தானியேல் 1
1 யூதாவின் அரசன் யோயாக்கீம் ஆட்சி செய்த மூன்றாம் வருடத்தில், பாபிலோன் அரசன் நேபுகாத்நேச்சார் எருசலேமுக்கு வந்து அதை முற்றுகையிட்டான்.
In the third year of the reign of Jehoyakim the king of Judah came Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon unto Jerusalem, and besieged it.
2 அப்பொழுது யெகோவா, யூதாவின் அரசன் யோயாக்கீமை, இறைவனின் ஆலயத்திலுள்ள சிலபொருட்களுடன் நேபுகாத்நேச்சாரிடத்தில் ஒப்புக்கொடுத்தார். அவன் இவற்றை பாபிலோனிலுள்ள தன் தெய்வத்தின் கோவிலுக்கு எடுத்துக்கொண்டு போனான். அவற்றைத் தனது தெய்வத்துக்குரிய திரவிய களஞ்சியத்தில் வைத்தான்.
And the Lord gave up into his hand Yehoyakim the king of Judah, with part of the vessels of the house of God: and he brought them into the land of Shin'ar into the house of his god, namely, he brought the vessels into the treasure-house of his god.
3 அதன்பின் அரசன் தன் அரண்மனை அதிகாரிகளின் தலைவனாகிய அஸ்பேனாஸிடம், “நீ இஸ்ரயேலின் அரச குடும்பத்திலிருந்தும், பெருங்குடிமக்களிலிருந்தும் சிலரைத் தெரிவுசெய்துகொண்டு வா” என அவனுக்கு உத்தரவிட்டான்.
And the king said unto Ashpenas, the chief of his eunuchs, that he should bring out of the children of Israel, and of the royal seed, and of the nobles,
4 அவர்கள் எவ்வித சரீர குறைபாடு அற்றவர்களும், வசீகரமுடையவர்களுமாயிருக்க வேண்டும். அத்துடன் அவர்கள் எல்லா விதமான கல்வியையும் கற்றுக்கொள்ளும் ஆர்வம் உள்ளவர்களும், அறிவில் சிறந்தவர்களும், விளங்கிக்கொள்ளும் ஆற்றலுடையவர்களுமாயிருக்க வேண்டும். அரண்மனையில் பணிசெய்யத் தகுதியுடையவர்களுமான வாலிபராய் இருக்கவேண்டும். அவன் அவர்களுக்குப் பாபிலோனிய மொழியையும், இலக்கியங்களையும் கற்றுக்கொடுக்க வேண்டும் எனக் கூறினான்.
[Certain] lads in whom there should be no kind of blemish, but who should be handsome in appearance, and intelligent in all wisdom, and acquainted with knowledge, and understanding science, and such as should have the ability to serve in the king's palace, and that these should be taught the learning and the language of the Chaldeans.
5 அத்துடன், அரசனுடைய பந்தியில் தான் சாப்பிடும் உணவிலும், குடிக்கும் திராட்சை இரசத்திலும் ஒவ்வொரு நாளும் அவர்களுக்கென அரசன் ஒதுக்கிக் கொடுப்பான். இவ்வாறு அவர்கள், மூன்று வருடம் பயிற்சி பெறவேண்டும். பின்னர் அவர்கள் அரச பணியில் ஈடுபட வேண்டும் எனவும் கட்டளையிட்டான்.
And the king ordered for them a daily provision for its day of the king's food, and of the wine which he drank, and to educate them three years, so that at the end thereof they should serve before the king.
6 அவர்களில் யூதா கோத்திரத்தைச் சேர்ந்தவர்களான தானியேல், அனனியா, மீஷாயேல், அசரியா ஆகியோரும் இருந்தார்கள்.
Now there were among these of the children of Judah, Daniel, Chananyah, Mishael, and 'Azaryah.
7 பிரதம அதிகாரி தானியேலுக்கு, பெல்தெஷாத்சார் என்றும், அனனியாவுக்கு, சாத்ராக் என்றும், மீஷாயேலுக்கு, மேஷாக் என்றும், அசரியாவுக்கு, ஆபேத்நேகோ என்றும் புதிய பெயர்களைக் கொடுத்தான்.
And the chief of the eunuchs assigned them names; and he assigned to Daniel the name of Belteshazzar; and to Chananyah, of Shadrach; and to Mishael, of Meshach; and to 'Azaryah, of 'Abed-nego.
8 ஆனால் தானியேலோ, அரச உணவினாலும், திராட்சை இரசத்தினாலும் தன்னைக் கறைப்படுத்திக்கொள்ளக் கூடாதென தன் மனதில் உறுதி செய்திருந்தான். அவ்வாறே தன்னைக் கறைப்படுத்தாதிருக்கும்படி, பிரதம அதிகாரியிடம் அனுமதியும் கேட்டான்.
But Daniel resolved in his heart that he would not defile himself with the food of the king, nor with the wine which he drank: and therefore he requested of the chief of the eunuchs that he might not need to defile himself.
9 அப்பொழுது பிரதம அதிகாரி தானியேலுக்குத் தயவும், அனுதாபமும் காட்டும்படி இறைவன் செய்தார்.
And God gave Daniel kindness and mercy before the chief of the eunuchs.
10 ஆனால், பிரதம அதிகாரி தானியேலிடம், “உங்களுக்கு உணவையும், பானத்தையும் ஒழுங்கு செய்திருக்கும் என் தலைவனாகிய அரசனுக்கு நான் பயப்படுகிறேன். ஏனெனில் அவர் உங்களைப் பார்க்கும்போது, உங்கள் வயதோடொத்த வாலிபர்களைவிட, உங்கள் தோற்றம் களையிழந்து வாடிக் காணப்பட்டால், அரசன் என் தலையைத் துண்டித்துவிடுவார் என்றான்.”
And the chief of the eunuchs said unto Daniel, I fear my lord the king, who hath ordered your food and your drink; for why should he see your face sadder looking than that of the lads who are of your age? and ye would thus endanger my head with the king.
11 தானியேல், அனனியா, மீஷாயேல், அசரியா ஆகிய நால்வரையும் பராமரிக்கும்படி, பிரதம அதிகாரியினால் நியமிக்கப்பட்ட காவலனிடம் தானியேல்,
Then said Daniel to the steward whom the chief of the eunuchs had given charge over Daniel, Chananyah, Mishael, and 'Azaryah,
12 “தயவுசெய்து பத்து நாட்களுக்கு உமது அடியவர்களைச் சோதித்துப்பாரும். சாப்பிட காய்கறி உணவையும், குடிக்கத் தண்ணீரையுமே அன்றி வேறொன்றும் எங்களுக்குத் தரவேண்டாம்.
Prove, I beseech thee, thy servants, ten days; and let them give us vegetables to eat, and water to drink;
13 அதன்பின் அரச உணவு சாப்பிடும் வாலிபருடைய தோற்றத்தோடு, எங்கள் தோற்றத்தை ஒப்பிட்டுப்பாரும். பின்பு உமது விருப்பப்படியே உமது அடியார்களை நடத்தும் என்றான்.”
And then let our countenances be looked at before thee, and the countenance of the lads that eat the food of the king: and as thou mayest see [fitting], so deal with thy servants.
14 அவ்வாறே அவனும் இதற்கு இணங்கி, அவர்களைப் பத்து நாட்களுக்குச் சோதித்துப்பார்த்தான்.
And he hearkened unto them in this matter, and proved them ten days.
15 பத்து நாட்கள் முடிந்தபோது பார்க்கையில், அரச உணவு சாப்பிட்ட வாலிபர்களைவிட, இவர்களே ஆரோக்கியமாகவும், நல்ல புஷ்டியுடையவர்களாகவும் இருக்கக் காணப்பட்டார்கள்.
And at the end of ten days their countenances appeared better and fuller in flesh than [that of] all the lads who ate the food of the king.
16 எனவே காவலன் அவர்களுக்கென ஒதுக்கப்பட்ட சிறந்த உணவையும், குடிக்க வேண்டிய திராட்சை இரசத்தையும் எடுத்துவிட்டு, அதற்குப் பதிலாக மரக்கறி உணவையே அவர்களுக்குக் கொடுத்துவந்தான்.
And the steward took away their [apportioned] food, and the wine that they were to drink, and gave them vegetables.
17 இறைவன் இந்த நான்கு வாலிபருக்கும் அறிவையும், எல்லாவித இலக்கியங்களையும், கல்வியையும், விளங்கிக்கொள்ளும் ஆற்றலையும் கொடுத்தார். தானியேலினால் எல்லா விதமான தரிசனங்களையும், கனவுகளையும் விளங்கிக்கொள்ளக் கூடியதாயிருந்தது.
But as regardeth all these four lads, God gave them knowledge and intelligence in all learning and wisdom; and Daniel had understanding in all visions and dreams.
18 அவர்களை உள்ளே கொண்டுவரும்படி அரசன் நியமித்த நாளில், பிரதம அதிகாரி அவர்களை நேபுகாத்நேச்சார் முன் கொண்டுவந்தான்.
And at the end of the days [after] which the king had said that they should be presented, the chief of the eunuchs presented them before Nebuchadnezzar.
19 அரசன் அவர்களோடு பேசியபோது தானியேல், அனனியா, மீஷாயேல், அசரியா ஆகியோருக்கு இணையாக ஒருவனும் இல்லாதிருப்பதைக் கண்டான்; ஆகவே அவர்கள் அரச பணிசெய்ய அமர்த்தப்பட்டார்கள்.
And the king spoke with them; and there was not found among them all any one like Daniel, Chananyah, Mishael, and 'Azaryah: and so they served before the king.
20 எல்லாவித ஞானத்தையும், பகுத்தறிவையும் குறித்து அரசன் அவர்களிடம் கேள்விகள் கேட்டபோது, தனது அரசாட்சியில் உள்ள எல்லா மந்திரவாதிகளையும், மாயவித்தைக்காரர்களையும்விட, பத்து மடங்கு சிறப்புடையவர்களாக அரசன் இவர்களைக் கண்டான்.
And in every matter of wise understanding, which the king required of them, he found them ten times superior above all the magicians and astrologers that were in all his kingdom.
21 கோரேஸ் அரசனின் ஆட்சியின் முதலாம் வருடம்வரை தானியேல் அங்கேயே இருந்தான்.
And Daniel continued even unto the first year of king Cyrus.
