யோவான் 18
1 இயேசு மன்றாடி முடித்தபின்பு, அவர் அங்கிருந்து தமது சீடர்களுடன் கெதரோன் பள்ளத்தாக்கைக் கடந்து சென்றார். அதன் மறுபக்கத்தில் ஒரு தோட்டம் இருந்தது. இயேசுவும், அவருடைய சீடர்களும் அங்கே சென்றார்கள்.
When Jesus had spoken these words, he went forth with his disciples over the brook Kidron, where was a garden, into the which he entered, himself and his disciples.
2 அவரைக் காட்டிக்கொடுத்த யூதாஸ் அந்த இடத்தை அறிந்திருந்தான். ஏனெனில் இயேசுவும் அவருடைய சீடர்களும் அடிக்கடி அங்கே கூடிவருவார்கள்.
Now Judas also, which betrayed him, knew the place: for Jesus oft-times resorted thither with his disciples.
3 எனவே யூதாஸ் படைவீரரில் ஒரு பிரிவினரையும், தலைமை ஆசாரியர்கள் மற்றும் பரிசேயர் ஆகியோருடைய சேவகர்களில் சிலரையும் கூட்டிக்கொண்டு அந்த தோட்டத்திற்கு வந்தான். அவர்கள் தீப்பந்தங்களையும், விளக்குகளையும், ஆயுதங்களையும் கொண்டுவந்தார்கள்.
Judas then, having received the band [of soldiers], and officers from the chief priests and the Pharisees, cometh thither with lanterns and torches and weapons.
4 இயேசு தமக்கு நடக்கப்போவதையெல்லாம் அறிந்து, அவர்களுக்கு முன்பாக வந்து, “உங்களுக்கு யார் வேண்டும்?” என்று கேட்டார்.
Jesus therefore, knowing all the things that were coming upon him, went forth, and saith unto them, Whom seek ye?
5 அதற்கு அவர்கள், “நாசரேத்தைச் சேர்ந்த இயேசு” என்றார்கள். இயேசு அவர்களிடம், “நானே அவர்” என்றார். துரோகியான யூதாஸ் அவர்களுடன் நின்றுகொண்டிருந்தான்.
They answered him, Jesus of Nazareth. Jesus saith unto them, I am [he]. And Judas also, which betrayed him, was standing with them.
6 “நானே அவர்” என்று இயேசு சொன்னபோது, அவர்கள் பின்னடைந்து தரையிலே விழுந்தார்கள்.
When therefore he said unto them, I am [he], they went backward, and fell to the ground.
7 அவர் மறுபடியும் அவர்களிடம், “உங்களுக்கு யார் வேண்டும்?” என்று கேட்டார். அதற்கு அவர்கள் மறுபடியும்: “நாசரேத்தைச் சேர்ந்த இயேசு” என்றார்கள்.
Again therefore he asked them, Whom seek ye? And they said, Jesus of Nazareth.
8 அதற்கு இயேசு, “நானே அவர் என்று உங்களுக்குச் சொன்னேனே. நீங்கள் என்னைத்தான் தேடுகிறீர்கள் என்றால், இவர்களைப் போகவிடுங்கள்” என்றார்.
Jesus answered, I told you that I am [he]: if therefore ye seek me, let these go their way:
9 “நீர் எனக்குக் கொடுத்தவர்களில் நான் ஒருவரையும் இழந்துவிடவில்லை” என்று அவர் சொல்லியிருந்த வார்த்தைகள் நிறைவேறும்படி இது நடந்தது.
that the word might be fulfilled which he spake, Of those whom thou hast given me I lost not one.
10 அப்பொழுது வாள் வைத்துக்கொண்டிருந்த சீமோன் பேதுரு அதை உருவி எடுத்து, பிரதான ஆசாரியரின் வேலைக்காரனைத் தாக்கினான். அவனது வலது காது வெட்டுண்டது. அந்த வேலைக்காரனின் பெயர் மல்குஸ்.
Simon Peter therefore having a sword drew it, and struck the high priest’s servant, and cut off his right ear. Now the servant’s name was Malchus.
11 அப்பொழுது இயேசு பேதுருவிடம், “உனது வாளை உறையிலே போடு!” என்று கட்டளையிட்டு, “பிதா எனக்குக் கொடுத்த பாத்திரத்திலிந்து நான் குடியாதிருப்பேனோ” என்றார்.
Jesus therefore said unto Peter, Put up the sword into the sheath: the cup which the Father hath given me, shall I not drink it?
12 அப்பொழுது படைவீரரும், அவர்களுடைய படைத்தளபதியும், யூத அதிகாரிகளும் இயேசுவைக் கைது செய்தார்கள். அவர்கள் அவரைக் கட்டி,
So the band and the chief captain, and the officers of the Jews, seized Jesus and bound him,
13 முதலில் அவரை அன்னாவினிடம் கொண்டுசென்றார்கள். இந்த அன்னா அந்த வருடத்துக்குரிய பிரதான ஆசாரியன் காய்பாவின் மாமன்.
and led him to Annas first; for he was father in law to Caiaphas, which was high priest that year.
14 ஒரு மனிதன் எல்லா மக்களுக்காவும் மரிப்பது நல்லது என்று யூதருக்கு ஆலோசனை சொன்னவன் இந்தக் காய்பாவே.
Now Caiaphas was he which gave counsel to the Jews, that it was expedient that one man should die for the people.
15 சீமோன் பேதுருவும் இன்னொரு சீடனும் இயேசுவுக்குப் பின்னால் போய்க்கொண்டிருந்தார்கள். அந்தச் சீடன் பிரதான ஆசாரியனுக்கு அறிமுகமானபடியால், அவன் இயேசுவுடனே பிரதான ஆசாரியரின் மாளிகை முற்றத்திற்குள் போனான்.
And Simon Peter followed Jesus, and [so did] another disciple. Now that disciple was known unto the high priest, and entered in with Jesus into the court of the high priest;
16 ஆனால் பேதுருவோ வெளியே வாசல் அருகே நிற்க வேண்டியதாயிருந்தது. பிரதான ஆசாரியனுக்கு அறிமுகமான அந்த இன்னொரு சீடன் திரும்பிவந்து, வாசல் காக்கும் பெண்ணுடனே பேசி, பேதுருவை உள்ளே கூட்டிக்கொண்டு போனான்.
but Peter was standing at the door without. So the other disciple, which was known unto the high priest, went out and spake unto her that kept the door, and brought in Peter.
17 வாசலில் இருந்த அந்த பெண் பேதுருவிடம், “நீயும் அந்த மனிதனின் சீடர்களில் ஒருவன் அல்லவா?” என்றாள். அதற்கு அவன், “நான் அல்ல” என்றான்.
The maid therefore that kept the door saith unto Peter, Art thou also [one] of this man’s disciples? He saith, I am not.
18 அங்கே மிகவும் குளிராய் இருந்தது. அங்கேயிருந்த வேலைக்காரரும் சேவகர்களும் குளிர்காயும்படி, நெருப்புமூட்டி அதைச் சுற்றி நின்றார்கள். பேதுருவும் அங்கே அவர்களுடன் நின்று குளிர்காய்ந்து கொண்டிருந்தான்.
Now the servants and the officers were standing [there], having made a fire of coals; for it was cold; and they were warming themselves: and Peter also was with them, standing and warming himself.
19 அவ்வேளையில் பிரதான ஆசாரியன், இயேசுவின் சீடரைக் குறித்தும், அவருடைய போதனையைக் குறித்தும் விசாரித்தான்.
The high priest therefore asked Jesus of his disciples, and of his teaching.
20 இயேசு அவனுக்கு சொன்னதாவது: “நான் உலகத்துடன் பகிரங்கமாகப் பேசினேன். யூதரெல்லோரும் கூடிவருகின்ற ஜெப ஆலயங்களிலும், எருசலேம் ஆலயத்திலும் எப்பொழுதும் போதித்தேன். நான் இரகசியமாக எதுவுமே சொல்லவில்லை.
Jesus answered him, I have spoken openly to the world; I ever taught in synagogues, and in the temple, where all the Jews come together; and in secret spake I nothing.
21 நீங்கள் ஏன் என்னிடம் கேள்வி கேட்கிறீர்கள்? நான் சொன்னவற்றைக் கேட்டவர்களிடம் விசாரியுங்கள். நான் என்ன சொன்னேன் என்பது நிச்சயமாக அவர்களுக்குத் தெரியும்.”
Why askest thou me? ask them that have heard [me], what I spake unto them: behold, these know the things which I said.
22 இயேசு இப்படியாக சொன்னபோது, அருகே நின்ற காவலரில் ஒருவன் அவருடைய முகத்திலே அறைந்தான். அவன், “பிரதான ஆசாரியனுக்கு இவ்விதமாகவா பதில் சொல்வது?” என்றான்.
And when he had said this, one of the officers standing by struck Jesus with his hand, saying, Answerest thou the high priest so?
23 அதற்கு இயேசு, “நான் எதையாவது தவறாகச் சொல்லியிருந்தால், தவறு என்னவென்று சொல். நான் பேசியது உண்மையானால், நீ ஏன் என்னை அடித்தாய்?” என்றார்.
Jesus answered him, If I have spoken evil, bear witness of the evil: but if well, why smitest thou me?
24 அப்பொழுது அன்னா இயேசுவைக் கட்டப்பட்டவராகவே பிரதான ஆசாரியன் காய்பாவிடம் அனுப்பினான்.
Annas therefore sent him bound unto Caiaphas the high priest.
25 சீமோன் பேதுரு குளிர்காய்ந்து கொண்டிருக்கையில், ஒருவன் அவனிடம், “நீ அவனுடைய சீடர்களில் ஒருவன் அல்லவா?” என்று கேட்டான். “நான் அவருடைய சீடன் அல்ல” என்று பேதுரு மறுதலித்தான்.
Now Simon Peter was standing and warming himself. They said therefore unto him, Art thou also [one] of his disciples? He denied, and said, I am not.
26 பேதுருவினால் காது வெட்டப்பட்டவனின் உறவினராகிய ஒருவன், பிரதான ஆசாரியனின் வேலைக்காரனாயிருந்தான். அவன் பேதுருவிடம், “நீ இயேசுவுடனே அந்த ஒலிவ தோட்டத்தில் இருந்ததை நான் கண்டேனே” என்றான்.
One of the servants of the high priest, being a kinsman of him whose ear Peter cut off, saith, Did not I see thee in the garden with him?
27 அப்பொழுது பேதுரு மீண்டும் மறுதலித்தான். உடனே சேவல் கூவிற்று.
Peter therefore denied again: and straightway the cock crew.
28 பின்பு இயேசுவைக் காய்பாவிடம் இருந்து ரோம ஆளுநனரின் அரண்மனைக்குக் கொண்டுசென்றார்கள். இதற்குள்ளாகப் பொழுது விடிந்து விட்டது. பஸ்காவைச் சாப்பிடத்தக்க நிலையில் தங்களை வைத்துக்கொள்ள அவர்கள் விரும்பி, அசுத்தப்படாமல் காத்துக்கொள்ளும்படி யூதர்கள் அந்த அரண்மனைக்குள் போகவில்லை.
They lead Jesus therefore from Caiaphas into the palace: and it was early; and they themselves entered not into the palace, that they might not be defiled, but might eat the passover.
29 எனவே பிலாத்து வெளியே யூதத்தலைவர்களிடம் வந்து, “இந்த மனிதனுக்கு விரோதமாய் என்ன குற்றச்சாட்டுகளைக் கொண்டுவந்திருக்கிறீர்கள்?” என்று கேட்டான்.
Pilate therefore went out unto them, and saith, What accusation bring ye against this man?
30 அதற்கு அவர்கள், “இவன் குற்றவாளியாய் இல்லாதிருந்தால், நாங்கள் இவனை உம்மிடம் ஒப்படைத்திருக்க மாட்டோம்” என்றார்கள்.
They answered and said unto him, If this man were not an evil-doer, we should not have delivered him up unto thee.
31 அப்பொழுது பிலாத்து, “நீங்களே இவனைக் கொண்டுபோய் உங்கள் மோசேயின் சட்டத்தின்படி இவனுக்கு நியாயத்தீர்ப்பு வழங்குங்கள்” என்றான். அதற்கு அவர்கள், “யாருக்கும் மரண தண்டனை வழங்க எங்களுக்கு அதிகாரம் இல்லை” என்றார்கள்.
Pilate therefore said unto them, Take him yourselves, and judge him according to your law. The Jews said unto him, It is not lawful for us to put any man to death:
32 தமக்கு எவ்விதமான மரணம் ஏற்படப்போகிறது என்று இயேசு ஏற்கெனவே சொல்லியிருந்த வார்த்தை நிறைவேறும்படியே இவையெல்லாம் நடந்தது.
that the word of Jesus might be fulfilled, which he spake, signifying by what manner of death he should die.
33 பின்பு பிலாத்து அரண்மனைக்குள்ளே போய், இயேசுவைத் தன்னிடம் கொண்டுவரும்படிச்செய்து அவரிடம், “நீ யூதருடைய அரசனா?” என்று கேட்டான்.
Pilate therefore entered again into the palace, and called Jesus, and said unto him, Art thou the King of the Jews?
34 அதற்கு இயேசு, “இதை நீராகவே கேட்கிறீரா? அல்லது மற்றவர்கள் உம்மிடம் என்னைக்குறித்து இப்படிச் சொன்னார்களா?” என்று கேட்டார்.
Jesus answered, Sayest thou this of thyself, or did others tell it thee concerning me?
35 அப்பொழுது பிலாத்து, “நான் என்ன ஒரு யூதனா? உனது மக்களும் உனது தலைமை ஆசாரியர்களுமே உன்னை என்னிடம் ஒப்படைத்திருக்கிறார்கள். நீ செய்தது என்ன?” என்று கேட்டான்.
Pilate answered, Am I a Jew? Thine own nation and the chief priests delivered thee unto me: what hast thou done?
36 அதற்கு இயேசு, “நான் இந்த உலகத்துக்குரிய அரசன் அல்ல. அப்படியிருந்தால், யூதர்களிடம் நான் ஒப்புக்கொடுக்கப்படுவதைத் தடுக்கும்படி எனது ஊழியக்காரர்களே போராடியிருப்பார்கள். எனது அரசோ வேறு இடத்தைச் சேர்ந்தது” என்றார்.
Jesus answered, My kingdom is not of this world: if my kingdom were of this world, then would my servants fight, that I should not be delivered to the Jews: but now is my kingdom not from hence.
37 அதற்கு பிலாத்து, “அப்படியானால், நீ ஒரு அரசன்தானே!” என்று கேட்டான். அதற்கு இயேசு, “நான் ஒரு அரசன் என்று நீர் சொல்வது சரிதான். ஏனெனில் சத்தியத்திற்கு சாட்சி கொடுக்கும்படியே நான் பிறந்தேன். அதற்காகவே நான் இந்த உலகத்திற்கு வந்தேன். சத்தியத்திற்கு உரியவர்கள் ஒவ்வொருவரும் எனக்குச் செவிகொடுக்கிறார்கள்” என்றார்.
Pilate therefore said unto him, Art thou a king then? Jesus answered, Thou sayest that I am a king. To this end have I been born, and to this end am I come into the world, that I should bear witness unto the truth. Every one that is of the truth heareth my voice.
38 அதற்கு பிலாத்து, “சத்தியம் என்றால் என்ன?” என்று கேட்டான். அப்படிக் கேட்ட அவன் மீண்டும் வெளியே போய் யூதரிடம், “நான் இவனுக்கு எதிராய் குற்றம் சாட்டுவதற்கான எந்த ஆதாரத்தையும் காணவில்லை.
Pilate saith unto him, What is truth? And when he had said this, he went out again unto the Jews, and saith unto them, I find no crime in him.
39 ஆகவே பஸ்கா என்ற பண்டிகை காலத்தில் ஒரு கைதியை நான் உங்களுக்காக விடுதலை செய்வது வழக்கமல்லவா? எனவே ‘யூதரின் அரசனை’ நான் விடுதலைசெய்ய வேண்டுமென்று விரும்புகிறீர்களா?” என்று கேட்டான்.
But ye have a custom, that I should release unto you one at the passover: will ye therefore that I release unto you the King of the Jews?
40 அதற்கு அவர்களோ, “இல்லை, அவனை அல்ல! பரபாஸை எங்களுக்கு விடுதலையாக்கும்” என்று சத்தமிட்டார்கள். அந்த பரபாஸ் என்பவனோ ஒரு கலவரத்தில் ஈடுபட்டவனாய் இருந்தான்.
They cried out therefore again, saying, Not this man, but Barabbas. Now Barabbas was a robber.
