மத்தேயு 5
1 இயேசு திரளான ஜனங்களைக் கண்டபோது, ஒரு மலைச்சரிவில் ஏறி அங்கே உட்கார்ந்தார். அப்பொழுது அவரது சீடர்கள் அவரருகே வந்தார்கள்,
And seeing the multitudes, he went up into the mountain: and when he had sat down, his disciples came unto him:
2 இயேசு அவர்களுக்குப் போதிக்கத் தொடங்கினார். அவர் சொன்னதாவது:
and he opened his mouth and taught them, saying,
3 “ஆவியில் எளிமையுள்ளோர் ஆசீர்வதிக்கப்பட்டவர்கள், பரலோக அரசு அவர்களுக்கு உரியது.
Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
4 துயரப்படுகிறவர்கள் ஆசீர்வதிக்கப்பட்டவர்கள், அவர்கள் ஆறுதல் அடைவார்கள்.
Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted.
5 சாந்தமுள்ளவர்கள் ஆசீர்வதிக்கப்பட்டவர்கள், அவர்கள் பூமியை உரிமையாக்கிக்கொள்வார்கள்.
Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth.
6 நீதியை நிலைநாட்ட பசி தாகம் உள்ளவர்கள் ஆசீர்வதிக்கப்பட்டவர்கள், அவர்கள் நிறைவு பெறுவார்கள்.
Blessed are they that hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.
7 இரக்கம் நிறைந்தவர்கள் ஆசீர்வதிக்கப்பட்டவர்கள், அவர்கள் இரக்கம் பெறுவார்கள்.
Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy.
8 இருதயத்தில் தூய்மை உள்ளவர்கள் ஆசீர்வதிக்கப்பட்டவர்கள், அவர்கள் இறைவனைக் காண்பார்கள்.
Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God.
9 சமாதானம் செய்கிறவர்கள் ஆசீர்வதிக்கப்பட்டவர்கள், அவர்கள் இறைவனின் பிள்ளைகள் என அழைக்கப்படுவார்கள்.
Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called sons of God.
10 நீதியின் நிமித்தம் துன்புறுத்தப்படுகிறவர்கள் ஆசீர்வதிக்கப்பட்டவர்கள், பரலோக அரசு அவர்களுக்குரியதே.
Blessed are they that have been persecuted for righteousness’ sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
11 “என் நிமித்தம் மனிதர் உங்களை இகழும்போதும், துன்புறுத்தும்போதும், உங்களுக்கு எதிராகப் பலவிதமான பொய்களைச் சொல்லி தீமைகளை விளைவிக்கும்போதும், நீங்கள் ஆசீர்வதிக்கப்பட்டவர்களாய் இருப்பீர்கள்.
Blessed are ye when [men] shall reproach you, and persecute you, and say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake.
12 மகிழ்ந்து களிகூருங்கள், பரலோகத்தில் உங்கள் வெகுமதி மிகப்பெரிதாய் இருக்கும். ஏனெனில், இதைப்போலவே உங்களுக்கு முன்னிருந்த இறைவாக்கினரையும் அவர்கள் துன்புறுத்தினார்கள்.
Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you.
13 “நீங்கள் பூமியிலுள்ளோருக்கு உப்பாக இருக்கிறீர்கள். ஆனால் உப்பு அதன் உவர்ப்புத் தன்மையை இழந்துபோனால், மீண்டும் அதை எப்படி உவர்ப்பு உடையதாக்க முடியும்? அது வேறொன்றுக்கும் பயன்படாது, வெளியே வீசப்பட்டு மனிதரால் மிதிக்கப்படும்.
Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost its savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out and trodden under foot of men.
14 “நீங்கள் உலகத்துக்கு வெளிச்சமாயிருக்கிறீர்கள். ஒரு குன்றின்மேல் உள்ள பட்டணம் மறைவாயிருக்காது.
Ye are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hid.
15 மக்கள் விளக்கைக் கொளுத்தி அதை ஒரு பாத்திரத்தினால் மூடி வைக்கமாட்டார்களே. அவர்கள் அதை விளக்குத்தண்டின் மேல் உயர்த்தி வைப்பார்கள், அப்பொழுது அது வீட்டிலுள்ள எல்லோருக்கும் வெளிச்சத்தைக் கொடுக்கும்.
Neither do [men] light a lamp, and put it under the bushel, but on the stand; and it shineth unto all that are in the house.
16 அதைப் போலவே, உங்கள் வெளிச்சம் மனிதர் முன் பிரகாசிக்கட்டும், அப்பொழுது அவர்கள் உங்கள் நல்ல செயல்களைக் கண்டு, பரலோகத்திலுள்ள உங்கள் பிதாவை மகிமைப்படுத்துவார்கள்.
Even so let your light shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.
17 “நான் மோசேயின் சட்டத்தையும், இறைவாக்குகளையும் அழிக்க வந்தேன் என நினைக்கவேண்டாம்; நான் அவற்றை அழிக்க அல்ல நிறைவேற்றவே வந்தேன்.
Think not that I came to destroy the law or the prophets: I came not to destroy, but to fulfill.
18 நான் உங்களுக்கு உண்மையைச் சொல்கிறேன், வானமும் பூமியும் அழிந்துபோனாலும், மோசேயின் சட்டத்தில் உள்ள ஒவ்வொன்றும் நிறைவேறும் வரைக்கும், அதில் உள்ள மிகச்சிறிய எழுத்தோ, எழுத்தின் சிறிய புள்ளியோ அழிந்துபோகாது.
For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass away, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass away from the law, till all things be accomplished.
19 இந்தக் கட்டளைகளில் சிறிதான ஒன்றையாகிலும் மீறி, அப்படிச் செய்யும்படி மற்றவர்களுக்கு போதிக்கிறவன், பரலோக அரசில் சிறியவன் எனக் கருதப்படுவான்; ஆனால் இந்தக் கட்டளைகளை தானும் கடைப்பிடித்து, மற்றவர்களுக்கும் போதிக்கிறவன் பரலோக அரசில் பெரியவன் எனக் கருதப்படுவான்.
Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, shall be called least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, he shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.
20 நான் உங்களுக்குச் சொல்கிறேன் உங்களுடைய நீதியானது, பரிசேயர் மற்றும் மோசேயின் சட்ட ஆசிரியர்களின் நீதியைவிட மேலானதாய் இருக்கவேண்டும், இல்லையென்றால் நீங்கள் பரலோக அரசிற்குள் செல்லமாட்டீர்கள்.
For I say unto you, that except your righteousness shall exceed [the righteousness] of the scribes and Pharisees, ye shall in no wise enter into the kingdom of heaven.
21 “கொலை செய்யாதே, கொலை செய்கிறவன் தண்டனைத் தீர்ப்புக்கு உட்படுவான் என்று வெகுகாலத்திற்கு முன்னரே சொல்லப்பட்டிருப்பதை நீங்கள் கேள்விப்பட்டிருக்கிறீர்கள்.
Ye have heard that it was said to them of old time, Thou shalt not kill; and whosoever shall kill shall be in danger of the judgment:
22 ஆனால் நான் உங்களுக்குச் சொல்லுகிறேன், யாராவது தனது சகோதரன் அல்லது சகோதரியுடன் கோபப்பட்டால், அவர்கள் தண்டனைத் தீர்ப்புக்கு உட்படுவார்கள். மேலும், தனது சகோதரனை அல்லது சகோதரியை ‘பயித்தியம்!’ என்று சொல்கிறவர்கள் ஆலோசனைச் சங்கத்திற்குப் பதிற்சொல்ல வேண்டியதாயிருக்கும். ஆனால் யாரையாவது, ‘முட்டாள்!’ என்று சொல்லுகிறவர்கள், நரகத்தின் நெருப்புக்குள்ளாகும் அபாயத்திலிருக்கிறார்கள். but I say unto you, that every one who is angry with his brother shall be in danger of the judgment; and whosoever shall say to his brother, Raca, shall be in danger of the council; and whosoever shall say, Thou fool, shall be in danger of the hell of fire. (Geenna g1067)
23 “அதனால், நீங்கள் உங்கள் காணிக்கையைப் பலிபீடத்தில் செலுத்தும்போது, உங்கள் சகோதரனுக்கோ அல்லது சகோதரிக்கோ உங்கள்மேல் ஏதாவது மனத்தாங்கல் இருப்பது நினைவுக்கு வந்தால்,
If therefore thou art offering thy gift at the altar, and there rememberest that thy brother hath aught against thee,
24 பலிபீடத்தின் முன்னே உங்கள் காணிக்கையை வைத்துவிட்டு, முதலில் போய் உங்கள் சகோதரனுடன் அல்லது சகோதரியுடன் ஒப்புரவாகுங்கள்; அதற்குப் பின்பு வந்து உங்களது காணிக்கையைச் செலுத்துங்கள்.
leave there thy gift before the altar, and go thy way, first be reconciled to thy brother, and then come and offer thy gift.
25 “உங்களது பகைவர் உங்களை நீதிமன்றத்துக்குக் கொண்டுபோகும்போது. வழியிலேயே அவர்களோடு விரைவாகப் பிரச்சனைகளைத் தீர்த்துக்கொள்ள முயற்சி செய்யுங்கள், இல்லையெனில், அவர்கள் உங்களை நீதிபதியிடம் ஒப்படைக்கக்கூடும், நீதிபதி உங்களை அதிகாரியிடம் ஒப்படைக்க, நீங்கள் சிறையில் தள்ளப்படலாம்.
Agree with thine adversary quickly, whiles thou art with him in the way; lest haply the adversary deliver thee to the judge, and the judge deliver thee to the officer, and thou be cast into prison.
26 உங்களிடத்திலிருக்கும், கடைசி காசையும் செலுத்தித் தீர்க்கும்வரை நீங்கள் வெளியே வரமாட்டீர்கள் என்று நான் உங்களுக்கு உண்மையாய்ச் சொல்லுகிறேன்.
Verily I say unto thee, Thou shalt by no means come out thence, till thou have paid the last farthing.
27 “‘விபசாரம் செய்யாதே’ எனச் சொல்லப்பட்டிருப்பதை, நீங்கள் கேள்விப்பட்டிருக்கிறீர்கள்.
Ye have heard that it was said, Thou shalt not commit adultery:
28 ஆனால் நான் உங்களுக்குச் சொல்லுகிறேன், யாராவது ஒருவன் ஒரு பெண்ணைக் காம இச்சையுடன் பார்த்தாலே, அவன் அவளுடன் அப்போதே தன் இருதயத்தில் விபசாரம் செய்தவனாகிறான்.
but I say unto you, that every one that looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart.
29 உனது வலது கண் உன்னைப் பாவம் செய்யத் தூண்டினால், அதைத்தோண்டி எறிந்துவிடு. உனது முழு உடலும் நரகத்தில் எறியப்படுவதைப் பார்க்கிலும், உனது உடலில் ஒரு பகுதியை நீ இழப்பது நல்லது. (Geenna g1067)
And if thy right eye causeth thee to stumble, pluck it out, and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not thy whole body be cast into hell. (Geenna g1067)
30 உனது வலதுகை உன்னைப் பாவம் செய்யத் தூண்டினால், அதை வெட்டி எறிந்துபோடு. உனது முழு உடலும் நரகத்துக்குள் போவதைப் பார்க்கிலும், உடலின் ஒரு பகுதியை நீ இழப்பது உனக்கு நல்லது. (Geenna g1067)
And if thy right hand causeth thee to stumble, cut it off, and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not thy whole body go into hell. (Geenna g1067)
31 “தனது மனைவியை விவாகரத்து செய்கிறவன், ‘அவளுக்கு விவாகரத்துப் பத்திரத்தைக் கொடுக்கவேண்டும் என்று சொல்லப்பட்டிருக்கிறது.’
It was said also, Whosoever shall put away his wife, let him give her a writing of divorcement:
32 ஆனால் நான் உங்களுக்குச் சொல்கிறேன் யாராவது ஒருவன், தன் மனைவி விபசாரம் செய்ததினாலன்றி, வேறெந்த காரணத்திற்காகவும் அவளை விவாகரத்து செய்தால், அவன் அவளை விபசாரத்துக்குள்ளாக்குகிறான். விவாகரத்து செய்யப்பட்ட பெண்ணைத் திருமணம் செய்பவனும் விபசாரம் செய்கிறான்.
but I say unto you, that every one that putteth away his wife, saving for the cause of fornication, maketh her an adulteress: and whosoever shall marry her when she is put away committeth adultery.
33 “மேலும், ‘நீங்கள் ஆணையிட்டதை மீற வேண்டாம், கர்த்தருடன் செய்துகொண்ட ஆணைகளை நிறைவேற்றுங்கள் என்று, வெகுகாலத்திற்கு முன்னே முன்னோர்களுக்குச் சொல்லப்பட்டதை நீங்கள் கேள்விப்பட்டிருக்கிறீர்கள்.’
Again, ye have heard that it was said to them of old time, Thou shalt not forswear thyself, but shalt perform unto the Lord thine oaths:
34 ஆனால் நான் உங்களுக்குச் சொல்கிறேன், நீங்கள் ஒருபோதும் ஆணையிட வேண்டாம்: பரலோகத்தின்மேல் ஆணையிட வேண்டாம், ஏனெனில் அது இறைவனின் அரியணை;
but I say unto you, Swear not at all; neither by the heaven, for it is the throne of God;
35 பூமியின்மேலும் ஆணையிட வேண்டாம், ஏனெனில் அது இறைவனின் பாதபீடம்; எருசலேமைக்கொண்டும் ஆணையிட வேண்டாம், ஏனெனில், அது பேரரசரின் பட்டணம்.
nor by the earth, for it is the footstool of his feet; nor by Jerusalem, for it is the city of the great King.
36 உங்கள் தலையில் கை வைத்தும் ஆணையிட வேண்டாம், ஏனெனில் உங்களால் ஒரு தலைமுடியையாகிலும் வெண்மையாக்கவோ, கருமையாக்கவோ முடியாதே.
Neither shalt thou swear by thy head, for thou canst not make one hair white or black.
37 ஆகவே உங்களிடமிருந்து வரும் பதில், ‘ஆம்’ என்றால் ‘ஆம்’ என்றும், ‘இல்லை’ என்றால் ‘இல்லை’ என்றும் இருக்கட்டும்; இதற்கு மேலாக வருவதெல்லாம் தீயவனிடமிருந்தே வருகிறது.
But let your speech be, Yea, yea; Nay, nay: and whatsoever is more than these is of the evil [one].
38 “கண்ணுக்குக் கண், பல்லுக்குப் பல் என்று சொல்லப்பட்டிருப்பதைக் கேள்விப்பட்டிருக்கிறீர்கள்.
Ye have heard that it was said, An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth:
39 ஆனால் நான் உங்களுக்குச் சொல்கிறேன், நீங்கள் உங்களை எதிர்க்கும் தீய நபருடன் போராட வேண்டாம். யாராவது உங்களை வலது கன்னத்தில் அறைந்தால், அவருக்கு மறு கன்னத்தையும் திருப்பிக் காட்டுங்கள்.
but I say unto you, Resist not him that is evil: but whosoever smiteth thee on thy right cheek, turn to him the other also.
40 யாராவது உங்களுடன் வழக்காடி, உங்கள் ஆடையை எடுத்துக்கொள்ளுகிறவருக்கு, உங்கள் மேலுடையையும் கொடுத்துவிடுங்கள்.
And if any man would go to law with thee, and take away thy coat, let him have thy cloke also.
41 யாராவது உங்களை ஒரு கிலோமீட்டர் தூரம் வரும்படி வற்புறுத்தினால், அந்த நபரோடு இரண்டு கிலோமீட்டர் தூரம் செல்லுங்கள்.
And whosoever shall compel thee to go one mile, go with him twain.
42 உங்களிடத்தில் கேட்கிறவருக்குக் கொடுங்கள், உங்களிடம் கடன்வாங்க விரும்புகிறவரிடமிருந்து விலகிச்செல்ல வேண்டாம்.
Give to him that asketh thee, and from him that would borrow of thee turn not thou away.
43 “உங்கள் அயலானிடம் அன்பாயிருங்கள், உங்கள் பகைவனுக்குப் பகையைக் காட்டுங்கள் என்று சொல்லப்பட்டிருப்பதைக் கேள்விப்பட்டிருக்கிறீர்கள்.
Ye have heard that it was said, Thou shalt love thy neighbour, and hate thine enemy:
44 ஆனால் நான் உங்களுக்குச் சொல்கிறேன், உங்கள் பகைவர்களுக்கு அன்பு காட்டுங்கள். உங்களைத் துன்புறுத்துகிறவர்களுக்காக மன்றாடுங்கள்.
but I say unto you, Love your enemies, and pray for them that persecute you;
45 இப்படிச் செய்வதினால் நீங்கள் பரலோகத்தில் இருக்கும் உங்கள் பிதாவுக்குப் பிள்ளைகளாய் இருப்பீர்கள். அவர் தீயவர்மேலும், நல்லவர்மேலும் தமது சூரியனை உதிக்கச் செய்கிறார். நீதியுள்ளவர்மேலும், அநீதியுள்ளவர்மேலும் மழையை அனுப்புகிறார்.
that ye may be sons of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sendeth rain on the just and the unjust.
46 உங்களிடம் அன்பாய் இருக்கிறவர்களிடத்தில் நீங்களும் அன்பாய் இருந்தால், நீங்கள் பெறும் வெகுமதி என்ன? வரி வசூலிப்பவரும்கூட அப்படிச் செய்வதில்லையா?
For if ye love them that love you, what reward have ye? do not even the publicans the same?
47 நீங்கள் உங்கள் சொந்தக்காரர்களை மட்டும் வாழ்த்துவீர்களானால் நீங்கள் மற்றவர்களைப் பார்க்கிலும் மேலாகச் செய்வது என்ன? இறைவனை அறியாதவர்கூட அப்படிச் செய்வதில்லையா?
And if ye salute your brethren only, what do ye more [than others]? do not even the Gentiles the same?
48 உங்கள் பரலோகப் பிதா நிறைவுடையவராய் இருக்கிறதுபோல, நீங்களும் நிறைவுடையவர்களாய் இருங்கள்.
Ye therefore shall be perfect, as your heavenly Father is perfect.
