உபாகமம் 9

1 இஸ்ரயேலரே, கேளுங்கள்: இப்பொழுது நீங்கள் யோர்தானைக் கடந்து, உங்களைவிட அதிகமானவர்களும் வலிமையானவர்களுமான நாடுகளைத் துரத்திவிடப் போகிறீர்கள். அவர்கள் வானத்தை எட்டும் மதில்களையுடைய பெரிய பட்டணங்களில் வாழ்கிறார்கள்.

Hear, O Israel: thou art to pass over Jordan this day, to go in to possess nations greater and mightier than thyself, cities great and fenced up to heaven,

2 அந்த மக்கள் வலிமையும் உயரமுமான அரக்கர்கள்! நீங்கள் அவர்களைப்பற்றி அறிந்திருக்கிறீர்கள்: “ஏனாக்கியருக்கு எதிராக யாரால் நிற்கமுடியும்?” என்று அவர்களைக்குறித்து சொல்லப்பட்டதைக் கேள்விப்பட்டும் இருக்கிறீர்கள்.

a people great and tall, the sons of the Anakim, whom thou knowest, and of whom thou hast heard say, Who can stand before the sons of Anak?

3 ஆனால் உங்கள் இறைவனாகிய யெகோவாவே உங்களுக்கு முன்பாக சுட்டெரிக்கும் நெருப்பைப்போல் போகிறவர் என்பதை நிச்சயமாக அறிந்துகொள்ளுங்கள். அவர் அவர்களை அழிப்பார்; உங்களுக்கு முன்பாக அவர்களைக் கீழ்ப்படுத்துவார். யெகோவா உங்களுக்கு வாக்குப்பண்ணியது போலவே, நீங்கள் அவர்களை வெளியே துரத்தி, விரைவில் அவர்களை அழித்தொழிப்பீர்கள்.

Know therefore this day, that the LORD thy God is he which goeth over before thee as a devouring fire; he shall destroy them, and he shall bring them down before thee: so shalt thou drive them out, and make them to perish quickly, as the LORD hath spoken unto thee.

4 உங்கள் இறைவனாகிய யெகோவா அவர்களை உங்களுக்கு முன்பாகத் துரத்திவிட்ட பின்பு, “எங்களுடைய நீதியின் காரணமாகவே யெகோவா இந்த நாட்டை உரிமையாக்கிக்கொள்வதற்கு எங்களை இங்கு கொண்டுவந்திருக்கிறார்” என்று நீங்கள் நினைக்கவேண்டாம். அப்படியல்ல, இந்த நாடுகளின் கொடுமையின் காரணமாகவே யெகோவா அவர்களை உங்களுக்கு முன்பாகத் துரத்திவிடப்போகிறார்.

Speak not thou in thine heart, after that the LORD thy God hath thrust them out from before thee, saying, For my righteousness the LORD hath brought me in to possess this land: whereas for the wickedness of these nations the LORD doth drive them out from before thee.

5 நீங்கள் இந்த நாட்டை உங்கள் நீதியின் காரணமாகவோ, உங்கள் உத்தமத்தின் காரணமாகவோ உரிமையாக்கப்போவது அல்ல; இந்த நாட்டவரின் கொடுமையின் காரணமாகவும், உங்கள் இறைவனாகிய யெகோவா உங்கள் முற்பிதாக்களாகிய ஆபிரகாம், ஈசாக்கு, யாக்கோபு ஆகியோருக்குத் தாம் கொடுத்த வாக்கை நிறைவேற்றும்படிக்கும் அவர்களை உங்களுக்கு முன்பாகத் துரத்திவிடப்போகிறார்.

Not for thy righteousness, or for the uprightness of thine heart, dost thou go in to possess their land: but for the wickedness of these nations the LORD thy God doth drive them out from before thee, and that he may establish the word which the LORD sware unto thy fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob.

6 உங்கள் இறைவனாகிய யெகோவா இந்த வளமான நாட்டை நீங்கள் உரிமையாக்கிக்கொள்ளும்படி, அதை உங்களுக்குக் கொடுப்பது உங்கள் நேர்மையின் காரணமாக அல்ல என்பதை அறிந்துகொள்ளுங்கள். ஏனெனில் நீங்கள் கீழ்ப்படியாத பிடிவாதமுள்ள மக்கள்.

Know therefore, that the LORD thy God giveth thee not this good land to possess it for thy righteousness; for thou art a stiffnecked people.

7 பாலைவனத்தில் உங்கள் இறைவனாகிய யெகோவாவுக்கு எப்படிக் கோபமூட்டினீர்கள் என்பதை நினைத்துக்கொள்ளுங்கள். அதை ஒருபோதும் மறந்துவிடாதீர்கள். எகிப்திலிருந்து புறப்பட்ட நாள் தொடங்கி, இங்கு வந்து சேரும்வரை நீங்கள் யெகோவாவுக்கு எதிராகக் கலகம் செய்கிறவர்களாகவே இருந்திருக்கிறீர்கள்.

Remember, forget thou not, how thou provokedst the LORD thy God to wrath in the wilderness: from the day that thou wentest forth out of the land of Egypt, until ye came unto this place, ye have been rebellious against the LORD.

8 ஓரேபிலே நீங்கள் யெகோவாவுக்கு கோபம் மூழச்செய்தீர்கள். அதனால் அவர் உங்களை அழித்துப்போடும் அளவுக்குக் கோபம்கொண்டார்.

Also in Horeb ye provoked the LORD to wrath, and the LORD was angry with you to have destroyed you.

9 யெகோவா உங்களுடன் செய்த உடன்படிக்கையை எழுதின கற்பலகைகளை பெற்றுக்கொள்ளும்படி, நான் மலைக்குப் போனபோது, அங்கே இரவும் பகலும் நாற்பது நாட்கள் தங்கினேன். அப்பொழுது நான் உணவு சாப்பிடவுமில்லை, தண்ணீர் குடிக்கவுமில்லை.

When I was gone up into the mount to receive the tables of stone, even the tables of the covenant which the LORD made with you, then I abode in the mount forty days and forty nights; I did neither eat bread nor drink water.

10 அங்கே இறைவனின் விரலினால் எழுதப்பட்ட இரண்டு கற்பலகைகளை யெகோவா என்னிடம் கொடுத்தார். சபைக்கூடிய அந்த நாளிலே, யெகோவா மலையின்மேல் நெருப்பின் நடுவிலிருந்து உங்களுக்கு அறிவித்த கட்டளைகளெல்லாம் அவற்றில் இருந்தன.

And the LORD delivered unto me the two tables of stone written with the finger of God; and on them [was written] according to all the words, which the LORD spake with you in the mount out of the midst of the fire in the day of the assembly.

11 இரவும் பகலுமாக நாற்பது நாட்கள் முடிந்தபின் உடன்படிக்கைப் பலகைகளான இரண்டு கற்பலகைகளை யெகோவா எனக்குக் கொடுத்தார்.

And it came to pass at the end of forty days and forty nights, that the LORD gave me the two tables of stone, even the tables of the covenant.

12 பின்பு யெகோவா என்னிடம், “இங்கிருந்து உடனடியாக இறங்கிப்போ. ஏனெனில் நீ எகிப்திலிருந்து வெளியே கொண்டுவந்த உன்னுடைய மக்கள் சீர்கெட்டவர்களாகி விட்டார்கள். நான் அவர்களுக்குக் கட்டளையிட்டதிலிருந்து விரைவாய் விலகிப்போய்த் தங்களுக்காக வார்ப்பிக்கப்பட்ட விக்கிரகத்தைச் செய்துகொண்டார்கள்” என்றார்.

And the LORD said unto me, Arise, get thee down quickly from hence; for thy people which thou hast brought forth out of Egypt have corrupted themselves; they are quickly turned aside out of the way which I commanded them; they have made them a molten image.

13 மேலும் யெகோவா என்னிடம், “இந்த மக்களை நான் பார்த்தேன். உண்மையிலேயே இவர்கள் ஒரு கீழ்ப்படியாத பிடிவாதமுள்ள மக்கள்.

Furthermore the LORD spake unto me, saying, I have seen this people, and, behold, it is a stiffnecked people:

14 நான் அவர்களை அழித்து, அவர்களுடைய பெயரை வானத்தின்கீழ் இல்லாமல் செய்யவிடு. நான் அவர்களைப்பார்க்கிலும் உன்னை வலிமையானதும், அதிகமானதுமான நாடாக்குவேன்” என்றார்.

let me alone, that I may destroy them, and blot out their name from under heaven: and I will make of thee a nation mightier and greater than they.

15 எனவே, நெருப்புப் பற்றி எரிந்துகொண்டிருக்கும்போதே, நான் மலையிலிருந்து திரும்பி, கீழே இறங்கிப் போனேன். என் கைகளில் இரண்டு உடன்படிக்கையின் கற்பலகைகளும் இருந்தன.

So I turned and came down from the mount, and the mount burned with fire: and the two tables of the covenant were in my two hands.

16 கீழே நான் பார்த்தபோது, நீங்கள் உங்கள் இறைவனாகிய யெகோவாவுக்கு விரோதமாகப் பாவம்செய்திருந்ததை நான் கண்டேன். நீங்கள் ஒரு கன்றுக்குட்டியின் உருவத்தில், வார்க்கப்பட்ட ஒரு விக்கிரகத்தை உங்களுக்காக செய்திருந்தீர்கள். யெகோவா உங்களுக்குக் கட்டளையிட்டிருந்த வழியிலிருந்து விரைவில் விலகியிருந்தீர்கள்.

And I looked, and, behold, ye had sinned against the LORD your God; ye had made you a molten calf: ye had turned aside quickly out of the way which the LORD had commanded you.

17 அப்பொழுது நான் அந்த இரண்டு கற்பலகைகளையும் எனது கைகளிலிருந்து வீசி எறிந்து, உங்கள் கண்களுக்கு முன்னாலேயே அவற்றை உடைத்தேன்.

And I took hold of the two tables, and cast them out of my two hands, and brake them before your eyes.

18 யெகோவாவினுடைய பார்வையில் தீமையானதைச் செய்து, அவருக்குக் கோபமூட்டி, நீங்கள் செய்திருந்த எல்லா பாவங்களுக்காகவும், நான் இரவும் பகலும் நாற்பது நாட்கள் யெகோவாவுக்கு முன்பாக விழுந்து கிடந்தேன். நான் உணவு சாப்பிடவுமில்லை; தண்ணீர் குடிக்கவுமில்லை.

And I fell down before the LORD, as at the first, forty days and forty nights; I did neither eat bread nor drink water; because of all your sin which ye sinned, in doing that which was evil in the sight of the LORD, to provoke him to anger.

19 ஏனெனில் நான் யெகோவாவின் கோபத்திற்கும், அவருடைய கடுங்கோபத்திற்கும் பயந்தேன். உங்களை அழித்துப்போடும் அளவுக்கு அவர் கோபங்கொண்டிருந்தார். ஆனாலும் யெகோவா திரும்பவும் எனக்குச் செவிகொடுத்தார்.

For I was afraid of the anger and hot displeasure, wherewith the LORD was wroth against you to destroy you. But the LORD hearkened unto me that time also.

20 ஆரோனை அழிக்கும் அளவுக்கு யெகோவா அவன்மேல் கோபம்கொண்டார். அப்பொழுது ஆரோனுக்காகவும் நான் மன்றாடினேன்.

And the LORD was very angry with Aaron to have destroyed him: and I prayed for Aaron also the same time.

21 உங்கள் கைகள் செய்த பாவச்சின்னமான அந்தக் கன்றுக்குட்டியை நான் எடுத்து நெருப்பில்போட்டு எரித்தேன். அதை நொறுக்கி, புளுதியைப்போல் தூளாக அரைத்து, அதை மலையிலிருந்து கீழே ஓடும் நீரோடையில் எறிந்தேன்.

And I took your sin, the calf which ye had made, and burnt it with fire, and stamped it, grinding it very small, until it was as fine as dust: and I cast the dust thereof into the brook that descended out of the mount.

22 நீங்கள் தபேராவிலும், மாசாவிலும், கிப்ரோத் அத்தாவிலும்கூட யெகோவாவுக்குக் கடுங்கோபம் மூட்டினீர்கள்.

And at Taberah, and at Massah, and at Kibroth-hattaavah, ye provoked the LORD to wrath.

23 யெகோவா உங்களைக் காதேஸ் பர்னேயாவிலிருந்து அனுப்பும்போது, “நீங்கள் போய் நான் உங்களுக்குக் கொடுத்த நாட்டை உரிமையாக்கிக்கொள்ளுங்கள்” என்றார். ஆனால் நீங்களோ உங்கள் இறைவனாகிய யெகோவாவின் கட்டளையை எதிர்த்துக் கலகம் பண்ணினீர்கள். நீங்கள் அவரை நம்பவுமில்லை, அவருக்குக் கீழ்ப்படியவுமில்லை.

And when the LORD sent you from Kadesh-barnea, saying, Go up and possess the land which I have given you; then ye rebelled against the commandment of the LORD your God, and ye believed him not, nor hearkened to his voice.

24 நான் உங்களை அறிந்த காலத்திலிருந்து நீங்கள் யெகோவாவுக்கு விரோதமாகக் கலகம் பண்ணுகிறவர்களாகவே இருக்கிறீர்கள்.

Ye have been rebellious against the LORD from the day that I knew you.

25 யெகோவா, தான் உங்களை அழிக்கப்போவதாகச் சொன்னதினால், நான் இரவும் பகலும் நாற்பது நாட்கள் யெகோவாவுக்கு முன்பாக விழுந்து கிடந்தேன்.

So I fell down before the LORD the forty days and forty nights that I fell down; because the LORD had said he would destroy you.

26 அப்பொழுது நான் யெகோவாவிடம் மன்றாடி, “எல்லாம் வல்ல யெகோவாவே! நீர் உம்முடைய மகா வல்லமையினால் மீட்டு, பலத்த கரத்தினால் எகிப்திலிருந்து வெளியே கொண்டுவந்த உமது உரிமைச்சொத்தான உமது மக்களை அழிக்கவேண்டாம்.

And I prayed unto the LORD, and said, O Lord GOD, destroy not thy people and thine inheritance, which thou hast redeemed through thy greatness, which thou hast brought forth out of Egypt with a mighty hand.

27 உமது அடியார்களான ஆபிரகாம், ஈசாக்கு, யாக்கோபு ஆகியோரை நினைவிற்கொள்ளும். இம்மக்களின் பிடிவாதத்தையும், கொடுமையையும், அவர்களுடைய பாவத்தையும் பொருட்படுத்தாதேயும்.

Remember thy servants, Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob; look not unto the stubbornness of this people, nor to their wickedness, nor to their sin:

28 நீர் அவர்களை அழித்தால், நீர் எந்த நாட்டிலிருந்து எங்களைக் கொண்டுவந்தீரோ, அந்த நாட்டு மக்கள், தாம் வாக்குக்கொடுத்த நாட்டிற்கு அவர்களைக் கொண்டுபோய்ச் சேர்க்க யெகோவாவினால் முடியவில்லை. அவர் அவர்களை வெறுத்ததினால் பாலைவனத்திலே அவர்களைக் கொல்லும்படியே கொண்டுவந்தார் என்று சொல்வார்கள்.

lest the land whence thou broughtest us out say, Because the LORD was not able to bring them into the land which he promised unto them, and because he hated them, he hath brought them out to slay them in the wilderness.

29 ஆனால் இந்த மக்கள் உமது மகா வல்லமையாலும், நீட்டப்பட்ட புயத்தாலும் நீர் வெளியே கொண்டுவந்த உமது மக்களாகவும், உமது உரிமைச்சொத்தாகவும் இருக்கிறார்களே” என்றேன்.

Yet they are thy people and thine inheritance, which thou broughtest out by thy great power and by thy stretched out arm.
