அப்போஸ்தலர் 8
1 ஸ்தேவானைக் கொலைசெய்கிறதற்கு, சவுலும் உடன்பட்டிருந்தான். அந்த நாளிலே, எருசலேமில் இருந்த திருச்சபைக்கு மிகுந்த துன்பம் ஏற்பட்டது. இதனால், அப்போஸ்தலரைத் தவிர அனைவரும் யூதேயாவின் நாட்டுப் புறங்களுக்கும், சமாரியாவுக்கும் சிதறடிக்கப்பட்டார்கள்.
BUT Saul was delighted with his execution. Now on that very day commenced a great persecution against the church which was at Jerusalem; and all, besides the apostles, were dispersed through the regions of Judea and Samaria.
2 இறைவனுடைய பக்தர்கள் ஸ்தேவானை அடக்கம்பண்ணி, அவனுக்காக ஆழ்ந்த துக்கங்கொண்டாடினார்கள்.
Then some pious men assembling, carried Stephen to his grave, and made great lamentation over him.
3 ஆனால் சவுலோ, திருச்சபையை அழிக்கத் தொடங்கினான். அவன் வீடுகள்தோறும் நுழைந்து ஆண்களையும் பெண்களையும் இழுத்துக்கொண்டுபோய் அவர்களைச் சிறையிலடைக்கச் செய்தான்.
But Saul ravaged the church, entering into the houses, and dragging men and women, cast them into prison.
4 சிதறிப்போனவர்கள் தாங்கள் சென்ற இடமெல்லாம், நற்செய்தியைப் பிரசங்கித்தார்கள்.
Those therefore who were dispersed, travelled through the country, preaching the word.
5 பிலிப்பு சமாரியாவிலுள்ள பட்டணத்திற்குப் போய், அங்கே கிறிஸ்துவைப் பிரசித்தப்படுத்தினான்.
But Philip, going down to a city of Samaria, preached Christ unto them.
6 கூடிவந்த மக்கள், பிலிப்பு சொன்னதைக் கேட்டும் அவன் செய்த அற்புத அடையாளங்களைக் கண்டும் அவன் சொன்னவைகளுக்கு எல்லோரும் கவனமாய்ச் செவிகொடுத்தார்கள்.
And the multitudes with united minds were very attentive to the things spoken by Philip, when they heard him, and saw the miracles which he did.
7 அநேகரிலிருந்து, தீய ஆவிகள் கூச்சலிட்டுக்கொண்டு வெளியேறின. பல முடக்குவாதக்காரரும் கால் ஊனமுற்றோர்களும் சுகமடைந்தார்கள்.
For the unclean spirits, roaring with great cries, came forth out of many who were possessed: and many who were paralytic and lame were healed.
8 இதனால் அந்தப் பட்டணத்திலே பெருமகிழ்ச்சி உண்டாயிற்று.
And there was great joy in that city.
9 சீமோன் என்னும் பெயருடைய ஒருவன், சில காலமாக அந்தப் பட்டணத்தில் மந்திரவித்தை செய்து, சமாரியாவிலுள்ள மக்களையெல்லாம் வியக்கச்செய்தான். அவன் தன்னை ஒரு பெரிய ஆளாகக் காண்பித்துக்கொண்டான்.
But a certain man, named Simon, lived previously in that city, who practised magic, and astonished the nation of Samaria, giving out himself as an extraordinary great personage:
10 இதனால் உயர்ந்தவர்களும் தாழ்ந்தவர்களுமான எல்லா மக்களும் அவன் சொல்வதைக் கவனமாய் கேட்டு, “பெரும் வல்லமை என்று சொல்லப்படும் தெய்வீக வல்லமை இந்த மனிதனே” என்றார்கள்.
to whom all gave heed from the small to the great, saying, This man is the great power of God.
11 சீமோன் தனது மந்திரவித்தையினால் அவர்களை வெகுகாலமாய் வியக்கப்பண்ணினதால், அவர்கள் அவனைப் பின்பற்றினார்கள்.
And to him they attended, because he had of a considerable time astonished them by his magical tricks.
12 ஆனால் பிலிப்பு இறைவனுடைய அரசைப்பற்றிய நற்செய்தியையும் இயேசுகிறிஸ்துவின் பெயரையும் குறித்துப் பிரசங்கித்தபோது, அவர்கள் விசுவாசித்தார்கள். ஆண்களும் பெண்களுமாக திருமுழுக்குப் பெற்றார்கள்.
But when they believed Philip, who preached the glad tidings of the things which related to the kingdom of God, and the name of Jesus Christ, they were baptised both men and women.
13 சீமோனும் விசுவாசித்து திருமுழுக்குப் பெற்றான். அவன் தான் கண்ட பெரிதான அடையாளங்களினாலும் அற்புதங்களினாலும் வியப்புற்று, பிலிப்புவைப் பின்பற்றி எல்லா இடங்களுக்கும் சென்றான்.
Then Simon also himself believed: and being baptised, he attached himself to Philip, and beholding the signs and great miracles which were performed, he was astonished.
14 சமாரியாவிலுள்ளவர்கள் இறைவனின் வார்த்தைகளை ஏற்றுக்கொண்டார்கள் என்று எருசலேமிலுள்ள அப்போஸ்தலர் கேள்விப்பட்டபோது, பேதுருவையும் யோவானையும் அங்கே அனுப்பினார்கள்.
But when the apostles who were at Jerusalem heard that Samaria had received the word of God, they sent unto them Peter and John:
15 இவர்கள் அங்கேபோய்ச் சேர்ந்தபோது, அவர்கள் பரிசுத்த ஆவியானவரைப் பெற்றுக்கொள்ளும்படி, அங்குள்ள மக்களுக்காக மன்றாடினார்கள்.
who, when they were come down, prayed for them, that they might receive the Holy Ghost:
16 ஏனெனில், அதுவரை அவர்களில் யாருக்கும் பரிசுத்த ஆவியானவர் அருளப்படவில்லை. அவர்கள் கர்த்தராகிய இயேசுவின் பெயரில் திருமுழுக்கு மட்டுமே பெற்றிருந்தார்கள்.
for as yet he had not fallen on any one of them: only they had been baptised into the name of the Lord Jesus.
17 பேதுருவும் யோவானும் அவர்கள்மேல் தங்கள் கைகளை வைத்து மன்றாடியபோது, அவர்கள் பரிசுத்த ஆவியானவரைப் பெற்றுக்கொண்டார்கள்.
Then they laid their hands upon them, and they received the Holy Ghost.
18 அப்போஸ்தலர் கைகளை வைத்து மன்றாடும்போது, பரிசுத்த ஆவியானவர் கொடுக்கப்படுவதைக் கண்ட சீமோன், அவர்களிடம் பணத்தைக் கொடுத்து,
Now when Simon saw, that by the imposition of the apostles’ hands, the Holy Ghost was given, he offered them money,
19 “நான் எவர்கள்மேல் கைகளை வைக்கிறேனோ, அவர்கள் அனைவரும் பரிசுத்த ஆவியானவரைப் பெற்றுக்கொள்ளும்படி, எனக்கும் இந்த வல்லமையைத் தாருங்கள்” என்று கேட்டான்.
saying, Confer on me also this power, that on whomsoever I lay my hands, they may receive the Holy Ghost.
20 அப்பொழுது பேதுரு அவனிடம், “இறைவனுடைய நன்கொடையைப் பணத்தினால் வாங்கலாம் என்று நீ நினைத்தபடியால், உனது பணம் உன்னுடனேயே அழிந்து போகட்டும்!
But Peter said unto him, May thy silver with thyself go into perdition, because thou hast imagined that the gift of God can be purchased with money.
21 இந்த ஊழியத்திலே உனக்கு எந்தவித பங்கும் இல்லை, பாகமும் இல்லை. உனது இருதயம் இறைவனுக்கு முன்பாக நீதியாய் இருக்கவில்லையே.
There is for thee neither part nor lot in this word: for thy heart is not right before God.
22 எனவே, இந்தத் தீமையைவிட்டு நீ மனந்திரும்பி, கர்த்தரிடம் மன்றாடு. நீ உன் இருதயத்தில் இப்படிப்பட்ட எண்ணம் கொண்டிருப்பதை ஒருவேளை அவர் மன்னிப்பார்.
Repent therefore of this thy wickedness, and pray to God, if haply this thought of thy heart may be forgiven thee.
23 ஏனெனில், நீ முழுவதும் கசப்பிலும் பாவக்கட்டிலும் அகப்பட்டிருப்பதை நான் காண்கிறேன்” என்றான்.
For I see that thou art in the gall of bitterness, and the bond of iniquity.
24 அப்பொழுது சீமோன், “நீங்கள் சொன்னது ஒன்றும் எனக்கு நடக்காதபடி கர்த்தரிடம் எனக்காக மன்றாடுங்கள்” என்றான்.
Then Simon answering said, Pray ye for me unto the Lord, that none of the things which ye have spoken may come upon me.
25 பேதுருவும் யோவானும் சாட்சி கூறி, கர்த்தரின் வார்த்தையையும் பிரசித்தப்படுத்தினார்கள். அவர்கள் சமாரியரின் பல கிராமங்களிலும் நற்செய்தியைப் பிரசங்கித்துக்கொண்டு, எருசலேமுக்குத் திரும்பிச் சென்றார்கள்.
Then they, after bearing their testimony, and speaking the word of the Lord, returned towards Jerusalem, and preached the gospel in many villages of the Samaritans.
26 கர்த்தரின் தூதன் பிலிப்புவிடம், “நீ எழுந்து எருசலேமிலிருந்து காசாவுக்குச் செல்லும் வழியாகத் தெற்கு நோக்கிப் போ” என்றார்.
Now the angel of the Lord spake to Philip, saying, Arise, and go towards the south, on the road which leads down from Jerusalem to Gaza: it is a wilderness.
27 எனவே அவன் புறப்பட்டுப்போய், அண்ணகனாய் இருந்த ஒரு எத்தியோப்பியனை வழியிலே சந்தித்தான். இவன் எத்தியோப்பியரின் அரசியான கந்தாகே என்பவளின் எல்லாச் சொத்துக்களுக்கும் பொறுப்பாயிருந்த, ஒரு முக்கிய அதிகாரி. இந்த எத்தியோப்பியன் வழிபடும்படி எருசலேமுக்குச் சென்றிருந்தான்.
And he arose and went: and lo! an Ethiopian man, an eunuch, a person in power under Candace queen of the Ethiopians, who was over all her treasury; he had gone to worship unto Jerusalem,
28 அந்த அதிகாரி தனது வீட்டிற்குத் திரும்பிப் போய்க்கொண்டிருக்கும்போது, வழியிலே தனது தேரில் உட்கார்ந்து, இறைவாக்கினன் ஏசாயாவின் புத்தகத்தை வாசித்துக்கொண்டிருந்தான்.
and was returning, and sitting in his chariot, was reading the prophet Isaiah.
29 பரிசுத்த ஆவியானவர் பிலிப்புவிடம், “நீ அந்தத் தேரை நோக்கிப் போய், அதன் அருகே செல்” என்றார்.
Then said the Spirit to Philip, Go up, and approach close to that chariot.
30 பிலிப்பு அந்தத் தேரை நோக்கி ஓடிச்சென்றப் போது, அவன் இறைவாக்கினன் ஏசாயாவின் புத்தகத்தை வாசித்துக்கொண்டிருந்தான். அப்பொழுது பிலிப்பு அவனிடம், “நீ வாசிப்பதன் பொருள் உனக்குத் தெரிகின்றதா?” எனக் கேட்டான்.
Then Philip running up to him, heard him reading the prophet Isaiah; and he said, Well! but dost thou understand what thou art reading?
31 “அதற்கு அவன், யாராவது எனக்கு அதை விவரித்துச் சொல்லாவிட்டால், எனக்கு எப்படி விளங்கும்?” என்று சொல்லி, பிலிப்புவைத் தன்னுடனேகூட வந்து உட்காரும்படி அழைத்தான்.
He replied, How indeed can I, except some person guide me in the way? And he besought Philip to come up and sit with him.
32 அந்த அதிகாரி வாசித்துக்கொண்டிருந்த வேதவசனப் பகுதியில்: “அவர் கொல்லப்படுவதற்குக் கொண்டுபோகப்படும் ஆட்டைப்போல் இருந்தார். மயிர்க்கத்தரிப்பவனுக்கு முன்பாக மவுனமாயிருக்கும் ஆட்டுக்குட்டியைப்போல், அவர் தமது வாயைத் திறவாதிருந்தார்.
The portion of scripture which he had been reading was this: “He was led as a sheep to the slaughter; and as a lamb before him who sheareth it is dumb, so he opened not his mouth:
33 அவர் அவமதிக்கப்படுகையில், அவருக்கு நீதி கிடைக்கவில்லை. அவருடைய சந்ததியைக்குறித்து யாரால் என்ன சொல்லமுடியும்? அவருடைய உயிர் பூமியிலிருந்து எடுக்கப்பட்டுவிட்டதே” என்றிருந்தது.
in his humiliation his judgment was taken away: but his generation who can describe? for his life was taken away from the earth.”
34 அந்த அதிகாரி பிலிப்புவிடம், “இறைவாக்கினர் யாரைக்குறித்து இதைச் சொல்கிறார்? தம்மைக்குறித்தா, அல்லது வேறு ஒருவரைக்குறித்தா?” தயவுசெய்து எனக்குச் சொல்லும் என்றான்.
Then the eunuch addressing himself to Philip, said, I pray thee, of whom doth the prophet thus speak? of himself, or of some other person?
35 அப்பொழுது பிலிப்பு, அதே வேதவசனப் பகுதியைக்குறித்துப் பேசத்தொடங்கி, இயேசுவைப்பற்றிய நற்செய்தியை அவனுக்குச் சொன்னான்.
Then Philip opening his mouth, and beginning from that scripture, preached to him Jesus.
36 அவர்கள் பிரயாணமாய் போய்க்கொண்டிருக்கையில், தண்ணீர் உள்ள ஒரு இடத்திற்கு வந்தார்கள். அப்பொழுது அந்த அதிகாரி பிலிப்புவிடம், “பார், இங்கே தண்ணீர் இருக்கிறது. நான் ஏன் திருமுழுக்கு பெறக்கூடாது?” என்றான்.
But as they went on the road, they came to some water: and the eunuch said, Here is water, what forbids my being baptised?
37 அதற்குப் பிலிப்பு, “நீ உனது முழு இருதயத்தோடும் விசுவாசித்தால், நீ திருமுழுக்கு பெற்றுக்கொள்ளலாம்” என்றான். அதற்கு அந்த அதிகாரி, “இயேசுகிறிஸ்து இறைவனுடைய மகன் என்று நான் விசுவாசிக்கிறேன்” என்றான்.
And Philip said, If thou believest with the whole heart, it is allowable. Then he answered and said, I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God.
38 எனவே அவன் தேரை நிறுத்தும்படி உத்தரவு கொடுத்தான். பிலிப்புவும் அந்த அதிகாரியும் தண்ணீரில் இறங்கினார்கள். பிலிப்பு அவனுக்குத் திருமுழுக்கு கொடுத்தான்.
And he bid the carriage stop: and they went down both into the water, both Philip and the eunuch; and he baptised him.
39 அவர்கள் தண்ணீரிலிருந்து வெளியே வந்தபோது, திடீரென கர்த்தரின் ஆவியானவர் பிலிப்புவை அங்கிருந்து கொண்டுபோய்விட்டார். அந்த அதிகாரி அதற்குப் பின்பு பிலிப்புவைக் காணாமல், அவன் மகிழ்ச்சியுடன் தன் வழியே சென்றான்.
But when they were come up out of the water, the Spirit of the Lord caught up Philip, and the eunuch saw him no more: then he went on his way rejoicing.
40 பிலிப்புவோ ஆசோத்திலே காணப்பட்டான். அவன் அங்கிருந்து பிரயாணம் செய்து, எல்லாப் பட்டணங்களிலும் நற்செய்தியைப் பிரசங்கம் பண்ணிக்கொண்டு, செசரியாவைச் சென்றடைந்தான்.
But Philip found himself at Azotus: and passing through he preached the gospel in all the cities, until he came to Caesarea.
