ஆதியாகமம் 37
1 யாக்கோபு தன் தகப்பன் தங்கியிருந்த கானான் நாட்டிற்குத் திரும்பவும் வந்து அங்கே வாழ்ந்தான்.
And Jacob lived in the land where his father sojourned, in the land of Chanaan.
2 யாக்கோபின் வம்சவரலாறு இதுவே: யோசேப்பு பதினேழு வயது வாலிபனாய் இருந்தபோது, தன் தகப்பனின் மனைவிகளான பில்காள், சில்பாள் ஆகியோரின் மகன்களாகிய தனது சகோதரருடன் மந்தை மேய்ப்பது வழக்கம். அவர்களின் கெட்டசெயல்களைப் பற்றி யோசேப்பு தன் தகப்பனுக்கு அறிவித்தான்.
And these are the generations of Jacob. And Joseph was seventeen years old, feeding the sheep of his father with his brethren, being young; with the sons of Balla, and with the sons of Zelpha, the wives of his father; and Joseph brought to Israel their father their evil reproach.
3 இஸ்ரயேல் வயது முதிர்ந்தவனாய் இருக்கையில் யோசேப்பு தனக்குப் பிறந்ததினால், அவனைத் தன் மற்ற மகன்களைவிட அதிகமாக நேசித்தான்; இதனால் சிறப்பாக அலங்கரிக்கப்பட்ட ஒரு மேலுடையை அவனுக்காக செய்வித்தான்.
And Jacob loved Joseph more than all his sons, because he was to him the son of old age; and he made for him a coat of many colors.
4 தங்கள் தகப்பன் தங்களைப்பார்க்கிலும் யோசேப்பை அதிகமாக நேசித்ததை அவன் சகோதரர் கண்டார்கள்; அதனால் அவர்கள் அவனுடன் தயவாய்ப் பேசாமல் அவனை வெறுத்தார்கள்.
And his brethren having seen that his father loved him more than all his sons, hated him, and could not speak anything peaceful to him.
5 யோசேப்பு ஒரு கனவு கண்டான், அதை அவன் தன் சகோதரருக்குச் சொன்னபோது, அவர்கள் அவனை இன்னும் அதிகமாக வெறுத்தார்கள்.
And Joseph dreamed a dream, and reported it to his brethren.
6 அவன் தன் சகோதரரிடம், “நான் கண்ட கனவைக் கேளுங்கள்:
And he said to them, Hear this dream which I have dreamed.
7 நாம் வயலில் அறுவடை செய்த கதிர்களைக் கட்டிக்கொண்டிருந்தோம், அப்பொழுது திடீரென எனது கதிர்க்கட்டு எழுந்து நிமிர்ந்து நின்றது; அந்நேரம் உங்கள் கதிர்க்கட்டுகள் என் கதிர்க்கட்டைச் சுற்றி நின்று குனிந்து வணங்கின” என்றான்.
I thought you were binding sheaves in the middle of the field, and my sheaf stood up and was erected, and your sheaves turned round, and did obeisance to my sheaf.
8 அப்பொழுது அவன் சகோதரர் அவனிடம், “நீ எங்கள்மேல் ஆளுகைசெய்ய எண்ணம் கொண்டிருக்கிறாயோ? நீ உண்மையாகவே எங்களை ஆளப்போகிறாயோ?” என்று கேட்டார்கள். அவர்கள் அவனுடைய கனவின் நிமித்தமும், அவன் சொன்னவற்றின் நிமித்தமும் அவனை மேலும் வெறுத்தார்கள்.
And his brethren said to him, Shall you indeed reign over us, or shall you indeed be lord over us? And they hated him still more for his dreams and for his words.
9 யோசேப்பு இன்னுமொரு கனவு கண்டான், அதையும் அவன் தன் சகோதரரிடம் சொன்னான். “கேளுங்கள், நான் இன்னுமொரு கனவு கண்டேன்; இம்முறை சூரியனும், சந்திரனும், பதினோரு நட்சத்திரங்களும் என்னைக் குனிந்து வணங்கின” என்றான்.
And he dreamed another dream, and related it to his father, and to his brethren, and said, Behold, I have dreamed another dream: as it were the sun, and the moon, and the eleven stars did me reverence.
10 இதை அவன் தன் தகப்பனுக்கும், தனது சகோதரருக்கும் சொன்னான். அப்பொழுது அவனுடைய தகப்பன், “நீ என்ன கனவு கண்டிருக்கிறாய்? உன் தாயும் நானும் உன் சகோதரரும் உனக்கு முன்பாக தரையில் வீழ்ந்து உன்னை வணங்குவோம் என்று நினைக்கிறாயா?” என்று அவனைக் கடிந்துகொண்டான்.
And his father rebuked him, and said to him, What is this dream which you have dreamed? shall indeed both I and your mother and your brethren come and bow before you to the earth?
11 அவன் சகோதரர் அவன்மீது பொறாமை கொண்டார்கள், அவன் தகப்பனோ அவன் சொன்னதை மனதில் வைத்துக்கொண்டான்.
And his brethren envied him; but his father observed the saying.
12 யோசேப்பின் சகோதரர் தங்கள் தகப்பனின் மந்தையை மேய்ப்பதற்காகச் சீகேமுக்கு அருகே போயிருந்தார்கள்;
And his brethren went to feed the sheep of their father to Sychem.
13 அப்பொழுது இஸ்ரயேல் யோசேப்பிடம், “உன் சகோதரர் சீகேமுக்கு அருகே மந்தை மேய்த்துக் கொண்டிருப்பது உனக்குத் தெரியும்தானே, வா இப்பொழுது நான் உன்னை அவர்களிடத்திற்கு அனுப்பப்போகிறேன்” என்றான். அதற்கு அவன், “நல்லது, நான் போகிறேன்” என்றான்.
And Israel said to Joseph, Do not your brethren feed their flock in Sychem? Come, I will send you to them; and he said to him, Behold, I [am here].
14 எனவே, அவன் யோசேப்பிடம், “நீ போய் உன் சகோதரர் நலமாயிருக்கிறார்களா என்றும், மந்தைகள் எப்படியிருக்கின்றன என்றும் பார்த்து எனக்கு வந்து சொல்” என்றான். அப்படியே யோசேப்பை எப்ரோன் பள்ளத்தாக்கிலிருந்து வழியனுப்பினான். யோசேப்பு சீகேமுக்கு வந்துபோது,
And Israel said to him, Go and see if your brethren and the sheep are well, and bring me word; and he sent him out of the valley of Chebron, and he came to Sychem.
15 அவன் வயல்வெளியில் அலைந்து கொண்டிருப்பதை ஒரு மனிதன் கண்டு, “நீ என்ன தேடுகிறாய்?” என்று அவனிடம் கேட்டான்.
And a man found him wandering in the field; and the man asked him, saying, What seek you?
16 அதற்கு யோசேப்பு, “நான் என் சகோதரரைத் தேடுகிறேன். அவர்கள் எங்கே மந்தை மேய்த்துக் கொண்டிருக்கிறார்கள் என்று உம்மால் சொல்லமுடியுமா?” என்று கேட்டான்.
And he said, I am seeking my brethren; tell me where they feed [their flocks].
17 அதற்கு அவன், “அவர்கள் இவ்விடத்திலிருந்து போய்விட்டார்கள், ‘தோத்தானுக்குப் போவோம்’ என்று அவர்கள் பேசிக்கொண்டதை நான் கேட்டேன்” என்றான். யோசேப்பு தன் சகோதரரைத் தேடிச்சென்று, தோத்தானுக்கு அருகே அவர்களைக் கண்டான்.
And the man said to him, They have departed hence, for I heard them saying, Let us go to Dothaim; and Joseph went after his brethren, and found them in Dothaim.
18 ஆனால் அவர்களோ, அவனைத் தூரத்திலேயே கண்டார்கள், அவன் அவர்கள் அருகே வருவதற்கு முன்பு அவர்கள் அவனைக் கொல்வதற்குச் சதித்திட்டம் போட்டார்கள்.
And they spied him from a distance before he drew near to them, and they wickedly took counsel to kill him.
19 அவர்கள், “இதோ, கனவுக்காரன் வருகிறான்!” என்று ஒருவருக்கொருவர் சொல்லிக்கொண்டார்கள்.
And each said to his brother, Behold, that dreamer comes.
20 அவர்கள், “வாருங்கள், இப்பொழுது அவனைக் கொன்று, இங்குள்ள குழிகள் ஒன்றில் போட்டுவிடுவோம்; கொடிய மிருகம் அவனைத் தின்றுவிட்டது என்று சொல்வோம். அதன்பின் அவனுடைய கனவுகள் எப்படி நிறைவேறுமென்று பார்ப்போம்” என்றார்கள்.
Now then come, let us kill him, and cast him into one of the pits; and we will say, An evil wild beast has devoured him; and we shall see what his dreams will be.
21 ரூபன் அதைக் கேட்டபோது, அவனை அவர்களுடைய கைகளிலிருந்து தப்புவிக்க முயற்சித்தான். அவன், “நாம் அவனைக் கொல்லாமல் விடுவோம்.
And Ruben having heard it, rescued him out of their hands, and said, Let us not kill him.
22 நீங்கள் இரத்தத்தைச் சிந்தாமல் காடுகளிலுள்ள இந்தக் கிணற்றில் அவனைப் போட்டுவிடுவோம், அவன்மேல் கைவைக்க வேண்டாம்” என்றான். யோசேப்பை அவர்களிடமிருந்து தப்புவித்துத் தன் தகப்பனிடத்திற்கு மறுபடியும் கூட்டிச்செல்லவே ரூபன் அவ்வாறு சொன்னான்.
And Ruben said to them, Shed not blood; cast him into one of these pits in the wilderness, but do not lay [your] hands upon him; that he might rescue him out of their hands, and restore him to his father.
23 யோசேப்பு தன் சகோதரரிடம் வந்தவுடனே அவர்கள் அவன் அணிந்திருந்த, சிறப்பாக அலங்கரிக்கப்பட்ட அங்கியை உரிந்து போட்டார்கள்.
And it came to pass, when Joseph came to his brethren, that they stripped Joseph of his many-coloured coat that was upon him.
24 அவர்கள் அவனைத் தூக்கி, அங்கே இருந்த கிணற்றிலே போட்டார்கள். அப்பொழுது அந்தக் கிணறு தண்ணீர் இல்லாமல் வெறுமையாயிருந்தது.
And they took him and cast him into the pit; and the pit was empty, it had not water.
25 பின்பு அவர்கள் சாப்பிட உட்கார்ந்தார்கள், அவர்கள் நிமிர்ந்து பார்த்தபோது, இஸ்மயேலரின் வியாபாரிகளின் கூட்டமொன்று கீலேயாத்திலிருந்து வந்துகொண்டிருந்ததைக் கண்டார்கள். அவர்களுடைய ஒட்டகங்களிலே வாசனைப் பொருட்களும், தைல வகைகளும், வெள்ளைப்போளமும் ஏற்றப்பட்டிருந்தன. அவர்கள் அவற்றை எகிப்திற்குக் கொண்டுசெல்லும்படி பயணம் செய்துகொண்டிருந்தார்கள்.
And they sat down to eat bread; and having lifted up their eyes they saw, and behold, Ismaelitish travellers came from Galaad, and their camels were heavily loaded with spices, and resin, and myrrh; and they went to bring them to Egypt.
26 அப்பொழுது யூதா தன் சகோதரரிடம், “நம்முடைய சகோதரனைக் கொன்று, அவனுடைய இரத்தத்தை மறைப்பதினால் நமக்கு என்ன லாபம்?
And Judas said to his brethren, What profit is it if we kill our brother, and conceal his blood?
27 வாருங்கள், அவன்மேல் நமது கையை வைக்காமல், அவனை இந்த இஸ்மயேலருக்கு விற்போம்; எப்படியும் அவன் நம்முடைய சகோதரனும், நமது சொந்த இரத்தமுமாய் இருக்கிறானே” என்றான். அதற்கு அவன் சகோதரர்கள் சம்மதித்தார்கள்.
Come, let us sell him to these Ismaelites, but let not our hands be upon him, because he is our brother and our flesh; and his brethren listened.
28 மீதியான் நாட்டு இஸ்மயேல் வியாபாரிகள் அங்கே வந்தபோது, யோசேப்பின் சகோதரர், கிணற்றிலிருந்து அவனை வெளியே எடுத்து, இருபது சேக்கல் வெள்ளிக்கு இஸ்மயேலரிடம் அவனை விற்றார்கள், அவர்கள் யோசேப்பை எகிப்திற்குக் கொண்டுபோனார்கள்.
And the men, the merchants of Madian, went by, and they drew and lifted Joseph out of the pit, and sold Joseph to the Ismaelites for twenty pieces of gold; and they brought Joseph down into Egypt.
29 ரூபன் அந்தக் கிணற்றுக்குத் திரும்பிப்போய், யோசேப்பு அங்கே இல்லை என்பதைக் கண்டு, அவன் தன் உடைகளைக் கிழித்துக்கொண்டான்.
And Ruben returned to the pit, and sees not Joseph in the pit; and he tore his garments.
30 அவன் தன் சகோதரரிடம் திரும்பிப்போய், “யோசேப்பு அங்கே இல்லையே! நான் எங்கே போய் தேடுவேன்?” என்றான்.
And he returned to his brethren and said, The boy is not; and I, whither am I yet to go?
31 பின்பு அவர்கள் ஒரு வெள்ளாட்டை வெட்டி, அதன் இரத்தத்தில் யோசேப்பின் மேலுடையைத் தோய்த்தார்கள்.
And having taken the coat of Joseph, they killed a kid of the goats, and stained the coat with the blood.
32 அலங்கரிக்கப்பட்ட அந்த மேலுடையைத் தங்கள் தகப்பனிடம் கொண்டுபோய், “இந்த உடையை நாங்கள் வழியில் கண்டெடுத்தோம். இது உமது மகனுடையதா என்று பாரும்” என்றார்கள்.
And they sent the coat of many colors; and they brought it to their father, and said, This have we found; know if it be your son's coat or no. And he recognized it, and said, It is my son's coat, an evil wild beast has devoured him; a wild beast has carried off Joseph.
33 யாக்கோபு அதைக்கண்டு, “இது என் மகனுடைய மேலுடைதான்! ஏதோ ஒரு கொடிய மிருகம் அவனைக் கொன்று தின்றிருக்க வேண்டும், யோசேப்பு நிச்சயமாகத் துண்டுதுண்டாகக் கிழிக்கப்பட்டிருப்பான்” என்றான்.
34 யாக்கோபு தன் உடையைக் கிழித்து, துக்கவுடை உடுத்தி, தன் மகனுக்காகப் பல நாட்கள் துக்கமாயிருந்தான்.
And Jacob tore his clothes, and put sackcloth on his loins, and mourned for his son many days.
35 அவனுடைய மகன்கள், மகள்கள் எல்லோருமே அவனுக்கு ஆறுதல் சொல்ல வந்தார்கள். ஆனால் அவனோ ஆறுதலடைய மறுத்து, “இல்லை, நான் என் மகனிடத்தில் கல்லறையில் சேரும்வரை துக்கித்துக் கொண்டேயிருப்பேன்” என்றான். இவ்வாறாக அவனுடைய தகப்பன் அவனுக்காக அழுது புலம்பினான். (Sheol h7585)
And all his sons and his daughters gathered themselves together, and came to comfort him; but he would not be comforted, saying, I will go down to my son mourning to Hades; and his father wept for him. (Sheol h7585)
36 இதற்கிடையில், மீதியானிய வியாபாரிகள் எகிப்திலே பார்வோனின் அலுவலர்களில் ஒருவனும், மெய்க்காவலர் தலைவனுமான போத்திபாருக்கு யோசேப்பை விற்றார்கள்.
And the Madianites sold Joseph into Egypt; to Petephres, the eunuch of Pharao, captain of the guard.
