பிரசங்கி 5
1 இறைவனின் ஆலயத்திற்குச் செல்லும்போது, உன் நடையில் கவனமாய் இரு. மூடரைப் போல பலி செலுத்துவதைவிட, செவிகொடுத்துக் கேட்க அங்கு போ; ஏனெனில் அவர்கள் தாங்கள் செய்கிறது தவறு என்று அறியாதிருக்கிறார்கள்.
Guard your foot, when you step into the house of God, and draw near, so that you may listen. For obedience is much better than the sacrifices of the foolish, who do not know the evil that they are doing.
2 இறைவனுக்குமுன் எதையாவது சொல்வதற்கு உன் இருதயத்தில் அவசரப்பட்டு, உன் வாயை விரைவாய்த் திறவாதே. இறைவன் பரலோகத்தில் இருக்கிறார், நீ பூமியிலிருக்கிறாய்; எனவே உன் வார்த்தைகள் அளவாய் இருக்கட்டும்.
You should not speak anything rashly, nor should your heart be hasty to present a word before God. For God is in heaven, and you are on earth. For this reason, let your words be few.
3 அதிக கவலைகள் மிகுதியாகும்போது, கனவு வருவதுபோல, சொற்கள் மிகுதியானால் மூடத்தனம் வெளிப்படும்.
Dreams follow many worries, and in many words foolishness will be found.
4 இறைவனுக்கு நீ நேர்ந்ததை நிறைவேற்றத் தாமதியாதே. இறைவன் மூடரில் பிரியமாயிருப்பதில்லை; உனது நேர்த்திக்கடனை நிறைவேற்று.
If you have vowed anything to God, you should not delay to repay it. And whatever you have vowed, render it. But an unfaithful and foolish promise displeases him.
5 நேர்த்திக்கடனைச் செய்து, அதை நிறைவேற்றாமல் விடுவதைவிட, நேர்த்திக்கடன் செய்யாமல் இருப்பது மிக நல்லது.
And it is much better not to make a vow, than, after a vow, not to fulfill what was promised.
6 உன்னை பாவத்திற்குள் வழிநடத்த உன் வாய்க்கு இடங்கொடாதே. ஆலய தூதனுக்கு முன்பாக, “எனது நேர்த்திக்கடன் தவறுதலாகச் செய்யப்பட்டது” என்று மறுத்துச் சொல்லாதே. இறைவன் நீ சொல்வதைக் கேட்டு கோபப்பட்டு, அவர் உன் கையின் வேலையை ஏன் அழித்துப் போடவேண்டும்?
You should not use your mouth so as to cause your flesh to sin. And you should not say, in the sight of an Angel, “There is no Providence.” For God, being angry at your words, may scatter all the works of your hands.
7 அதிக கனவும், அதிக வார்த்தைகளும் அர்த்தமற்றவை. எனவே இறைவனுக்குமுன் பயந்திரு.
Where there are many dreams, there are many vanities and innumerable words. Yet truly, you must fear God.
8 எந்த மாகாணத்திலாவது ஏழைகள் ஒடுக்கப்படுவதையும், நீதியும் உரிமைகளும் மறுக்கப்படுவதையும் நீ கண்டால், அதைக்குறித்து ஆச்சரியப்படாதே; ஏனெனில் ஒரு அதிகாரியை ஒடுக்கி ஆதாயம் பெற அவனுக்கு மேற்பட்ட அதிகாரி காத்திருக்கிறான். அவர்கள் இருவருக்கும் மேலாக இன்னும் உயர் அதிகாரிகளும் இருக்கிறார்கள்.
If you see false accusations against the indigent, and violent judgments, and subverted justice in the government, do not be surprised over this situation. For those in high places have others who are higher, and there are still others, more eminent, over these.
9 நிலத்திலிருந்து பெறப்படும் இவர்களுடைய விளைச்சலை எல்லோரும் எடுத்துக்கொள்கிறார்கள்; அரசனுங்கூட வயல்வெளிகளிலிருந்தே ஆதாயம் பெறுகிறான்.
But finally, there is the King who rules over the entire earth, which is subject to him.
10 பணத்தில் ஆசைகொள்கிற எவனுக்கும் தனக்கு இருக்கும் பணம் ஒருபோதும் போதுமானதாயிராது; செல்வத்தில் ஆசைகொள்கிற எவனும் தன் வருமானத்தில் ஒருபோதும் திருப்தி அடைவதில்லை; இதுவும்கூட அர்த்தமற்றதே.
A greedy man will not be satisfied by money. And whoever loves wealth will reap no fruit from it. Therefore, this, too, is emptiness.
11 பொருள்கள் அதிகரிக்கிறபோது, அதைப் பயன்படுத்துவோரும் அதிகரிக்கிறார்கள். அவற்றைத் தமது கண்களால் பார்த்து மகிழ்வதைத் தவிர, எஜமானனுக்கு வேறு என்ன பயன்?
Where there are many riches, there will also be many to consume these things. And how does it benefit the one who possesses, except that he discerns the wealth with his own eyes?
12 தொழிலாளி கொஞ்சம் சாப்பிட்டாலும், அதிகம் சாப்பிட்டாலும் அவனுடைய நித்திரை இனிமையாயிருக்கும். ஆனால் பணக்காரனின் நிறைவோ அவனுக்கு நித்திரையைக் கொடுப்பதில்லை.
Sleep is sweet to one who works, whether he consumes little or much. But the satiation of a wealthy man will not permit him to sleep.
13 சூரியனுக்குக் கீழே பெருந்தீமை ஒன்றை நான் கண்டேன்: அதாவது, செல்வம் தன் எஜமானனுக்கே கேடுண்டாகும்படி சேர்த்து வைக்கப்படுவதும்,
There is even another most burdensome infirmity, which I have seen under the sun: wealth kept to the harm of the owner.
14 அவல நிகழ்வினால் அந்தச் செல்வம் தொலைந்துபோகிறதுமே. அதினால் அந்த எஜமானனுக்கு ஒரு மகன் இருந்தும் அவனுக்குக் கொடுப்பதற்கு ஒன்றுமிருப்பதில்லை.
For they are lost in a most grievous affliction. He has produced a son, who will be in the utmost destitution.
15 மனிதன் தன் தாயின் கருப்பையிலிருந்து நிர்வாணியாய் வருகிறான்; வருவதுபோலவே போகிறான். அவன் தன் உழைப்பிலிருந்து தன் கைகளில் ஒன்றும் எடுத்துக் கொண்டுபோவதில்லை.
Just as he went forth naked from his mother’s womb, so shall he return, and he shall take nothing with him from his labors.
16 இதுவும் ஒரு கொடுமையான தீமையே: மனிதன் தான் வருவதுபோலவே புறப்பட்டுப் போகிறான்; இதினால் அவன் பெறுவது என்ன? அவனுடைய கஷ்ட உழைப்பும் வீணே.
It is an utterly miserable infirmity that, in the same manner as he has arrived, so shall he return. How then does it benefit him, since he has labored for the wind?
17 அவன் தனது வாழ்நாட்களில் விரக்தியுடனும், நோயுடனும், கோபத்துடனும், இருளில் சாப்பிடுகிறான்.
All the days of his life he consumes: in darkness, and with many worries, and in distress as well as sadness.
18 ஆகவே ஒரு மனிதன் சாப்பிட்டுக் குடித்து சூரியனுக்குக் கீழே தனது கடும் உழைப்பில் திருப்தி காண்பதே நல்லது என நான் கண்டேன்; இறைவன் அவனுக்குக் கொடுத்திருக்கும் குறுகிய வாழ்நாள் காலத்தில் இது தகுதியானது. ஏனெனில் இதுவே அவன் பங்கு.
And so, this has seemed good to me: that a person should eat and drink, and should enjoy the fruits of his labor, in which he has toiled under the sun, for the number of the days of his life that God has given him. For this is his portion.
19 மேலும் இறைவன் எவனுக்காவது செல்வத்தையும், சொத்தையும் கொடுத்து, அத்துடன் அவற்றை அனுபவிக்கவும், தன் பங்கை ஏற்றுக்கொண்டு தன் உழைப்பில் மகிழ்ச்சியாய் இருக்கவும் செய்வது இறைவனின் ஒரு கொடையே.
And this is a gift from God: that every man to whom God has given wealth and resources, and to whom he has granted the ability to consume these, may enjoy his portion, and may find joy in his labors.
20 இறைவன் அவனுடைய இருதயத்தை மகிழ்ச்சியின் எண்ணங்களால் நிரப்பியிருப்பதினால், அவன் தனது வாழ்நாட்கள் கடந்துபோவதைக் குறித்து நினைப்பதில்லை.
And then he will not fully remember the days of his life, because God occupies his heart with delights.
