யோசுவா 2

1 அப்பொழுது நூனின் மகனாகிய யோசுவா சித்தீமிலிருந்து இரண்டு ஒற்றர்களை இரகசியமாக அனுப்பினான். அவன் அவர்களிடம், “நீங்கள் நாட்டைச் சுற்றிப்பார்க்கப் போங்கள். முக்கியமாக எரிகோ நகரைப் பாருங்கள்” என்று கூறினான். எனவே அவர்கள் எரிகோ நகருக்குச் சென்று ராகாப் என்னும் வேசியின் வீட்டில் தங்கினார்கள்.

And Joshua, the son of Nun, had sent out from Shittim two men as spies, secretly, saying, Go ye, view the land and especially Jericho; and they went, and came unto the house of a woman, a harlot, whose name was Rachab, and they lodged there.

2 அவ்வேளையில், “நாட்டை உளவுபார்க்க இஸ்ரயேலரில் சிலர் இன்றிரவு இங்கே வந்தார்கள்” என்ற செய்தி எரிகோ அரசனுக்கு அறிவிக்கப்பட்டது.

And it was told unto the king of Jericho, saying, Behold, men came in hither this night, of the children of Israel, to search out the country.

3 எனவே எரிகோ அரசன் ராகாப்புக்கு, “உன்னிடம் வந்து, உன் வீட்டில் தங்கியிருக்கிற மனிதர்களை வெளியே கொண்டுவா; அவர்கள் இந்த நாடு முழுவதையும் உளவுபார்க்க வந்துள்ளார்கள்” என்று செய்தி அனுப்பினான்.

And the king of Jericho sent to Rachab, saying, Bring forth the men who are come to thee, who came to thy house; for, to search out all the country are they come.

4 ஆனால் அந்தப் பெண்ணோ அந்த இரு மனிதரையும் கூட்டிக்கொண்டுபோய் மறைத்துவைத்தாள். அவள், “ஆம், அந்த ஆட்கள் என்னிடம் வந்தார்கள்; ஆனால் அவர்கள் எங்கிருந்து வந்தவர்களென்று எனக்குத் தெரியாது.

But the woman had taken the two men, and hidden them; and she said, It is true, the men came unto me, but I knew not whence they were.

5 நகர வாசல்கதவை அடைக்கும் நேரத்தில் இருட்டாகும் வேளையில் அவர்கள் இங்கிருந்து புறப்பட்டார்கள். எந்த வழியாகப் போனார்களோ எனக்குத் தெரியாது. இப்பொழுதே விரைவாய்ப் பின்தொடர்ந்து போனால், ஒருவேளை நீங்கள் அவர்களைப் பிடிக்கக்கூடும்” என்று கூறினாள்.

And it came to pass, about the time of shutting the gate, when it was dark, that the men went out; I know not whither the men are gone: pursue quickly after them, for ye can overtake them.

6 ஆனால் அவள் அவ்விரு ஒற்றர்களையும் வீட்டின் கூரையில் ஏற்றி, அங்கே போட்டிருந்த சணல் தட்டைகளுக்குள் அவர்களை மறைத்து வைத்திருந்தாள்.

But she had brought them up to the roof, and had hidden them among the stalks of flax, which she had laid in order upon the roof.

7 உடனே அந்த மனிதர் யோர்தான் நதியின் துறைகளுக்குச் செல்லும் வீதி வழியே ஒற்றர்களைத் தேடிக்கொண்டு சென்றார்கள். தேடிச்சென்றவர்கள் வெளியே சென்றதும் நகரின் வாசல்கதவு மூடப்பட்டது.

And the men pursued after them, by the way to the Jordan unto the fords; and the gate was closed, as soon as those who pursued after them were gone out.

8 ஒற்றர்கள் இரவில் படுக்கைக்குப் போகுமுன், ராகாப் தன் வீட்டின் கூரைமேல் போய்,

But they had not yet laid themselves down, when she came up unto them upon the roof.

9 அவர்களிடம் சொன்னதாவது: “இந்த நாட்டை யெகோவா உங்களுக்குக் கொடுத்துவிட்டார் என்று எனக்குத் தெரியும்; நாங்கள் அனைவரும் உங்களுக்கு பயப்படுகிறோம், எனவே இங்குள்ள அனைவரும் உங்கள்முன் நடுங்குகிறார்கள்.

And she said unto them, I know that the Lord hath given you the land, and that the terror of you hath fallen upon us, and that all the inhabitants of the land are become faint-hearted, because of you.

10 நீங்கள் எகிப்திலிருந்து வெளியேறியபோது, யெகோவா உங்களுக்காக எவ்வாறு செங்கடலை வற்றச்செய்தார் என்பதைக் கேள்விப்பட்டோம்; அத்துடன் யோர்தான் நதியின் கிழக்கே வாழ்ந்த எமோரியர்களை நீங்கள் முழுவதும் அழித்தபோது அவர்களின் இரு அரசர்களான, சீகோனுக்கும், ஓகுக்கும் நீங்கள் செய்தவற்றையும் நாங்கள் கேள்விப்பட்டோம்.

For we have heard, how that the Lord dried up the waters of the Red Sea before you, when ye went forth out of Egypt; and what ye have done unto the two kings of the Emorites, who were on the other side of the Jordan, unto Sichon and 'Og, whom ye have utterly destroyed.

11 இவற்றையெல்லாம் கேள்விப்பட்டதும் உங்கள் நிமித்தம் நாங்கள் அனைவரும் தைரியத்தை இழந்து, உள்ளம் சோர்ந்துபோனோம்; ஏனெனில் இறைவனாகிய உங்கள் யெகோவாவே மேலே வானத்திற்கும் கீழே பூமிக்கும் இறைவனாயிருக்கிறார்.

And when we heard this, our heart melted, and there remained not any more courage in any man, because of you; for the Lord your God is alone God in the heavens above, and upon the earth beneath.

12 “எனவே இப்பொழுது நான் உங்களுக்கு இரக்கம் காட்டியதற்காக நீங்களும் என் குடும்பத்திற்கு இரக்கம் காட்டுவீர்களென யெகோவாவின்மேல் ஆணையிட்டு, எனக்கு நிச்சயமான அடையாளத்தைக் கொடுங்கள்.

And now swear, I pray you, unto me by the Lord, because I have shown you kindness, that ye will also, for your part, show kindness, unto my father's house; and give me a sure token,

13 என் தாய் தகப்பனையும், சகோதர சகோதரிகளையும், அவர்களைச் சேர்ந்தவர்களையும் நீங்கள் மரணத்தினின்று காப்பாற்றுவீர்கள் என்று எனக்கு வாக்குறுதி கொடுங்கள்” என்றாள்.

That ye will preserve the life of my father, and my mother, and my brothers, and my sisters, and all that they have, and deliver our lives from death.

14 அதற்கு அந்த ஒற்றர்கள், “எங்கள் உயிர்களை உங்கள் உயிர்களுக்குப் பணையமாக வைக்கிறோம்! நாங்கள் செய்வதை நீ சொல்லாதிருந்தால், யெகோவா இந்த நாட்டை எங்களுக்குக் கொடுக்கும்போது, உன்னை தயவுடன் நடத்தி உண்மையாய் இருப்போம்” என அவளுக்கு உறுதியளித்தார்கள்.

And the men said unto her, Our life shall be [doomed] to death instead of yours, if ye tell not this our business; and it shall be, when the Lord giveth us the land, that we will show thee kindness and truth.

15 ராகாப் வாழ்ந்த வீடு நகர மதிலின் ஒரு பகுதியிலிருந்தது, எனவே அவள் அவர்களை ஒரு கயிற்றினால் தன் வீட்டு ஜன்னல் வழியாக நகரத்திற்கு வெளியே இறக்கிவிட்டாள்.

Then she let them down by a cord through the window; for her house was within the town wall, and within the wall she dwelt.

16 கீழே இறக்கிவிடுமுன் அவள் அவர்களிடம், “உங்களைத் தேடுபவர்கள் உங்களைக் கண்டுபிடிக்காதபடி மலைகளுக்குப் போங்கள். அவர்கள் திரும்பி வரும்வரை மூன்று நாட்களுக்கு நீங்கள் மறைந்திருங்கள்; பின்பு உங்கள் வழியே போங்கள்” என்று கூறியிருந்தாள்.

And she said unto them, Get you to the mountain, lest the pursuers meet with you; and hide yourselves there three days, until the pursuers be returned; and afterward ye may go your way.

17 அந்த மனிதர் அவளிடம், “எங்களை நீ ஆணையிடப்பண்ணிய இந்த வாக்குறுதிக்கு நாங்கள் கட்டுப்படுவதாயின்,

And the men said unto her, We will be blameless of this thy oath which thou hast caused us to swear.

18 நாங்கள் இந்த நாட்டிற்குள் வரும்போது, நீ எங்களைக் கீழே இறக்கிய ஜன்னலில் இந்த சிவப்புக்கயிறு கட்டப்பட்டிருக்க வேண்டும். அத்துடன் உன் தாய் தகப்பனையும், சகோதரர்களையும் அவர்களோடு உன் குடும்பத்தாரையும் கூட்டிவந்து, உன் வீட்டினுள் வைத்திருக்கவேண்டும்.

Behold, when we come into the land, this line of scarlet thread shalt thou bind in the window by which thou hast let us down; and thy father, and thy mother, and thy brothers, and all thy father's household, thou must bring together unto thee into the house.

19 எவராவது உன் வீட்டைவிட்டு வெளியேறி, வீதிக்கு வந்தால் அவனுடைய இரத்தப்பழி அவன் தலைமேல் இருக்கும். நாங்கள் அதற்குப் பொறுப்பாளிகள் அல்ல. ஆனால் உன்னுடன் வீட்டில் இருக்கும் எவராயினும் தாக்கப்பட்டால் அவர்களுடைய இரத்தப்பழி எங்கள்மேல் இருக்கும்.

And it shall be, that whosoever will go out of the doors of thy house into the street, his blood shall be upon his head, and we will be guiltless; and whosoever will remain with thee in the house, his blood shall be on our head, if a hand be laid upon him.

20 ஆயினும் நாங்கள் செய்வதை நீ எவரிடமாவது சொன்னால், நீ எங்களிடம் பெற்றுக்கொண்ட வாக்குறுதிக்கு நாங்கள் கட்டுப்பட்டிருக்கமாட்டோம்” எனக் கூறினார்கள்.

And if thou tell this our business, then will we be free of thy oath which thou hast caused us to swear.

21 அதற்கு அவள், “நான் ஒத்துக்கொள்கிறேன். நீங்கள் சொன்னபடியே ஆகட்டும்” எனப் பதிலளித்தாள். அப்படியே அவள் அவர்களை அனுப்பிவைக்க, அவர்கள் புறப்பட்டுச் சென்றனர். அவளும் சிவப்புக்கயிற்றை ஜன்னலில் கட்டி வைத்தாள்.

And she said, According unto your words, so be it; and she dismissed them, and they departed; and she bound the scarlet line in the window.

22 அவர்கள் அங்கிருந்து புறப்பட்டு மலைகளுக்குப் போய் மூன்று நாட்கள் அங்கே தங்கினார்கள். அவர்களைத் தேடுகிறவர்கள் பாதைகளிலெல்லாம் தேடி அவர்களைக் காணாமல் திரும்பிப் போகும்வரை அங்கே இருந்தார்கள்.

And they went, and came unto the mountain, and they remained there three days, until the pursuers were returned; and the pursuers sought throughout all the way, but found nothing.

23 அதன்பின்பு அவ்விரு மனிதர்களும் திரும்பினார்கள். அவர்கள் குன்றிலிருந்து இறங்கி யோர்தான் நதியைக் கடந்து நூனின் மகனாகிய யோசுவாவிடம் வந்து, தங்களுக்கு நடந்ததையெல்லாம் அவனுக்குச் சொன்னார்கள்.

And the two men returned, and descended from the mountain, and passed over, and came to Joshua the son of Nun, and related to him all the things that had befallen them.

24 அவர்கள் யோசுவாவிடம், “யெகோவா நிச்சயமாக இந்த நாடு முழுவதையும் நமக்குக் கொடுத்திருக்கிறார்; அந்த மக்கள் எல்லோரும் பயத்தினால் சோர்ந்து போயிருக்கிறார்கள்” என்றார்கள்.

And they said unto Joshua, Truly the Lord hath given up into our hand all the country; for all the inhabitants of the country are already become faint-hearted because of us.
