யாக்கோபு 1
1 இறைவனுக்கும் கர்த்தராகிய இயேசுகிறிஸ்துவுக்கும் ஊழியக்காரனாயிருக்கிற யாக்கோபு, வெவ்வேறு நாடுகளில் சிதறியிருக்கிற பன்னிரண்டு கோத்திரங்களுக்கும் எழுதுகிறதாவது: வாழ்த்துகள்.
James, a servant of God and of the Lord Jesus Christ, to the twelve tribes who are in the dispersion: Health.
2 பிரியமானவர்களே, நீங்கள் பலவித விசுவாச கஷ்டங்களுக்கு உள்ளாகும் போதெல்லாம், அதை மிகுந்த சந்தோஷமானதாகவே கருதவேண்டுமென்று எண்ணிக்கொள்ளுங்கள்.
My brethren, count it all joy, when you fall into diverse trials;
3 ஏனெனில் உங்கள் விசுவாசம் பரீட்சிக்கப்படும்போது, அது உங்களில் மனவுறுதியை உண்டாக்குகிறது என்று நீங்கள் அறிந்திருக்கிறீர்கள்.
knowing that the proof of your faith works out patience.
4 மனவுறுதி உங்களில் முழுமையாய் செயலாற்றுகிறபொழுது, நீங்கள் முதிர்ச்சி பெற்றவர்களாயும், எதிலுமே குறைவுபடாது முழுநிறைவு பெற்றவர்களாயும் இருப்பீர்கள்.
Let patience, therefore, have a perfect effect, that you may be perfect and complete, deficient in nothing.
5 உங்களில் யாராவது ஞானத்தில் குறைவுள்ளவராக இருந்தால், அவர்கள் இறைவனிடம் கேட்கவேண்டும். அப்பொழுது அது அவர்களுக்குக் கொடுக்கப்படும். ஏனெனில் இறைவன் குற்றங்குறை பாராமல், எல்லோருக்கும் தாராளமாய்க் கொடுக்கிறவராய் இருக்கிறார்.
If any of you be deficient in wisdom, let him ask it of God: who gives to all men liberally, and upbraids not, and it shall be given to him.
6 ஆனாலும், நீங்கள் கேட்கும்போது, விசுவாசத்துடன் கேட்கவேண்டும், சந்தேகப்படக்கூடாது. ஏனெனில் சந்தேகப்படுகிறவர்கள், காற்றினால் அங்குமிங்கும் அடிக்கப்படுகிற கடலின் அலையைப் போலிருக்கிறார்கள்.
But let him ask in faith, being not at all irresolute: for he who is irresolute, is like a wave of the sea, driven by the wind and tossed.
7 சந்தேகப்படுகிறவர்கள் தாங்கள் கர்த்தரிடமிருந்து எதையாவது பெறலாமென்று நினைக்கக்கூடாது;
Now let not that man think, that he shall receive anything from the Lord.
8 அப்படிப்பட்டவர்கள் இருமனமுடையவர்கள். அவர்கள் செய்வதிலெல்லாம் உறுதியற்றவர்களாய் இருக்கிறார்கள்.
A man of two minds, is unstable in all his ways.
9 தாழ்ந்த நிலைமையில் இருக்கின்ற ஒரு சகோதரன் உயர்ந்த நிலைமையைக் குறித்து மேன்மைப்பாராட்டட்டும்.
Moreover, let the brother of humble condition glory in his exaltation,
10 செல்வந்தனாய் இருக்கின்ற சகோதரனோ, தாழ்மையுள்ள மனப்பான்மையைக்குறித்து மேன்மைப்பாராட்டட்டும். ஏனெனில் காட்டுப் பூவைப்போல் செல்வந்தன் மறைந்துபோவான்.
and the rich in his humiliation; for as a garden flower he shall pass away.--
11 கடும் வெயிலுடன் சூரியன் மேலே எழும்ப, செடி வாடிப்போகிறது; அதன் பூக்களும் உதிர்ந்து விழுகின்றன, அதன் அழகும் அழிந்துபோகிறது. இவ்விதமாகவே செல்வந்தனும் தனது வழிகளில் வீழ்ச்சியடைவான்.
For the sun rises with a burning heat, and withers the herb, and its flower falls down, and the beauty of its appearance perishes: so also shall the rich man fade in his ways.
12 கஷ்டங்கள் மத்தியில் மனவுறுதியுடன் நின்று வெற்றிகொள்ளும் மனிதன் ஆசீர்வதிக்கப்பட்டவன். ஏனெனில் அவன் கஷ்டங்களில் உறுதியாய் நின்றபின், இறைவன் தம்மில் அன்பாயிருக்கிறவர்களுக்கு கொடுப்பதாக வாக்குப்பண்ணியிருக்கிற ஜீவக்கிரீடத்தைப் பெற்றுக்கொள்வான்.
Blessed is the man who sustains trial, for becoming an approved person, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord has promised to them who love him.
13 சோதிக்கப்படும்போது, “இறைவன் என்னைச் சோதிக்கிறார்” என்று ஒருவனும் சொல்லக்கூடாது. ஏனெனில் இறைவன் தீமையினால் சோதிக்கப்படுகிறவரல்ல, அவர் யாரையும் அப்படிச் சோதிக்கிறவருமல்ல;
Let no one who is tempted say, Certainly I am tempted by God: for God is incapable of being tempted by evil things, and he tempts no one.
14 ஆனால் ஒவ்வொருவனும் தனது சொந்தத் தீய ஆசையினாலேயே இழுப்புண்டும், கவரப்பட்டும் சோதிக்கப்படுகிறான்.
But every one is tempted, when he is drawn away, and enticed by his own lust:
15 அப்பொழுது அந்த ஆசையானது கருத்தரித்து, பாவத்தைப் பிறப்பிக்கின்றது; பாவம் முழு வளர்ச்சி பெறும்போது, அது மரணத்தை பிறப்பிக்கின்றது.
then lust having conceived, brings forth sin, and sin, being perfected, brings forth death.
16 எனக்கு பிரியமானவர்களே, ஏமாந்து போகவேண்டாம்.
Be not deceived, my beloved brethren;
17 நல்லதும் முழுநிறைவானதுமான நன்கொடை அனைத்தும், பரலோகத்திலிருக்கின்ற பிதாவினிடத்திலிருந்தே வருகின்றன. அவரே பரலோக வெளிச்சத்தின் பிதா, அவர் இடம் மாறும் நிழலைப்போல் மாறுகிறவரல்ல.
every good gift, and every perfect gift, is from above, descended from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variableness, nor shadow of turning.
18 பிதா படைத்தவை எல்லாவற்றிலும், நாம் முதற்கனிகளாய் இருக்கும்படி நம்மைத் தமது சித்தத்தின்படி, சத்திய வார்த்தையின் மூலமாக நமக்கு பிறப்பைக் கொடுத்தார்.
Of his own will, he begot us by the word of truth, that we should be a kind of fruits of his creatures.
19 பிரியமானவர்களே, நீங்கள் கவனிக்கவேண்டியது என்னவென்றால்: செவிகொடுத்துக் கேட்பதில் நீங்கள் துரிதமாயும், பேசுவதிலும் கோபிப்பதிலும் தாமதமாயும் இருக்கவேண்டும்.
Wherefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath;
20 ஏனெனில், இறைவன் நம்மில் விரும்பும் நீதியான வாழ்வை மனிதனுடைய கோபம் உண்டாக்குவதில்லை.
for the wrath of man works not out the righteousness of God.
21 எனவே, பரவியிருக்கின்ற எல்லா ஒழுக்கக்கேட்டையும் தீமையையும் உங்களைவிட்டு அகற்றுங்கள். நீங்களோ, உங்களுக்குள் நாட்டப்பட்டிருக்கும் வார்த்தையைத் தாழ்மையுடன் ஏற்றுக்கொள்ளுங்கள். அந்த வார்த்தையே உங்களை இரட்சிக்கும் வல்லமையுடையது.
Wherefore, putting away all filthiness, and overflowing of maliciousness, embrace with meekness the implanted word, which is able to save your souls.
22 வார்த்தையை கேட்கிறவர்களாய் மட்டுமில்லாமல், அதன்படி செய்யுங்கள். இல்லையெனில், நீங்கள் உங்களையே ஏமாற்றிக்கொள்வீர்கள்.
And be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves by false reasoning.
23 வார்த்தையைக் கேட்டும் அதன்படி நடக்காதவன், தன்னுடைய முகத்தை கண்ணாடியில் பார்த்தும்,
For if any one be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like a man who views his natural face in a mirror;
24 தன்னில் இருந்த குறையை உடனே மறந்துபோகிற மனிதனுக்கு ஒப்பாயிருக்கிறான்.
for he who looks at himself and goes away, and immediately forgets what kind of person he was.
25 ஆனால் நமக்கு விடுதலை கொடுக்கும் இந்த முழுநிறைவான சட்டத்தைக் கூர்ந்துகவனிக்கும் மனிதன், தான் கேட்டதை மறந்துவிடாமல், அதை கைக்கொண்டு தொடர்ந்து நடக்கவேண்டும். அப்படி நடந்தால், அவன் தன் செய்கையில் ஆசீர்வதிக்கப்படுவான்.
But he who looks narrowly into the perfect law of liberty, and perseveres, not becoming a forgetful hearer, but a doer of its work, shall, in so doing, be happy.
26 யாராவது தங்களை பக்தியுள்ளவர்கள் என்று எண்ணினாலும், அவர்கள் தங்களுடைய நாவை அடக்காவிட்டால், தங்களையே ஏமாற்றிக்கொள்கிறார்கள். அவர்களுடைய பக்தியும் பயனற்றதே.
If any one among you think to be religious, who bridles not his tongue, but deceives his own heart, the religion of this person is vain.
27 கஷ்டப்படும் அநாதைகளையும் விதவைகளையும் பராமரிக்கிறதும், உலகத்தால் கறைபடாது தங்களைக் காத்துக்கொள்வதுமே, நம்முடைய பிதாவாகிய இறைவனால் ஏற்றுக்கொள்ளப்படுகிற தூய்மையான, மாசற்ற பக்தியாயிருக்கிறது.
Pure religion, and undefiled, with God, even the Father, is this: To take care of orphans and widows in their affliction, and to keep one's self unspotted from the world.
