சங்கீதம் 137

1 பாபிலோனின் ஆறுகள் அருகே நாங்கள் உட்கார்ந்து, சீயோனை நினைத்தபோது அழுதோம்.

By the riuers of Babel we sate, and there wee wept, when we remembred Zion.

2 அங்கே இருந்த ஆற்றலறிச் செடிகளின்மேல் எங்கள் கின்னரங்களைத் தொங்கவிட்டோம்.

Wee hanged our harpes vpon the willowes in the middes thereof.

3 ஏனெனில் எங்களைச் சிறைப்பிடித்தவர்கள், அங்கே எங்களைப் பாடும்படி கேட்டார்கள்; எங்களைச் சித்திரவதை செய்தவர்கள் மகிழ்ச்சிப் பாடல்களைப் பாடும்படி வற்புறுத்தி, “சீயோனின் பாடல்களுள் ஒன்றை எங்களுக்காகப் பாடுங்கள்” என்று சொன்னார்கள்.

Then they that ledde vs captiues, required of vs songs and mirth, when wee had hanged vp our harpes, saying, Sing vs one of the songs of Zion.

4 வேறுநாட்டு மண்ணில் இருக்கையில் யெகோவாவின் பாடல்களை எங்களால் எப்படிப் பாடமுடியும்?

Howe shall we sing, said we, a song of the Lord in a strange land?

5 எருசலேமே! நான் உன்னை மறந்தால், என் வலதுகை அதின் திறமையை மறப்பதாக.

If I forget thee, O Ierusalem, let my right hand forget to play.

6 நான் உன்னை நினையாவிட்டால், எருசலேமை எனது மேலான மகிழ்ச்சியாகக் நான் கருதாவிட்டால், என் நாவு என் மேல்வாயோடு ஒட்டிக்கொள்வதாக.

If I do not remember thee, let my tongue cleaue to the roofe of my mouth: yea, if I preferre not Ierusalem to my chiefe ioy.

7 யெகோவாவே! எருசலேம் கைப்பற்றபட்ட நாளிலே ஏதோமியர் செய்தவற்றை நினைவுகூரும்; “அதை இடித்துப்போடுங்கள், அதின் அஸ்திபாரங்கள்வரை அதை இடித்துப்போடுங்கள்!” என்று சொன்னார்களே.

Remember the children of Edom, O Lord, in the day of Ierusalem, which saide, Rase it, rase it to the foundation thereof.

8 பாபிலோன் மகளே, அழிவுக்கு ஒப்படைக்கப்பட்டவளே, நீ எங்களுக்குச் செய்தவற்றுக்காக உனக்குப் பதில் செய்கிறவர்கள் ஆசீர்வதிக்கப்படுவார்கள்.

O daughter of Babel, worthy to be destroyed, blessed shall he be that rewardeth thee, as thou hast serued vs.

9 உன் குழந்தைகளைப் பிடித்து, அவர்களைப் பாறைகளின்மேல் மோதியடிக்கிறவர்கள் ஆசீர்வதிக்கப்படுவார்கள்.

Blessed shall he be that taketh and dasheth thy children against the stones.
