ஆதியாகமம் 44

1 அதன்பின் யோசேப்பு, தன் வீட்டு மேற்பார்வையாளனிடம், “இந்த மனிதருடைய சாக்குகளை அவர்கள் தூக்கிச் சுமக்கக்கூடிய அளவு தானியத்தால் நிரப்பி, ஒவ்வொருவரின் சாக்குகளின் வாயிலும் அவனவன் வெள்ளிக்காசை வைத்துக் கட்டு.

Then commanded he him who was over his house saying—Fill the sacks of the men, with food, as much as they can carry, and put each man’s silver in the mouth of his sack;

2 இளையவன் பென்யமீனுடைய சாக்கின் வாயிலே என் வெள்ளிக்கிண்ணத்தையும் தானியத்துக்கான வெள்ளிக்காசையும் வைத்துக் கட்டு” என்று கட்டளையிட்டான். யோசேப்பு சொன்னபடியே அவன் செய்தான்.

and my cup—the cup of silver, shalt thou put in the mouth of the sack of the youngest, with his corn-silver. So he did, according to the word of Joseph, which he had spoken.

3 காலை விடிந்தபோது, அவர்கள் தங்கள் கழுதைகளுடன் வழியனுப்பப்பட்டனர்.

By the time, the morning, was light, the men, had been sent away, they, and their asses.

4 அவர்கள் பட்டணத்திலிருந்து அதிக தூரம் போகுமுன் யோசேப்பு தன் வீட்டு மேற்பார்வையாளனிடம், “நீ உடனே அவர்களைப் பின்தொடர்ந்து போ; அவர்களைப் பிடித்தவுடன் அவர்களிடம், ‘நீங்கள் நன்மைக்குப் பதிலாகத் தீமை செய்தது ஏன்?

They themselves, had gone out of the city—they had not gone far, when Joseph said to him who was over his house, Rise chase after the men, —so shalt thou overtake them and shalt say unto them, Wherefore have ye requited evil for good?

5 இது என் எஜமான் பானம் பண்ணுவதற்கும் எதிர்காலத்தை கணிக்கவும் பயன்படுத்தும் பாத்திரமல்லவா? நீங்கள் செய்திருப்பது கொடிய செயல்’ என்று சொல்” என்றான்.

Is not this that in which my lord drinketh, and whereby, he himself, doth divine? Ye have done evil in what ye have done.

6 அவன் அவர்களைச் சென்றடைந்தபோது, அவ்வார்த்தைகளை அப்படியே சொன்னான்.

So he overtook them, —and spake unto them these words.

7 ஆனால் அவர்கள் அவனிடம், “ஏன் ஐயா இப்படியானவற்றைச் சொல்கிறீர்? இப்படிப்பட்ட எதையும் செய்ய உமது அடியாராகிய நாங்கள் எண்ணியும் பார்க்கவில்லை!

And they said unto him, Wherefore should my lord speak such words as these? Far be thy servants, from doing such a thing as this!

8 முன்பு எங்கள் சாக்குகளில் நாங்கள் கண்ட பணத்தைக்கூட கானானிலிருந்து மீண்டும் கொண்டுவந்தோம். அப்படியிருக்க, உமது எஜமானின் வீட்டிலிருந்து வெள்ளியையோ தங்கத்தையோ நாங்கள் ஏன் திருடவேண்டும்?

Lo! the silver that we found in the mouth of our sacks, we brought back unto thee out of the land of Canaan, —how then could we steal out of the house of thy lord, silver or gold?

9 உமது அடியாரில் எவராவது அதை வைத்திருப்பதை நீர் கண்டால் அவன் சாகவேண்டும்; மற்றவர்கள் என் எஜமானின் அடிமைகளாவோம்” என்றார்கள்.

With whomsoever of thy servants it can be found, he shall die, —and, we also, will become my lord’s servants.

10 அதற்கு அவன், “அப்படியானால் சரி; நீங்கள் சொன்னபடியே ஆகட்டும். உங்களில் எவனுடைய சாக்கில் அந்த வெள்ளிப் பாத்திரம் இருக்கிறதோ, அவன் எனக்கு அடிமையாவான்; மற்றவர்கள் குற்றத்திலிருந்து விடுவிக்கப்படுவீர்கள்” என்றான்.

And he said, Yea, now, according to your words, so, let it be, —he with whom it is found, shall be my servant, Ye, however, shall be clear.

11 அவர்கள் ஒவ்வொருவரும் தன்தன் சாக்கைக் கீழே இறக்கி, அதை அவிழ்த்தார்கள்.

So they hastened and took down each man his sack to the ground, —and opened each man his sack.

12 அப்பொழுது மேற்பார்வையாளன் மூத்தவனுடைய சாக்கிலிருந்து இளையவனுடைய சாக்குவரை சோதிக்கத் தொடங்கினான். அந்தப் பாத்திரம் பென்யமீனுடைய சாக்கில் இருக்கக் காணப்பட்டது.

Then made he thorough search, with the eldest, he began, and with the youngest, he ended, —and the cup was found in the sack of Benjamin!

13 அதைக் கண்டவுடனே அவர்கள் தங்கள் உடைகளைக் கிழித்துக்கொண்டார்கள். பின்பு, அவர்கள் எல்லோரும் தங்கள் கழுதைகளில் சுமைகளை ஏற்றிக்கொண்டு பட்டணத்திற்குத் திரும்பி வந்தார்கள்.

And they rent their mantles, —and laded each man his ass, and returned to the city.

14 யூதாவும் அவன் சகோதரரும் திரும்பிவந்தபோது, யோசேப்பு இன்னும் தன் வீட்டிலேயே இருந்தான். அவர்கள் யோசேப்பின் முன் தரையில் முகங்குப்புற விழுந்தார்கள்.

And Judah and his brethren came into the house of Joseph, he, yet being there, —and fell down before him to the earth.

15 யோசேப்பு அவர்களிடம், “நீங்கள் செய்திருப்பது என்ன? என்னைப்போன்ற ஒரு மனிதன், சம்பவிக்கப் போவதை முன்பே கணித்துவிடுவான் என்று உங்களுக்குத் தெரியாதா?” என்றான்.

And Joseph said to them, What is this deed which ye have done? Know ye not that such a man as I, can even divine?

16 அதற்கு யூதா, “ஆண்டவனே, உமக்கு நாங்கள் என்ன சொல்வோம்? நாங்கள் குற்றமற்றவர்கள் என்பதை எப்படி நிரூபிப்போம்? இறைவன் உமது அடியாரின் குற்றத்தை வெளிப்படுத்திவிட்டார். நாங்களும் உமது பாத்திரத்தை வைத்திருப்பவனும் இப்பொழுது என் எஜமானுக்கு அடிமைகள்” என்றான்.

Then said Judah—What shall we say to my lord, how shall we speak and how shall we justify ourselves, —when, God himself, hath found out the iniquity of thy servants? Behold us! my lord’s servants, both we, and he in whose hand the cup hath been found.

17 ஆனால் யோசேப்போ, “அப்படிப்பட்ட செயலைச் செய்வதை என்னால் எண்ணிப்பார்க்கவும் முடியாது! கிண்ணத்தை வைத்திருக்கக் காணப்பட்டவன் மட்டுமே எனக்கு அடிமையாவான். மற்றவர்கள் உங்கள் தகப்பனிடம் சமாதானத்துடன் திரும்பிப்போங்கள்” என்றான்.

And he said, Far be it from me to do this thing! The man in whose hand the cup hath been found, he, shall be my servant, but as for you, go ye up in peace unto your father.

18 யூதா யோசேப்பிடம் சென்று, “ஆண்டவனே, உமது அடியானாகிய நான், உம்மிடம் ஒரு வார்த்தை சொல்ல அனுமதியும். நீர் பார்வோனுக்குச் சமமாய் இருக்கிறபோதிலும், உமது அடியவன்மேல் கோபிக்க வேண்டாம்.

Then Judah drew near unto him, and said—Pardon my lord! Pray let thy servant speak a word in the ears of my lord, and do not let thine anger be kindled against thy servant, —for, thus, art, thou as Pharaoh!

19 ஆண்டவனே, நீர் உமது அடியார்களிடம், ‘உங்களுக்குத் தகப்பனாவது சகோதரராவது இருக்கிறார்களா?’ என்று கேட்டீர்.

It was, my lord, who asked his servants, saying, —Have ye a father, or a brother?

20 அதற்கு நாங்கள் எங்கள் ஆண்டவனிடம், ‘ஆம், எங்களுக்கு வயதுசென்ற தகப்பனும், அவருக்கு முதிர்வயதில் பிறந்த ஒரு இளம் மகனும் இருக்கிறான். அவனுடைய சகோதரன் இறந்துபோனான், அவனுடைய தாயின் பிள்ளைகளில் அவன் ஒருவனே உயிரோடிருக்கிறான்; அவனுடைய தகப்பன் அவனை நேசிக்கிறார்’ என்று சொன்னோம்.

So we said unto my lord, We have an aged father, and the child of his old age a youth, —his brother, being dead, he alone, is left of his mother and, his father, loveth him.

21 “அப்பொழுது நீர் உமது அடியாரிடம், ‘நான் அவனைப் பார்ப்பதற்கு அவனை என்னிடம் இங்கு கொண்டுவாருங்கள்’ என்றீர்.

So then thou saidst unto thy servants, Bring him down unto me, —that I may set mine eyes upon him.

22 அதற்கு நாங்கள் உம்மிடம், ‘ஐயா, அவன் தகப்பனைவிட்டு வரமுடியாது; அப்படி அவன் பிரிந்து வந்தால், அவனுடைய தகப்பன் இறந்து போவார்’ என்றோம்.

And we said unto my lord, The lad cannot leave his father, —as surely as he leaveth his father, so surely will he, die.

23 ஆனால் நீரோ, ‘உங்கள் இளைய சகோதரன் உங்களுடன் வராவிட்டால், மீண்டும் என் முகத்தை உங்களால் பார்க்க முடியாது’ என்று உமது அடியாராகிய எங்களிடம் சொன்னீர்.

And thou saidst unto thy servants, Except your youngest brother do come down with you, ye shall not again behold my face.

24 நாங்கள் உமது அடியவனாகிய எங்கள் தகப்பனிடம் போனபோது, ஐயா, நீர் சொல்லியிருந்தவற்றை அவரிடம் சொன்னோம்.

So it came to pass when we had gone up unto thy servant, my father, that we told him the words of my lord.

25 “எங்கள் தகப்பனோ, ‘நீங்கள் மறுபடியும்போய் இன்னும் கொஞ்சம் தானியம் வாங்கி வாருங்கள்’ என்றார்.

Then said our father, —Go again buy us a little food,

26 அப்போது நாங்கள் அவரிடம், ‘நாங்கள் அங்கே போகமுடியாது; எங்கள் இளைய சகோதரன் எங்களுடன் வந்தால்தான் நாங்கள் அங்கே போவோம். எங்கள் இளைய சகோதரன் எங்களோடு வராவிட்டால், நாங்கள் அந்த மனிதனின் முகத்தைப் பார்க்கவே முடியாது’ என்று சொன்னோம்.

And we said, We cannot go down, —If our youngest brother be with us, then will we go down, for we cannot see the face of the man if, our youngest brother, is not with us.

27 “அப்பொழுது உமது அடியானாகிய எங்கள் தகப்பன் எங்களிடம், ‘என் மனைவி இரண்டு மகன்களைப் பெற்றாள் என்பதை நீங்கள் அறிவீர்கள்.

Then said thy servant my father, unto us, —Ye yourselves, know, that, two, did my wife bear to me,

28 அவர்களில் ஒருவன் என்னைவிட்டுப் போய்விட்டான், “நிச்சயமாய் அவனை ஒரு கொடிய மிருகம் கிழித்துக் கொன்றிருக்க வேண்டும்.” அன்றிலிருந்து அவனை நான் காணவேயில்லை.

and the one went forth from me, and I said—Certainly he hath been, torn in pieces, —And I have never seen him since.

29 நீங்கள் இவனையும் என்னிடமிருந்து கொண்டுபோய், இவனுக்குத் தீங்கு ஏதும் ஏற்பட்டுவிட்டால், முதியவனாகிய என்னைத் துக்கத்தோடே சவக்குழியில் இறங்கப் பண்ணுவீர்கள்’ என்றார். (Sheol h7585)

As surely as ye take, this one also, away from before my face and there befall him any mischief, so surely shall ye bring down my grey hairs, with misfortune to hades. (Sheol h7585)

30 “இந்த சிறுவனுடைய உயிருடன் என் தகப்பனின் உயிர் ஒன்றிணைந்து இருக்கின்றது. அதனால் இப்பொழுது நான் உமது அடியானாகிய என் தகப்பனிடம் போகும்போது,

Now, therefore, as surely as I go in unto thy servant my father, and, the lad, is not with us, —seeing that his soul is bound up with the lad’s soul,

31 இந்த சிறுவன் அங்கு இல்லாததைக் கண்டால், அவர் இறந்துவிடுவார். அதனால் உமது அடியாராகிய நாங்கள், எங்கள் முதிர்வயதான தகப்பனைத் துக்கத்துடன் சவக்குழியில் இறங்கச் செய்வோம். (Sheol h7585)

so surely shall it come to pass that when he seeth that the lad is not with us, then will he die. So shall thy servants bring down the grey hairs of thy servant our father, with sorrow to hades. (Sheol h7585)

32 உமது அடியானாகிய நானே இந்த சிறுவனின் பாதுகாப்புக்கு உத்தரவாதம் அளித்தேன். நான் என் தகப்பனிடம், ‘என் தகப்பனே, இவனை மறுபடியும் உம்மிடம் கொண்டுவராவிட்டால், உமக்கு முன்பாக என் வாழ்நாளெல்லாம் அந்தப் பழியை நானே சுமப்பேன்’ என்றும் சொல்லியிருக்கிறேன்.

For thy servant, became surety for the lad, while away from my father saying, —If I bring him not unto thee, then will I count myself a sinner against my father all the days.

33 “ஆகையால் இப்பொழுது இந்த சிறுவனுக்குப் மறுமொழியாக, ஐயா, உமது அடியானாகிய நான் உமது அடிமையாக இங்கே இருப்பேன், இவன் தன் சகோதரருடன் திரும்பிச் செல்லட்டும்.

Now, therefore, I pray thee let thy servant remain instead of the lad, as servant to my lord, —but as for the lad, let him go up with his brethren.

34 இவன் என்னுடன் இல்லாவிட்டால், நான் எப்படித் திரும்பிப் போகமுடியும்? முடியாது! என் தகப்பனுக்கு வரும் அவலத்தை என்னைப் பார்க்க விடாதேயும்” என்று சொன்னான்.

For how can I go up unto my father, should the lad, not be with me? lest I look on the calamity, that shall find out my father,
