நெகேமியா 1
1 அகலியாவின் மகன் நெகேமியாவின் வார்த்தைகள்: அர்தசஷ்டா அரசாண்ட இருபதாம் வருடம், கிஸ்லேயு மாதத்தில் நான் சூசான் அரண்மனையில் இருந்தேன்.
The words of Nehemiah the son of Hachaliah. And it came to pass in the month Chislev, in the twentieth year, as I was in Shushan the fortress,
2 அப்பொழுது எனது சகோதரருள் ஒருவனான ஆனானி யூதாவிலிருந்து வேறுசில மனிதருடன் வந்தான்; நான் அவர்களிடம், நாடுகடத்தப்பட்டவர்களில் தப்பியிருக்கும் யூதரைப் பற்றியும், எருசலேமைப் பற்றியும் விசாரித்தேன்.
that Hanani, one of my brethren, came, he and [certain] men of Judah. And I asked them concerning the Jews that had escaped, who were left of the captivity, and concerning Jerusalem.
3 அவர்கள் என்னிடம், “நாடுகடத்தப்பட்டு மாகாணங்களுக்குத் திரும்பிவந்திருப்பவர்கள் மிகுந்த கஷ்டத்துடனும், அவமானத்துடனும் வாழ்கிறார்கள். எருசலேமின் மதிலும் உடைக்கப்பட்டிருக்கிறது; அதன் வாசல் கதவுகளும் எரிக்கப்பட்டுள்ளன” என்றார்கள்.
And they said to me, Those who remain, that are left of the captivity there in the province, are in great affliction and reproach; and the wall of Jerusalem is in ruins, and its gates are burned with fire.
4 இவற்றைக் கேட்டபோது நான் உட்கார்ந்து அழுதேன். சிலநாட்கள் நான் பரலோகத்தின் இறைவனுக்கு முன்பாகத் துக்கப்பட்டு உபவாசித்து மன்றாடினேன்.
And it came to pass, when I heard these words, that I sat and wept, and mourned for days, and fasted, and prayed before the God of the heavens,
5 பின்பு நான், “யெகோவாவே, பரலோகத்தின் இறைவனே, மகத்துவமுள்ளவரும் பயபக்திக்குரிய இறைவனே, உம்மில் அன்பாய் இருந்து, உமது கட்டளைகளுக்குக் கீழ்ப்படிகிறவர்களுடன் உமது அன்பின் உடன்படிக்கையைக் காத்துக்கொள்கிறவரே,
and said, I beseech thee, Jehovah, God of the heavens, the great and terrible God, that keepeth covenant and mercy for them that love him and keep his commandments.
6 உமது அடியவர்களாகிய இஸ்ரயேல் மக்களுக்காக நான் உமக்கு முன்பாக இரவும் பகலும் மன்றாடுகிறேன். நானும் என் முற்பிதாக்களின் குடும்பமுமான இஸ்ரயேலராகிய நாங்கள் உமக்கு விரோதமாய் செய்த பாவங்களை நான் அறிக்கையிடுகிற உமது அடியவனான என் மன்றாட்டைக் கேட்க, உமது செவி கேட்டும், உமது கண்கள் திறந்தும் இருப்பதாக.
Let thine ear now be attentive, and thine eyes open, to hear the prayer of thy servant, which I pray before thee at this time, day and night, for the children of Israel thy servants, confessing the sins of the children of Israel, which we have sinned against thee: both I and my father's house have sinned.
7 உமக்கு முன்பாக நாங்கள் மிகவும் கொடியவர்களாய் நடந்தோம். நீர் உமது அடியவன் மோசேக்குக் கொடுத்த கட்டளைகளுக்கும், விதிமுறைகளுக்கும், சட்டங்களுக்கும் நாங்கள் கீழ்ப்படியவில்லை.
We have acted very perversely against thee, and have not kept the commandments, nor the statutes, nor the ordinances that thou commandedst thy servant Moses.
8 “நீர் உமது அடியவனான மோசேக்குக் கொடுத்த வார்த்தைகளை நினைவில்கொள்ளும். நீர் மோசேயிடம், ‘நீங்கள் உண்மையற்றவர்களாயிருந்தால் பிற நாட்டு மக்களுக்குள்ளே நான் உங்களைச் சிதறடிப்பேன்.
Remember, I beseech thee, the word that thou commandedst thy servant Moses, saying, If ye act unfaithfully, I will scatter you among the peoples;
9 ஆனால் நீங்கள் என்னிடம் திரும்பிவந்து என் கட்டளைகளுக்குக் கீழ்ப்படிந்தால், உங்கள் மக்களில் நாடு கடத்தப்பட்டவர்கள் அடிவானத்தின் தொலைதூரத்தில் இருந்தாலும்கூட, நான் அங்கிருந்தும் கொண்டுவருவேன்; நான் அவர்களைக் கூட்டிச்சேர்த்து என்னுடைய பெயருக்கென இருப்பிடமாக நான் தெரிந்துகொண்ட இவ்விடத்திற்குக் கொண்டுவருவேன்’ என்றீரே.
but if ye return to me, and keep my commandments and do them, though there were of you cast out unto the uttermost part of the heavens, yet will I gather them from thence, and will bring them unto the place that I have chosen to set my name there.
10 “அவர்கள் உம்முடைய அடியவர்களும் உமது மக்களும், உமது மிகுந்த வல்லமையினாலும் பலத்த கரத்தினாலும் நீர் மீட்டுக்கொண்டவர்களும் ஆவர்.
And they are thy servants and thy people, whom thou hast redeemed by thy great power and by thy strong hand.
11 யெகோவாவே, உமது அடியவனின் ஜெபத்தையும், உமது பெயரில் பயபக்தியாய் இருப்பதில் மகிழ்ச்சியடையும் உமது அடியார்களின் மன்றாட்டையும் செவிகொடுத்துக் கேளும்; இந்த மனிதனின் முன் எனக்கு தயவு கிடைக்கப்பண்ணி இன்று எனக்கு வெற்றியைத் தாரும்” என்று மன்றாடினேன். அந்நாட்களில் நான் அரசனுக்கு திராட்சை இரசம் பரிமாறுகிறவனாயிருந்தேன்.
O Lord, I beseech thee, let now thine ear be attentive to the prayer of thy servant, and to the prayer of thy servants who delight to fear thy name; and prosper, I pray thee, thy servant this day, and grant him mercy in the sight of this man. Now I was the king's cupbearer.
