மத்தேயு 14
1 அக்காலத்திலே காற்பங்கு அரசனாகிய ஏரோது இயேசுவைப்பற்றிக் கேள்விப்பட்டான்.
At that time Herod the Tetrarche heard of the fame of Iesus,
2 ஏரோது தனது வேலைக்காரர்களிடம், “அவன் யோவான் ஸ்நானகனே; அவன் உயிரோடு திரும்பவும் எழுந்துவிட்டான்! அதனாலேயே, அவனிடத்தில் அற்புத வல்லமைகள் செயல்படுகிறது” என்று சொன்னான்.
And sayde vnto his seruaunts, This is that Iohn Baptist, hee is risen againe from the deade, and therefore great woorkes are wrought by him.
3 தனது சகோதரன் பிலிப்புவின் மனைவி ஏரோதியாளின் நிமித்தமே, ஏரோது யோவானைக் கைதுசெய்து, அவனைக் கட்டி, சிறையில் அடைத்திருந்தான்.
For Herod had taken Iohn, and bounde him, and put him in prison for Herodias sake, his brother Philips wife.
4 ஏனெனில் யோவான் அவனிடம்: “அவளை நீ வைத்திருப்பது சட்டத்திற்கு மாறானது” என்று சொல்லியிருந்தான்.
For Iohn saide vnto him, It is not lawfull for thee to haue her.
5 ஏரோது யோவானைக் கொலைசெய்ய விரும்பினான். ஆனால் மக்களுக்குப் பயந்திருந்தான். ஏனெனில் மக்கள் அவனை இறைவாக்கினன் என்று எண்ணினார்கள்.
And when hee woulde haue put him to death, hee feared the multitude, because they counted him as a Prophet.
6 ஏரோதின் பிறந்தநாள் அன்று, ஏரோதியாளின் மகள் அவர்களுக்காக நடனமாடி, ஏரோதை மிகவும் மகிழ்வித்தாள்.
But when Herods birth day was kept, the daughter of Herodias daunced before them, and pleased Herod.
7 அதனால் அவள் எதைக் கேட்டாலும் அதை அவளுக்குத் தருவதாக ஏரோது ஆணையிட்டு வாக்குக்கொடுத்தான்.
Wherefore he promised with an othe, that he would giue her whatsoeuer she would aske.
8 அவள் தனது தாயின் தூண்டுதலினால், “யோவான் ஸ்நானகனின் தலையை ஒரு தட்டில் வைத்து எனக்குக் கொடுங்கள்” என்று கேட்டாள்.
And shee being before instructed of her mother, sayde, Giue mee here Iohn Baptists head in a platter.
9 அரசன் மிகவும் துக்கமடைந்தான். ஆனால் தனது ஆணையின் நிமித்தமும், தனது விருந்தினர்களின் நிமித்தமும், அவன் அவளுடைய வேண்டுதலை நிறைவேற்றும்படி உத்தரவிட்டான்.
And the King was sorie: neuerthelesse because of the othe, and them that sate with him at the table, he commanded it to be giuen her,
10 அவ்வாறே, சிறையில் யோவானின் தலைவெட்டப்பட்டது.
And sent, and beheaded Iohn in the prison.
11 அவனுடைய தலை ஒரு தட்டில் வைக்கப்பட்டு, அந்தச் சிறுமியிடம் கொண்டுவந்து கொடுக்கப்பட்டது. அவள் அதைத் தன் தாயிடம் கொண்டுபோனாள்.
And his head was brought in a platter, and giuen to the maide, and shee brought it vnto her mother.
12 அப்பொழுது யோவானின் சீடர்கள் வந்து, அவனது உடலை எடுத்து அடக்கம்பண்ணினார்கள். அதற்குப் பின்பு அவர்கள் இயேசுவிடம் சென்று நடந்ததைச் சொன்னார்கள்.
And his disciples came, and tooke vp the bodie, and buried it, and went, and tolde Iesus.
13 இயேசு நடந்தவற்றைக் கேள்விப்பட்டபோது, யாருக்கும் தெரியாமல் தனிமையான இடத்திற்கு படகில் ஏறிச்சென்றார். இதைக் கேள்விப்பட்ட மக்கள், பட்டணத்திலிருந்து கால்நடையாக அவரைப் பின்தொடர்ந்து சென்றார்கள்.
And when Iesus heard it, hee departed thence by shippe into a desert place apart. And when the multitude had heard it, they followed him on foote out of the cities.
14 இயேசு கரையில் இறங்கியவுடன், அங்கே மக்களின் பெரிய கூட்டத்தைக் கண்டு, அவர்கள்மேல் மனதுருகி, அவர்களில் நோயுள்ளவர்களைச் குணமாக்கினார்.
And Iesus went foorth and sawe a great multitude, and was mooued with compassion toward them, and he healed their sicke.
15 மாலை வேளையானபோது, சீடர்கள் இயேசுவிடம் வந்து, “இது சற்று தூரமான ஒரு இடம். ஏற்கெனவே நேரமாகிவிட்டது. மக்கள் கூட்டத்தை அனுப்பிவிடும். அவர்கள் கிராமங்களுக்குப் போய், அங்கே தங்களுக்கு வேண்டிய சாப்பாட்டை வாங்கிக்கொள்ளட்டும்” என்றார்கள்.
And when euen was come, his disciples came to him, saying, This is a desart place, and the time is alreadie past: let the multitude depart, that they may goe into the townes, and bye them vitailes.
16 அதற்கு இயேசு, “அவர்கள் போக வேண்டியதில்லை. நீங்களே அவர்களுக்கு ஏதாவது சாப்பிடக் கொடுங்கள்” என்றார்.
But Iesus saide to them, They haue no neede to goe away: giue yee them to eate.
17 “இங்கே எங்களிடம் ஐந்து அப்பங்களும், இரண்டு மீன்களும் மட்டுமே இருக்கின்றன” என அவர்கள் சொன்னார்கள்.
Then saide they vnto him, Wee haue here but fiue loaues, and two fishes.
18 “அவற்றை என்னிடம் கொண்டுவாருங்கள்” என்றார்.
And he saide, Bring them hither to me.
19 அவர் மக்களை புற்தரையில் உட்காரும்படிச் செய்தார். பின்பு அவர், அந்த ஐந்து அப்பங்களையும் இரண்டு மீன்களையும் எடுத்து, வானத்தை நோக்கிப்பார்த்து, இறைவனுக்கு நன்றி செலுத்தி, அப்பங்களைப் பிட்டு சீடர்களிடம் கொடுத்தார். சீடர்கள் அதை மக்களுக்குக் கொடுத்தார்கள்.
And hee commanded the multitude to sit downe on the grasse, and tooke the fiue loaues and the two fishes, and looked vp to heauen and blessed, and brake, and gaue the loaues to his disciples, and the disciples to the multitude.
20 அவர்கள் எல்லோரும் சாப்பிட்டுத் திருப்தியடைந்தார்கள். அவர்கள் சாப்பிட்டு மீதியான துண்டுகளை சீடர்கள் பன்னிரண்டு கூடைகள் நிறைய சேர்த்து எடுத்தார்கள்.
And they did all eate, and were sufficed, and they tooke vp of the fragments that remained, twelue baskets full.
21 சாப்பிட்ட ஆண்களின் எண்ணிக்கை ஏறக்குறைய ஐயாயிரமாயிருந்தது. இவர்களைத் தவிர, பெண்களும் பிள்ளைகளுங்கூட இருந்தார்கள்.
And they that had eaten, were about fiue thousande men, beside women and litle children.
22 பின்பு இயேசு மக்கள் கூட்டத்தை அனுப்பிக் கொண்டிருக்கையில், தனக்கு முன்பாகவே சீடரை படகில் ஏறி மறுகரைக்குப் போகும்படி செய்தார்.
And straightway Iesus compelled his disciples to enter into a shippe, and to goe ouer before him, while he sent the multitude away.
23 அவர்களை அனுப்பிவிட்ட பின்பு, இயேசு தனிமையாக மன்றாடுவதற்கென மலையின்மேல் ஏறினார். இரவு வேளையானபோது, அவர் அங்கே தனிமையாய் இருந்தார்.
And assoone as hee had sent the multitude away, he went vp into a moutaine alone to pray: and when the euening was come, hee was there alone.
24 ஆனால் சீடர்கள் சென்ற படகு, கரையை விட்டு மிகத் தொலைவில் போயிருந்தது. எதிர்க்காற்று வீசியதால் படகு அலைக்கழிக்கப்பட்டது.
And the shippe was nowe in the middes of the sea, and was tossed with waues: for it was a contrarie winde.
25 அதிகாலை மூன்றாம்மணி நேரத்தில், இயேசு கடலின்மேல் நடந்து அவர்களிடம் சென்றார்.
And in the fourth watch of the night, Iesus went vnto them, walking on the sea.
26 அவர் கடலின்மேல் நடப்பதை சீடர்கள் கண்டபோது, திகிலடைந்து, “அது பேய்!” என்று சொல்லி, பயத்துடன் சத்தமிட்டார்கள்.
And when his disciples sawe him walking on the sea, they were troubled, saying, It is a spirit, and cried out for feare.
27 உடனே இயேசு அவர்களிடம்: “தைரியமாய் இருங்கள்! இது நான்தான், பயப்படவேண்டாம்” என்றார்.
But straight way Iesus spake vnto them, saying, Be of good comfort, It is I: be not afraide.
28 அதற்கு பேதுரு, “ஆண்டவரே, நீர்தான் என்றால், நானும் தண்ணீர்மேல் நடந்து உம்மிடம் வரும்படி சொல்லும்” என்றான்.
Then Peter answered him, and saide, Master, if it be thou, bid me come vnto thee on the water.
29 அதற்கு இயேசு, “வா” என்றார். அப்பொழுது பேதுரு படகைவிட்டு வெளியே இறங்கி, தண்ணீரின்மேல் நடந்து இயேசுவை நோக்கி வந்தான்.
And he saide, Come. And when Peter was come downe out of the shippe, he walked on the water, to goe to Iesus.
30 ஆனால் அவன் காற்றைக் கண்டபோது பயமடைந்து மூழ்கத்தொடங்கி, “ஆண்டவரே என்னைக் காப்பாற்றும்!” என்று கதறினான்.
But when he sawe a mightie winde, he was afraide: and as he began to sinke, he cried, saying, Master, saue me.
31 உடனே இயேசு தமது கையை நீட்டி பேதுருவைப் பிடித்தார். “அற்பவிசுவாசியே, ஏன் சந்தேகப்பட்டாய்?” என்றார்.
So immediatly Iesus stretched foorth his hande, and caught him, and saide to him, O thou of litle faith, wherefore diddest thou doubt?
32 அவர்கள் படகில் ஏறியபோது காற்று அமர்ந்து போயிற்று.
And assoone as they were come into the ship, the winde ceased.
33 படகிற்குள் இருந்தவர்கள் அவரை வழிபட்டு, “உண்மையாகவே, நீர் இறைவனின் மகன்!” என்றார்கள்.
Then they that were in the ship, came and worshipped him, saying, Of a trueth thou art the Sonne of God.
34 அவர்கள் மறுகரைக்குச் சென்று, கெனேசரேத்து என்னும் இடத்தில் கரை இறங்கினார்கள்.
And when they were come ouer, they came into the land of Gennezaret.
35 அந்த இடத்து மக்கள், இயேசுவை அடையாளம் கண்டபோது, சுற்றுப்புறங்களுக்கு எல்லாம் செய்தி அனுப்பினார்கள். அவர்களோ, தங்களில் நோயாளிகளை எல்லாம் அவரிடம் கொண்டுவந்தார்கள்.
And when the men of that place knewe him, they sent out into all that countrey rounde about, and brought vnto him all that were sicke,
36 நோயாளிகள் இயேசுவின் மேலுடையின் ஓரத்தையாகிலும் தொடுவதற்கு அவர் அனுமதிக்க வேண்டுமென, அவரைக் கெஞ்சிக் கேட்டார்கள். அவரைத் தொட்ட யாவரும் குணமடைந்தார்கள்.
And besought him, that they might touch the hemme of his garment onely: and as many as touched it, were made whole.
