எரேமியா 10
1 இஸ்ரயேல் குடும்பத்தாரே, யெகோவா உங்களுக்குச் சொல்வதைக் கேளுங்கள்.
Hear ye the word which the LORD speaketh to you, O house of Israel:
2 யெகோவா சொல்வது இதுவே: பிறதேசத்தாரின் வழிகளைக் கற்றுக்கொள்ள வேண்டாம். ஆகாயத்தின் அடையாளங்களைக் கண்டு அவர்கள் பயப்படுகிறார்கள், நீங்களோ அவற்றிற்கு பயப்படாமல் இருங்கள்.
Thus saith the LORD, Learn not the way of the heathen, and be not dismayed at the signs of heaven; for the heathen are dismayed at them.
3 ஏனெனில் அந்த மக்கள் கூட்டங்களின் வழக்கங்கள் பயனற்றவை. அவர்கள் காட்டிலிருக்கிற ஒரு மரத்தை வெட்டுகிறார்கள், தச்சன் அதைத் தன் உளியினால் வடிவமைக்கிறான்.
For the customs of the people [are] vain: for [one] cutteth a tree out of the forest, the work of the hands of the workman, with the ax.
4 அவர்கள் அதை வெள்ளியாலும், தங்கத்தாலும் அலங்கரித்து, சுத்தியலாலும், ஆணிகளாலும் அடித்து அது சாய்ந்து விழாதபடி இறுக்குகிறார்கள்.
They deck it with silver and with gold; they fasten it with nails and with hammers, that it may not move.
5 அவை வெள்ளரித் தோட்டத்தின் பொம்மையைப்போல காணப்படுகின்றன. அவர்களின் விக்கிரகங்கள் பேசமாட்டாது, அவைகளால் நடக்கவும் முடியாது. ஆகையால் அவைகளைச் சுமந்து செல்லவேண்டும். அவைகள் நன்மையானதையோ, தீமையானதையோ செய்ய முடியாதவை. ஆகையால் அவைகளுக்குப் பயப்படாதிருங்கள் என்றார்.
They [are] upright as the palm tree, but speak not: they must needs be borne, because they cannot go. Be not afraid of them; for they cannot do evil, neither also [is it] in them to do good.
6 யெகோவாவே, உம்மைப்போல் ஒருவருமில்லை. நீர் வலிமை மிக்கவர். உம்முடைய பெயர் ஆற்றலில் வலிமையுள்ளது.
Forasmuch as [there is] none like to thee, O LORD; thou [art] great, and thy name [is] great in might.
7 நாடுகளின் அரசரே! உம்மிடத்தில் பயபக்தியில்லாமல் யார்தான் இருப்பார்கள்? இது உமக்கு மட்டுமே உரியது. நாடுகளிலுள்ள எல்லா ஞானிகள் மத்தியிலும், அவர்களுடைய எல்லா அரசுகளுக்குள்ளும், உம்மைப் போன்றவர் எவருமே இல்லை.
Who would not fear thee, O King of nations? for to thee doth it appertain: forasmuch as among all the wise [men] of the nations, and in all their kingdoms, [there is] none like to thee.
8 அவர்கள் எல்லோரும் உணர்ச்சியற்றவர்களும் மூடருமாய் இருக்கிறார்கள். பயனற்ற மரத்தாலான விக்கிரகங்களால் அவர்கள் போதிக்கப்பட்டிருக்கிறார்கள்.
But they are altogether brutish and foolish: the stock [is] a doctrine of vanities.
9 வெள்ளித்தகடு தர்ஷீசிலிருந்தும், தங்கம் ஊப்பாசிலிருந்தும் கொண்டுவரப்படுகின்றன. கைவினைஞனாலும், கொல்லனாலும் செய்யப்பட்ட விக்கிரகங்களுக்கு நீலநிற உடைகளும், ஊதாநிற உடைகளும் உடுத்தப்பட்டிருக்கின்றன. இவை எல்லாம் சிறந்த தொழிலாளிகளினால் செய்யப்பட்டவை.
Silver spread into plates is brought from Tarshish, and gold from Uphaz, the work of the workman, and of the hands of the founder: blue and purple [is] their clothing: they [are] all the work of skillful [men].
10 ஆனாலும், யெகோவாவே உண்மையான இறைவன். அவரே வாழும் இறைவன்; நித்திய அரசர். அவர் கோபங்கொள்ளும்போது பூமி நடுங்குகிறது. அவருடைய கடுங்கோபத்தை நாடுகள் தாங்கிக்கொள்ள மாட்டாது.
But the LORD [is] the true God, he [is] the living God, and an everlasting king: at his wrath the earth shall tremble, and the nations shall not be able to abide his indignation.
11 வானங்களையும், பூமியையும் படைக்காத இந்த தெய்வங்கள் பூமியிலிருந்தும், வானங்களின் கீழிருந்தும் அழிந்துவிடும் என்பதை அவர்களுக்குச் சொல்.
Thus shall ye say to them, The gods that have not made the heavens and the earth, [even] they shall perish from the earth, and from under these heavens.
12 ஆனால் இறைவன் தமது வல்லமையினால் பூமியைப் படைத்து, தமது ஞானத்தினால் உலகத்தை நிறுவி, தமது அறிவாற்றலினால் வானங்களை விரித்தார்.
He hath made the earth by his power, he hath established the world by his wisdom, and hath stretched out the heavens by his discretion.
13 அவர் முழங்கும்போது, வானங்களிலுள்ள திரளான தண்ணீர் இரைகின்றன. அவர் பூமியின் கடைசி எல்லைகளிலிருந்து மேகங்களை எழும்பப்பண்ணுகிறார். அவர் மழையுடன் மின்னலை அனுப்பி, தமது களஞ்சியங்களிலிருந்து காற்றை வெளியே கொண்டுவருகிறார்.
When he uttereth his voice, [there is] a multitude of waters in the heavens, and he causeth the vapors to ascend from the ends of the earth; he maketh lightnings with rain, and bringeth forth the wind out of his treasures.
14 ஒவ்வொரு மனிதனும் உணர்வற்றவனும், அறிவற்றவனுமாயிருக்கிறான். ஒவ்வொரு கொல்லனும் தன் விக்கிரகங்களால் வெட்கமடைகிறான். ஏனெனில் அவனுடைய உருவச்சிலைகள் போலியானவை. அவைகளில் சுவாசமில்லை.
Every man is brutish in [his] knowledge: every founder is confounded by the graven image: for his molten image [is] falsehood, and [there is] no breath in them.
15 அவைகள் பயனற்றவையாகவும், கேலிக்குரிய பொருட்களாகவும் இருக்கின்றன. அவைகளுக்குரிய தண்டனை வரும்போது அவை அழிந்துபோகும்.
They [are] vanity, [and] the work of errors: in the time of their visitation they shall perish.
16 யாக்கோபின் பங்காயிருப்பவர் இவைகளைப் போன்றவர் அல்ல. ஏனெனில், அவரே எல்லாவற்றையும் படைத்தவர். அவருடைய உரிமைச்சொத்தான இஸ்ரயேல் கோத்திரத்தையும் அவரே படைத்தார். சேனைகளின் யெகோவா என்பது அவருடைய பெயர்.
The portion of Jacob [is] not like them: for he [is] the former of all [things]; and Israel [is] the rod of his inheritance: The LORD of hosts [is] his name.
17 கைதிகளாக வாழும் எருசலேம் மக்களே! நாட்டைவிட்டுப் போவதற்கு உங்கள் பொருட்களைச் சேர்த்துக்கொள்ளுங்கள்.
Gather up thy wares out of the land, O inhabitant of the fortress.
18 ஏனெனில் யெகோவா சொல்வது இதுவே: “அந்த நாட்டில் குடியிருப்பவர்களை நான் இப்போதே அகற்றிவிடுவேன். நான் அவர்கள்மீது துன்பத்தைக் கொண்டுவருவேன். அவர்கள் சிறைப்பிடிக்கப்படுவார்கள்.”
For thus saith the LORD; Behold, I will sling out the inhabitants of the land at this once, and will distress them that they may find [it so].
19 என் காயத்தினால் எனக்கு எவ்வளவு வேதனை! என் காயம் குணமாக்க முடியாத ஒன்றாய் இருக்கிறது. ஆனால் நானோ, “இது என் வருத்தம்; நானே அதைத் தாங்கிக்கொள்ள வேண்டும்” என எனக்குள் கூறினேன்.
Woe is me for my hurt! my wound is grievous: but I said, Truly this [is] a grief, and I must bear it.
20 என் கூடாரம் அழிந்துவிட்டது. அதன் கயிறுகளும் அறுந்துபோயின. என் மகன்கள் என்னைவிட்டு போய்விட்டார்கள். அவர்கள் என்னிடம் இல்லை. இப்போது என்னுடைய கூடாரத்தைப் போடவோ, என் புகலிடத்தை அமைக்கவோ யாருமில்லை.
My tabernacle is laid waste, and all my cords are broken: my children are gone from me, and they [are] not: [there is] none to stretch forth my tent any more, and to set up my curtains.
21 மேய்ப்பர்கள் உணர்வற்றவர்களாய் இருக்கிறார்கள். அவர்கள் யெகோவாவிடம் விசாரிக்கிறதில்லை. ஆகையினால் அவர்கள் செழித்தோங்கவில்லை. அவர்கள் மந்தைகளும் சிதறிப்போயின.
For the pastors have become brutish, and have not sought the LORD: therefore they shall not prosper, and all their flocks shall be scattered.
22 கேளுங்கள்! செய்தி ஒன்று வருகிறது. வடநாட்டிலிருந்து ஒரு பெரும் அமளியின் சத்தம் கேட்கிறது. அது யூதாவின் பட்டணங்களைப் பாழாக்கி, அவைகளை நரிகளின் இருப்பிடமாக்கும்.
Behold, the sound of the noise is come, and a great commotion from the north country, to make the cities of Judah desolate, [and] a den of dragons.
23 யெகோவாவே, ஒரு மனிதனின் உயிர் அவன் வசத்தில் இல்லை என்பதையும், தன் வழிகளை அமைத்துக்கொள்வதற்கு மனிதனால் இயலாது என்பதையும் நான் அறிவேன்.
O LORD, I know that the way of man [is] not in himself: [it is] not in man that walketh to direct his steps.
24 யெகோவாவே, என்னை நீதியுடன் சீர்திருத்தும். நான் அழிந்துபோகாதபடி உம்முடைய கோபத்தில் தண்டியாதிரும்.
O LORD, correct me, but with judgment; not in thy anger, lest thou bring me to nothing.
25 உமது கடுங்கோபத்தை உம்மை ஏற்றுக்கொள்ளாத நாட்டினர்மேலும், உமது பெயரைச்சொல்லிக் கூப்பிடாத மக்கள்மேலும் ஊற்றும். ஏனெனில் அவர்கள் யாக்கோபை விழுங்கினார்கள். அவனை முற்றிலுமாக விழுங்கி, அவனுடைய தாய் நாட்டையும் அழித்துப்போட்டார்கள்.
Pour out thy fury upon the heathen that know thee not, and upon the families that call not on thy name: for they have eaten up Jacob, and devoured him, and consumed him, and have made his habitation desolate.
