மாற்கு 6
1 இயேசு அங்கிருந்து புறப்பட்டு, தமது சொந்தப் பட்டணத்திற்குச் சென்றார். அவருடைய சீடர்களும் அவருடன் சென்றார்கள்.
On leaving that place, Jesus, followed by his disciples, went to his own part of the country.
2 ஓய்வுநாளிலே, அவர் அவர்களுக்கு ஜெப ஆலயத்தில் போதிக்கத் தொடங்கினார். இயேசு சொன்னதைக் கேட்ட அநேகர் வியப்படைந்தார்கள். அவர்கள், “இவன் இந்தக் காரியங்களை எங்கிருந்து பெற்றான்? இவனுக்குக் கொடுக்கப்பட்ட இந்த ஞானம் எப்படிப்பட்டது? இவன் செய்யும் அற்புதங்கள் என்ன?
When the Sabbath came, he began to teach in the synagogue; and the people, as they listened, were deeply impressed. ‘Where did he get this?’ they said, ‘and what is this wisdom that has been given him? And these miracles which he is doing?
3 இவன் தச்சன் அல்லவா? இவன் மரியாளின் மகன் அல்லவா? யாக்கோபு, யோசேப்பு, யூதா, சீமோன் ஆகியோரின் சகோதரன் அல்லவா? இவனுடைய சகோதரிகளும் நம்முடன் இருக்கிறார்களே” என்றார்கள். எனவே அவர்கள் அவர்மேல் கோபமடைந்தார்கள்.
Isn’t he the carpenter, the son of Mary, and the brother of James, and Joses, and Judas, and Simon? And aren’t his sisters, too, living here among us?’ This proved a hindrance to their believing in him;
4 இயேசு அவர்களிடம், “ஓர் இறைவாக்கினன் அவனது சொந்தப் பட்டணத்திலும், அவனது உறவினர்கள் மத்தியிலுமேயன்றி வேறெங்கும் மதிப்பு பெறுவான்” என்றார்.
at which Jesus said, ‘A prophet is not without honour, except in his home town, and among his own relatives, and in his own home.’
5 வியாதியுடையவர்கள் சிலர்மேல் தமது கைகளை வைத்து குணமாக்கினார், வேறு அற்புதங்களை அவரால் அங்கு செய்ய முடியவில்லை.
And he could not work any miracle there, beyond placing his hands on a few infirm persons, and curing them;
6 அவர்கள் விசுவாசத்தில் குறைவாயிருப்பதைக் கண்டு, அவர் வியப்படைந்தார். பின்பு இயேசு கிராமம் கிராமமாகச் சுற்றிப்போய் போதித்தார்.
and he wondered at the want of faith shown by the people. Jesus went round the villages, one after another, teaching.
7 அவர் பன்னிரண்டு சீடர்களையும் தம்மிடம் அழைத்து, அவர்களை இரண்டிரண்டுபேராக அனுப்பத் தொடங்கினார்; அசுத்த ஆவிகளைத் துரத்தவும் அவர்களுக்கு அதிகாரத்தைக் கொடுத்தார்.
He called the Twelve to him, and began to send them out as his messengers, two and two, and gave them authority over foul spirits.
8 இயேசு அவர்களுக்கு அறிவுறுத்திச் சொன்னதாவது: “ஒரு ஊன்றுகோலைத் தவிர, உங்கள் பயணத்திற்கென்று உணவையோ, பையையோ, உங்கள் மடிப்பையில் பணத்தையோ எதையும் எடுத்துச்செல்ல வேண்டாம்.
He instructed them to take nothing but a staff for the journey – not even bread, or a bag, or coins in their purse;
9 உங்கள் பாதரட்சைகளைப் போட்டுக்கொண்டு போங்கள். ஆனால், மாற்று உடையையோ கொண்டுபோக வேண்டாம்.
but they were to wear sandals, and not to put on a second coat.
10 நீங்கள் போகும் பட்டணங்களில் ஒரு வீட்டிற்குள் போனால், அந்தப் பட்டணத்தைவிட்டுப் புறப்படும்வரை அங்கேயே தங்கியிருங்கள்.
‘Whenever you go to stay at a house,’ he said, ‘remain there until you leave that place;
11 எந்த இடத்திலுள்ளவர்களாவது உங்களை வரவேற்காமலோ, நீங்கள் சொல்வதைக் கேட்காமலோ இருந்தால், நீங்கள் அங்கிருந்து புறப்படும்போது, உங்கள் கால் தூசியை அங்கே உதறிவிட்டுப் போங்கள். அது அவர்களுக்கு எதிரான சாட்சியாய் இருக்கும்.”
and if a place does not welcome you, or listen to you, as you go out of it shake off the dust that is on the soles of your feet, as a protest against them.’
12 சீடர்கள் புறப்பட்டுப்போய், மக்கள் பாவத்திலிருந்து மனந்திரும்ப வேண்டும் என்று பறைசாற்றினார்கள்.
So they set out, and proclaimed the need of repentance.
13 அவர்கள் அநேக பிசாசுகளைத் துரத்தினார்கள்; பல நோயாளிகளுக்கு எண்ணெய் பூசி, அவர்களை சுகப்படுத்தினார்கள்.
They drove out many demons, and anointed with oil many who were infirm, and cured them.
14 இயேசுவின் பெயர் எங்கும் பரவியிருந்தபடியால், ஏரோது அரசனும் இதைப்பற்றிக் கேள்விப்பட்டான். சிலரோ, “யோவான் ஸ்நானகன் உயிரோடு திரும்பவும் எழுப்பப்பட்டான். அதனாலேயே இவனிடத்தில் அற்புத வல்லமைகள் செயல்படுகின்றன” என்றார்கள்.
Now King Herod heard of Jesus; for his name had become well known. People were saying – ‘John the Baptiser must have risen from the dead, and that is why these miraculous powers are active in him.’
15 மற்றவர்களோ, “இவன் எலியா” என்றார்கள். இன்னும் சிலரோ, “இவன் முற்காலத்தில் இருந்த இறைவாக்கினரைப் போன்ற ஒரு இறைவாக்கினன்” என்றார்கள்.
Others again said – ‘He is Elijah,’ and others – ‘He is a prophet, like one of the great prophets.’
16 ஆனால் ஏரோது இதைக் கேள்விப்பட்டபோது, “நான் சிரச்சேதம் செய்த யோவானே இறந்தோரிலிருந்து எழுந்திருக்கிறான்!” என்றான்.
But when Herod heard of him, he said – ‘The man whom I beheaded – John – he must be risen!’
17 ஏனெனில், ஏரோதுவே யோவானைக் கைதுசெய்ய உத்தரவிட்டு, அவனைக் கட்டிச் சிறையில் அடைத்திருந்தான். தான் திருமணம் செய்திருந்த தனது சகோதரன் பிலிப்புவின் மனைவி ஏரோதியாளின் நிமித்தம் அவன் இதைச் செய்திருந்தான்.
For Herod himself had sent and arrested John, and put him in prison, in chains, to please Herodias, the wife of his brother Philip, because Herod had married her.
18 யோவான் ஏரோதுவிடம், “உன் சகோதரனின் மனைவியை நீ வைத்திருப்பது மோசேயின் சட்டத்திற்கு மாறானது” என்று திரும்பத் திரும்பச் சொல்லிக்கொண்டிருந்தான்.
For John had said to Herod – ‘You have no right to be living with your brother’s wife.’
19 இதனால் ஏரோதியாள், யோவானுக்கு விரோதமாய் பகையுணர்வு கொண்டு, யோவானைக் கொலைசெய்ய விரும்பினாள். ஆனால் அவளால் அதைச் செய்ய முடியவில்லை.
So Herodias was incensed against John, and wanted to put him to death, but was unable to do so,
20 ஏனெனில் யோவான் நீதியும் பரிசுத்தமும் உள்ளவன் என்பதை ஏரோது அறிந்து பயமடைந்ததினால், அவனைப் பாதுகாத்தான். யோவான் சொன்னதை ஏரோது கேட்டு மிகவும் குழப்பமடைந்தான்; இருப்பினும், அவன் சொல்லுவதற்குச் செவிகொடுக்க விரும்பினான்.
because Herod stood in fear of John, knowing him to be an upright and holy man, and protected him. He had listened to John, but still remained much perplexed, and yet he found pleasure in listening to him.
21 கடைசியாக, ஏரோதியாளுக்கு ஒரு நல்ல வாய்ப்பு கிடைத்தது. ஏரோது தனது பிறந்த நாளிலே, தனது உயர் அதிகாரிகளுக்கும், படைத்தளபதிகளுக்கும், கலிலேயாவிலுள்ள முக்கியமானவர்களுக்கும் விருந்து ஒன்றைக் கொடுத்தான்.
A suitable opportunity, however, occurred when Herod, on his birthday, gave a dinner to his high officials, and his generals, and the foremost men in Galilee.
22 ஏரோதியாளின் மகள் உள்ளே வந்து நடனமாடினாள். அவள் ஏரோதுக்கும் அவனுடைய விருந்தினர்களுக்கும் மகிழ்ச்சியைக் கொடுத்தாள். எனவே அரசன் அந்தச் சிறுமியிடம், “உனக்கு விருப்பமான எதையும் கேள். அதை நான் உனக்குத் தருவேன்.
When his daughter – that is, the daughter of Herodias – came in and danced, she delighted Herod and those who were dining with him. ‘Ask me for whatever you like,’ the king said to the girl, ‘and I will give it to you’;
23 நீ எதைக் கேட்டாலும், அது எனது அரசில் பாதியாக இருந்தாலும், நான் தருவேன்” என்று ஆணையிட்டு வாக்குக்கொடுத்தான்.
and he swore to her that he would give her whatever she asked him – up to half his kingdom.
24 அந்தச் சிறுமி வெளியே போய், தனது தாயிடம் இதைச் சொல்லி, “நான் எதைக் கேட்கவேண்டும்?” என்று கேட்டாள். அதற்கு அவள், “யோவான் ஸ்நானகனின் தலையைக் கேள்” என்றாள்.
The girl went out, and said to her mother ‘What must I ask for?’ ‘The head of John the Baptiser,’ answered her mother.
25 உடனே அந்தச் சிறுமி அரசனிடம் ஓடி, “இப்பொழுதே யோவான் ஸ்நானகனின் தலையை ஒரு தட்டில் வைத்து, கொடுங்கள்” என்று கேட்டாள்.
So she went in as quickly as possible to the king, and made her request. ‘I want you,’ she said, ‘to give me at once, on a dish, the head of John the Baptist.’
26 அரசனோ மிகவும் துக்கமடைந்தான். ஆனால் தான் கொடுத்த ஆணையின் நிமித்தமும், தனது விருந்தினர்களின் நிமித்தமும் அதை அவளுக்கு அவன் மறுக்க விரும்பவில்லை.
The king was much distressed; yet, because of his oath and of the guests at his table, he did not like to refuse her.
27 எனவே அரசன் உடனே, யோவானின் தலையைக் கொண்டுவரும்படி உத்தரவிட்டு ஒரு காவற்காரனை அனுப்பினான். அவன் போய் சிறையிலிருந்த யோவானின் தலையை வெட்டினான்.
He immediately dispatched one of his bodyguard, with orders to bring John’s head. The man went and beheaded John in the prison,
28 அவனுடைய தலையை ஒரு தட்டில் வைத்துக் கொண்டுவந்தான். அவன் அதை அந்தச் சிறுமிக்குக் கொடுக்க, அவள் அதைத் தன் தாயிடம் கொடுத்தாள்.
and, bringing his head on a dish, gave it to the girl, and the girl gave it to her mother.
29 இதை யோவானின் சீடர்கள் கேள்விப்பட்டு, வந்து அவனது உடலை எடுத்து கல்லறை ஒன்றில் அடக்கம் செய்தார்கள்.
When John’s disciples heard of it, they came and took his body away, and laid it in a tomb.
30 அப்போஸ்தலர்கள் இயேசுவினிடம் திரும்பிவந்து, தாங்கள் செய்தவற்றையும், போதித்தவற்றையும் அறிவித்தார்கள்.
When the apostles came back to Jesus, they told him all that they had done and all that they had taught.
31 அங்கே அநேகர் வருவதும் போவதுமாய் இருந்தபடியால், அவர்களுக்குச் சாப்பிடக்கூட நேரமில்லாதிருந்தது. எனவே இயேசு அவர்களிடம், “நாம் போய் அமைதியான இடத்தில் இளைப்பாறுவோம்” என்றார்.
‘Come by yourselves privately to some lonely spot,’ he said, ‘and rest for a while’ – for there were so many people coming and going that they had not time even to eat.
32 எனவே அவர்கள் ஒரு படகில் ஏறி, தனிமையான ஒரு இடத்திற்குச் சென்றார்கள்.
So they set off privately in their boat for a lonely spot.
33 அவர்கள் புறப்பட்டுப் போவதைக் கண்ட அநேகர் அவர்களுக்கு முன்பதாகவே, அவ்விடத்திற்கு ஓடிச்சென்றார்கள். அவர்கள் எல்லாப் பட்டணங்களிலிருந்தும் புறப்பட்டு வந்திருந்தவர்கள்.
Many people saw them going, and recognised them, and from all the towns they flocked together to the place on foot, and got there before them.
34 இயேசு கரையில் இறங்கியவுடன் மக்களின் பெரிய கூட்டத்தைக் கண்டு, அவர்கள்மேல் மனதுருகினார். ஏனெனில், அவர்கள் மேய்ப்பன் இல்லாத ஆடுகளைப்போல் இருந்தார்கள். எனவே அவர் அநேக காரியங்களை அவர்களுக்குப் போதிக்கத் தொடங்கினார்.
On getting out of the boat, Jesus saw a great crowd, and his heart was moved at the sight of them, because they were like sheep without a shepherd; and he began to teach them many things.
35 இவ்வாறு வெகுநேரம் கடந்துவிட்டது. எனவே அவருடைய சீடர்கள் அவரிடம் வந்து, “இது சற்று தூரமான ஒரு இடம், நேரமுமாகிவிட்டது.
When it grew late, his disciples came up to him, and said, ‘This is a lonely spot, and it is already late.
36 ஆகவே இந்த மக்களை அனுப்பிவிடும். அவர்கள் சுற்றியுள்ள ஊர்களுக்கும் கிராமங்களுக்கும் போய், அங்கே தங்களுக்கு வேண்டிய சாப்பாட்டை வாங்கிக்கொள்ளட்டும்” என்றார்கள்.
Send the people away, so that they may go to the farms and villages around and buy themselves something to eat.’
37 அதற்கு இயேசு, “நீங்களே அவர்களுக்கு ஏதாவது சாப்பிடக் கொடுங்கள்” என்றார். சீடர்கள் அவரிடம், “இவர்களுக்காக உணவு வாங்க, ஆறுமாதச் சம்பளம் தேவையாகும்! நாங்கள் போய் அவ்வளவு பணத்தைச் செலவுசெய்து, உணவு வாங்கிக் கொடுக்கவேண்டுமோ?” என்றார்கள்.
But Jesus answered, ‘It is for you to give them something to eat.’ ‘Are we to go and spend almost a year’s wages on bread,’ they asked, ‘to give them to eat?’
38 இயேசு அவர்களிடம், “உங்களிடத்தில் எத்தனை அப்பங்கள் இருக்கின்றன என்று போய்ப் பாருங்கள்” என்றார். சீடர்கள் விசாரித்துப் பார்த்து, “ஐந்து அப்பங்களும், இரண்டு மீன்களும் இருக்கின்றன” என்றார்கள்.
‘How many loaves have you?’ he asked, ‘Go, and see.’ When they had found out, they told him, ‘Five, and two fish.’
39 அப்பொழுது இயேசு, எல்லா மக்களையும் புற்தரையில் கூட்டம் கூட்டமாக உட்காரும்படி சொன்னார்.
Jesus directed them to make all the people take their seats on the green grass, in parties;
40 அப்படியே அவர்கள் நூறுநூறு பேராகவும் ஐம்பதைம்பது பேராகவும் உட்கார்ந்தார்கள்.
and they sat down in groups – in hundreds, and in fifties.
41 இயேசு அந்த ஐந்து அப்பங்களையும் இரண்டு மீன்களையும் எடுத்து, வானத்தை அண்ணார்ந்துப் பார்த்து, நன்றி செலுத்தி அப்பங்களைப் பிட்டார். பின்பு அவர் அந்த அப்பங்களை மக்களுக்குக் கொடுக்கும்படி சீடர்களிடம் கொடுத்தார். அத்துடன் அந்த இரண்டு மீன்களையும் எல்லோருக்கும் பங்கிட்டுக் கொடுத்தார்.
Taking the five loaves and the two fish, Jesus looked up to heaven, and said the blessing; he broke the loaves into pieces, and gave them to his disciples for them to serve out to the people, and he divided the two fish also among them all.
42 அவர்கள் எல்லோரும் சாப்பிட்டுத் திருப்தியடைந்தார்கள்.
Everyone had sufficient to eat;
43 மீதியான அப்பத் துண்டுகளையும் மீன்களையும் சீடர்கள் பன்னிரண்டு கூடை நிறைய எடுத்தார்கள்.
and they picked up enough broken pieces to fill twelve baskets, as well as some of the fish.
44 சாப்பிட்ட ஆண்களின் எண்ணிக்கை ஐயாயிரமாய் இருந்தது.
The people who ate the bread were five thousand in number.
45 பின்பு இயேசு மக்கள் கூட்டத்தை அனுப்பிக் கொண்டிருக்கையில், தனக்கு முன்பாகவே சீடரை படகில் ஏறி பெத்சாயிதாவுக்கு போகும்படிச் செய்தார்.
Immediately afterwards Jesus made his disciples get into the boat, and cross over in advance, in the direction of Bethsaida, while he himself was dismissing the crowd.
46 இயேசு அவர்களைவிட்டுப் புறப்பட்டப் பின்பு, மன்றாடும்படி மலையின்மேல் ஏறினார்.
After he had taken leave of the people, he went away up the hill to pray.
47 இரவு வேளையானபோது, சீடர்கள் ஏறிச்சென்ற படகு நடுக்கடலில் போய்க்கொண்டிருந்தது. அவரோ கரையிலே தனிமையாக இருந்தார்.
When evening fell, the boat was out in the middle of the sea, and Jesus on the shore alone.
48 எதிர்காற்று வீசியபடியால், சீடர்கள் படகைக் கட்டுப்படுத்தக் கஷ்டப்பட்டுக் கொண்டிருந்ததை இயேசு கண்டார்; அதிகாலை மூன்றாம்மணி நேரத்தில், இயேசு கடலின்மேல் நடந்து அவர்களிடம் சென்றார். அவர் அவர்களைக் கடந்துபோகும்போது,
Seeing them labouring at the oars – for the wind was against them – about three hours after midnight Jesus came towards them, walking on the water, intending to join them.
49 இயேசு கடலின்மேல் நடப்பதை அவர்கள் கண்டு, அவரை ஒரு பேய் என்று நினைத்து அலறினார்கள்.
But, when they saw him walking on the water, they thought it was a ghost, and cried out;
50 ஏனெனில் அவர்கள் அவரைக்கண்டு பயந்தார்கள். உடனே இயேசு அவர்களுடன் பேசி, “தைரியமாயிருங்கள்! நான்தான். பயப்படாதிருங்கள்” என்றார்.
for all of them saw him, and were terrified. But Jesus at once spoke to them. ‘Courage!’ he said, ‘it is I; do not be afraid!’
51 பின்பு இயேசு, அவர்களுடன் அந்தப் படகில் ஏறிக்கொண்டார். அப்பொழுது காற்று அமர்ந்து போயிற்று. அவர்கள் மிகவும் வியப்படைந்தார்கள்.
Then he got into the boat with them, and the wind dropped. The disciples were utterly amazed,
52 ஏனெனில் அப்பங்களைப் பிட்டு அநேகருக்கு அவர் கொடுத்ததைக் கண்டும், அவர்கள் அதன் கருத்தைப் புரிந்துகொள்ளவில்லை. அவர்களுடைய இருதயங்கள் உணர்வற்று கடினமாயிருந்தன.
for they had not understood about the loaves, their minds being slow to learn.
53 அவர்கள் மறுகரைக்குச் சென்று, கெனேசரேத்து என்னும் இடத்தில் கரையைப் பிடித்தார்கள்.
When they had crossed over, they landed at Gennesaret, and moored the boat.
54 அவர்கள் படகைவிட்டு இறங்கிய உடனேயே, அங்கிருந்த மக்கள் இயேசுவை அடையாளம் கண்டுகொண்டார்கள்.
But they had no sooner left her than the people, recognising Jesus,
55 அந்தப் பகுதி எங்கும் அவர்கள் ஓடிப்போய், நோயாளிகளைப் படுக்கையின்மேல் கிடத்தி சுமந்துகொண்டு, இயேசு எங்கிருப்பதாகக் கேள்விப்பட்டார்களோ, அங்கெல்லாம் கொண்டுவந்தார்கள்.
hurried over the whole countryside, and began to carry about on mats those who were ill, wherever they heard he was.
56 கிராமங்களிலும், பட்டணங்களிலும், ஊர்களிலும் இயேசு எங்கெல்லாம் சென்றாரோ, அங்கெல்லாம் இருந்த சந்தைகூடும் இடங்களில் நோயாளிகளைக் கிடத்தினார்கள். அந்த நோயாளிகள் அவருடைய ஆடையின் ஓரத்தையாகிலும் தொடுவதற்கு அனுமதிக்கும்படி, அவர்கள் இயேசுவைக் கெஞ்சிக் கேட்டார்கள். அவரைத் தொட்ட யாவரும் குணமடைந்தார்கள்.
So wherever he went – to villages, or towns, or farms – they would lay their sick in the market-places, begging him to let them touch only the tassel of his cloak; and all who touched were made well.
