ஆதியாகமம் 43

1 நாட்டிலே பஞ்சம் இன்னும் மிகக் கொடுமையாயிருந்தது.

But the famine, was severe in the land.

2 அதனால் எகிப்திலிருந்து கொண்டுவந்த தானியமெல்லாம் முடிந்தபின், அவர்கள் தகப்பன் யாக்கோபு தன் மகன்களிடம், “நீங்கள் மறுபடியும்போய் இன்னும் கொஞ்சம் தானியம் வாங்கிக் கொண்டுவாருங்கள்” என்றான்.

So it came to pass when they had made an end of eating the corn which they had brought in out of Egypt, that their father said unto them, —Return buy for us a little food.

3 அப்பொழுது யூதா தன் தகப்பனிடம், “‘உங்களுடன் உங்கள் சகோதரனும் வராவிட்டால் என் முகத்தில் நீங்கள் விழிக்க முடியாது என்று எகிப்தின் அதிபதி கண்டிப்பாக எச்சரிக்கை செய்தான்.’

Then spake Judah unto him saying, —The man, did protest, to us saying—Ye shall not see my face, except, your brother, is with you.

4 எங்கள் சகோதரனை எங்களுடன் அனுப்பினால்தான் நாங்கள் போய் உங்களுக்குத் தானியம் வாங்கிவருவோம்.

If thou art sending our brother with us, we will certainly go down, and buy for thee food;

5 நீர் அவனை எங்களுடன் அனுப்பாவிட்டால் நாங்கள் அங்கே போகமாட்டோம்; ஏனெனில், ‘உங்கள் சகோதரனும் உங்களுடன் வந்தாலன்றி, நீங்கள் என் முகத்தில் விழிக்க முடியாது’ என்று அந்த அதிகாரி சொல்லியிருக்கிறான்” என்றான்.

but, if thou art not sending him, we will not go down, for the man, said unto us Ye shall not see my face, except, your brother, is with you.

6 அப்பொழுது இஸ்ரயேல், “உங்களுக்கு இன்னுமொரு சகோதரன் இருக்கிறான் என்று சொல்லி, ஏன் இந்தத் துன்பத்தை எனக்கு வருவித்தீர்கள்?” என்று கேட்டான்.

And Israel said, Wherefore did ye ill to me, —to tell the man, there yet remained to you a brother?

7 அதற்கு அவர்கள், “அந்த மனிதன் எங்களைப் பற்றியும், எங்கள் குடும்பத்தைப்பற்றியும் விபரமாய் விசாரித்தான். ‘உங்களுடைய தகப்பன் இன்னும் உயிரோடிருக்கிறாரா?’ என்றும், ‘உங்களுக்கு இன்னுமொரு சகோதரன் இருக்கிறானா?’ என்றும் கேட்டான். நாங்கள் அவனுடைய கேள்விகளுக்கு மட்டுமே பதில் சொன்னோம். ‘உங்கள் சகோதரனை இங்கே கூட்டிக்கொண்டு வாருங்கள்’ என்று சொல்வான் என்று எங்களுக்கு எப்படித் தெரியும்?” என்றார்கள்.

And they said, The man, did ask, concerning ourselves and concerning our kindred saying—Is your father yet alive? Have ye a brother? So we told him according to the tenor of these words. Could we, at all know, that he would say, Bring down your brother?

8 பின்பு யூதா தன் தகப்பனாகிய இஸ்ரயேலிடம், “நீங்களும் நாங்களும், எங்கள் பிள்ளைகளும் சாகாமல் வாழும்படி, நீர் அவனை என்னுடன் அனுப்பும். நாங்கள் உடனேயே போவோம்.

Then said Judah unto Israel his father—Come! send thou down the young man with me that we may arise and go our way, —and live and not die, both we and thou and our little ones.

9 அவனுடைய பாதுகாப்புக்கு நானே பொறுப்பாய் இருப்பேன்; தனிப்பட்ட விதத்தில் அவனுக்காக நீர் என்னை உத்தரவாதியாக வைத்திருக்கலாம். அவனை மறுபடியும் உமது முன் கொண்டுவந்து நிறுத்தாவிட்டால், அந்தப் பழியை என் வாழ்நாள் முழுவதும் உமக்கு முன்பாக நான் சுமப்பேன்.

I, will be surety for him, at my hand, shalt thou require him, —as surely as I bring him not in unto thee, and set him down before thee, so surely will I be counted a sinner against thee all the days,

10 நாங்கள் தாமதியாமல் இருந்திருந்தால், இதுவரை நாங்கள் இரண்டுமுறை போய்த் திரும்பியிருக்கலாம்” என்றான்.

For, if we had not lingered, surely now, had we come back here a second time.

11 அதன்பின் அவர்களின் தகப்பனாகிய இஸ்ரயேல் அவர்களிடம், “அப்படியானால் நான் சொல்வதுபோல் செய்யுங்கள். நாட்டின் சிறந்த பொருட்களில் கொஞ்சம் தைலம், கொஞ்சம் தேன், கொஞ்சம் நறுமணப் பொருட்கள், வெள்ளைப்போளம், கொஞ்சம் பிஸ்தா கொட்டைகள், வாதுமைக் கொட்டைகள் ஆகியவற்றை உங்கள் சாக்குகளில் வைத்து, அந்த மனிதனுக்கு அன்பளிப்பாகக் கொண்டுபோங்கள்.

Then Israel their father said unto them—If so, then do this, —Take of the song of the land in your vessels, and carry down to the man a present, —A little balsam and a little honey, tragacanth gum and cistus gum, pistachio nuts, and almonds.

12 இரண்டு மடங்கு வெள்ளிக்காசையும் உங்களுடன் கொண்டுபோங்கள், ஏனெனில், சென்றமுறை உங்கள் சாக்குகளில் வைக்கப்பட்ட வெள்ளிக்காசையும் நீங்கள் திருப்பிக் கொடுக்கவேண்டும். இப்பணம் ஒருவேளை தவறுதலாக வந்திருக்குமோ தெரியாது.

And double silver, take in your hand, —also the silver that was put back in the mouth of your sacks, carry ye back in your hand, peradventure it was an error,

13 உங்கள் தம்பியையும் உங்களுடன் அழைத்துக்கொண்டு, உடனே அந்த மனிதனிடம் போங்கள்.

Your brother also, take ye, —and arise go again unto the man.

14 எல்லாம் வல்ல இறைவன் சிறையிலிருக்கும் உங்கள் சகோதரனையும், தம்பி பென்யமீனையும் மறுபடியும் இவ்விடம் அனுப்பும்படி அந்த மனிதன் உங்களுக்கு இரக்கம் காட்டச்செய்வாராக. நானோ பிள்ளைகளை இழக்க வேண்டுமென்றால், பிள்ளைகளை இழந்தவனாவேன்” என்றான்.

And, God Almighty, give you compassion before the man, so shall he send with you, your other brother, and Benjamin. But, as for me, when I am bereaved, I am bereaved!

15 அவ்வாறே அவர்கள் அன்பளிப்பையும் இரண்டு மடங்கு வெள்ளிக்காசையும் எடுத்துக்கொண்டு, பென்யமீனையும் தங்களுடன் கூட்டிக்கொண்டு போனார்கள். அவர்கள் எகிப்திற்கு விரைந்து சென்று, அங்கே யோசேப்பின் முன்னிலையில் போய் நின்றார்கள்.

So the men took this present, double silver also, took they in their hand and Benjamin, —and arose and went down into Egypt, and stood before Joseph.

16 பென்யமீன் அவர்களுடன் வந்திருப்பதைக் கண்ட யோசேப்பு, தன் வீட்டு மேற்பார்வையாளனிடம், “இவர்களை என் வீட்டுக்கு அழைத்துக்கொண்டு போ, இவர்கள் இன்று மத்தியானம் என்னுடன் சாப்பிடுவதற்காக, ஒரு மிருகத்தை அடித்து ஆயத்தம் செய்” என்றான்.

And Joseph saw—with them—Benjamin, so he said to him that was over his house Bring the men into the house, —and slay meat and make ready, for with me, shall the men eat at noon.

17 யோசேப்பு கட்டளையிட்டபடியே அந்த அதிகாரி அவர்களை யோசேப்பின் வீட்டுக்கு அழைத்துச் சென்றான்.

So the men did as Joseph had said, and the man brought the men into Joseph’s house,

18 அவர்கள் யோசேப்பின் வீட்டுக்குக் கொண்டு செல்லப்பட்டபோது பயந்தார்கள். அவர்கள், “முதல்முறை நாம் வந்தபோது, நமது சாக்குகளில் மீண்டும் வைக்கப்பட்டிருந்த வெள்ளிக்காசின் நிமித்தமே நாம் இங்கு கொண்டுவரப்பட்டிருக்கிறோம். நம்மைத் தாக்கி, அடக்கி, நம்மை அடிமைகளாகப் பிடித்து, நமது கழுதைகளையும் எடுத்துக்கொள்ளவே அவன் விரும்புகிறான்” என்று நினைத்தார்கள்.

Then were the men afraid because they had been brought into the house of Joseph, and they said—For the matter of the silver that came back in our sacks at the beginning, have, we, been brought in, —that he may turn round upon us and fall upon us, and take us for servants and our asses.

19 அதனால் அவர்கள் யோசேப்பின் மேற்பார்வையாளனிடம் போய், வீட்டு வாசலில் இருந்த அவனுடன் பேசினார்கள்.

So they drew near unto the man that was over Joseph’s house, —and spake unto him at the entrance of the house;

20 அவர்கள் அவனிடம், “ஆண்டவனே, முதல்முறை தானியம் வாங்க நாங்கள் இங்கே வந்தோம்.

and said, May it please my lord! We, did indeed come down, at the beginning to buy food.

21 ஆனால், போகும் வழியில் நாங்கள் இரவு தங்கிய இடத்தில், எங்கள் சாக்குகளைத் திறந்தோம். அப்பொழுது எங்கள் ஒவ்வொருவருடைய சாக்கின் வாயிலும், நாங்கள் கொடுத்த வெள்ளிக்காசு குறையாது அப்படியே இருக்கக் கண்டோம். எனவே அவற்றைத் திரும்பவும் கொண்டுவந்திருக்கிறோம்.

And it came to pass when we had entered into the inn, that we opened our sacks, and lo! the silver of each man, in the mouth of his sack, —our silver in its full weight, —so we have bought it back in our hand!

22 அத்துடன் இம்முறையும் தானியம் வாங்குவதற்கு கூடுதலாக வெள்ளிக்காசைக் கொண்டுவந்திருக்கிறோம். யார் அந்த வெள்ளிக்காசை மறுபடியும் எங்கள் சாக்குகளில் வைத்தார்கள் என்பது எங்களுக்குத் தெரியாது” என்றார்கள்.

And, more silver, have we brought down in our hand, to buy food, —we know not who put our silver in our sacks.

23 அதற்கு மேற்பார்வையாளன் அவர்களிடம், “பரவாயில்லை, நீங்கள் ஒன்றுக்கும் பயப்பட வேண்டியதில்லை. உங்கள் இறைவனான உங்கள் தகப்பனுடைய இறைவனே, உங்கள் சாக்குகளில் உங்களுக்குச் செல்வத்தை வைத்திருக்கிறார்; உங்கள் வெள்ளிக்காசை நான் பெற்றுக்கொண்டேன்” என்றான். பின்பு சிமியோனை வெளியே அவர்களிடம் கொண்டுவந்தான்.

And he said—Peace to you do not fear! Your God, and the God of your father, hath given you secret treasure, in your sacks, as for your silver, it came in unto me. And he brought forth unto them Simeon.

24 மேற்பார்வையாளன் யோசேப்பின் சகோதரரை வீட்டுக்கு அழைத்துச்சென்று, அவர்கள் கால்களைக் கழுவுவதற்குத் தண்ணீர் கொடுத்தான். அத்துடன் அவர்கள் கழுதைகளுக்குத் தீனியும் கொடுத்தான்.

So the man brought the men into Joseph’s house, —and gave them water and they bathed their feet, and he gave them provender for their asses.

25 அவர்கள் யோசேப்புடன் சாப்பிடப் போவதாகக் கேள்விப்பட்டதால், மத்தியானம் யோசேப்பு வரும்போது கொடுப்பதற்காகத் தங்கள் அன்பளிப்புகளை ஆயத்தம் செய்தார்கள்.

And they made ready the present, against the coming in of Joseph at noon, —for they heard that it was there they should eat bread.

26 யோசேப்பு வீட்டுக்கு வந்தபொழுது, அவர்கள் வீட்டுக்குள் கொண்டுவந்திருந்த தங்கள் அன்பளிப்புகளைக் கொடுத்துத் தரைமட்டும் விழுந்து, அவனை வணங்கினார்கள்.

So when Joseph came into the house, they brought in to him the present which was in their hand into the house, —and bowed themselves down to him to the earth.

27 யோசேப்பு அவர்கள் சுகசெய்திகளை விசாரித்து, “முன்பு நீங்கள் உங்கள் வயதுசென்ற தகப்பனைப் பற்றிச் சொன்னீர்களே, அவர் எப்படியிருக்கிறார்? இன்னும் அவர் உயிரோடிருக்கிறாரா?” என்று கேட்டான்.

Then asked he after their welfare, and said—Is it well with your aged father, of whom ye spake? Is he yet alive?

28 அதற்கு அவர்கள், “உமது அடியவனாகிய எங்கள் தகப்பன் இன்னும் உயிரோடு சுகமாக இருக்கிறார்” என்று சொன்னார்கள். அவனுக்கு மதிப்புக் கொடுக்கும்படி குனிந்து வணங்கினார்கள்.

And they said—It is well with thy servant our father, he is yet alive. And they bent their heads and bowed them-selves down.

29 யோசேப்பு அவர்களைப் பார்த்து, தன் சொந்தத் தாயின் மகனான, தன் சகோதரன் பென்யமீனைக் கண்டதும், நீங்கள் சொன்ன உங்கள் இளைய சகோதரன் இவன்தானா? என்று கேட்டான். பின்பு, “என் மகனே, இறைவன் உனக்குக் கிருபை செய்வாராக” என்றான்.

Then lifted he up his eyes, and saw Benjamin his brother son of his mother, and said—Is, this, your youngest brother, of whom ye spake unto me? And he said, God, grant thee favour my son!

30 யோசேப்பு தன் தம்பியைக் கண்டதும் உணர்ச்சி வசப்பட்டவனாய், விரைந்து வெளியே சென்று அழுவதற்கு இடம் தேடினான். அவன் தன்னுடைய அறைக்குள் சென்று அங்கே அழுதான்.

And Joseph made haste for his compassions towards his brother were pent up, and he sought to weep, —so he went into the inner chamber and wept there,

31 பின்பு அவன் தன் முகத்தைக் கழுவி, வெளியே வந்து தன்னை அடக்கிக்கொண்டு, “உணவு பரிமாறுங்கள்” என்றான்.

Then bathed he his face and came forth, —and restrained himself, and said Set on bread!

32 எபிரெயருடன் சாப்பிடுவது எகிப்தியருக்கு அருவருப்பாய் இருந்தபடியால், எகிப்தியர் எபிரெயருடன் அமர்ந்து சாப்பிடுவதில்லை. அதனால் யோசேப்புக்கு வேறாகவும், அவன் சகோதரர்களுக்கு வேறாகவும், அவனுடன் சாப்பிட்ட எகிப்தியருக்கு வேறாகவும் உணவு பரிமாறப்பட்டது.

So they set on for him—by himself, and for them—by themselves, —and for the Egyptians that were eating with him—by themselves, for the Egyptians might not eat, bread, with the Hebrews for an abomination, had that been to Egyptians.

33 யோசேப்புக்கு முன்பாக மூத்தவன் தொடங்கி இளையவன் வரைக்கும் அவர்கள் வயதின்படியே பந்தியில் அமர்த்தப்பட்டார்கள்: யோசேப்பின் சகோதரர் அதைக்குறித்து ஆச்சரியப்பட்டு, ஒருவரையொருவர் பார்த்தார்கள்.

So they took their seats before him, the firstborn, according to his birthright and the youngest, according to his youth, —and the men looked with amazement, each one at his companion.

34 யோசேப்பின் மேஜையிலிருந்து அவர்களுக்கு உணவு பரிமாறப்பட்டபோது, மற்றவர்களுடைய பங்குகளைப் பார்க்கிலும் பென்யமீனின் பங்கு ஐந்து மடங்கு அதிகமாக இருந்தது. அவர்கள் யோசேப்புடன் தாராளமாக விருந்துண்டு குடித்தார்கள்.

And he sent portions from before him unto them, and the portion of Benjamin exceeded the portions of them all, five-fold. And they drank and made merry with him.
