நியாயாதிபதிகள் 19
1 அந்நாட்களில் இஸ்ரயேலில் அரசன் இருக்கவில்லை. அக்காலத்தில் எப்பிராயீம் மலைநாட்டின் ஒரு ஒதுக்குப்புற பகுதியில் லேவியன் ஒருவன் நெடுங்காலமாகக் குடியிருந்தான். அவன் யூதாவிலுள்ள பெத்லெகேம் ஊரைச்சேர்ந்த ஒரு பெண்ணை வைப்பாட்டியாக வைத்திருந்தான்.
It happened in those days, when there was no king in Israel, that there was a certain Levite sojourning on the farther side of the hill country of Ephraim, who took for himself a secondary wife from Bethlehem Judah.
2 ஆனால் அவளோ அவனுக்குத் துரோகம்செய்து அவனைவிட்டுப் பிரிந்து, யூதாவிலுள்ள பெத்லெகேமுக்குத் தன் தகப்பன் வீட்டுக்குப்போய் நான்கு மாதம் அங்கே தங்கியிருந்தாள்.
His secondary wife was angry with him and went away from him to her father's house in Bethlehem of Judah, and was there about four months.
3 அதன்பின் அவளது கணவன் அவளை இணங்கப்பண்ணி மீண்டும் அழைத்து வருவதற்காக அவளிடத்திற்குப் போனான். அவன் தனது வேலைக்காரனோடும், இரண்டு கழுதைகளோடும் போனான். அவள் அவனைத் தன் தகப்பன் வீட்டுக்கு அழைத்துச்சென்றாள். அவள் தகப்பன் அவனைக் கண்டபோது, மகிழ்ச்சியோடு வரவேற்றான்.
Her husband arose, and went after her, to speak kindly to her, to bring her again, having his servant with him, and a couple of donkeys. And she brought him into her father's house; and when the father of the young woman saw him, he rejoiced to meet him.
4 அப்பெண்ணின் தகப்பனான அவனுடைய மாமன் அவனைத் தங்களுடன் இருக்கும்படி கேட்டுக்கொண்டான். எனவே அவன் மூன்று நாட்கள் அங்கே சாப்பிட்டுக் குடித்து, நித்திரை செய்தான்.
His father-in-law, the young woman's father, welcomed him; and he stayed with him three days. So they ate and drank and stayed there.
5 அவர்கள் நான்காம் நாள் அதிகாலையில் எழுந்தார்கள். அவன் பிரயாணத்திற்கு ஆயத்தமானான். ஆனால் பெண்ணின் தகப்பன் தன் மருமகனிடம், “நீ கொஞ்சம் உணவு சாப்பிட்டபின் போகலாமே” என்றான்.
It happened on the fourth day, that they arose early in the morning, and he rose up to depart: and the young woman's father said to his son-in-law, "Refresh yourself with a piece of bread, and after that you may go."
6 எனவே இருவரும் ஒன்றாக அமர்ந்து சாப்பிட்டுக் குடித்தார்கள். பின்பு அப்பெண்ணின் தகப்பன், “தயவுசெய்து இன்றிரவும் நீ இங்கே தங்கி மகிழ்ந்திரு” எனக் கேட்டுக்கொண்டான்.
So they sat down, ate, and drank, both of them together. Then the young woman's father said to the man, "Please agree to stay the night, and enjoy yourself."
7 திரும்பவும் அவன் எழுந்து புறப்படுகையில் அவனுடைய மாமன் வற்புறுத்திக் கேட்டுக்கொண்டதால் அன்று இரவும் அங்கு தங்கினான்.
The man rose up to depart; but his father-in-law urged him, and he stayed there again.
8 ஐந்தாம் நாள் காலையில் அவன் புறப்படுகையில் அந்தப் பெண்ணின் தகப்பன், “நீ உணவு சாப்பிட்டு மத்தியானத்திற்குப்பின் போகலாம்” என்று சொன்னான். எனவே இருவரும் ஒன்றாகச் சாப்பிட்டார்கள்.
He arose early in the morning on the fifth day to depart; and the young woman's father said, "Please refresh yourself and stay until the day declines." And the two of them ate and drank.
9 பின்பு அவன் தனது வைப்பாட்டியுடனும், வேலைக்காரனுடனும் எழுந்து புறப்பட்டான்; அப்பொழுது பெண்ணின் தகப்பனான அவனுடைய மாமன் அவனிடம், “இப்பொழுது சாயங்காலமாயிற்று; இந்த நாளும் முடியப்போகிறது. எனவே இன்றிரவும் இங்கேயே தங்கி மகிழ்ந்திரு. நாளை அதிகாலையில் எழுந்து நீ வீட்டுக்குப் போகலாம்” என்று சொன்னான்.
When the man rose up with his secondary wife and his servant to leave, his father-in-law, the young woman's father, said to him, "Look, now the day draws toward evening, please stay the night. Look, the day grows to an end, stay here, and enjoy yourself; and tomorrow you can get up early for your journey so that you may go home."
10 ஆனால் அவன் அந்த இரவும் அங்கு தங்கியிருக்க விரும்பாததால், தன் பொதி ஏற்றிய இரண்டு கழுதைகளுடனும், வைப்பாட்டியுடனும் எருசலேம் என அழைக்கப்பட்ட எபூசுக்குப் போனான்.
But the man wouldn't stay that night, but he rose up and departed, and went toward Jebus (that is, Jerusalem). And there were with him a couple of saddled donkeys, and his secondary wife and his servant were with him.
11 அவர்கள் எபூசுவை நெருங்கிக் கொண்டிருக்கையில், இருட்டிக் கொண்டிருந்ததினால் வேலைக்காரன் தன் தலைவனிடம், “வாரும், எபூசியர் இருக்கும் இந்தப் பட்டணத்தில் தங்கி இந்த இரவைக் கழிப்போம்” என்று சொன்னான்.
When they were by Jebus, the day was almost gone, and the servant said to his master, "Please come and let us stop at this city of the Jebusites, and spend the night in it."
12 அதற்கு அவன் தலைவன், “இல்லை; இவர்கள் இஸ்ரயேலர் அல்லாததால் இவர்களின் பட்டணத்திற்குள் நாம் போகக்கூடாது. நாம் கிபியா பட்டணத்திற்குப் போவோம்” என்று சொன்னான்.
His master said to him, "We won't go into the city of a foreigner that is not of the children of Israel, but we will pass over to Gibeah."
13 மேலும் அவன், “வாருங்கள் நாங்கள் கிபியாவுக்கோ, ராமாவுக்கோ போய்ச் சேர்ந்து அவை ஒன்றில் இன்றிரவைக் கழிப்போம்” என்றான்.
He said to his servant, "Come and let us try to reach one of those places and we will spend the night in Gibeah or Ramah."
14 எனவே அவர்கள் போனார்கள். அவர்கள் செல்கையில் பென்யமீனிலுள்ள கிபியாவை நெருங்கியதும் சூரியன் மறைந்துவிட்டது.
So they passed on and went their way; and the sun set on them near Gibeah, which belongs to Benjamin.
15 எனவே அவர்கள் இரவைக் கழிப்பதற்காக, அப்பட்டணச் சதுக்கத்திற்குப் போயிருந்தார்கள். ஆனால் யாருமே அவர்களைத் தங்கள் வீட்டிற்கு இரவு தங்கும்படி அழைக்கவில்லை.
They turned that way to go in to spend the night in Gibeah. And he went in and they sat down in the street of the city; for there was no one who would take them into their house to spend the night.
16 அன்று மாலை நேரத்தில் எப்பிராயீம் மலைநாட்டைச் சேர்ந்த, கிபியாவில் வாழும் ஒரு வயது முதிர்ந்தவன் தன் வயல் வேலையை முடித்துவிட்டு வந்தான். அவ்விடத்திலுள்ள மனிதர்கள் பென்யமீனியர்.
Look, there came an old man from his work out in the field at evening. Now the man was of the hill country of Ephraim, and he was residing in Gibeah; but the men of the place were Benjamites.
17 பட்டணத்து சதுக்கத்தில் வழிப்போக்கர் இருப்பதைக் கண்ட அந்த முதியவன் அவர்களிடம், “நீங்கள் எங்கே போகிறீர்கள்? எங்கேயிருந்து வருகிறீர்கள்?” என்று கேட்டான்.
He lifted up his eyes, and saw the traveler in the street of the city. And the old man said, "Where are you going, and where did you come from?"
18 அதற்கு அவன், “நாங்கள் யூதாவிலுள்ள பெத்லெகேமிலிருந்து வெகு தொலைவிலிருக்கும் எப்பிராயீம் மலைநாட்டிலுள்ள எங்கள் இருப்பிடத்திற்குப் போக வந்தோம். நான் யூதாவிலுள்ள பெத்லெகேமுக்குப் போனேன். இப்பொழுது யெகோவாவின் ஆலயத்திற்குப் போகிறேன். என்னைத் தங்கள் வீட்டுக்கு அழைத்துப் போவார் எவருமில்லை.
He said to him, "We are passing from Bethlehem in Judah to the farther side of the hill country of Ephraim. I am from there, and I went to Bethlehem in Judah. And I am going to my home, and there is no one who will take me into his home.
19 எங்கள் கழுதைகளுக்கு வைக்கோலும், தீனியும் எங்களிடம் உண்டு. உமது அடியவர்களான எனக்கும், அடியாளுக்கும், எங்களோடிருக்கும் வாலிபனுக்கும் தேவையான உணவும், திராட்சை இரசமும் இருக்கிறது. எங்களுக்கு ஒரு குறைவும் இல்லை” எனப் பதிலளித்தான்.
Yet there is both straw and feed for our donkeys, and there is bread and wine also for me, and for your female servant, and for the young man who is with your servants. There is no lack of anything."
20 அதற்கு அந்த முதியவன், “உங்களை என் வீட்டிற்கு வரவேற்கிறேன். உங்களுக்குத் தேவையானவற்றை நான் தருகிறேன். ஆனால் இந்தப் பொது சதுக்கத்தில் மட்டும் இரவிலே தங்கவேண்டாம்” எனச் சொன்னான்.
And the old man said, "Peace be to you. I will take care of all your needs; however, do not spend the night in the square."
21 அவ்வாறே அவன் அவர்களைத் தன் வீட்டிற்கு அழைத்துச்சென்று, அவனுடைய கழுதைகளுக்குத் தீனி போட்டான். அவர்கள் தங்கள் கால்களைக் கழுவியபின் அவர்களுக்குச் சாப்பிட உணவும் குடிக்க பானமும் கொடுத்தான்.
So he brought him into his house, and fed the donkeys. And they washed their feet, and ate and drank.
22 இவ்வாறு அவர்கள் மகிழ்ந்திருக்கையில், பட்டணத்திலுள்ள கொடுமையான மனிதர்கள் சிலர் முதியவனின் வீட்டைச் சுற்றிவளைத்தனர். அவர்கள் கதவைப் பலமாக அடித்து, வீட்டின் சொந்தக்காரனான முதியவனிடம் சத்தமாக, “உன்னிடம் வந்த அந்த மனிதனை வெளியே கொண்டுவா; நாங்கள் அவனுடன் பாலுறவு கொள்ளவேண்டும்” எனக் கூப்பிட்டுச் சொன்னார்கள்.
As they were enjoying themselves, look, the men of the city, some wicked men of the city surrounded the house, beating at the door. And they spoke to the master of the house, the old man, saying, "Bring out the man who came into your house, that we may have sex with him."
23 வீட்டின் சொந்தக்காரன் வெளியே போய் அவர்களிடம், “இல்லை! என் நண்பர்களே இழிவான இச்செயலை செய்யவேண்டாம். இவன் எனது விருந்தினன். ஆகையால் வெட்கக்கேடான இதைச் செய்யாதீர்கள்.
The man, the master of the house, went out to them, and said to them, "No, my brothers, please do not act so wickedly; since this man has come into my house. Do not do this disgraceful thing.
24 இங்கே கன்னிகையான எனது மகளும், அந்த மனிதனின் வைப்பாட்டியும் இருக்கிறார்கள். இப்பொழுது நான் அவர்களை வெளியே உங்களிடம் அழைத்து வருகிறேன். நீங்கள் அவர்களை உங்களுக்கு விருப்பமானபடி செய்யுங்கள். ஆனால் இந்த மனிதனுக்கு இந்த வெட்கக்கேடானதைச் செய்யவேண்டாம்” என்று சொன்னான்.
Look, here is my virgin daughter and his secondary wife. I will bring them out now. Ravish them and do with them what seems good to you; but do not do any such a disgraceful thing to this man."
25 அவன் சொன்னவற்றை அந்த மனிதர்கள் கேட்கவில்லை. எனவே அந்த லேவியன் தனது வைப்பாட்டியைப் பிடித்து வெளியே நின்ற அவர்களிடத்திற்கு அனுப்பினான். அவர்கள் இரவு முழுவதும் அவளைக் கற்பழித்து கடுமையாக இம்சைப்படுத்தியபின், அதிகாலையில் அவளைப் போகவிட்டனர்.
But the men wouldn't listen to him: so the man laid hold of his secondary wife, and brought her out to them. And they raped her and abused her all night until the morning, and when the day began to dawn they let her go.
26 பொழுது விடியும் நேரத்தில் அப்பெண் லேவியன் இருந்த வீட்டிற்குப்போய் விடியும்வரை அங்கே வாயிற்படியில் விழுந்துகிடந்தாள்.
Then at daybreak the woman arrived and fell down at the door of the man's house where her lord was, until daylight.
27 அந்த லேவியன் காலையில் எழுந்து தன் வழியே போவதற்காக வீட்டின் கதவைத் திறந்தான். அப்போது அவனுடைய வைப்பாட்டி வழியின் படியில் தன் இரண்டு கைகளையும் வைத்தவளாக விழுந்து கிடந்ததைக் கண்டான்.
Her lord rose up in the morning, and opened the doors of the house, and went out to go his way; and look, the woman his secondary wife was fallen down at the door of the house, with her hands on the threshold.
28 அவன் அவளிடம், “எழுந்திரு போவோம்” என்றான். ஆனால் அவளிடமிருந்து ஒரு பதிலும் வரவில்லை. எனவே இறந்துபோன அவளது உடலைத் தூக்கித் தன் கழுதையின்மேல் போட்டுக்கொண்டு வீட்டுக்குப் போனான்.
And he said to her, "Get up, and let us go." But there was no answer, for she was dead. So he placed her on the donkey, and the man rose up and went to his home.
29 அவன் வீட்டிற்குப் போனவுடனே கத்தியை எடுத்துத் தன் வைப்பாட்டியின் உடலைப் பன்னிரண்டு துண்டுகளாக வெட்டி, இஸ்ரயேலின் எல்லா பகுதிகளுக்கும் ஒவ்வொரு துண்டுவீதம் அனுப்பினான்.
When he had come into his house, he took a knife, and took hold of his secondary wife and divided her, limb by limb, into twelve pieces, and sent her throughout all the territory of Israel.
30 அதைக்கண்ட எல்லோரும், “இஸ்ரயேல் மக்கள் எகிப்திலிருந்து வந்த காலந்தொடங்கி இப்படியான செயலைக் கண்டதோ கேட்டதோ கிடையாது. எனவே இதைப்பற்றிச் சிந்தித்துப் பாருங்கள்; யோசித்து என்ன செய்யவேண்டுமென்று எங்களுக்குச் சொல்லுங்கள்” எனக் கேட்டனர்.
And it was so, that all who saw it said, "Nothing like this has been done or seen since the day that the children of Israel came up out of the land of Egypt until this day." And he commanded the men whom he sent, saying, "This is what you will say to all the men of Israel, 'Has anything like this happened since the day that the children of Israel came up out of the land of Egypt until this day? Consider it, take counsel, and speak.'"
