்கப்பட்ட காலத்தில், தம்முடைய வார்த்தையை வெளியரங்கமாக்கினார். நம்முடைய இரட்சகராகிய இறைவனுடைய கட்டளையினாலேயே என்னிடம் ஒப்படைக்கப்பட்ட பிரசங்கத்தின் மூலமாய் இது வெளியரங்கமாக்கப்பட்டது.

and in due time he hath manifested his word, by means of our announcement, which was confided to me by the command of God our Life-giver;

4 பவுலாகிய நான் நமது பொதுவான விசுவாசத்தில் என் உண்மையுள்ள மகனான தீத்துவுக்கு எழுதுகிறதாவது: பிதாவாகிய இறைவனாலும், இரட்சகராகிய கிறிஸ்து இயேசுவினாலும் கிருபையும் சமாதானமும் உண்டாவதாக.

to Titus, a real son after the common faith: Grace and peace from God our Father, and from our Lord Jesus the Messiah, our Life-giver.

5 கிரேத்தா தீவில் முடிவுபெறாதிருக்கிற வேலைகளை, ஒழுங்குபடுத்தி முடிப்பதற்காகவே நான் உன்னை அங்கு விட்டுவந்தேன். நான் உனக்குக் கூறியதுபோல, எல்லாப் பட்டணங்களிலும் நீ சபைத்தலைவர்களை நியமி.

For this cause left I thee in Crete, that thou mightest regulate the things deficient, and establish elders in every city, as I directed thee:

6 ஒரு சபைத்தலைவன் குற்றம் காணப்படாதவனாகவும், ஒரே மனைவியை மட்டும் உடைய கணவனாகவும் இருக்கவேண்டும். அவனுடைய பிள்ளைகளும் முரட்டுகுணமுடையவர்கள் என்றோ, கீழ்ப்படியாதவர்கள் என்றோ குற்றம் சாட்டப்படுகிறவர்களாய் இருக்கக்கூடாது. ஆனால் அவர்கள் விசுவாசிகளாய் இருக்கவேண்டும்.

him who is blameless, who is the husband of one wife, and hath believing children, who are no revellers, nor ungovernable in sensuality.

7 ஏனெனில், ஒரு திருச்சபைக்குப் பொறுப்பாயிருக்கும் ஊழியன், இறைவனின் வேலை அவனுக்கு ஒப்புக்கொடுக்கப்பட்டு இருப்பதால், அவன் குற்றம் காணப்படாதவனாக இருக்கவேண்டும். அவன் கர்வம் பிடித்தவனாகவோ, முற்கோபம் உள்ளவனாகவோ, மதுபான வெறிக்கு அடிமையானவனாகவோ இருக்கக்கூடாது. அவன் வன்முறையில் ஈடுபடுகிறவனாகவோ, நேர்மையற்ற முறையில் இலாபம் ஈட்டுகிறவனாகவோ இருக்கக்கூடாது.

For an elder ought to be blameless, as the steward of God; and not be self-willed, nor irascible, nor excessive in wine, nor with hands swift to strike, nor a lover of base gains.

8 அவன் மற்றவர்களை உபசரிக்கிறவனாகவும், நன்மையை நேசிக்கிறவனாகவும், சுயக்கட்டுப்பாடு உடையவனாகவும், நீதிமானாகவும் இருக்கவேண்டும். அவன் பரிசுத்தமுள்ளவனாகவும், ஒழுக்கமுடையவனாகவும் இருக்கவேண்டும்.

But he should be a lover of strangers, and a lover of good deeds, and be sober, upright, kind-hearted, and restraining himself from evil passions;

9 தனக்குப் போதித்துக் கொடுக்கப்பட்ட நம்பத்தக்க இந்தச் செய்தியை அவன் உறுதியாய் நம்பியிருக்கவேண்டும். அப்பொழுதே அவன் ஆரோக்கியமான போதனையினால் மற்றவர்களை உற்சாகப்படுத்துவான். அதற்கு முரண்பாடாய் இருக்கிறவர்களையும் எதிர்த்துச் சரியானதை எடுத்துச்சொல்வான்.

and studious of the doctrine of the word of faith, that he may be able by his wholesome teaching both to console, and to rebuke them that are contentious.

10 ஏனெனில், அநேகர் சரியான போதனையை ஏற்றுக்கொள்ளாதவர்களாய் இருக்கிறார்கள். இவர்கள் பயனற்றவைகளைப் பேசுகிறவர்களும், ஏமாற்றுகிறவர்களுமாய் இருக்கிறார்கள். விசேஷமாக விருத்தசேதனத்தை வலியுறுத்துகிறவர்கள் இப்படியானவர்களாய் இருக்கிறார்கள்.

For many are unsubmissive, and their discourses vain; and they mislead the minds of people, especially such as are of the circumcision.

11 அவர்களுடைய வாய்களை அடக்கவேண்டும். ஏனெனில் அவர்கள் போதிக்கக்கூடாத காரியங்களை போதித்து, முழுக் குடும்பங்களையும் பாழாக்குகிறார்கள். இழிவான விதத்தில் தாங்கள் ஆதாயம் பெறவே, இப்படிச் செய்கிறார்கள்.

The mouth of these ought to be stopped: they corrupt many families; and they teach what they ought not, for the sake of base gains.

12 அவர்களைச் சேர்ந்த ஒரு தீர்க்கதரிசியே அவர்களைக்குறித்து, “கிரேத்தா தீவைச் சேர்ந்தவர்கள் எப்பொழுதும் பொய் பேசுகிறார்கள். அவர்கள் கொடிய மிருகங்கள். சோம்பேறிகளான உணவுப்பிரியர்” என்று கூறியிருக்கிறான்.

One of them, a prophet of their own, said, The Cretans are always mendacious, evil beasts, idle bellies.

13 இந்த சாட்சி உண்மையானதே. ஆகவே அவர்களைக் கடுமையாய் கடிந்துகொள். அப்பொழுதுதான் அவர்கள் விசுவாசத்தில் உறுதியுடையவர்களாய் இருந்து,

And this testimony is true. Therefore chide them sharply; that they may be sound in the faith,

14 யூதருடைய கட்டுக் கதைகளுக்கும், சத்தியத்தைப் புறக்கணிப்பவர்களின் கட்டளைகளுக்கும் செவிகொடாதிருப்பார்கள்.

and may not throw themselves into Jewish fables, and into the precepts of men who hate the truth.

15 தூய்மையானவர்களுக்கு எல்லாம் தூய்மையானதே. ஆனால் சீர்கெட்டுப் போனவர்களுக்கும், விசுவாசிக்காதவர்களுக்கும் எதுவுமே தூய்மையானதல்ல. உண்மையாகவே அவர்களுடைய புத்தியும் மனசாட்சியும் சீர்கெட்டிருக்கின்றன.

For to the pure, every thing is pure; but to them who are defiled and unbelieving, nothing is pure; but their understanding is defiled, and their conscience.

16 அவர்கள் தாங்கள் இறைவனை அறிந்திருப்பதாகச் சொல்லுகிறார்கள். ஆனால் அவர்களுடைய செயல்களினாலேயே, இறைவனை மறுதலிக்கிறார்கள். அவர்கள் அருவருப்புக்குரியவர்கள், கீழ்ப்படியாதவர்கள், நன்மையான எதையுமே செய்யத் தகுதியற்றவர்கள்.

And they profess that they know God, but in their works they deny him; and they are odious, and disobedient, and to every good work reprobates.
