நியாயாதிபதிகள் 2
1 யெகோவாவின் தூதனானவர் கில்காலில் இருந்து போகீமுக்குப் போய் சொன்னதாவது: “நான் உங்களை எகிப்திலிருந்து வெளியே கொண்டுவந்து உங்கள் முற்பிதாக்களுக்குத் தருவேன் என்று நான் வாக்களித்த நாட்டிற்கு, நான் உங்களை வழிநடத்தி வந்தேன். நான் உங்களுடன் செய்துகொண்ட உடன்படிக்கையை மீறமாட்டேன் என்றும்,
And the messenger of Yahweh came up from Gilgal, unto Bochim. And he said—I led you up out of Egypt, and brought you into the land, which I had sworn unto your fathers, And I said, I will not break my covenant with you, to times age-abiding;
2 இந்நாட்டு மக்களோடு எந்த உடன்படிக்கையையும் நீங்கள் செய்யவேண்டாம் என்றும், அவர்களுடைய பலிபீடங்களை உடைத்துப்போடும்படியும் நான் உங்களுக்குச் சொன்னேன். ஆனால் நீங்களோ அதற்கு கீழ்ப்படியவில்லை. நீங்கள் ஏன் இப்படிச் செய்தீர்கள்?
But, ye, must not solemnise a covenant with the inhabitants of this land, Their altars, must ye tear down, —But ye have not hearkened unto my voice, what is this ye have done?
3 அதனால் இப்பொழுது நான் உங்களுக்குச் சொல்கிறேன்; உங்களுக்கு முன்பாக நான் அவர்களைத் துரத்தமாட்டேன்; அவர்கள் உங்கள் விலாக்களுக்கு, குத்தும் முள்ளாக இருப்பார்கள். அவர்களின் தெய்வங்கள் உங்களுக்கு கண்ணியாகவும் இருக்கும்.”
Wherefore also I said, I will not drive them out from before you, —but they shall be your adversaries, and, their gods, shall become unto you a snare.
4 யெகோவாவின் தூதனானவர் இவற்றை எல்லா இஸ்ரயேலர்களிடமும் சொன்னபோது மக்கள் சத்தமிட்டு அழுதார்கள்.
And it came to pass, when the messenger of Yahweh had spoken these words unto all the sons of Israel, that the people lifted up their voice, and wept.
5 அவர்கள் அந்த இடத்தை போகீம் என்று அழைத்தார்கள். அங்கேயே அவர்கள் யெகோவாவுக்குப் பலிகளைச் செலுத்தினார்கள்.
So they called the name of that place, Bochim, and offered sacrifice there, unto Yahweh.
6 முன்பு யோசுவா இஸ்ரயேலரைப் போக அனுமதித்தபோது, அவர்கள் அந்த நாட்டை உரிமையாக்கிக்கொள்ளும்படி போனார்கள். ஒவ்வொருவரும் தங்கள் உரிமைச்சொத்தைப் பெறும்படி போனார்கள்.
Now, when Joshua had let the people go, the sons of Israel went their way, every man to his inheritance, to take possession of the land.
7 மக்கள் யோசுவாவின் வாழ்நாள் முழுவதும் யெகோவாவுக்குப் பணிசெய்தனர். யெகோவா இஸ்ரயேலருக்காகச் செய்த எல்லாப் பெரிய செயல்களையும் கண்டிருந்த, யோசுவாவுக்குப் பின் வாழ்ந்த சபைத்தலைவர்களின் காலத்திலும் மக்கள் யெகோவாவுக்கு சேவை செய்தார்கள்.
And the people served Yahweh all the days of Joshua, —and all the days of the elders who outlived Joshua, who had seen all the great work of Yahweh which he had wrought for Israel.
8 யெகோவாவின் அடியவனும், நூனின் மகனுமான யோசுவா நூற்றுப்பத்து வயதில் இறந்தான்.
So then Joshua, the son of Nun, the servant of Yahweh, died, —being a hundred and ten years old.
9 அவர்கள் திம்னாத் ஏரேஸில் அவனுடைய உரிமைச்சொத்தான நிலத்தில் அவனுடைய உடலை அடக்கம்பண்ணினார்கள். இது காயாஸ் மலைக்கு வடக்கே எப்பிராயீம் மலைநாட்டில் இருக்கிறது.
And they buried him within the bounds of his inheritance, in Timnath-heres, in the hill country of Ephraim, —on the north of Mount Gaash.
10 அதன்பின்பு அந்த எல்லா தலைமுறையினரும் தங்கள் தந்தையருடன் சேர்க்கப்பட்டபின், யெகோவாவையும் அவர் இஸ்ரயேல் மக்களுக்குச் செய்தவற்றையும் அறியாத வேறு ஒரு தலைமுறை தோன்றியது.
All that generation also, were gathered unto their fathers, —and there arose another generation, after them, who had not known Yahweh, nor even the work which he had wrought for Israel.
11 அப்பொழுது இஸ்ரயேலர் யெகோவாவின் பார்வையில் தீமையானதைச் செய்து, பாகால் தெய்வங்களுக்குப் பணிசெய்தனர்.
So the sons of Israel did the thing that was wicked in the sight of Yahweh, —and served the Baals;
12 அவர்கள் தங்களை எகிப்திலிருந்து வெளியே கொண்டுவந்த தங்கள் முற்பிதாக்களின் யெகோவாவாகிய இறைவனை கைவிட்டார்கள். தங்களைச் சுற்றியிருந்த மக்களின் பலவிதமான தெய்வங்களைப் பின்பற்றி வணங்கினார்கள். யெகோவாவுக்கு கோபமூட்டினார்கள்.
and forsook Yahweh, the God of their fathers, who brought them up out of the land of Egypt, and went after other gods, from among the gods of the peoples who were round about them, and bowed themselves down unto them, —and angered Yahweh.
13 அவர்கள் யெகோவாவைக் கைவிட்டு பாகாலுக்கும், அஸ்தரோத்துக்கும் பணிசெய்ததினாலேயே யெகோவாவுக்குக் கோபமூட்டினார்கள்.
Yea, they forsook Yahweh, —and did service unto the Baal and unto Ashtaroth.
14 இஸ்ரயேலருக்கு விரோதமாக யெகோவா கோபங்கொண்டு அவர் அவர்களைக் கொள்ளைக்காரரிடத்தில் ஒப்படைக்க, அவர்களும் அவர்களைக் கொள்ளையடித்தார்கள். அவர் அவர்களைச் சுற்றிலுமிருந்த அவர்களுடைய பகைவர்களுக்கு விற்றுப்போட்டார், அந்தப் பகைவர்களைத் தொடர்ந்து அவர்களால் எதிர்க்க முடியவில்லை.
Then kindled the anger of Yahweh upon Israel, and he delivered them into the hand of spoilers, who plundered them, —and he sold them into the hand of their enemies round about, so that they could no longer stand before their enemies.
15 இஸ்ரயேலர் சண்டையிடப் போகும்போதெல்லாம், யெகோவா அவர்களுக்கு ஆணையிட்டபடி யெகோவாவின் கரம் அவர்களுக்கெதிராக இருந்து அவர்களைத் தோல்வியுறச் செய்தது. அவர்கள் பெரும் துயரத்திற்குள்ளானார்கள்.
Whithersoever they went out, the hand of Yahweh was found to be against them for misfortune, as spake Yahweh, and as sware Yahweh unto them, —and they were distressed exceedingly.
16 அக்காலத்தில் யெகோவா நீதிபதிகளை நியமித்தார். அவர்கள் இஸ்ரயேல் மக்களை கொள்ளையரின் கைகளிலிருந்து மீட்டுக்கொண்டார்கள்.
And, though Yahweh raised up judges, —who saved them out of the hand of them that plundered them,
17 ஆயினும் அவர்கள் அந்த நீதிபதிகளுக்கு செவிகொடுக்க மறுத்து, அந்நிய தெய்வங்களை வணங்கி விபசாரம் செய்தார்கள். யெகோவாவின் கட்டளைக்கு கீழ்படிந்த அவர்களின் முன்னோரின் வழியில் நடக்காமல், அவர்கள் விரைவில் வழிவிலகினார்கள்.
yet, even unto their judges, did thy not hearken, for they went unchastely astray after other gods, and bowed themselves down to them, —they turned aside speedily out of the way wherein their fathers who hearkened unto the commandments of Yahweh, walked, they did not so.
18 யெகோவா அவர்களுக்காக நீதிபதியை நியமித்தபோதெல்லாம், அவர் அந்த நீதிபதியோடுகூட இருந்து, அவர்களுடைய எதிரிகளிடமிருந்து நீதிபதியின் வாழ்நாளெல்லாம் அவர்களைப் பாதுகாத்தார். அவர்கள் தங்கள் பகைவர்களினால் ஒடுக்கப்பட்ட வேதனைக் குரலைக் கேட்டு யெகோவா அவர்களுக்கு இரங்கினார்.
And, when Yahweh raised them up judges, then was Yahweh with the judges, and saved them out of the hand of their enemies, all the days of the judge, —for Yahweh was grieved at their outcry, because of them who oppressed them, and ill-treated them.
19 ஆனால் அந்த நீதிபதி இறந்தவுடன், இஸ்ரயேல் மக்கள் திரும்பவும் தங்கள் முன்னோரைவிட தூய்மையற்ற வழியில் நடந்தார்கள். அந்நிய தெய்வங்களைப் பின்பற்றி வணங்கி அதற்கு சேவை செய்தார்கள். அவர்கள் இப்படி தங்கள் தீய நடத்தைகளிலிருந்தும் பிடிவாதமான வழிகளிலிருந்தும் விடுபட மறுத்தார்கள்.
But, when the judge was dead, they again broke faith more than their fathers, by going their way after other gods, by serving them, and bowing themselves down to them, —they ceased not from their doings nor from their stubborn way.
20 அப்பொழுது யெகோவா இஸ்ரயேலின்மேல் கோபம் மூண்டவராகி, “இந்த மக்கள் நான் அவர்களின் முற்பிதாக்களுடன் செய்துகொண்ட உடன்படிக்கையை மீறிவிட்டார்கள். எனக்குச் செவிகொடுக்கவில்லை.
So then the anger of Yahweh kindled upon Israel, and he said—Forasmuch as this nation have transgressed my covenant, which I commanded their fathers, and have not hearkened unto my voice,
21 அதனால் யோசுவா இறக்கும்போது, அழிக்காமல் விட்டுச்சென்ற எந்த நாட்டையும் இவர்களுக்கு முன்பாக துரத்திவிடமாட்டேன்.
I also, will no further dispossess a man from before them, —from among the nations which Joshua left remaining, when he died;
22 ஆனால் நான் இவர்களைக்கொண்டு இஸ்ரயேலர்கள் தங்கள் முற்பிதாக்கள் நடந்ததுபோல, யெகோவாவின் வழியைக் கைக்கொண்டு அதில் நடக்கிறார்களோ, இல்லையோ என இஸ்ரயேலரைச் சோதிப்பேன்” என்றார்.
that I may, by them, put Israel to the proof, —whether they are going to be observant of the way of Yahweh, to walk therein as their fathers observed it, or not.
23 எனவே யெகோவா அந்த நாடுகளை அப்படியே தொடர்ந்து இருக்க விட்டிருந்தார்; அவர்களை யோசுவாவின் கையில் ஒப்புக்கொடுக்கவோ, உடனே துரத்திவிடவோ இல்லை.
Thus then Yahweh left these nations, not dispossessing them speedily, —neither had he delivered them into the hand of Joshua
