ஏசாயா 31

1 உதவி நாடி எகிப்திற்குப் போகிறவர்களுக்கு ஐயோ கேடு! அவர்கள் குதிரைகளை நம்பி, தங்கள் திரளான தேர்களிலும், தங்கள் குதிரைவீரரின் பெரும் பலத்திலும் நம்பிக்கை வைக்கிறார்கள். ஆனால், இஸ்ரயேலின் பரிசுத்தரை நோக்காமலும், யெகோவாவின் உதவியைத் தேடாமலும் இருக்கின்றார்கள்.

Woe to them that go down to Egypt for help, And put their trust in horses, And confide in chariots, because they are many, And in horsemen, because their number is great, But look not to the Holy One of Israel, And resort not to Jehovah.

2 யெகோவாவோ ஞானமுள்ளவர், அவரால்தான் அழிவைக் கொண்டுவர முடியும்; அவர் சொன்ன வார்த்தையை மாற்றுவதில்லை, அவர் கொடுமையானவரின் குடும்பத்திற்கு விரோதமாகவும், தீயவர்களுக்கு உதவுவோருக்கு எதிராகவும் எழும்புவார்.

Yet he, too, is wise; He will bring evil, and not take back his words; He will arise against the house of the evil-doers, And against the help of them that do iniquity.

3 ஆனால் எகிப்தியர் மனிதர்களேயன்றி இறைவன் அல்ல; அவர்களின் குதிரைகள் மாமிசமேயன்றி ஆவியல்ல. யெகோவா தமது கரத்தை நீட்டும்போது, உதவிசெய்கிறவன் இடறுவான். உதவி பெறுவோனும் விழுவான்; இருவரும் ஒன்றாய் அழிவார்கள்.

The Egyptians are men, and not God, And their horses are flesh, and not spirit. When Jehovah shall stretch forth his hand, Then shall the helper fall, and the helped be overthrown; And they shall all perish together.

4 யெகோவா எனக்கு சொல்வது இதுவே: “சிங்கமோ, இளஞ்சிங்கமோ, தன் இரையைப் பிடித்துக்கொண்டு கர்ஜிக்கும்போது, அதை எதிர்ப்பதற்கு முழு மேய்ப்பர் கூட்டத்தை அழைத்தாலும், அது அவர்களின் கூக்குரலுக்கு அஞ்சவோ, இரைச்சலைப் பொருட்படுத்தவோ மாட்டாது. அதுபோலவே, சேனைகளின் யெகோவா, சீயோன் மலையிலும் அதன் உயரிடங்களிலும் யுத்தம் செய்வதற்கு இறங்குவார்.

For thus hath Jehovah said to me: As when the lion and the young lion growl over their prey, And a multitude of shepherds is called forth against him, By their noise he is not terrified, Nor by their tumult disheartened; So shall Jehovah of hosts come down to fight for mount Zion, and her hill.

5 பறவைகள் தமது கூடுகளின் மேலே வட்டமிட்டுப் பறப்பதுபோல, சேனைகளின் யெகோவா எருசலேமைப் பாதுகாப்பார். அவர் அதைப் பாதுகாத்து மீட்பார், அவர் அதற்கு மேலாகக் கடந்து அதை விடுவிப்பார்.”

As birds hover over their young, So shall Jehovah of hosts defend Jerusalem; He will defend and deliver, spare and save.

6 இஸ்ரயேலரே, அவரை எதிர்த்து அதிகமாய் கலகம் செய்த நீங்கள் அவரிடம் திரும்புங்கள்.

Turn, O ye children of Israel, To him from whom ye have so deeply revolted! For in that day shall every one cast away his idols of

7 ஏனென்றால், அந்த நாளிலே நீங்கள் ஒவ்வொருவரும் உங்கள் பாவக் கைகளினால் செய்த வெள்ளி விக்கிரகங்களையும், தங்க விக்கிரகங்களையும் ஒதுக்கி எறிந்து விடுவீர்கள்.

silver and his idols of gold, Which your hands have made for sin.

8 “அசீரியா வீழ்ச்சியடைவது மனிதனின் வாளினால் அல்ல. மனிதனால் ஆக்கப்படாத ஒரு வாள் அவர்களை விழுங்கும்; வாளுக்கு முன்னால் அவர்கள் பயந்து ஓடுவார்கள்; அவர்களின் வாலிபர் கட்டாய வேலைக்கு அமர்த்தப்படுவார்கள்.

The Assyrian shall fall by a sword not of man, Yea, a sword not of mortal shall devour him; He shall flee before the sword, And his young warriors shall be slaves.

9 அவர்களின் அரண் பயங்கரத்தால் வீழ்ச்சியடையும்; அவர்களின் தளபதிகள் போர்க் கொடிகளைக் கண்டதும் திகிலடைவார்கள்” என்று யெகோவா அறிவிக்கிறார். சீயோனில் அவருடைய நெருப்பும், எருசலேமில் அவருடைய சூளையும் இருக்கிறது.

Through fear shall he pass beyond his stronghold, And his princes shall be afraid of the standard. Thus saith Jehovah, who hath his fire in Zion, And his furnace in Jerusalem.
