அப்போஸ்தலர் 19
1 அப்பொல்லோ கொரிந்து பட்டணத்தில் இருந்தபோது பவுல் தரைவழியாகப் பிரயாணம் செய்து, எபேசு பட்டணத்திற்கு வந்தான். அங்கே பவுல் சில சீடர்களைக் கண்டான்.
And it came to pass, while Apollos was at Corinth, that Paul, after passing through the upper districts, came to Ephesus, and finding certain disciples,
2 அவன் அவர்களிடம், “நீங்கள் விசுவாசிகளானபோது, பரிசுத்த ஆவியானவரைப் பெற்றீர்களா?” என்று கேட்டான். அதற்கு அவர்கள், “பரிசுத்த ஆவியானவர் ஒருவர் இருக்கிறார் என்றுகூட நாங்கள் கேள்விப்படவில்லை” என்றார்கள்.
said to them: Have you received the Holy Spirit since you believed? They said to him: We have not only not received it, but we have not even heard whether the Holy Spirit is given.
3 அப்பொழுது பவுல், “அப்படியானால், நீங்கள் எந்த திருமுழுக்கைப் பெற்றீர்கள்?” என்று கேட்டான். அதற்கு அவர்கள், “யோவானுடைய திருமுழுக்கு” என்றார்கள்.
And he said to them: Into what, then, were you immersed? They replied: Into John’s immersion.
4 எனவே பவுல், “யோவானின் திருமுழுக்கு மனந்திரும்புதலின் திருமுழுக்கே. அவன் மக்களிடம், எனக்குப் பின்வருகிறவரான இயேசுவிலேயே நீங்கள் விசுவாசம் வைக்கவேண்டும் என்று சொன்னான்” என்றான்.
And Paul said: John immersed with the immersion of repentance, saying to the people, that they must believe on him who should come after him, that is, on the Christ, Jesus.
5 அவர்கள் இதைக் கேட்டு, கர்த்தராகிய இயேசுவின் பெயரில் திருமுழுக்குப் பெற்றார்கள்.
And when they heard this, they were immersed into the name of the Lord Jesus.
6 பின்பு பவுல், அவர்கள்மேல் தனது கைகளை வைத்தபோது, பரிசுத்த ஆவியானவர் அவர்கள்மேல் இறங்கினார். அவர்கள் வேற்று மொழிகளைப் பேசி, இறைவாக்கு உரைத்தார்கள்.
And when Paul laid his hands on them, the Holy Spirit came upon them, and they spoke with tongues, and prophesied.
7 அங்கே ஏறக்குறைய, பன்னிரண்டு பேர் இருந்தார்கள்.
And all the men were about twelve.
8 பவுல் ஜெப ஆலயத்திற்குள் சென்று துணிவுடன் பேசினான். அங்கே மூன்று மாதங்களாக இறைவனுடைய அரசைக் குறித்து மக்கள் ஏற்றுக்கொள்ளக்கூடிய விதத்தில் விவாதித்துக் கொண்டிருந்தான்.
And he entered the synagogue, and spoke boldly, reasoning, and persuading them for three months, with respect to the things of the kingdom of God.
9 ஆனால் அவர்களில் சிலர் பிடிவாதமுள்ளவர்களாகி, விசுவாசிக்க மறுத்தார்கள்; அவர்கள் வெளிப்படையாக கிறிஸ்துவின் வழியைக் குறித்துத் தீமையாய்ப் பேசினார்கள். எனவே பவுல் சீடரைத் தன்னுடன் கூட்டிக்கொண்டு அவ்விடத்தை விட்டுப்போய், திறன்னு என்பவனின் கல்விக் கூடத்திலே, ஒவ்வொரு நாளும் கலந்துரையாடல்களை நடத்தினான்.
But as some were hardened, and did not believe, and spoke evil of that way before the multitude, he withdrew from them, and separated the disciples, and discoursed daily in the school of one Tyrannus.
10 இது இரண்டு வருடங்களாக தொடர்ந்து நடைபெற்றது. இதனால், ஆசியா பகுதியில் வாழ்ந்த யூதர்கள், கிரேக்கர் அனைவரும் கர்த்தரின் வார்த்தையைக் கேட்டார்கள்.
This continued for two years; so that all that dwelt in Asia heard the word of the Lord, both Jews and Greeks.
11 இறைவன் பவுலைக் கொண்டு மிகப்பெரிதான அற்புதங்களைச் செய்தார்.
Mighty deeds, also, that were unusual, did God perform by the hands of Paul;
12 பவுலின் உடலில் தொடப்பட்ட கைக்குட்டைகளையும், மேலுடைகளையும் கொண்டுபோய் நோயாளிகளின்மேல் போட்டபோது, அவர்களுடைய வியாதிகள் சுகமடைந்தன. தீய ஆவிகள் அவர்களைவிட்டு வெளியேறின.
so that handkerchiefs or aprons were carried from his body to the sick, and diseases departed from them, and the evil spirits came out of them.
13 பல்வேறு இடங்களுக்குப் போய் அசுத்த ஆவிகளை துரத்தும் சில யூதர்கள், பிசாசு பிடித்தவர்கள்மேல் கர்த்தராகிய இயேசுவின் பெயரை பயன்படுத்த முயன்றார்கள். அவர்கள், “பவுல் பிரசங்கிக்கிற இயேசுவின் பெயராலே, வெளியே போகும்படி நான் கட்டளையிடுகிறேன்” என்று சொல்லியே துரத்தினார்கள்.
And some of the roving Jews, who were exorcists, undertook to pronounce the name of the Lord Jesus over those who had evil spirits, saying: I adjure you by the Jesus whom Paul preaches.
14 யூத பிரதான ஆசாரியனான ஸ்கேவாவின் ஏழு மகன்களே, இவ்வாறு செய்தார்கள்.
And there were seven sons of Sceva, a Jewish chief priest, who did this.
15 அந்த அசுத்த ஆவி அவர்களிடம், “இயேசுவை எனக்குத் தெரியும், பவுலையும் எனக்குத் தெரியும், ஆனால் நீங்கள் யார்?” என்று திருப்பிக் கேட்டது.
But the evil spirit answered and said: Jesus I acknowledge, and Paul I know; but who are you?
16 பின்பு அசுத்த ஆவியுள்ள மனிதன் அவர்கள்மேல் பாய்ந்து, அவர்கள் எல்லோரையும் மேற்கொண்டான். அவன் அவர்களை அதிகமாக அடித்ததினால், அவர்கள் அந்த வீட்டைவிட்டு இரத்தக் காயங்களுடன் உடைகளின்றி ஓடிப்போனார்கள்.
And the man in whom the evil spirit was, leaped on them, and overpowered them, and prevailed against them, so that they fled from that house, naked and wounded.
17 எபேசு பட்டணத்திலுள்ள யூதரும் கிரேக்கரும் இதை அறிந்தபோது, அவர்கள் எல்லோருக்கும் பயமுண்டாயிற்று. கர்த்தராகிய இயேசுவின் பெயர் மகிமைப்பட்டது.
And this became known to all the Greeks and Jews that dwelt in Ephesus; and fear fell upon them all, and the name of the Lord Jesus was magnified.
18 விசுவாசித்த பலர் முன்வந்து, தாங்கள் செய்த தீயசெயல்களை வெளியரங்கமாக அறிக்கையிட்டார்கள்.
And many of those who believed came and confessed, and made known their practices.
19 மந்திரவித்தையில் ஈடுபட்டிருந்த பலர் தங்களுடைய புத்தகச்சுருள்களைக் கொண்டுவந்து வெளியரங்கமாக எரித்தார்கள். அந்தப் புத்தகச்சுருள்களின் மதிப்பை அவர்கள் கணக்கிட்டபோது, ஐம்பதாயிரம் வெள்ளிக்காசு மதிப்புடையதாய் இருந்தது.
And many of those who practiced magic, brought together their books, and burned them, in the presence of all. And they computed their value, and found it fifty thousand pieces of silver.
20 இவ்விதமாய், கர்த்தரின் வார்த்தை எங்கும் பரவி வல்லமையாய்ப் பெருகியது.
So mightily did the word of the Lord grow and prevail.
21 இவையெல்லாம் நடந்தபின்பு, பவுல் மக்கெதோனியா அகாயா நாடுகள் வழியாக எருசலேமுக்குப் போகத் தீர்மானித்தான். “நான் அங்கு போனபின், ரோமுக்கும் போகவேண்டும்” என்று சொன்னான்.
When these things had been accomplished, Paul purposed in spirit to go to Jerusalem, after he should pass through Macedonia and Achaia, saying: After I have been there, I must see Rome also.
22 அவன் தனது உதவியாளர்களில் தீமோத்தேயு, எரஸ்து ஆகிய இருவரையும் மக்கெதோனியாவுக்கு அனுப்பினான். அவனோ ஆசியாவின் பகுதியிலே, இன்னும் சிறிதுகாலம் தங்கினான்.
So, having sent into Macedonia two of those who ministered to him, Timothy and Erastus, he remained for a time in Asia.
23 அக்காலத்தில் கிறிஸ்துவின் வழியைக் குறித்து ஒரு பெரிய குழப்பம் உண்டாயிற்று.
And at that time there was no little excitement about that way.
24 தெமேத்திரியு என்னும் பெயருள்ள ஒரு தட்டான் இருந்தான். அவன் அர்த்தமிஸ் தேவதையின் கோவிலை வெள்ளியினால் வடிவமைத்து, அந்தத் தொழிலைச் செய்பவர்களுக்கு நல்ல வியாபாரத்தை ஏற்படுத்திக் கொடுத்திருந்தான்.
For a certain man, named Demetrius, a silversmith, by making silver shrines for Diana, furnished no little trade to the artists.
25 அவன் அந்தத் தொழில் செய்கிறவர்களையும், இந்த வியாபாரத்தில் சம்பந்தப்பட்ட தொழிலாளர்களையும் ஒன்றுகூட்டி அவர்களிடம், “மனிதரே, இந்த வியாபாரத்திலிருந்து, நாம் நல்ல வருமானத்தைப் பெற்றுவருகிறோம் என்பது உங்களுக்குத் தெரியும்.
These he called together, with the workmen employed about such things, and said: Men, you know that our wealth arises from this trade:
26 இந்தப் பவுல் என்பவன், கைகளினால் செய்யப்பட்டவை தெய்வங்கள் அல்ல என்று சொல்லி பெருந்திரளான மக்களை நம்பப்பண்ணி, தன் பக்கமாகத் திரும்பச் செய்திருக்கிறான். எபேசுவில் மட்டுமல்ல, முழு ஆசியா பகுதியிலும் அவன் இப்படிச் செய்திருக்கிறான். இதை நீங்கள் கண்டும், கேட்டும் இருக்கிறீர்கள்.
and you see and hear, that not only at Ephesus, but throughout almost the whole of Asia, this Paul, by his persuasions, has drawn away a great multitude, saying, that they which are made with hands are not gods.
27 நம் வியாபாரத்தின் நற்பெயருக்கு இழுக்கு ஏற்படும் ஆபத்து உருவாகியிருக்கிறது மட்டுமல்ல, மாபெரும் தேவதையான அர்த்தமிஸின் கோவில் மதிப்பிழந்தும் போகப்போகிறது. ஆசியா முழுவதிலும், உலகமெங்கும் வணங்கப்படும் அந்தத் தேவதையின் மகத்துவமும் இல்லாது போய்விடும்” என்றான்.
Now there is danger, not only that this our calling will come into disgrace, but that the temple of the great goddess Diana will be despised, and that the majesty of her whom all Asia and the world worships, will be destroyed.
28 அவர்கள் இதைக் கேட்டபோது, மிகவும் கோபங்கொண்டு, “எபேசியரின் அர்த்தமிஸ் தேவதையே வாழ்க!” என்று சத்தமிட்டார்கள்.
When they heard this, they were full of anger, and cried out, saying: Great is Diana of the Ephesians!
29 உடனேயே முழுப்பட்டணமும் கலவரமடைந்தது. கூடியிருந்த மக்களோ, பவுலுடன் பயணம் செய்தவர்களான மக்கெதோனியாவைச் சேர்ந்த காயு, அரிஸ்தர்க்கு என்பவர்களைப் பிடித்துக்கொண்டார்கள். மக்கள் இவர்களை இழுத்துக்கொண்டு, ஒருமிக்க அரங்க மண்டபத்திற்குள் கொண்டுசென்றார்கள்.
And the whole city was filled with confusion. And they seized Gains and Aristarchus, who were Macedonians, Paul’s fellow-travelers, and, with one consent, rushed into the theater.
30 பவுல் மக்கள் கூட்டத்தின்முன் போய் அவர்களுடன் பேச விரும்பினான். ஆனால் சீடரோ, அவனைப் போகவிடவில்லை.
And when Paul wished to go in among the people, the disciples did not permit him.
31 பவுலின் நண்பர்களான அந்த மாநிலத்தின் அதிகாரிகளில் சிலரும்கூட அவனை அரங்க மண்டபத்திற்குள் போகவேண்டாம் என்று கூறி, அவனுக்குச் செய்தியனுப்பினார்கள்.
Some of the Asiarchs also, who were friendly to him, sent to him, and besought him not to trust himself into the theater.
32 அங்கே கூடியிருந்த மக்கள் மிகக் குழப்பமடைந்திருந்தார்கள்; சிலர் ஏதோ சொல்லிச் சத்தமிட்டார்கள், மற்றவர்கள் வேறு ஏதோ சொல்லிச் சத்தமிட்டார்கள். அவர்களில் அநேகருக்குத் தாங்கள் ஏன் அங்கு வந்தார்கள் என்பதுகூட தெரிந்திருக்கவில்லை.
Some, therefore, were crying one thing, and some another: for the assembly was confused, and the greater part knew not for what they had come together.
33 யூதரோ, அலெக்சந்தர் என்பவனை கூட்டத்திற்குமுன் தள்ளிவிட்டார்கள். ஜனக்கூட்டத்திலுள்ள சிலர் அவனைப் பார்த்து சத்தமிட்டார்கள். அவன் மக்களை மவுனமாய் இருக்கும்படி சைகை காட்டி, அவர்களுக்குத் தமது சார்பான நியாயத்தை எடுத்துக்கூற முயற்சித்தான்.
And some of the multitude put Alexander forward, the Jews urging him on. And Alexander waved his hand, and wished to make a defense to the people.
34 ஆனால் அவன் ஒரு யூதன் என்று அவர்கள் அறிந்தபோது, அவர்கள் இரண்டு மணிநேரம், “எபேசியர்களின் அர்த்தமிஸ் தேவதையே வாழ்க!” என்று ஒரே குரலில் சத்தமிட்டார்கள்.
But perceiving that he was a Jew, they all cried out, with one voice, for about two hours: Great is Diana of the Ephesians.
35 அந்த நகரத்தின் ஆணையாளர், மக்கள் கூட்டத்தை அமைதிப்படுத்தி அவர்களிடம், “எபேசு பட்டணத்தாரே, பெரிதான அர்த்தமிஸ் உருவச்சிலை வானத்திலிருந்து விழுந்தது என்பதையும், இந்த தேவதைக்கும் உருவச்சிலைக்கும், எபேசு பட்டணமே பாதுகாப்பு இடமாக இருக்கிறது என்பதையும் இந்த முழு உலகமும் அறியுமே.
But the town-clerk quieted the multitude, and said: Men of Ephesus, what man is there who does not know that the city of the Ephesians is a worshiper of the great Diana, and of the image that fell down from Jupiter?
36 இவை மறுக்கமுடியாத உண்மைகளாய் இருப்பதனால், நீங்கள் முன்யோசனையின்றி எதையுமே செய்யாமல், அமைதியாய் இருக்கவேண்டும்.
As these things, then, can not be contradicted, you ought to be quiet, and do nothing rashly.
37 நீங்கள் இந்த மனிதரை இங்கு கொண்டுவந்திருக்கிறீர்கள். ஆனால் இவர்களோ, ஆலயங்களைக் கொள்ளையடிக்கவும் இல்லை, நமது தேவதையை அவதூறாய் பேசவும் இல்லை.
For you have brought these men here, who are neither robbers of temples, nor revilers of your goddess.
38 எனவே தெமேத்திரியுவுக்கும், அவனுடைய உடன் தொழிலாளிகளுக்கும், யார் மீதாவது ஒரு வழக்கு இருக்குமானால், அதற்காக நீதிமன்றங்கள் திறந்தே இருக்கின்றன. அங்கே அதிபதிகளும் இருக்கிறார்கள். எனவே அவர்கள் தங்கள் குற்றச்சாட்டுகளை அங்கே எடுத்துச் சொல்லட்டும்.
Therefore, if Demetrius, and the artists who are with him, have a charge against any one, the courts are in session, and the proconsuls are there; let them accuse each other.
39 இதைவிட வேறு ஏதாவது உங்களுக்கிருந்தால், அது சட்ட மன்றம் கூடியே தீர்த்துக்கொள்ளப்பட வேண்டும்.
But if you have any inquiries to make about other matters, it shall be determined in a lawful assembly.
40 இப்பொழுது இன்று நடந்த இந்த சம்பவத்தினால், நாமே கலகம் செய்ததாக குற்றம் சாட்டப்படக்கூடிய ஒரு ஆபத்தில் இருக்கிறோம். அவ்வாறு குற்றஞ்சாட்டினால், இந்தக் கலகம் நியாயமானது எனக் காட்டுவதற்கு நம்மால் முடியாது, ஏனெனில், நாம் சொல்லக்கூடிய காரணம் எதுவும் இல்லை” என்றான்.
For we are in danger of being called to answer for this day’s tumult, since there is no cause by which we shall be able to account for this concourse.
41 அவன் இதைச் சொல்லி முடித்தபின்பு, கூடியிருந்தவர்களைக் கலைந்து போகும்படி செய்தான்.
And when he had said these things, he dismissed the assembly.
