எஸ்றா 5

1 அதன்பின் இறைவாக்கினன் ஆகாயும், இத்தோவின் மகனான இறைவாக்கினன் சகரியாவும், யூதாவிலும் எருசலேமிலும் உள்ள யூதர்களுக்கு தங்களுக்கு மேலாய் இருந்த இஸ்ரயேலரின் இறைவனின் பெயரால் இறைவாக்கு உரைத்தனர்.

Then the prophets, Haggai the prophet, and Zechariah the son of Iddo, prophesied to the Jews that [were] in Judah and Jerusalem in the name of the God of Israel, [even] to them.

2 அப்பொழுது செயல்தியேலின் மகன் செருபாபேலும், யோசதாக்கின் மகன் யெசுவாவும் எருசலேமில் இறைவனின் ஆலயத்தைத் திரும்பவும் கட்டத்தொடங்கினர். இறைவனின் இறைவாக்கினர்களும் அவர்களுடனிருந்து அவர்களுக்கு உதவிசெய்தனர்.

Then rose up Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, and Jeshua the son of Jozadak, and began to build the house of God which [is] at Jerusalem: and with them [were] the prophets of God helping them.

3 அக்காலத்தில் ஐபிராத்து மறுகரையில் ஆளுநனாய் இருந்த தத்னாயும், சேத்தார்பொஸ்னாயும், அவர்களுடைய நண்பர்களும் இவர்களிடம் வந்து, “இந்த ஆலயத்தைத் திரும்பக் கட்டவும், இந்தக் கட்டிடத்தைத் திரும்பவும் செய்து முடிக்கவும் உங்களுக்கு அதிகாரம் கொடுத்தது யார்?” எனக் கேட்டனர்.

At the same time came to them Tatnai, governor on this side of the river, and Shethar-boznai, and their companions, and said thus to them, Who hath commanded you to build this house, and to make up this wall?

4 அத்துடன், “இதைக் கட்டுகிற மனிதர்களின் பெயர்கள் என்ன?” எனவும் கேட்டனர்.

Then said we to them after this manner, What are the names of the men that make this building?

5 ஆனால் இறைவனின் கண் யூதரின் முதியவர்கள்மேல் இருந்தது. தரியு அரசனுக்கு இதைக்குறித்து அறிவிக்கப்பட்டு அவனிடமிருந்து எழுத்துமூலம் பதில் வரும்வரை அவர்களுடைய வேலை நிறுத்தப்படவில்லை.

But the eye of their God was upon the elders of the Jews, that they could not cause them to cease, till the matter came to Darius: and then they returned answer by letter concerning this [matter].

6 ஐபிராத்து நதிக்கு அக்கரையில் ஆளுநராய் இருந்த தத்னாவும், சேத்தார்பொஸ்னாயும், அவர்கள் கூட்டாளிகளான ஐபிராத்து நதியின் மறுகரையிலுள்ள அதிகாரிகளும் தரியு அரசனுக்கு எழுதிய கடிதத்தின் பிரதி இதுவே:

The copy of the letter that Tatnai, governor on this side of the river, and Shethar-boznai, and his companions the Apharsachites, who [were] on this side of the river, sent to Darius the king:

7 அவர்கள் அவனுக்கு அனுப்பிய அறிக்கையின் விபரமாவது: தரியு அரசனுக்கு மனமார்ந்த வாழ்த்துகள்.

They sent a letter to him, in which was written thus; To Darius the king, all peace.

8 நாங்கள் யூதா மாவட்டத்திலுள்ள மேன்மையுள்ள இறைவனின் ஆலயத்துக்குப் போனோம் என்பதை அரசன் தெரிந்திருக்க வேண்டும். அந்த மக்கள் அதைப் பெரிய கற்களினால் கட்டி மரத்தாலான உத்திரங்களையும் சுவர்களின்மேல் வைக்கிறார்கள். அந்த வேலை மிகக் கவனத்துடனும், துரிதமாகவும் செய்யப்பட்டு வருகிறது.

Be it known to the king, that we went into the province of Judea, to the house of the great God, which is built with great stones, and timber is laid in the walls, and this work proceedeth rapidly, and prospereth in their hands.

9 அதனால் நாங்கள் அங்குள்ள முதியவர்களிடம் விசாரித்து அவர்களிடம், “இந்த ஆலயக் கட்டிடத்தை திரும்பக் கட்டவும், இந்தக் கட்டட அமைப்பைப் புதுப்பிக்கவும் உங்களுக்கு அதிகாரம் கொடுத்தது யார்?” எனக் கேட்டோம்.

Then we asked those elders, [and] said to them thus, Who commanded you to build this house, and to erect these walls?

10 அத்துடன் நாங்கள் உமக்கு அறிவிக்கும் நோக்கத்துடன் முதியவர்களின் பெயர்களைக் கேட்டு எழுதினோம்.

We asked their names also, to certify thee, that we might write the names of the men that [were] the chief of them.

11 அவர்கள் எங்களுக்குப் பதிலுரைத்து: “நாங்கள் வானத்துக்கும், பூமிக்கும் இறைவனாய் இருப்பவரின் ஊழியர்கள். பல வருடங்களுக்கு முன் கட்டப்பட்ட ஒரு ஆலயத்தையே நாங்கள் திரும்பவும் கட்டிக்கொண்டிருக்கிறோம். அதை இஸ்ரயேலின் ஒரு பெரிய அரசன் கட்டி முடித்திருந்தான்.

And thus they returned us answer, saying, We are the servants of the God of heaven and earth, and build the house that was erected these many years ago, which a great king of Israel built and set up.

12 எங்களுடைய முற்பிதாக்கள் பரலோகத்தின் இறைவனுக்குக் கோபமூட்டினதால், அவர் இவர்களை பாபிலோன் அரசனான கல்தேயனாகிய நேபுகாத்நேச்சாரின் கையில் ஒப்புக்கொடுத்தார். எனவே அவன் இந்த ஆலயத்தை அழித்து மக்களை பாபிலோனுக்கு நாடுகடத்தினான்.

But after that our fathers had provoked the God of heaven to wrath, he gave them into the hand of Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon, the Chaldean, who destroyed this house, and carried the people away into Babylon.

13 “ஆனாலும் பாபிலோன் அரசன் கோரேஸின் முதலாம் வருடத்தில், இறைவனின் ஆலயத்தைத் திரும்பக் கட்டும்படி கோரேஸ் ஒரு கட்டளை பிறப்பித்தான்.

But in the first year of Cyrus the king of Babylon, [the same] king Cyrus made a decree to build this house of God.

14 அத்துடன் நேபுகாத்நேச்சார் அரசன் எருசலேமிலுள்ள ஆலயத்தில் இருந்து எடுத்துச்சென்று, பாபிலோனிலுள்ள கோயிலுக்குள் கொண்டுபோய் வைத்திருந்த தங்கத்தினாலும் வெள்ளியினாலுமான பொருட்களை, கோரேஸ் அரசன் பாபிலோனின் கோயிலிலிருந்து எடுத்தான். பின்பு அவற்றை அரசன் தான் ஆளுநனாக நியமித்திருந்த சேஸ்பாத்சார் என்பவனிடம் கொடுத்தான்.

And the vessels also of gold and silver of the house of God, which Nebuchadnezzar took out of the temple that [was] in Jerusalem, and brought them into the temple of Babylon, those did Cyrus the king take out of the temple of Babylon, and they were delivered to [one], whose name [was] Sheshbazzar, whom he had made governor;

15 கோரேஸ் அரசன் அவனிடம், ‘இப்பொருட்களை நீ எருசலேமிலுள்ள ஆலயத்தில் கொண்டுபோய் வை. அவ்விடத்திலேயே இறைவனுடைய ஆலயத்தைத் திரும்பவும் கட்டு’ எனச் சொன்னான்.

And said to him, Take these vessels, go, carry them into the temple that [is] in Jerusalem, and let the house of God be built in its place.

16 “எனவே சேஸ்பாத்சார் வந்து எருசலேமில் இறைவனின் ஆலயத்துக்கு அஸ்திபாரம் போட்டான். அந்த நாள் முதல் இன்றுவரை அது கட்டப்பட்டுக் கொண்டிருக்கிறது. எனினும் இன்னும் முடிவடையவில்லை” என்றார்கள்.

Then came the same Sheshbazzar, [and] laid the foundation of the house of God which [is] in Jerusalem: and since that time even until now hath it been in building, and [yet] it is not finished.

17 “ஆகையால் இப்பொழுதும் அரசனுக்கு மனவிருப்பமிருந்தால், பாபிலோனிலுள்ள அரச பதிவேட்டுச் சுவடிகளை ஆராய்ந்து பார்க்கட்டும். எருசலேமில் இறைவனின் ஆலயத்தைத் திரும்பவும் கட்டும்படி, கோரேஸ் அரசன் உண்மையாக ஒரு கட்டளையை பிறப்பித்தாரோ என்று தேடிப் பார்க்கட்டும். பின்பு அரசன் இந்தக் காரியத்தில் தீர்மானத்தை எங்களுக்கும் அனுப்பட்டும்” என்றார்கள்.

Now therefore, if it [seemeth] good to the king, let there be search made in the king's treasure-house, which [is] there at Babylon, whether it is [so], that a decree was made by Cyrus the king to build this house of God at Jerusalem, and let the king send his pleasure to us concerning this matter.
