சங்கீதம் 127

1 சீயோன் மலை ஏறும்போது பாடும் சாலொமோனின் பாடல். யெகோவா வீட்டைக் கட்டவில்லையென்றால், அதைக் கட்டுகிறவர்களின் உழைப்பு வீண்; யெகோவா நகரத்தின்மேல் கண்காணிப்பாய் இருக்கவில்லையென்றால், காவலர் அதைக் காவல் செய்வதும் வீண்.

A Song of the Ascents, by Solomon. If Jehovah doth not build the house, In vain have its builders laboured at it, If Jehovah doth not watch a city, In vain hath a watchman waked.

2 நீங்கள் சாப்பிடும் உணவுக்காக அதிகாலையில் எழுந்து, நித்திரையின்றி நீண்டநேரம் உழைப்பதும் வீண்; ஏனெனில் அவர் தாம் நேசிக்கிறவர்களுக்கு அவர்கள் தூங்கும்போதும்கூட தேவையைத் தருகிறார்.

Vain for you who are rising early, Who delay sitting, eating the bread of griefs, So He giveth to His beloved one sleep.

3 பிள்ளைகள் யெகோவாவிடமிருந்து கிடைக்கும் உரிமைச்சொத்து; பிள்ளைகள் அவரிடமிருந்து கிடைக்கும் வெகுமதியே.

Lo, an inheritance of Jehovah [are] sons, A reward [is] the fruit of the womb.

4 ஒருவன் தன் வாலிபப் பருவத்தில் பெற்றெடுக்கும் பிள்ளைகள் போர்வீரனின் கைகளில் இருக்கும் அம்புகளைப்போல் இருக்கிறார்கள்.

As arrows in the hand of a mighty one, So [are] the sons of the young men.

5 இவ்வித அம்புகளால் தன் அம்புக்கூட்டை நிரப்பிய மனிதன் ஆசீர்வதிக்கப்பட்டவன்; நீதிமன்றத்தில் தங்கள் பகைவரோடு வாதாடும்போது, அவர்கள் வெட்கப்படமாட்டார்கள்.

O the happiness of the man Who hath filled his quiver with them, They are not ashamed, For they speak with enemies in the gate!
