எரேமியா 41

1 ஏழாம் மாதத்தில் எலிசாமாவின் பேரனும் நெத்தனியாவின் மகனும், அரச குலத்தைச் சேர்ந்தவனும், அரசனின் அதிகாரிகளில் ஒருவனுமாயிருந்த இஸ்மயேல், பத்து மனிதரோடு மிஸ்பாவிலிருந்த அகீக்காமின் மகன் கெதலியாவிடம் வந்தான். அங்கே அவர்கள் எல்லோரும் ஒன்றாய் சாப்பிட்டுக் கொண்டிருந்தார்கள்.

Now it came to pass in the seventh month, that Ishmael the son of Nethanyah the son of Elishama', of the royal seed, and the chiefs of the king, even ten men with him, came unto Gedalyahu the son of Achikam to Mizpah; and they ate there bread together in Mizpah.

2 அப்பொழுது நெத்தனியாவின் மகன் இஸ்மயேலும், அவனோடிருந்த பத்து மனிதரும் எழும்பி, சாப்பானின் மகனான அகீக்காமின் மகன் கெதலியாவை வாளால் வெட்டிக்கொன்றார்கள். கொல்லப்பட்டவன் பாபிலோன் அரசனால் அந்த நாட்டின் தலைவனாக நியமிக்கப்பட்டவன்.

Then arose Ishmael the son of Nethanyah, and the ten men that were with him, and smote Gedalyahu the son of Achikam the son of Shaphan with the sword, and put to death him, whom the king of Babylon had appointed governor over the land.

3 இஸ்மயேல் மிஸ்பாவிலிருந்த கெதலியாவுடன், அங்கிருந்த யூதரையும் கொன்றான். அத்துடன் அங்கிருந்த பாபிலோனிய யுத்த வீரரையும் வெட்டிப்போட்டான்.

And all the Jews that were with him, even with Gedalyahu, at Mizpah, and the Chaldeans that were found there, even the men of war, did Ishmael slay.

4 கெதலியா கொலைசெய்யப்பட்ட அடுத்தநாள், இதைப்பற்றி ஒருவரும் அறியும் முன்னே,

And it came to pass on the second day after he had put Gedalyahu to death, while no man knew of it,

5 சீலோ, சீகேம், சமாரியா ஆகிய இடங்களிலிருந்து, எண்பது மனிதர் தங்களுடைய தாடிகளைச் சிரைத்து, கிழிந்த உடைகளை அணிந்து தங்கள் உடல்களைக் கீறிக்கொண்டு வந்தார்கள். அவர்கள் தங்கள் கைகளில் தானிய பலிகளையும், நறுமண தூபங்களையும் எடுத்துக்கொண்டு யெகோவாவின் ஆலயத்திற்குப் போவதற்காக வந்தார்கள்.

That there came certain men from Shechem, from Shiloh, and from Samaria, eighty men [in all], having their beards shaven, and their clothes rent, and having cut themselves, with meat-offerings and frankincense in their hand, to bring the same to the house of the Lord.

6 அப்பொழுது நெத்தனியாவின் மகன் இஸ்மயேல் அழுதபடி அவர்களைச் சந்திப்பதற்காக மிஸ்பாவிலிருந்து போனான். அவர்களைச் சந்தித்தபோது, அவர்களிடம், “நீங்கள் அகீக்காமின் மகன் கெதலியாவிடம் வாருங்கள்” என்றான்.

And Ishmael the son of Nethanyah went forth from Mizpah to meet them, going along and weeping: and it came to pass as he met them, that he said unto them, Come to Gedalyahu the son of Achikam.

7 அவர்கள் பட்டணத்துக்கு வந்ததும் நெத்தனியாவின் மகன் இஸ்மயேலும், அவனோடிருந்த மனிதரும் அவர்களை வெட்டி ஒரு குழிக்குள் போட்டார்கள்.

And it happened, as they entered into the midst of the city, that Ishmael the son of Nethanyah slaughtered them, [and cast them] into the midst of the cistern, he, and the men that were with him.

8 ஆனால் அவர்களில் பத்துபேர் இஸ்மயேலை நோக்கி, “நீர் எங்களைக் கொல்லவேண்டாம். நாங்கள் கோதுமையும், வாற்கோதுமையும், எண்ணெயும், தேனும் ஒரு வயலில் மறைத்து வைத்திருக்கிறோம்” என்றார்கள். எனவே அவன், இவர்களை மற்றவர்களுடன் சேர்த்து கொலைசெய்யாமல் விட்டுவிட்டான்.

But ten men were found among them that said unto Ishmael, Slay us not; for we have some things hidden in the field, [such as] wheat, and barley, and oil, and honey. So he forbore, and slew them not in the midst of their brethren.

9 இஸ்மயேல் தான் கொலைசெய்த மனிதருடைய சடலங்களையும் கெதலியாவையும் ஒரு குழிக்குள் எறிந்தான். அந்த குழியானது இஸ்ரயேல் அரசனான பாஷாவுக்கு விரோதமாக, ஆசா அரசனால் தனது பாதுகாப்புக்காக வெட்டப்பட்டவற்றில் ஒன்றாகும். அதை நெத்தனியாவின் மகன் இஸ்மயேல் சடலங்களினால் நிரப்பினான்.

And the cistern wherein Ishmael cast all the corpses of the men, whom he had slain in company with Gedalyahu, is the same which king Assa had made on account of Ba'sha the king of Israel: this did Ishmael the son of Nethanyah fill with slain persons.

10 மிஸ்பாவில் மீதியாயிருந்த எல்லா மக்களையும் இஸ்மயேல் சிறைப்பிடித்தான். அவர்கள் மெய்க்காவலர் தளபதியான நேபுசராதானால், அகீக்காமின் மகனான கெதலியாவின் பொறுப்பில் ஒப்படைக்கப்பட்ட அரசனின் மகள்களும், அங்கு விடப்பட்டிருந்த மற்றவர்களுமே. அவ்வாறு நெத்தனியாவின் மகன் இஸ்மயேல் அவர்களைச் சிறைப்பிடித்துக்கொண்டு, அம்மோனியருடன் சேர்ந்துகொள்வதற்காகப் போனான்.

Then did Ishmael carry away captive all the residue of the people that were in Mizpah, the king's daughters, and all the people that were remaining in Mizpah, whom Nebuzaradan the captain of the guard had entrusted to Gedalyahu the son of Achikam: and Ishmael the son of Nethanyah carried them away captive, and went off to pass over to the children of Ammon.

11 கரேயாவின் மகனான யோகனானும், அவனுடன் இருந்த எல்லா இராணுவத் தளபதிகளும், நெத்தனியாவின் மகன் இஸ்மயேல் செய்த எல்லாக் கொடுமைகளையும் குறித்துக் கேள்விப்பட்டார்கள்.

But when Jochanan the son of Kareach, and all the captains of the armies that were with him, heard of all the evil that Ishmael the son of Nethanyah had done:

12 அப்பொழுது அவர்கள் தங்கள் மனிதர் அனைவரையும் கூட்டிக்கொண்டு, நெத்தனியாவின் மகன் இஸ்மயேலுடன் சண்டையிடுவதற்காகச் சென்றார்கள். அவர்கள் கிபியோனிலிருந்த பெரிய குளத்தண்டையில் நின்ற அவனை நெருங்கினார்கள்.

Then did they take all the men, and went to fight with Ishmael the son of Nethanyah, and found him by the great water[-pool] that is near Gib'on.

13 இஸ்மயேலுடன் இருந்த மக்கள் எல்லோரும், கரேயாவின் மகன் யோகனானையும், இராணுவத் தளபதிகளையும் கண்டபோது, மிகவும் மகிழ்ச்சி அடைந்தார்கள்.

And it came to pass, when all the people who were with Ishmael saw Jochanan the son of Kareach, and all the captains of the armies that were with him, that they were rejoiced.

14 அப்பொழுது இஸ்மயேல் மிஸ்பாவிலிருந்து சிறைப்பிடித்துக் கொண்டுபோன எல்லா மக்களும், அவனைவிட்டுக் கரேயாவின் மகனான யோகனானுடன் சேர்ந்துகொண்டார்கள்.

And all the people that Ishmael had carried away captive from Mizpah turned about and returned, and went unto Jochanan the son of Kareach.

15 ஆனால் நெத்தனியாவின் மகனான இஸ்மயேலும், அவனுடன் இருந்த மனிதரில் எட்டுப்பேரும் யோகனானிடம் இருந்து தப்பி, அம்மோனியரிடம் ஓடிப்போனார்கள்.

But Ishmael the son of Nethanyah escaped with eight men from the presence of Jochanan, and he went to the children of 'Ammon.

16 அப்பொழுது மிஸ்பாவிலிருந்து இஸ்மயேல் கொண்டுபோயிருந்தவர்களை, கரேயாவின் மகன் யோகனானும், அவனோடிருந்த இராணுவ அதிகாரிகள் அனைவரும் அழைத்துக்கொண்டு போனார்கள். இவர்கள் யோகனானினால் கிபியோனிலிருந்து மீட்கப்பட்ட, படைவீரர், பெண்கள், பிள்ளைகள், அரச அதிகாரிகளுமாய் இருந்தார்கள். இது அகீக்காமின் மகன் கெதலியாவை, நெத்தனியாவின் மகன் இஸ்மயேல் கொலைசெய்தபின் நடந்தது.

Then took Jochanan the son of Kareach, and all the captains of the armies that were with him, all the remnant of the people whom he had recovered from Ishmael the son of Nethanyah, from Mizpah, after he had slain Gedalyah the son of Achikam, the adult males, the men of war, and the women, and the children, and the eunuchs, whom he had brought back from Gib'on;

17 இவர்கள் எகிப்திற்குப் போகும் வழியில் பெத்லெகேமுக்கு அருகே இருந்த கேரூத், கிம்காமில் தரித்து நின்றார்கள்.

And they went, and remained in Geruth-Kimham, which is by Beth-lechem, to go to enter into Egypt,

18 பாபிலோனியருக்கு தப்புவதற்காகவே இவர்கள் எகிப்திற்குப் போகப் புறப்பட்டார்கள். நெத்தனியாவின் மகன் இஸ்மயேல், பாபிலோன் அரசன் நாட்டுக்கு ஆளுநனாக நியமித்த அகீக்காமின் மகன் கெதலியாவைக் கொன்றதினால், அவர்கள் பாபிலோனியருக்குப் பயந்தார்கள்.

Because of the Chaldeans; for they were afraid of them; because Ishmael the son of Nethanyah had slain Gedalyahu the son of Achikam, whom the king of Babylon had appointed governor over the land.
