மத்தேயு 1
1 இயேசுகிறிஸ்துவின் வம்சவரலாறு; இவர் ஆபிரகாமின் வம்சத்தானாகிய தாவீதின் வம்சத்தினராவார்.
Book of the generation of Jesus Christ, Son of David, Son of Abraham.
2 ஆபிரகாம் ஈசாக்கின் தகப்பன், ஈசாக்கு யாக்கோபின் தகப்பன், யாக்கோபு யூதாவுக்கும் அவன் சகோதரர்களுக்கும் தகப்பன்,
Abraham begat Isaac; and Isaac begat Jacob, and Jacob begat Juda and his brethren;
3 யூதா பாரேஸுக்கும் சாராவுக்கும் தகப்பன், அவர்களின் தாய் தாமார், பாரேஸ் எஸ்ரோமுக்குத் தகப்பன், எஸ்ரோம் ஆராமுக்குத் தகப்பன்,
and Juda begat Phares and Zara of Thamar; and Phares begat Esrom, and Esrom begat Aram,
4 ஆராம் அம்மினதாபின் தகப்பன், அம்மினதாப் நகசோனின் தகப்பன், நகசோன் சல்மோனின் தகப்பன்,
and Aram begat Aminadab, and Aminadab begat Naasson, and Naasson begat Salmon,
5 சல்மோன் போவாஸின் தகப்பன், போவாஸினுடைய தாய் ராகாப், போவாஸ் ஓபேத்தின் தகப்பன், ஓபேத்தினுடைய தாய் ரூத், ஓபேத் ஈசாயின் தகப்பன்,
and Salmon begat Booz of Rachab; and Booz begat Obed of Ruth; and Obed begat Jesse,
6 ஈசாய் தாவீது அரசனுக்குத் தகப்பன். தாவீது சாலொமோனுக்குத் தகப்பன், இவனது தாய் உரியாவின் மனைவியாயிருந்தவள்.
and Jesse begat David the king. And David begat Solomon, of her [that had been the wife] of Urias;
7 சாலொமோன் ரெகொபெயாமுக்குத் தகப்பன், ரெகொபெயாம் அபியாவுக்குத் தகப்பன், அபியா ஆசாவுக்குத் தகப்பன்,
and Solomon begat Roboam, and Roboam begat Abia, and Abia begat Asa,
8 ஆசா யோசபாத்தின் தகப்பன், யோசபாத் யோராமுக்குத் தகப்பன், யோராம் உசியாவின் தகப்பன்,
and Asa begat Josaphat, and Josaphat begat Joram, and Joram begat Ozias,
9 உசியா யோதாமின் தகப்பன், யோதாம் ஆகாஸின் தகப்பன், ஆகாஸ் எசேக்கியாவின் தகப்பன்,
and Ozias begat Joatham, and Joatham begat Achaz, and Achaz begat Ezekias,
10 எசேக்கியா மனாசேயின் தகப்பன், மனாசே ஆமோனின் தகப்பன், ஆமோன் யோசியாவின் தகப்பன்,
and Ezekias begat Manasses, and Manasses begat Amon, and Amon begat Josias,
11 யோசியா எகோனியாவுக்கும் அவன் சகோதரர்களுக்கும் தகப்பன். அக்காலத்தில் யூதர்கள் பாபிலோனுக்கு நாடுகடத்தப்பட்டார்கள்.
and Josias begat Jechonias and his brethren, at the time of the carrying away of Babylon.
12 பாபிலோனுக்கு நாடுகடத்தப்பட்டபின்: எகோனியா சலாத்தியேலுக்குத் தகப்பனானான், சலாத்தியேல் செருபாபேலுக்குத் தகப்பன்,
And after the carrying away of Babylon, Jechonias begat Salathiel, and Salathiel begat Zorobabel,
13 செருபாபேல் அபியூதுக்குத் தகப்பன், அபியூத் எலியாக்கீமுக்குத் தகப்பன், எலியாக்கீம் ஆசோருக்குத் தகப்பன்,
and Zorobabel begat Abiud, and Abiud begat Eliakim, and Eliakim begat Azor,
14 ஆசோர் சாதோக்கிற்குத் தகப்பன், சாதோக் ஆகீமிற்குத் தகப்பன், ஆகீம் எலியூத்திற்குத் தகப்பன்,
and Azor begat Sadoc, and Sadoc begat Achim, and Achim begat Eliud,
15 எலியூத் எலெயாசாருக்குத் தகப்பன், எலெயாசார் மாத்தானுக்குத் தகப்பன், மாத்தான் யாக்கோபுக்குத் தகப்பன்,
and Eliud begat Eliazar, and Eliazar begat Matthan, and Matthan begat Jacob,
16 யாக்கோபு யோசேப்புக்குத் தகப்பன், யோசேப்பு மரியாளின் கணவன், மரியாளிடம் கிறிஸ்து எனப்படுகிற இயேசு பிறந்தார்.
and Jacob begat Joseph, the husband of Mary, of whom was born Jesus, who is called Christ.
17 இவ்வாறு ஆபிரகாமிலிருந்து தாவீதுவரை பதினான்கு தலைமுறைகளும், தாவீதிலிருந்து பாபிலோனுக்கு நாடுகடத்தப்படும்வரை பதினான்கு தலைமுறைகளும், பாபிலோனுக்கு நாடுகடத்தப்பட்டதில் இருந்து கிறிஸ்துவரை பதினான்கு தலைமுறைகளும் இருந்தன.
All the generations, therefore, from Abraham to David [were] fourteen generations; and from David until the carrying away of Babylon, fourteen generations; and from the carrying away of Babylon unto the Christ, fourteen generations.
18 இயேசுகிறிஸ்துவின் பிறப்பு இவ்வாறு நிகழ்ந்தது: இயேசுவின் தாய் மரியாள் யோசேப்பைத் திருமணம் செய்வதற்கென நிச்சயிக்கப்பட்டிருந்தாள். ஆனால் அவர்கள் ஒன்றுசேர்ந்து வாழும் முன்பே அவள் பரிசுத்த ஆவியினால் கருவுற்றிருந்தது தெரியவந்தது.
Now the birth of Jesus Christ was thus: His mother, Mary, that is, having been betrothed to Joseph, before they came together, she was found to be with child of [the] Holy Spirit.
19 அவளது கணவன் யோசேப்பு ஒரு நீதிமானாயிருந்தான். எனவே அவளை மக்கள் முன்பு வெளிப்படையாக அவமானப்படுத்த விரும்பாமல், திருமண ஒப்பந்தத்தை இரகசியமாக முறித்துவிட நினைத்தான்.
But Joseph, her husband, being [a] righteous [man], and unwilling to expose her publicly, purposed to have put her away secretly;
20 யோசேப்பு இவ்வாறு சிந்தித்துக் கொண்டிருந்தபோது, கர்த்தரின் தூதன் அவனுக்குக் கனவில் தோன்றி, “தாவீதின் மகனாகிய யோசேப்பே, நீ மரியாளை உனது மனைவியாக சேர்த்துக்கொள்ளத் தயங்காதே, ஏனெனில் அவள் பரிசுத்த ஆவியாலேயே கருவுற்றிருக்கிறாள்.
but while he pondered on these things, behold, an angel of [the] Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying, Joseph, son of David, fear not to take to [thee] Mary, thy wife, for that which is begotten in her is of [the] Holy Spirit.
21 அவள் ஒரு மகனைப் பெறுவாள்; நீ அவருக்கு, ‘இயேசு’ என்று பெயரிட வேண்டும். ஏனெனில் அவர் தமது மக்களை அவர்களுடைய பாவங்களிலிருந்து இரட்சிப்பார்” என்றான்.
And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name Jesus, for he shall save his people from their sins.
22 கர்த்தர் தமது இறைவாக்கினன் மூலமாகச் சொல்லியிருந்தது நிறைவேறவே இவை நடந்தன:
Now all this came to pass that that might be fulfilled which was spoken by [the] Lord, through the prophet, saying,
23 “ஒரு கன்னிப்பெண் கர்ப்பவதியாகி ஒரு மகனைப் பெறுவாள். அவரை இம்மானுயேல் என அழைப்பார்கள்.” இம்மானுயேல் என்பதன் அர்த்தம், “இறைவன் நம்மோடு இருக்கிறார்” என்பதே.
Behold, the virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which is, being interpreted, 'God with us.'
24 யோசேப்பு நித்திரையை விட்டெழுந்ததும், கர்த்தரின் தூதன் தனக்குக் கட்டளையிட்டபடியே, மரியாளைத் தனது மனைவியாக வீட்டிற்குக் கூட்டிச்சென்றான்.
But Joseph, having awoke up from his sleep, did as the angel of [the] Lord had enjoined him, and took to [him] his wife,
25 ஆனால் அவள் ஒரு மகனைப் பெற்றெடுக்கும்வரை யோசேப்பு அவளுடன் சேரவில்லை. யோசேப்பு அவருக்கு இயேசு என்று பெயரிட்டான்.
and knew her not until she had brought forth her firstborn son: and he called his name Jesus.
