எஸ்தர் 4
1 இவைகளை எல்லாம் மொர்தெகாய் அறிந்தபோது, அவன் தனது உடைகளைக் கிழித்து, துக்கவுடை உடுத்தி, சாம்பல் போட்டுக்கொண்டு பட்டணத்தின் நடுப்பகுதிக்குப் போனான். போகும்போது, மனங்கசந்து அழுது சத்தமாய் புலம்பிக்கொண்டு போனான்.
When Mordecai learned all that had been done, he tore his clothes and put on sackcloth and strewed ashes on his head, and went out into the city and raised a loud and bitter cry of lamentation.
2 ஆயினும் அவன், அரச வாசல் வரைக்குமே போனான். ஏனெனில் துக்கவுடை உடுத்திய எவனும் உள்ளே போக அனுமதிக்கப்படுவதில்லை.
He went as far as the king’s gate, but no one could enter the gate clothed with sackcloth.
3 கட்டளையும், அரசனின் உத்தரவும் போயிருந்த ஒவ்வொரு மாகாணத்திலும் யூதர்கள் மத்தியில் பெரிய துக்கம் ஏற்பட்டது. அவர்கள் உபவாசித்து, அழுது புலம்பிக் கொண்டிருந்தார்கள். அநேகர் துக்கவுடை உடுத்தி சாம்பலில் கிடந்தார்கள்.
In every province, wherever the king’s command and decree went, there was great mourning, fasting, weeping, and wailing among the Jews. Many of them sat in sackcloth and ashes.
4 எஸ்தரின் தோழிகளும், பணிவிடைக்காரர்களும் அவளிடம் வந்து மொர்தெகாயைப் பற்றிச் சொன்னபோது, அரசி மிகவும் துக்கமடைந்தாள். அவனுடைய துக்கவுடைக்குப் பதிலாக உடுத்திக்கொள்வதற்கு உடைகளை அவள் அனுப்பியபோது அவன் அவற்றை ஏற்றுக்கொள்ளவில்லை.
When Esther’s maids and attendants told her about Mordecai’s behavior, she was greatly troubled. She sent garments for Mordecai to put on, so that he could take off his sack-cloth, but he would not accept them.
5 அப்பொழுது எஸ்தர், தனது ஏவலாளனாய் இருந்த அரச அதிகாரிகளில் ஒருவனான ஆத்தாகை அழைத்தாள். அவள் மொர்தெகாயின் துக்கம் என்ன என்றும், அதன் காரணம் என்ன என்றும் அறிந்துவர அவனுக்குக் கட்டளையிட்டாள்.
So Esther called Hathach, one of the king’s eunuchs whom he had appointed to attend her, and ordered him to go to Mordecai to learn what it all meant and the reason for it.
6 அப்படியே ஆத்தாகு அரச வாசலுக்கு முன்பாகவுள்ள நகரத்தின் திறந்த சதுக்கத்தில் இருந்த மொர்தெகாயிடம் போனான்.
So Hathach went out to Mordecai, to the city square in front of the king’s gate.
7 மொர்தெகாய் தனக்கு நிகழ்ந்த எல்லாவற்றையும் அவனிடம் சொன்னான். அத்துடன் யூதர்களை அழிப்பதற்காக அரச திரவிய களஞ்சியத்திற்கு ஆமான் கொடுப்பதாகச் சொன்ன பணத்தின் சரியான தொகையையும் அறிவித்தான்.
Mordecai told him all that had happened to him and the exact amount of money that Haman had promised to pay into the king’s treasury for the destruction of the Jews.
8 அத்துடன் எஸ்தருக்குக் காண்பித்து விளக்கும்படி, சூசானில் வெளியிடப்பட்டிருந்த யூதர்களை ஒழிப்பதற்கான கட்டளையின் ஒரு பிரதியையும் கொடுத்தான். அரசனின் முன்னிலையில் எஸ்தர் போய், இரக்கத்திற்காக மன்றாடி, தனது மக்களுக்காகக் கெஞ்சும்படி அவளைத் தூண்டவேண்டுமென்று மொர்தெகாய் அவனுக்குச் சொன்னான்.
Also he gave him a copy of the decree to destroy them, that had been published in Susa, to show to Esther for her information. He also told her to go to the king and implore his mercy and to plead with him in behalf of her people.
9 ஆத்தாகு திரும்பிப்போய் மொர்தெகாய் சொன்னதை எஸ்தருக்கு அறிவித்தான்.
When Hathach came and told Esther what Mordecai had said,
10 அப்பொழுது எஸ்தர் ஆத்தாகுவிடம், மொர்தெகாயினிடத்தில் போய்ச் சொல்லும்படி அறிவுறுத்திச் சொன்னதாவது:
she instructed Hathach to go and say to Mordecai,
11 “அரசனால் அழைக்கப்படாமல் அவருடைய உள் மண்டபத்துக்குள் அவரை நெருங்கி வருகிற, எந்த ஆணையோ பெண்ணையோ குறித்து, அரச சட்டம் ஒன்று உண்டு. அப்படி நெருங்கி வருகிற அந்த ஆள் கொல்லப்படவேண்டும் என்பதே அந்தச் சட்டம். அரசரின் எல்லா அதிகாரிகளும் அரசருடைய மாகாணத்திலுள்ள மக்களும் இதை அறிவார்கள். அரசன் தனது தங்கச் செங்கோலை அந்த ஆளிடம் நீட்டி, அவனுடைய உயிரைத் தப்புவித்தால் மட்டுமே அந்த ஆள் இந்தச் சட்டத்திலிருந்து விலக்கப்படுவான். நானோ அரசனிடம் போகும்படி அழைக்கப்பட்டு முப்பது நாட்கள் ஆகிவிட்டன” என்றாள்.
“All the king’s courtiers and the people of the king’s provinces know that for every man or woman who goes to the king into the inner court without being called there is one penalty, death, unless the king holds out the golden sceptre signifying that they may live. It has been thirty days since I have been called to go in to the king.”
12 எஸ்தரின் வார்த்தைகள் மொர்தெகாய்க்கு அறிவிக்கப்பட்டபோது,
When Mordecai was told what Esther had said,
13 மொர்தெகாய் ஆத்தாகுவிடம் சொல்லியனுப்பிய மறுமொழியாவது: “நீ அரசரின் வீட்டில் இருப்பதால், எல்லா யூதர்களிலுமிருந்து நீ மட்டும் தப்பிக்கொள்வாய் என்று எண்ணாதே.
he sent back this reply to Esther, “Don’t imagine that you alone of all the Jews will escape because you belong to the king’s household.
14 நீ இந்தக் காலத்தில் மவுனமாய் இருந்தால், யூதருக்கு விடுதலையும், மீட்பும் இன்னொரு இடத்திலிருந்து வரும். ஆனால் நீயும் உன் தகப்பன் குடும்பத்தாரும் அழிவீர்கள். இப்படிப்பட்ட ஒரு காலத்திற்காகத்தான், நீ அரச பதவிக்கு வந்திருக்கிறாயோ என்று யாருக்குத் தெரியும்.”
If you persist in remaining silent at this time, relief and deliverance will come to the Jews from another quarter, but you and your family will perish. Who knows? Maybe you have been raised to the throne for a time like this!”
15 அப்பொழுது எஸ்தர் மொர்தெகாய்க்கு மறுபடியும்,
Then Esther sent this message to Mordecai:
16 “நீர் போய் சூசானிலுள்ள எல்லா யூதர்களையும் ஒன்றுகூட்டி எனக்காக உபவாசம் பண்ணும். இரவும் பகலுமாக மூன்று நாட்களுக்கு எதையும் சாப்பிடவோ, குடிக்கவோ வேண்டாம். உங்களோடு நானும் எனது தோழிகளும் உபவாசம் பண்ணுவோம். இதைச் செய்து முடித்தபின் சட்டத்திற்கு எதிராய் இருந்தாலும் நான் அரசனிடம் போவேன். நான் அழிவதானால் அழிவேன்” என்று சொன்னாள்.
“Go, gather all the Jews in Susa and fast for me. Don’t eat nor drink anything for three days and nights. My maids and I will fast as well. Then I will go in to the king, although it is contrary to the law, and if I die, I die.”
17 அப்படியே மொர்தெகாய் புறப்பட்டுப்போய், எஸ்தரின் அறிவுறுத்தலின்படியெல்லாம் செய்துமுடித்தான்.
Mordecai did everything Esther had directed.
