நியாயாதிபதிகள் 15
1 சில நாட்களுக்குப்பின் கோதுமை அறுவடை செய்யும் நாட்களில் சிம்சோன் ஒரு வெள்ளாட்டுக்குட்டியை எடுத்துக்கொண்டு தன் மனைவியைப் பார்க்கப்போனான். அவன், “நான் என் மனைவியின் அறைக்குள் போகவேண்டும்” எனச் சொன்னான். ஆனால் அவளுடைய தகப்பன் அவனை அறைக்குள் போகவிடவில்லை.
During the time that they harvested wheat, Samson took a young goat to Timnah as a present for his wife. He planned to sleep with [EUP] his wife, but her father would not let him go into [her room].
2 அவள் தகப்பன் அவனிடம், “நீ அவளை முற்றுமாய் வெறுக்கிறாய் என்று எண்ணி, நான் அவளை உனது சிநேகிதனுக்குக் கொடுத்துவிட்டேன். ஆனால் எனது இளைய மகளான அவளது சகோதரி அவளிலும் அழகானவள் அல்லவா? எனவே நீ இவளுக்கப் பதிலாக அவளை எடுத்துக்கொள்” என்றான்.
He said to Samson, “I really thought that you hated her. So I gave her to the man who had been your best man at the wedding, and she married him. But look, her younger sister is [RHQ] more beautiful than she is. You can marry her!”
3 அதற்கு சிம்சோன் அவர்களிடம், “இந்நேரம் நான் பெலிஸ்தியரை பழிவாங்கினாலும் என்மேல் குறை கூறமுடியாது. உண்மையாக அவர்களுக்குத் தீங்கு செய்வேன்” என்றான்.
Samson replied, “No! And this time I have a right to get revenge on you Philistines!”
4 எனவே அவன் புறப்பட்டுப்போய் முந்நூறு நரிகளைப் பிடித்தான். அவற்றைச் ஜோடியாக வாலுடன் வால் சேர்த்து பிணைத்தான். ஒவ்வொரு ஜோடி வால்களுக்கிடையிலும் ஒரு பந்தத்தைக் கட்டிவிட்டான்.
Then he went out [into the fields] and caught 300 foxes. He tied their tails together, two-by-two. He fastened torches to each pair of tails.
5 பின் பந்தங்களில் நெருப்பைக் கொளுத்தி நரிகளை பெலிஸ்தியரின் விளைந்திருந்த வயல்களுக்கிடையில் ஓடவிட்டான். அவ்வாறு அவன் கதிர்க்கட்டுகளையும், நின்ற தானியக் கதிர்களையும், திராட்சைத் தோட்டங்களையும், ஒலிவத்தோப்புகளையும் சுட்டெரித்தான்.
Then he lit the torches and let the foxes run through the fields of the Philistines. The fire [from the torches] burned all the grain to the ground, including the grain that had been cut and piled in bundles. The fire also burned down their grapevines and their olive trees.
6 அப்பொழுது பெலிஸ்தியர், “யார் இதைச் செய்தார்கள்?” என்று கேட்டபோது, “இதைத் திம்னாத்தினுடைய மருமகனாகிய சிம்சோன் செய்திருக்கிறான். ஏனெனில் அவனுடைய மனைவி அவனுடைய சிநேகிதனுக்குக் கொடுக்கப்பட்டிருந்தாள்” என்றார்கள். எனவே பெலிஸ்தியர் சென்று அவளையும் அவள் குடும்பத்தையும் எரித்துக்கொன்றார்கள்.
The Philistines asked, “Who did this?” Someone told them, “Samson did it. He married a woman from Timnah, but then his father-in-law gave her to the man who was Samson’s best man at the wedding, and she married him.” So the Philistines went [to Timnah] and got the woman and her father, and burned them to death.
7 சிம்சோன் அவர்களிடம், “நீங்கள் இவ்வாறு நடந்துகொண்டபடியால், நான் உங்கள்மேல் பழிவாங்கி முடியும்வரை இதை நிறுத்தமாட்டேன்” என்று சொன்னான்.
Samson [found out about that, and he] said to them, “Because you have done this, I will not stop until I get revenge on you!”
8 அவ்வாறு அவன் அவர்களை மூர்க்கத்துடன் தாக்கி, அவர்களில் அநேகரைக் கொன்றான். பின் அவன் ஏத்தாம் கற்பாறைக்குச் சென்று அங்கே ஒரு கற்குகையிலே தங்கினான்.
So he attacked the Philistines furiously, and killed many of them. Then he went [to hide] in a cave in the large rock at a place called Etam.
9 பெலிஸ்தியர் யூதாவிலே முகாமிட்டு லேகிக்கு அருகில் பரவியிருந்தார்கள்.
The Philistines [did not know where he was, so they] went up to where the descendants of Judah lived, set up their tents near Lehi [town and then raided the town].
10 அப்பொழுது யூதாவின் மனிதர், “ஏன் எங்களுடன் சண்டையிட வந்திருக்கிறீர்கள்?” என்று கேட்டார்கள். அதற்கு அவர்கள், “சிம்சோன் எங்களுக்குச் செய்ததுபோல அவனுக்கும் நாங்கள் செய்வதற்காக, சிம்சோனைக் கைதுசெய்து கொண்டுபோக வந்தோம்” என்றார்கள்.
The men there asked the Philistines, “Why have you attacked us?” The Philistines replied, “We have come to capture Samson. We have come to get revenge on him for what he did to us.”
11 அப்பொழுது யூதாவின் மனிதர்களில் மூவாயிரம்பேர் சிம்சோன் இருந்த ஏத்தாமின் பாதையிலிருந்த குகைக்குச் சென்று அவனிடம், “பெலிஸ்தியரே எங்கள்மேல் ஆளுநர்களாக இருக்கிறார்கள் என்பதை நீ உணரவில்லையா? நீ எங்களுக்குச் செய்தது என்ன?” என்றார்கள். அதற்கு அவன், “அவர்கள் எனக்குச் செய்ததையே நான் அவர்களுக்குச் செய்தேன்” என்றான்.
[Someone there knew where Samson was hiding]. So 3,000 men from Judah went down to get Samson at the cave in the rock where he was hiding. They said to Samson, “Do you not realize that the people of Philistia are ruling over us? Do you not realize what they will do to us?” Samson replied, “The only thing I did was that I got revenge on them for what they did to me.”
12 அதற்கு அவர்கள், “நாங்கள் இப்பொழுது உன்னைக் கட்டி பெலிஸ்தியரிடம் ஒப்படைக்கவே வந்திருக்கிறோம்” என்றார்கள். சிம்சோன் அவர்களிடம், “நீங்கள் என்னைக் கொலைசெய்யப் போவதில்லை என்று எனக்கு ஆணையிட்டுக் கொடுங்கள்” என்றான்.
But the men from Judah said to him, “We have come to tie you up and put you in the hands of the Philistines.” Samson said, “All right, but promise me that you yourselves will not kill me!”
13 அதற்கு அவர்கள், “சரி; உன்னைக் கொலைசெய்யமாட்டோம். ஆனால் கட்டி அவர்களிடம் ஒப்படைப்போம்” எனப் பதிலளித்தனர். பின் அவர்கள் அவனை சுற்றிவளைத்து இரண்டு புதிய கயிறுகளால் கட்டி கற்பாறையிலிருந்து வெளியே கொண்டுசென்றனர்.
They replied, “We will just tie you up and take you to the Philistines. We will not kill you.” So they tied him with two new ropes, and led him away from the cave.
14 அவன் லேகிக்கு சமீபமாய் வருகையில் பெலிஸ்தியர் அவனை நெருங்கி வந்தார்கள். அந்த நேரத்தில் யெகோவாவின் ஆவியானவர் அவன்மேல் வல்லமையுடன் இறங்கினார். அதனால் அவனைக் கட்டியிருந்த கயிறுகள் திடீரென நெருப்பில் எரிந்த சணல்நூல் போலாகி கட்டுகள் அவன் கையிலிருந்து அறுந்து விழுந்தன.
When they arrived at Lehi, the Philistines came toward him, shouting [triumphantly]. But Yahweh’s Spirit came upon Samson powerfully. He snapped the ropes on his arms as easily as if they were stalks of burned flax, and the ropes fell off his wrists.
15 அப்பொழுது அவன் கழுதையின் பழுதடையாத தாடை எலும்பைக் கண்டெடுத்து, அதைக்கொண்டு ஆயிரம்பேரைக் குத்திக் கொன்றான்.
Then he saw a donkey’s jawbone lying on the ground. It was fresh, [so it was hard]. He picked it up and killed about 1,000 Philistine men with it.
16 அப்பொழுது சிம்சோன் சொன்னான்: “கழுதையின் தாடை எலும்பினால் ஒரு பிணக்குவியலை ஏற்படுத்தினேன். கழுதையின் ஒரு தாடை எலும்பினாலேயே, நான் ஆயிரம்பேரைக் கொலைசெய்தேன்.”
Then Samson wrote this poem: “With the jawbone of a donkey I have made them like a heap of [dead] donkeys. With the jawbone of a donkey I killed 1,000 men.”
17 அவன் இவ்வாறு சொல்லி முடிந்தவுடன் தாடை எலும்பை எறிந்துவிட்டான். அந்த இடம் ராமாத் லேகி என அழைக்கப்பட்டது.
When he finished killing those men, he threw the jawbone away, and later that place was called Jawbone Hill.
18 அவன் மிகவும் தாகமாக இருந்ததினால் யெகோவாவை நோக்கி, “உமது அடியானாகிய எனக்கு இந்தப் பெரிய வெற்றியைத் தந்திருக்கிறீர்; இப்பொழுது நான் தாகத்தினால் இந்த விருத்தசேதனம் இல்லாதவர்கள் கையிலே அகப்பட்டு சாகவேண்டுமா?” என அழுதான்.
Then Samson was very thirsty, so he called out to Yahweh, “You have given me strength to win a great victory. So now must I die because of being thirsty, with the result that those heathen Philistines will take away my body [and mutilate it]?”
19 அப்பொழுது இறைவன் லேகியின் பள்ளத்தைப் பிளந்தார். அதிலிருந்து தண்ணீர் வந்தது. அதைச் சிம்சோன் குடித்தவுடன் பெலனடைந்து, புத்துயிர் பெற்றான். அந்த நீரூற்று என்ஹக்கோரே என அழைக்கப்பட்டது. அந்நீரூற்று இந்நாள்வரை லேகியில் இருக்கிறது.
So God caused water to gush out of a depression in the ground at Lehi. Samson drank from it and soon felt strong again. He named that place ‘The spring of the one who called out’. That spring is still there at Lehi.
20 பெலிஸ்தியரின் காலத்தில் சிம்சோன் இஸ்ரயேலில் இருபது வருடங்கள் நீதிபதியாய் இருந்தான்.
Samson was the leader of the Israeli people for 20 years, but during that time the Philistines [were the ones who really ruled over the land].
