எஸ்தர் 3

1 இவைகளுக்குப்பின் ஆகாகியனான அம்மெதாத்தாவின் மகன் ஆமானை, அகாஸ்வேரு அரசன் கனப்படுத்தி, மற்ற எல்லா உயர்குடி மக்களைவிடவும் உயர்ந்த பதவியை அவனுக்குக் கொடுத்தான்.

And after this king Artaxerxes highly honored Aman [son] of Amadathes, the Bugaean, and exalted him, and set his seat above all his friends.

2 அரச வாசலில் இருந்த அரச அதிகாரிகள் எல்லோரும், ஆமானுக்கு முழங்காற்படியிட்டு மரியாதை செலுத்தினார்கள். ஏனெனில், அரசன் அவனைக்குறித்து இவ்விதமாய்க் கட்டளையிட்டிருந்தான். ஆனால் மொர்தெகாய் முழங்காற்படியிடவும் இல்லை, அவனுக்கு மரியாதை செலுத்தவும் இல்லை.

And all in the palace did him obeisance, for so the king had given orders to do: but Mardochaeus did not do him obeisance.

3 அப்பொழுது அரச வாசலில் இருந்த அரசனின் அதிகாரிகள் மொர்தெகாயிடம், “நீ ஏன் அரசனின் கட்டளைக்குக் கீழ்ப்படியவில்லை?” என்று கேட்டார்கள்.

And they in the king's palace said to Mardochaeus, Mardochaeus, why do you transgress the commands of the king?

4 நாள்தோறும் அவர்கள் அவனுடன் இப்படிப் பேசினார்கள். ஆனால் அவனோ கேட்க மறுத்துவிட்டான். மொர்தெகாய் தன்னை ஒரு யூதன் என்று அவர்களுக்குச் சொல்லியிருந்ததால், அவனுடைய நடவடிக்கை சகித்துக்கொள்ளக்கூடியதோ என்று பார்ப்பதற்கு, அந்த அதிகாரிகள் இதைப்பற்றி ஆமானுக்குச் சொன்னார்கள்.

[Thus] they spoke daily to him, but he listened not to them; so they represented to Aman that Mardochaeus resisted the commands of the king: and Mardochaeus had shown to them that he was a Jew.

5 மொர்தெகாய் முழங்காற்படியிடாததையும், தன்னைக் கனப்படுத்தாதையும் ஆமான் கண்டபோது, அவன் கோபமடைந்தான்.

And when Aman understood that Mardochaeus did not obeisance to him, he was greatly enraged,

6 ஆயினும், மொர்தெகாய் எந்த நாட்டைச் சேர்ந்தவனென்று அறிந்ததினால் அவனை மட்டும் கொல்ல அவன் விரும்பவில்லை. அதற்குப் பதிலாக அகாஸ்வேருவின் அரசு முழுவதும் இருந்த மொர்தெகாயின் மக்களான எல்லா யூதர்களையும் அழிப்பதற்கே ஆமான் வழிதேடினான்.

and took counsel to destroy utterly all the Jews who were under the rule of Artaxerxes.

7 அகாஸ்வேரு அரசனின் ஆட்சியின் பன்னிரண்டாம் வருடத்தின் முதலாம் மாதமாகிய நிசான் மாதத்திலே, யூதர்களை அழிப்பதற்கான நாளையும், மாதத்தையும் தெரிவுசெய்வதற்கு ஆமான் முன்னிலையில் பூர் எனப்பட்ட சீட்டைப் போட்டார்கள். பன்னிரண்டாம் மாதமாகிய ஆதார் மாதத்தின்மேல் சீட்டு விழுந்தது.

And he made a decree in the twelfth year of the reign of Artaxerxes, and cast lots daily and monthly, to kill in one day the race of Mardochaeus: and the lot fell on the fourteenth [day] of the month which is Adar.

8 அதன்பின் ஆமான் அகாஸ்வேரு அரசனிடம், “உமது அரசின் எல்லா நாடுகளிலுமுள்ள மக்கள் கூட்டங்களில் சிதறடிக்கப்பட்டு பரந்து வாழ்கின்ற ஒரு குறிப்பிட்ட இனமக்கள் இருக்கிறார்கள். அவர்களுடைய வழக்கங்கள் மற்ற எல்லா மக்களுடைய வழக்கங்களிலுமிருந்து வேறுபட்டவையாக இருக்கின்றன. அவர்கள் அரசரின் சட்டங்களுக்கும் கீழ்ப்படிகிறதில்லை. அவர்களைச் சகித்துக்கொண்டிருப்பது அரசரின் நலனுக்கு உகந்ததல்ல.

And he spoke to king Artaxerxes, saying, There is a nation scattered among the nations in all your kingdom, and their laws differ from [those of] all the [other] nations; and they disobey the laws of the king; and it is not expedient for the king to let them alone.

9 அரசர் விரும்பினால், அவர்களை அழிப்பதற்கு கட்டளையிடட்டும். அவர்களை அழிக்கும் வேலையில் ஈடுபடும் மனிதருக்கென அரச திரவிய களஞ்சியத்திற்கு நானே பத்தாயிரம் தாலந்து வெள்ளிக்காசுகளைக் கொடுக்கிறேன்” என்றான்.

If it seem good to the king, let him make a decree to destroy them: and I will remit into the king's treasury ten thousand talents of silver.

10 எனவே, அரசன் தனது முத்திரை மோதிரத்தைத் தனது விரலில் இருந்து களற்றி யூதர்களின் எதிரியும், ஆகாகியனும், அம்மெதாத்தாவின் மகனுமான ஆமானிடத்தில் கொடுத்தான்.

And the king took off his ring, and gave it into the hands of Aman, to seal the decrees against the Jews.

11 “பணத்தை வைத்துக்கொள்; உனக்கு விரும்பியபடி அந்த மக்களுக்குச் செய்” என்று அரசன் ஆமானிடம் சொன்னான்.

And the king said to Aman, Keep the silver, and treat the nation as you will.

12 பின்பு முதலாம் மாதம் பதிமூன்றாம் நாளில் அரச செயலாளர்கள் அழைக்கப்பட்டார்கள்; அவர்கள், ஒவ்வொரு மாகாணத்துக்குரிய எழுத்திலும், ஒவ்வொரு மக்களின் மொழியிலும், ஆமானின் கட்டளைகளையெல்லாம் எழுதினார்கள். பின் அரசனின் பிரதிநிதிகளுக்கும், பல்வேறு மாகாணங்களின் ஆளுநர்களுக்கும், பல்வேறு மக்களின் உயர்குடி மக்களுக்கும் இதை அனுப்பினார்கள். இவை அகாஸ்வேரு அரசனின் பெயரிலேயே எழுதப்பட்டு, அவனுடைய சொந்த மோதிரத்தினாலேயே முத்திரையிடப்பட்டன.

So the king's recorders were called in the first month, on the thirteenth [day], and they wrote as Aman commanded to the captains and governors in every province, from India even to Ethiopia, to a hundred and twenty-seven provinces; and to the rulers of the nations according to their [several] languages, in the name of king Artaxerxes.

13 அரசனின் எல்லா மாகாணங்களுக்கும் தூதுவர்கள் மூலம் ஆதார் மாதமாகிய பன்னிரண்டாம் மாதத்தின் பதிமூன்றாம் நாளிலே, எல்லா யூதர்களையும் கொல்லவேண்டுமென கடிதங்கள் அனுப்பப்பட்டன. அதில், இளைஞர், முதியவர், பெண்கள், சிறுபிள்ளைகள் உட்பட எல்லோரையும் ஒரேநாளிலேயே அழிக்கவும், கொல்லவும், நாசமாக்கவும், அவர்களுடைய பொருட்களைக் கொள்ளையிடவும் வேண்டும் என உத்தரவிடப்பட்டிருந்தது.

And [the message] was sent by posts throughout the kingdom of Artaxerxes, to destroy utterly the race of the Jews on the first day of the twelfth month, which is Adar, and to plunder their goods.

14 அந்தக் கட்டளையின் ஒரு பிரதி ஒவ்வொரு மாகாணத்திலும் சட்டமாக வழங்கப்பட இருந்தது. அப்படி வழங்கப்படும்போது, எல்லா நாடுகளும் அந்த நாளுக்கென ஆயத்தமாயிருக்கும்படி அவர்களுக்கு அது அறிவிக்கப்பட வேண்டும் எனவும் திட்டமிடப்பட்டிருந்தது.

And the copies of the letters were published in every province; and an order was given to all the nations to be ready against that day.

15 அரச கட்டளையினால் தூண்டப்பட்டவர்களாய் தூதுவர்கள் புறப்பட்டுப் போனார்கள். சூசான் கோட்டைப் பட்டணத்திலிருந்து கட்டளை வழங்கப்பட்டது. அரசனும் ஆமானும் குடிப்பதற்கு அமர்ந்தார்கள். ஆனால் சூசான் நகரமோ திகைப்பில் ஆழ்ந்திருந்தது.

And the business was hastened, and [that] at Susa: and the king and Aman began to drink; but the city was troubled.
