நியாயாதிபதிகள் 1

1 யோசுவா இறந்தபின் இஸ்ரயேலர் யெகோவாவிடம், “கானானியரை எதிர்த்து எங்களுக்காக சண்டையிட முதலில் போகவேண்டியது யார்?” என்று கேட்டார்கள்.

Aftir the deeth of Josue the sones of Israel counseliden the Lord, and seiden, Who schal stie bifor vs ayens Cananei, and schal be duik of the batel?

2 அதற்கு யெகோவா, “யூதா கோத்திரம் போகவேண்டும். அவர்களின் கையில் நான் இந்த நாட்டை ஒப்புக்கொடுத்திருக்கிறேன்” எனப் பதிலளித்தார்.

And the Lord seide, Judas schal stie; lo! Y haue youe the lond in to hise hondis.

3 அப்பொழுது யூதாவின் மனிதர்கள் அவர்களின் சகோதரர்களான சிமியோனியரிடம், “நீங்கள் எங்களுடன் சேர்ந்து எங்களுக்காக ஒதுக்கப்பட்ட பிரதேசத்துக்குள் சென்று கானானியருடன் சண்டையிட வாருங்கள். அதற்குப் பதில் நாங்களும் உங்களுடன் சேர்ந்து உங்கள் பிரதேசத்துக்காகச் சண்டையிட வருவோம்” என்றார்கள். எனவே சிமியோனியர் அவர்களுடன் சென்றார்கள்.

And Juda seide to Symeon, his brother, Stie thou with me in my lot, and fiyte thou ayens Cananei, that Y go with thee in thi lot.

4 யூதா கோத்திரத்தினர் தாக்கியபோது யெகோவா கானானியரையும், பெரிசியரையும் அவர்கள் கையில் கொடுத்தார், அவர்கள் பேஸேக்கில் பத்தாயிரம் மனிதர்களை வெட்டி வீழ்த்தினார்கள்.

And Symeon yede with hym; and Judas stiede. And the Lord bitook Cananey and Feresei in to `the hondis of hem, and thei killiden in Besech ten thousynde of men.

5 அங்கேயே அதோனிபேஸேக் அரசனைச் சந்தித்து அவனுக்கெதிராகச் சண்டையிட்டு கானானியரையும், பெரிசியரையும் முறியடித்தார்கள்.

And thei founden Adonybozech in Besech, and thei fouyten ayens hym, and smytiden Cananei, and Feresey.

6 அதோனிபேஸேக்கோ தப்பியோடினான். ஆனாலும் அவர்கள் அவனைத் துரத்திப் பிடித்து அவனுடைய கை பெருவிரல்களையும், கால் பெருவிரல்களையும் வெட்டிப் போட்டார்கள்.

Forsothe Adonybozech fledde, whom thei pursueden, and token, and kittiden the endis of hise hondis and feet.

7 அப்பொழுது அதோனிபேஸேக், “எழுபது அரசர்கள் தங்கள் கைகளின் பெருவிரல்களும், கால்களின் பெருவிரல்களும் வெட்டப்பட்டவர்களாய் எனது மேஜையிலிருந்துகீழ் விழும் துணிக்கைகளைப் பொறுக்கித் தின்றார்கள். இப்பொழுதோ நான் அவர்களுக்குச் செய்ததை இறைவன் எனக்குச் செய்திருக்கிறார்” என்று சொன்னான். அவர்கள் அவனை எருசலேமுக்குக் கொண்டுவந்தார்கள். அங்கே அவன் இறந்தான்.

And Adonybozech seide, Seuenti kyngis, whanne the endis of hondis and feet weren kit awey, gaderiden relifs of metis vndur my bord; as Y dide, so God hath yolde to me. And thei brouyten hym in to Jerusalem, and there he diede.

8 யூதாவின் மனிதர் எருசலேமைத் தாக்கி அதைக் கைப்பற்றினார்கள். அவர்கள் பட்டணத்திலுள்ளவர்களை வெட்டி, அதற்கு நெருப்பு வைத்தார்கள்.

Therfor the sones of Juda fouyten ayens Jerusalem, and token it, and smytiden bi the scharpnesse of swerd, and bitoken al the cytee to brennyng.

9 அதன்பின்பு யூதா மனிதர் நெகேவிலும், மேற்குத் திசையிலுள்ள மலையடிவாரங்களிலும் வாழ்ந்த கானானியரை எதிர்த்துச் சண்டையிடப்போனார்கள்.

And aftirward thei yeden doun, and fouyten ayens Cananey, that dwellide in the hilli places, and at the south, in `feeldi places.

10 அவர்கள் எப்ரோனில் வாழ்ந்த கானானியரை எதிர்த்து முன்னேறிப்போனார்கள். எப்ரோன் முற்காலத்தில் கீரியாத் அர்பா என அழைக்கப்பட்டது. அவர்கள் அங்கே சேசாய், அகீமான், தல்மாய் என்பவர்களைத் தோற்கடித்தார்கள்.

And Judas yede ayens Cananei, that dwellide in Ebron, whos name was bi eld tyme Cariatharbe; and Judas killide Sisay, and Achyman, and Tholmai.

11 அங்கிருந்து அவர்கள் தெபீரில் வாழும் மக்களை எதிர்த்து முன்னேறிப்போனார்கள். தெபீர் முற்காலத்தில் கீரியாத் செபேர் என அழைக்கப்பட்டது.

And fro thennus he yede forth, and yede to the dwelleris of Dabir, whos eld name was Cariathsepher, that is, the citee of lettris.

12 அப்பொழுது காலேப், “கீரியாத் செபேரைத் தாக்கி கைப்பற்றுபவனுக்கு நான் என் மகள் அக்சாளை திருமணம் செய்துகொடுப்பேன்” என்றான்.

And Caleph seide, Y schal yyue Axa, my douyter, wijf to hym that schal smyte Cariathsepher, and schal waste it.

13 காலேபின் தம்பி, கேனாஸின் மகன் ஒத்னியேல் அந்நகரைக் கைப்பற்றினான். எனவே காலேப் தன் மகள் அக்சாளை அவனுக்குத் திருமணம் செய்துகொடுத்தான்.

And whanne Othonyel, sone of Seneth, the lesse brother of Caleph, hadde take it, Caleph yaf Axa, his douyter, wijf to hym.

14 அவள் தன் கணவன் ஒத்னியேலிடம் வந்தபோது, அவன் அவளை உன் தகப்பனிடம், “நீ ஒரு வயல் நிலத்தைக் கேள்” என்று தூண்டினான். அவள் போய் தனது கழுதையிலிருந்து இறங்கியபோது காலேப் அவளிடம், “நான் உனக்கு என்ன செய்யவேண்டும்?” என்று கேட்டான்.

15 அதற்கு அவள், “நீர் எனக்கு ஒரு முக்கியமான உதவிசெய்ய வேண்டும். நீர் எனக்கு நெகேப்பில் வறண்ட நிலத்தைத் தந்திருக்கிறீர். ஆகையால் நீரூற்றுகள் உள்ள நிலப்பகுதியையும் தாரும்” என்று கேட்டாள். அப்பொழுது காலேப் மேற்புறத்திலும், கீழ்ப்புறத்திலும் நீரூற்றுள்ள நிலத்தையும் அவளுக்குக் கொடுத்தான்.

And sche answeride, Yiue thou blessyng to me, for thou hast youe a drye lond to me; yyue thou also a moyst lond with watris. And Caleph yaf to hir the moist lond aboue, and the moist lond bynethe.

16 கேனியனான மோசேயின் மாமனின் சந்ததிகள் யூதாவின் மக்களுடன் பேரீச்சமரங்களின் பட்டணங்களிலிருந்து புறப்பட்டு, யூதாவின் பாலைவனத்திலுள்ள மக்கள் மத்தியில் வாழும்படி போனார்கள். இந்த பாலைவனம் ஆராத்தின் நெகேபில் இருக்கிறது.

17 அதன்பின்பு யூதாவின் மனிதர் தங்கள் சகோதரரான சிமியோனியருடன் சென்று சேப்பாத்தில் வாழ்ந்த கானானியரைத் தாக்கி, அப்பட்டணம் முழுவதையும் அழித்தார்கள். அதனால் அந்த இடம் ஓர்மா என அழைக்கப்பட்டது.

Sotheli Judas yede with Symeon, his brother; and thei smytiden togidere Cananei, that dwellide in Sephar, and killiden hym; and the name of that citee was clepid Horma, that is, cursyng, `ether perfit distriyng, for thilke citee was distried outerly.

18 இவற்றுடன் யூதாவின் மனிதர் காசா, அஸ்கலோன், எக்ரோன் ஆகிய பட்டணங்களையும், அதன் சுற்றுப்புறங்களையும் கைப்பற்றினர்.

And Judas took Gaza with hise coostis, and Ascolon, and Accaron with hise termes.

19 யெகோவா யூதாவின் மனிதர்களுடன் இருந்தார். அவர்கள் மலைநாட்டைத் தங்களுக்கு உரிமையாக்கிக்கொண்டார்கள். ஆனால் சமவெளிகளில் உள்ள மக்களை விரட்ட அவர்களால் முடியவில்லை. ஏனெனில் அவர்களிடம் இரும்பு இரதங்கள் இருந்தன.

And the Lord was with Judas, and he `hadde in possessioun the hilli places; and he myyte not do awey the dwelleris of the valei, for thei weren plenteuouse in `yrun charis, scharpe as sithis.

20 மோசே வாக்குக் கொடுத்தபடி எப்ரோன் காலேப்புக்குக் கொடுக்கப்பட்டது. அவன் அங்கிருந்து ஏனாக்கின் மூன்று மகன்களைத் துரத்திவிட்டான்.

And `the sones of Israel yauen Ebron to Caleph, as Moises hadde seid, which Caleph dide awei for it thre sones of Enach.

21 ஆயினும் பென்யமீனியர் எருசலேமில் வாழ்ந்த எபூசியரை வெளியேற்றத் தவறிவிட்டனர். அதனால் இன்றுவரை எபூசியர் இன்னும் அங்கே பென்யமீனியருடன் வாழ்கின்றனர்.

Forsothe the sones of Beniamyn diden not awei Jebusei, the dwellere of Jerusalem; and Jebusei dwellide with the sones of Beniamyn in Jerusalem `til in to present dai.

22 இப்போது யோசேப்பு குடும்பத்தார் பெத்தேலைத் தாக்கினார்கள். யெகோவா அவர்களோடுகூட இருந்தார்.

Also the hows of Joseph stiede in to Bethel, and the Lord was with hem.

23 அவர்கள் பெத்தேலுக்கு உளவுபார்க்க மனிதரை அனுப்பினார்கள். பெத்தேல் முற்காலத்தில் லூஸ் என்று அழைக்கப்பட்டது.

For whanne thei bisegiden the citee, that was clepid Lusa bifore,

24 அப்போது உளவாளிகள் பட்டணத்திலிருந்து ஒரு மனிதன் வெளியேவருவதைக் கண்டு அவனிடம், “பட்டணத்திற்குள் எப்படிப் போவது என்று எங்களுக்கு காட்டு. அப்பொழுது உன்னை நன்றாய் நடத்துவோம்” என்றனர்.

thei sien a man goynge out of the citee, and thei seiden to hym, Schewe thou to vs the entrynge of the cytee, and we schulen do mercy with thee.

25 எனவே அவன் அவர்களுக்கு வழிகாட்டினான். அவர்கள் அந்தப் பட்டணம் முழுவதையும் வாளுக்கு இரையாக்கினார்கள். ஆனால் அந்த மனிதனையும் அவனுடைய முழுக் குடும்பத்தையும் தப்பவிட்டார்கள்.

And whanne he hadde schewid to hem, thei smytiden the citee bi scharpnes of swerd; sotheli thei delyueriden that man and al his kynrede.

26 அதன்பின்பு அவன் ஏத்தியரின் நாட்டிற்குப்போய் அங்கே ஒரு பட்டணத்தைக் கட்டி அதற்கு, “லூஸ்” என்று பெயரிட்டான். அது இந்நாள்வரைக்கும் அந்தப் பெயராலேயே அழைக்கப்படுகிறது.

And he was delyuerede, and yede in to the lond of Sethym, and bildide there a citee, and clepid it Luzam; which is clepid so til in to present dai.

27 ஆனால் மனாசே கோத்திரம், பெத்ஷான், தானாக், தோர், இப்லேயாம், மெகிதோ ஆகிய இடங்களிலுள்ள மக்களையும், அத்துடன் அவற்றைச் சுற்றியுள்ள குடியிருப்புகளில் இருக்கிற மக்களையும் துரத்திவிடவில்லை. ஏனெனில் கானானியரும் அந்த நாட்டிலேயே குடியிருப்பதற்கு உறுதிகொண்டிருந்தார்கள்.

Also Manasses dide not awei Bethsan and Thanael with her townes, and the dwelleris of Endor, and Geblaam and Magedo with her townes; and Cananei bigan to dwelle with hem.

28 ஆனால் இஸ்ரயேல் மக்கள் பெலன் கொண்டபோது, அவர்கள் கானானியரைத் தங்களுக்குக் கட்டாய வேலை செய்யும்படி நிர்பந்தப்படுத்தினார்கள். ஆயினும் அவர்களை முழுவதும் வெளியே துரத்திவிடவில்லை.

Sotheli after that Israel was coumfortid, he made hem tributaries, `ethir to paye tribute, and nolde do awey hem.

29 எப்பிராயீம் கோத்திரத்தாரும் கேசேரில் குடியிருந்த கானானியரை வெளியே துரத்திவிடவில்லை. எனவே கானானியரோ தொடர்ந்து அவர்களுடனே வாழ்ந்துவந்தார்கள்.

Sotheli Effraym killide not Cananei that dwellyde in Gaser, but dwellide with hym.

30 அத்துடன் செபுலோன் கோத்திரமும் கித்ரோனிலும் நாகலோனிலும் வாழ்ந்த கானானியரைத் துரத்திவிடவில்லை. கானானியர் செபுலோனியர் மத்தியில் வாழ்ந்தனர். அவர்களைக் கட்டாய வேலைசெய்ய கீழ்ப்படுத்தினர்.

Zabulon dide not awey the dwelleris of Cethron, and of Naalon; but Cananei dwellide in the myddis of hym, and was maad tributarie to him.

31 ஆசேர் கோத்திரம் அக்கோ, சீதோன், அக்லாப், அக்சீப் எல்பா, ஆப்பெக், ரேகோப் பட்டணங்களில் வாழ்ந்தவர்களைத் துரத்திவிடவில்லை.

Also Aser dide not awey the dwelleris of Acho, and of Sidon, of Alab, and of Azazib, and of Alba, and Aphech, and of Aloa, and of Pha, and of Roob; and he dwellide in the myddis of Cananey,

32 இதனால் ஆசேர் மக்கள் அந்த கானானிய குடிகளின் மத்தியில் வாழ்ந்தனர். ஏனெனில் அவர்களை ஆசேர் மக்கள் துரத்திவிடவில்லை.

dwellere of that lond, and killide not hym.

33 நப்தலி கோத்திரம் பெத்ஷிமேஷிலும், பெத் ஆனாத்திலும் வாழ்ந்தவர்களைத் துரத்திவிடவில்லை. அதனால் நப்தலி கோத்திரம் அந்த நாட்டின் கானானிய குடிகளின் மத்தியில் வாழ்ந்தார்கள். பெத்ஷிமேஷிலும் பெத் ஆனாத்திலும் வாழ்ந்த கானானியர் அவர்களுக்குக் கட்டாய வேலைக்காரராயினர்.

Neptalym dide not awei the dwelleris of Bethsames, and of Bethanach; and he dwellide among Cananey, dwellere of the lond; and Bethsamytis and Bethanytis weren tributarie to hym.

34 எமோரியர் தாண் கோத்திரத்தை மலைநாட்டிற்குள்ளேயே அடைத்து வைத்திருந்தனர். அவர்களைச் சமவெளிக்குவர அனுமதிக்கவில்லை.

And Ammorrey helde streit the sones of Dan in the hil, and yaf not place to hem to go doun to pleynere places;

35 எமோரியர் ஏரேஸ் மலையிலும், ஆயலோனிலும், சால்பீமிலும் தங்கள் நிலங்களை உறுதிப்படுத்தத் தீர்மானித்தனர். ஆயினும் யோசேப்பு குடும்பத்தின் பலம் அதிகரித்தபோது, எமோரியரும் கட்டாய வேலைசெய்ய நிர்ப்பந்திக்கப்பட்டார்கள்.

and he dwellide in the hil of Hares, `which is interpretid, Witnessyng, in Hailon, and in Salabym. And the hond of the hows of Joseph was maad heuy, and he was maad tributarie to hym.

36 எமோரியரின் எல்லை அக்கராபீம் மேடுவரை சென்று, சேலாவரை போய் அதற்கு அப்பாலும் தொடர்கிறது.

And the terme of Ammorrei was fro the stiyng of Scorpioun, and the stoon, and hiyere places.
