அப்போஸ்தலர் 21
1 நாங்கள் அவர்களைவிட்டுப் பிரிந்து, கப்பல் மூலம் புறப்பட்டு, நேர்திசையில் பயணம் செய்து, கோஸ்தீவைச் சென்றடைந்தோம். மறுநாள் அங்கிருந்து ரோதுவுக்குப் போனோம். பின்பு அங்கிருந்து பத்தாரா பட்டணத்திற்குப் போனோம்.
And it came to pass that, after we had separated from them, we put to sea, and came by a straight course to Cos, and on the following day, to Rhodes, and thence to Patara.
2 அங்கிருந்து பெனிக்கேவுக்கு ஒரு கப்பல் போவதை நாங்கள் கண்டு, அதில் ஏறிப் பயணமானோம்.
And finding a ship that was going to Phenicia, we embarked, and put to sea.
3 நாங்கள் சீப்புரு தீவைக் கண்டு, அதன் தெற்குப் பக்கமாக அதைக் கடந்துசென்று, சீரியாவுக்குக் கப்பலில் பயணமானோம். தீரு பட்டணத்தில் கரை இறங்கினோம். ஏனெனில், அந்தக் கப்பல் அங்கே பொருட்களை இறக்க வேண்டியிருந்தது.
And we came in view of Cyprus; and, leaving it to the left, we sailed to Syria, and landed at Tyre: for there the ship was to put off her lading.
4 அங்கே சீடர்கள் இருப்பதைக் கண்டு, அவர்களுடன் ஏழு நாட்கள் தங்கினோம். அவர்கள் ஆவியானவரின் ஏவுதலினால், எருசலேமுக்குப் போகவேண்டாம் எனப் பவுலைக் கெஞ்சிக் கேட்டார்கள்.
And we remained there seven days, after finding the disciples. These urged Paul, by the Spirit, not to go up to Jerusalem.
5 ஆனால் நாங்களோ, அங்கே தங்கவேண்டிய காலம் முடிந்ததும், அவ்விடத்தைவிட்டு எங்கள் பயணத்தைத் தொடர்ந்தோம். அப்பொழுது அங்கேயிருந்த சீடர்கள் அனைவரும் தங்கள் மனைவி, பிள்ளைகளுடனும் பட்டணத்தைவிட்டு வெளியே வந்து, எங்களுடனே வந்தார்கள். நாங்கள் அனைவரும் கடற்கரையில் முழங்காற்படியிட்டு மன்றாடினோம்.
And when these days were completed, we went forth, and continued our journey, they all, with their wives and children, conducting us out of the city: and we kneeled down on the shore, and prayed.
6 பின்பு ஒருவருக்கொருவர் விடைபெற்று நாங்கள் கப்பலேறினோம். அவர்கள் தங்கள் வீடுகளுக்குத் திரும்பிச் சென்றார்கள்.
And when we had bid each other farewell, we embarked, and they returned home.
7 நாங்கள் தீரு பட்டணத்திலிருந்து தொடர்ந்து பயணம் செய்து, பித்தொலோமாய் பட்டணத்தில் கரையிறங்கினோம். அங்கே சகோதரரைச் சந்தித்து அவர்களை வாழ்த்தி, அவர்களுடனே ஒரு நாள் தங்கினோம்.
And completing the voyage from Tyre, we arrived at Ptolemais: and having saluted the brethren, we remained with them one day.
8 மறுநாள் நாங்கள் புறப்பட்டு செசரியா பட்டணத்தைப் போய்ச் சேர்ந்தோம். அங்கே நற்செய்தியாளனான பிலிப்புவின் வீட்டில் தங்கினோம். இவன் முன்பு உணவு பரிமாறும் பணிக்குத் தெரிந்தெடுத்த, அந்த ஏழுபேரில் ஒருவன்.
On the following day we departed, and came to Cæsarea, and went into the house of Philip the evangelist, who was one of the seven; and we remained with him.
9 அவனுக்கு கன்னிகைகளான நான்கு மகள்கள் இருந்தார்கள். அவர்கள் இறைவாக்கு உரைப்பவர்கள்.
This man had four virgin daughters, who had the gift of prophesy.
10 அங்கே சிலநாட்கள் நாங்கள் தங்கியிருக்கையில், அகபு என்னும் பெயருடைய இறைவாக்கினன் யூதேயாவிலிருந்து வந்தான்.
And as we remained there many days, there came down, from Judea, a certain prophet, named Agabus;
11 அவன் எங்களிடம் வந்து, பவுலின் இடைக்கச்சையை எடுத்து, அதனால் தனது கைகளையும், கால்களையும் கட்டிக்கொண்டு இறைவாக்குரைத்தான். அவன் சொன்னதாவது: “இந்த இடைக்கச்சைக்குச் சொந்தமானவனை எருசலேமிலுள்ள யூதர் இவ்விதமாய்க் கட்டி, அவனை யூதரல்லாத மக்களிடம் ஒப்புக்கொடுப்பார்கள் என்று பரிசுத்த ஆவியானவர் சொல்கிறார்” என்றான்.
and he came to us, and taking Paul’s girdle, he bound his own hands and feet, and said: Thus says the Holy Spirit; the Jews that are in Jerusalem will so bind the man to whom this girdle belongs; and they will deliver him into the hands of the Gentiles.
12 நாங்கள் இதைக் கேட்டபோது, நாங்களும் அங்கிருந்த மக்களும் எருசலேமுக்குப் போகவேண்டாம் என்று பவுலைக் கெஞ்சிக் கேட்டுக் கொண்டோம்.
And when we heard these things, we, and those of that place also, besought him not to go up to Jerusalem.
13 அப்பொழுது பவுல் எங்களிடம், “நீங்கள் ஏன் அழுது என் இருதயத்தை கலங்கப் பண்ணுகிறீர்கள்? கர்த்தராகிய இயேசுவின் பெயருக்காக நான் எருசலேமில் கட்டி சிறையிடப்படுவதற்கு மட்டுமல்ல, இறப்பதற்கும் ஆயத்தமாயிருக்கிறேன்” என்றான்.
But Paul answered: What do you effect by weeping, and breaking my heart? For I am ready, not only to be bound, but also to suffer death in Jerusalem, for the name of the Lord Jesus.
14 நாங்கள் சொல்லியும் பவுல் கேட்காததினால், “கர்த்தருடைய சித்தத்தின்படி நடக்கட்டும்” என்று சொல்லி, நாங்கள் பேசாமல் இருந்தோம்.
And as he would not be persuaded, we kept silence, and said: The will of the Lord be done.
15 இதன்பின், நாங்கள் பயணத்திற்கு ஆயத்தமாகி எருசலேமுக்குப் புறப்பட்டோம்.
And after these days we prepared for our journey, and went up to Jerusalem.
16 செசரியாவிலிருந்து சில சீடர்கள் எங்களுடனேகூட வந்து, நாங்கள் தங்குவதற்கு எங்களை மினாசோனுடைய வீட்டிற்குக் கூட்டிக்கொண்டு சென்றார்கள். அவன் சீப்புரு தீவைச் சேர்ந்தவனும், தொடக்கத்திலேயே சீடர்களானவர்களில் ஒருவனுமாய் இருந்தான்.
There went with us also some of the disciples from Cæsarea, who took with them, Mnason of Cyprus, an old disciple, with whom we should lodge.
17 நாங்கள் எருசலேமுக்கு வந்து சேர்ந்தபோது, அங்கிருந்த சகோதரர் எங்களை மிக மகிழ்ச்சியுடன் வரவேற்றார்கள்.
And when we came to Jerusalem, the brethren received us gladly.
18 மறுநாள் பவுலும், நாங்களும் யாக்கோபைச் சந்திக்கும்படி போனோம். எருசலேம் திருச்சபையின் தலைவர்கள் அனைவரும் அங்கே இருந்தார்கள்.
And, on the following day, Paul went in with us to James, and all the elders were present.
19 பவுல் அவர்களை வாழ்த்தி, தனது ஊழியத்தின் மூலம் இறைவன் யூதரல்லாதவர் மத்தியில் செய்தவற்றைக் குறித்து விவரமாய் விளக்கிச்சொன்னான்.
And when he had saluted them, he related, in every particular, the things which. God had done among the Gentiles by his ministry.
20 அவர்கள் இதைக் கேட்டபோது, இறைவனைத் துதித்தார்கள். பின்பு அவர்கள் பவுலிடம்: “சகோதரனே, யூதருக்குள் ஆயிரக்கணக்கானோர் விசுவாசித்திருக்கிறார்கள் என்று நீ காண்கிறாயே. அவர்கள் அனைவரும் மோசேயின் சட்டத்தைக்குறித்து ஆர்வம் உள்ளவர்களாய் இருக்கிறார்கள்.
And when they heard it, they glorified the Lord, and said to him: You see, brother, how many myriads of the Jews there are that believe, and they are all zealous for the law.
21 யூதரல்லாதவர்களின் மத்தியில் வாழும் யூதருக்கும், அவர்கள் மோசேயின் சட்டத்தைக் கைக்கொள்வதை விட்டுவிட வேண்டும் என்று நீ போதிக்கிறதாக இங்குள்ள யூதருக்கு அறிவிக்கப்பட்டிருக்கிறது. இன்னும், அவர்களுடைய பிள்ளைகளுக்கு விருத்தசேதனம் செய்யக்கூடாது என்றும், யூத முறைகளைக் கைக்கொள்ளக்கூடாது என்றும் நீ போதிக்கிறதாகவும் அறிவிக்கப்பட்டிருக்கிறது.
And they have heard it reported of you, that you teach all the Jews that are among the Gentiles to apostatize from Moses; commanding them not to circumcise their children, nor to walk according to the customs.
22 ஆகவே நாம் செய்யக்கூடியது என்ன? நீ இங்கே வந்திருப்பதை அவர்கள் நிச்சயமாய் கேள்விப்படுவார்கள்.
What, then, is to be done? A multitude must certainly come together; for they will hear that you have come.
23 எனவே, நாங்கள் உனக்குச் சொல்வதைச் செய். இங்கே நேர்த்திக்கடன் செய்திருக்கிற நான்குபேர் எங்களிடம் இருக்கிறார்கள்.
Do, therefore, this which we advise you. We have four men who have a vow on them.
24 இவர்களைக் கூட்டிக்கொண்டுபோய், இவர்கள் செய்யும் பாரம்பரிய சுத்திகரிப்பு முறைமைகளில் நீயும் சேர்ந்துகொள்; இவர்கள் மொட்டையடிப்பதற்கான செலவை நீ செலுத்து. அப்பொழுது அனைவரும் உன்னைப்பற்றித் தங்களுக்கு அறிவிக்கப்பட்ட காரியங்களில் எவ்வித உண்மையும் இல்லையென்றும், நீயும் மோசேயின் சட்டத்திற்குக் கீழ்ப்படிந்தே வாழ்கிறாய் என்றும் அறிந்துகொள்வார்கள்.
Take them, and join with them in their vow of abstinence, and pay their expenses, in order that they may shave their heads; and all will know that the things which they have heard reported of you are nothing; but that you yourself also walk orderly, and keep the law.
25 யூதரல்லாத விசுவாசிகளைக் குறித்தோ, நாங்கள் எங்கள் தீர்மானத்தை அவர்களுக்கு எழுதியிருக்கிறோம்; அவர்கள் இறைவன் அல்லாதவைகளுக்குப் பலியிடப்பட்ட உணவையும் இரத்தத்தையும் நெரிக்கப்பட்ட மிருகத்தின் இறைச்சியையும் தவிர்க்கவேண்டும் என்றும், முறைகேடான பாலுறவுகளில் ஈடுபடக்கூடாது என்றும் எழுதியிருக்கிறோம்” என்றார்கள்.
But with respect to the Gentiles that believe, we have written; having decided that they should observe no such thing; but that they keep themselves from things sacrificed to idols, and from blood, and from what is strangled, and from lewdness.
26 மறுநாள் பவுல் அவர்களைக் கூட்டிக்கொண்டுபோய், அவர்களுடனே தானும் பாரம்பரிய முறைப்படி தன்னைச் சுத்திகரித்துக் கொண்டான். பின்பு அவன் சுத்திகரிப்புக்கான நாட்கள் எப்பொழுது முடிவடையும் என்றும், அவர்கள் ஒவ்வொருவருக்குமான காணிக்கை எப்பொழுது செலுத்தப்படும் என்றும் அறிவிப்பதற்கு ஆலயத்திற்குப் போனான்.
Then Paul took the men, and, on the following day, joining in their vow of abstinence, he entered the temple, and gave notice when the days of abstinence would be completed, at which time an offering should be made for each of them.
27 அந்த ஏழு நாட்கள் முடியப்போகும் வேளையில், ஆசியா பகுதியைச் சேர்ந்த சில யூதர்கள் பவுலை ஆலயத்தில் கண்டார்கள். அவர்கள் அங்கு கூடியிருந்த மக்களைத் தூண்டியெழுப்பி, பவுலைப் பிடித்தார்கள்.
And when the seven days were about to be completed, the Jews from Asia, seeing him in the temple, threw all the multitude into confusion, and laid their hands on him,
28 அவர்கள் சத்தமிட்டு, “இஸ்ரயேலரே, எங்களுக்கு உதவிசெய்யுங்கள்! நமது மக்களுக்கும், மோசேயின் சட்டத்திற்கும், இந்த இடத்திற்கும் விரோதமாக, எல்லா இடங்களிலும் எல்லா மக்களுக்கும் போதிக்கிறவன் இவன்தான். இவன் ஆலயத்திற்குள்ளே கிரேக்கரையும் கொண்டுவந்து, இந்தப் பரிசுத்த இடத்தையும் தூய்மைக் கேடாக்கிவிட்டான்” என்றார்கள்.
crying out: Men of Israel, help! this is the man who teaches all men every where against this people, and the law, and this place: and besides, he has even brought Greeks into the temple, and defiled this holy place.
29 ஏனெனில் அவர்கள் எபேசியனான துரோப்பீமும், பவுலுடனே பட்டணத்தில் இருந்ததை முன்பு கண்டிருந்தார்கள். இதனால் பவுல், அவனையும் ஆலயத்திற்குள் கூட்டிக்கொண்டு வந்திருப்பான் என்று அவர்கள் நினைத்தார்கள்.
For, before this time, they had seen Trophimus, the Ephesian, with him in the city, whom they supposed Paul had brought into the temple.
30 முழுப்பட்டணமும் குழப்பமடைந்தது, எல்லாப் பகுதிகளிலும் இருந்த மக்கள் அங்கு ஓடிவந்தார்கள். அவர்கள் பவுலைப் பிடித்து, ஆலயத்திலிருந்து இழுத்துக்கொண்டு சென்றார்கள். உடனே ஆலயத்தின் கதவுகள் பூட்டப்பட்டன.
And the whole city was moved; and the people ran together, and, seizing Paul, they dragged him out of the temple, and the gates were immediately closed.
31 அவர்கள் அவனைக் கொலைசெய்ய முயற்சிக்கையில் எருசலேம் நகரம் முழுவதும் குழப்பம் அடைந்திருக்கிறது என்ற செய்தி ரோமப் படைத்தளபதிக்கு எட்டியது.
And while they were seeking to kill him, report was brought to the officer of the band, that the whole of Jerusalem was in an uproar.
32 அவன் உடனடியாகச் சில அதிகாரிகளையும், படைவீரரையும் கூட்டிக்கொண்டு மக்கள் கூட்டத்தை நோக்கி ஓடிவந்தான். குழப்பம் விளைவித்தவர்கள் படைத்தளபதியையும் படைவீரர்களையும் கண்டபோது, பவுலை அடிப்பதை நிறுத்திவிட்டார்கள்.
And he immediately took soldiers and centurions, and ran down to them. When they saw the officer and the soldiers, they ceased beating Paul.
33 படைத்தளபதி வந்து அவனைக் கைதுசெய்து, அவனை இரண்டு சங்கிலிகளினால் கட்டும்படி உத்தரவிட்டான். பின்பு அவன், இவன் யார் என்றும், என்ன செய்தான் என்றும் விசாரித்தான்.
Then the officer came near and took him, and commanded him to be bound with two chains, and demanded who he was, and what he had done.
34 மக்கள் கூட்டத்திலிருந்த சிலர் சத்தமிட்டு ஏதோ ஒன்றைச் சொன்னார்கள். மற்றவர்கள் வேறு எதையோ சொன்னார்கள். ஏற்பட்டிருந்த குழப்பத்தினால், படைத்தளபதிக்கு உண்மையை அறியமுடியவில்லை. எனவே அவன் பவுலைப் படையினரின் முகாமுக்குக் கொண்டுசெல்லும்படி உத்தரவிட்டான்.
And some in the multitude cried out one thing, and some another. But not being able to obtain any certain knowledge on account of the tumult, he commanded him to be led into the fortress.
35 பவுல் படிக்கட்டுகளை அடைந்தபோது, கலகக்காரரை அடக்க முடியாதிருந்ததால், பவுலை படைவீரர் தூக்கிச் செல்ல வேண்டியிருந்தது.
And when he was on the steps, it happened that he was carried by the soldiers, on account of the violence of the multitude.
36 பின்னாலே சென்ற மக்கள் கூட்டம், “அவனைக் கொல்லுங்கள்” என்று சத்தமிட்டார்கள்.
For the greater part of the people followed, crying out: Away with him!
37 படைவீரர் பவுலை முகாமுக்குள் கொண்டுசெல்ல முயலுகையில், அவன் படைத்தளபதியிடம், “நான் உம்முடன் கொஞ்சம் பேசலாமா?” என்று கேட்டான். அதற்கு அவன், “உனக்கு கிரேக்க மொழி தெரியுமா?
But as Paul was about to be led into the fortress, he said to the officer: May I speak to you? He replied: Do you understand Greek?
38 சிறிது காலத்துக்குமுன் ஒரு கிளர்ச்சியை ஏற்படுத்தி, நாலாயிரம் பயங்கரவாதிகளை பாலைவனத்திற்கு வழிநடத்திப்போன எகிப்தியன் நீ தானா?” என்று கேட்டான்.
Are you not that Egyptian, who, before these days, made an insurrection, and led out into the wilderness four thousand men of the Assassins?
39 அதற்குப் பவுல், “நான் ஒரு யூதன், சிலிசியா நாட்டைச் சேர்ந்த தர்சு பட்டணத்தைச் சேர்ந்தவன். ஒரு பிரபலமான பட்டணத்தின் குடிமகன். தயவுசெய்து இந்த மக்களுடன் நான் பேச என்னை அனுமதியும்” என்றான்.
But Paul replied: I am a Jew of Tarsus of Cilicia, a citizen of no unknown city; and I beseech you, permit me to speak to the people.
40 படைத்தளபதியின் அனுமதியைப் பெற்றுக்கொண்டு, பவுல் படிக்கட்டுகளில் நின்று கூடியிருந்த மக்களுக்கு சைகை காட்டினான். அவர்கள் அனைவரும் அமைதியடைந்தபோது, அவன் எபிரெய மொழியில் அவர்களுடன் பேசத் தொடங்கினான்.
And when he had given him permission, Paul, standing upon the steps, waved his hand to the people. And when there was great silence, he addressed them in the Hebrew language, saying:
