அப்போஸ்தலர் 13

1 அந்தியோகியாவில் இருந்த திருச்சபையிலே இறைவாக்கினரும், ஆசிரியரும் இருந்தார்கள். பர்னபா, நீகர் எனப்பட்ட சிமியோன், சிரேனேயைச் சேர்ந்த லூசியஸ், அரசனான ஏரோதுவுடன் வளர்ந்த மனாயீன், சவுல் ஆகியோரே இவர்கள்.

Among the members of the church at Antioch there were several prophets and teachers – Barnabas, Simeon who was known by the name of ‘Black’, Lucius of Cyrene, Manaen, foster-brother of Prince Herod, and Saul.

2 அவர்கள் கர்த்தரை வழிபட்டு உபவாசித்துக்கொண்டிருக்கையில், பரிசுத்த ஆவியானவர் அவர்களிடம், “நான் அவர்களை அழைத்த ஊழியத்திற்காக பர்னபாவையும் சவுலையும் எனக்கென வேறுபிரித்துவிடுங்கள்” என்றார்.

While they were engaged in the worship of the Lord and were fasting, the Holy Spirit said, “Set apart for me Barnabas and Saul, for the work to which I have called them.”

3 எனவே அவர்கள் உபவாசித்து மன்றாடியபின், தங்கள் கைகளை அந்த இருவர்மேலும் வைத்து, அவர்களை அனுப்பிவிட்டார்கள்.

Accordingly, after fasting and prayer, they placed their hands on them and dismissed them.

4 அவர்கள் இருவரும் பரிசுத்த ஆவியானவரால் வழியனுப்பப்பட்டு, செலூக்கியாவுக்குப்போய், அங்கிருந்து கப்பல் மூலமாய் சீப்புரு தீவுக்குச் சென்றார்கள்.

Barnabas and Saul, sent on this mission, as they were, by the Holy Spirit, went down to Seleucia, and from there sailed to Cyprus.

5 அவர்கள் சலாமி பட்டணத்திற்கு வந்து சேர்ந்தபோது, அங்குள்ள யூத ஜெப ஆலயங்களில் இறைவனுடைய வார்த்தையை அறிவித்தார்கள். மாற்கு எனப்பட்ட யோவான், அவர்களோடு அவர்களின் உதவியாளனாய் இருந்தான்.

On reaching Salamis, they began to tell the message of God in the Jewish synagogues; and they had John with them as an assistant.

6 அவர்கள் அந்தத் தீவு முழுவதும் பிரயாணம் செய்து, பாப்போ பட்டணத்திற்கு வந்தார்கள். அங்கே அவர்கள் ஒரு யூத மந்திரவாதியும், பொய் தீர்க்கதரிசியுமான பர்யேசு என்னும் ஒருவனைச் சந்தித்தார்கள்.

After passing through the whole island, they reached Paphos, where they found an astrologer who pretended to be a prophet – a Jew by birth, whose name was Barjoshua.

7 அவன் செர்கியுபவுல் என்னும் அதிபதியின் உதவியாளனாய் இருந்தான். அறிவாற்றல் உள்ளவனான அந்த அதிபதி, இறைவனுடைய வார்த்தையைக் கேட்க விரும்பியதால், பர்னபாவையும் சவுலையும் அழைத்துவர ஆளனுப்பினான்.

He was at the court of the Governor, Sergius Paulus, a man of intelligence, who sent for Barnabas and Saul and asked to be told God’s message.

8 ஆனால் மந்திரவாதி எலிமா அவர்களை எதிர்த்து நின்று, அந்த அதிபதி விசுவாசிக்காதபடி தடைசெய்ய முயற்சித்தான். எலிமா என்பது மந்திரவாதி என்ற அவனது பெயரின் அர்த்தமாகும்.

But Elymas, the astrologer (for that is the meaning of the word), opposed them, eager to divert the Governor’s attention from the faith.

9 அப்பொழுது பவுல் என்று அழைக்கப்பட்ட சவுல் பரிசுத்த ஆவியானவரால் நிரப்பப்பட்டு, நேரே எலிமாவைப் பார்த்துச் சொன்னதாவது,

However, Saul (who is the same as Paul), full of the Holy Spirit, fixed his eyes on him and said,

10 “பிசாசின் பிள்ளையே, எல்லா நீதிக்கும் பகைவனே, நீ எல்லாவித ஏமாற்றுக்களினாலும் தந்திரங்களினாலும் நிறைந்திருக்கிறாய். கர்த்தருடைய நேர்வழிகளைப் புரட்டுவதை நீ ஒருபோதும் நிறுத்தமாட்டாயோ?

“You incarnation of deceit and all fraud! You son of the devil! You opponent of all that is good! Will you never cease to divert the straight paths of the Lord? Listen!

11 இப்பொழுதே, கர்த்தருடைய கரம் உனக்கு எதிராய் இருக்கிறது. நீ இப்பொழுது குருடனாகி கொஞ்சக் காலத்திற்கு சூரிய வெளிச்சத்தைக் காணமாட்டாய்” என்றான். உடனே அவன் பார்வை மங்கியது, இருளும் சூழ்ந்தது. அவன் கைகளினால் தடவி, தன் கையைப் பிடித்து நடத்துவதற்கு ஒருவனைத் தேடினான்.

The hand of the Lord is on you even now, and you will be blind for a time and unable to see the sun.” Immediately a mist and darkness fell on him, and he went feeling about for someone to guide him.

12 நடந்ததை அந்த அதிபதி கண்டபோது, அவன் கர்த்தருடைய போதனையைக்குறித்து வியப்படைந்து விசுவாசித்தான்.

When the Governor saw what had happened, he became a believer in Christ, being greatly impressed by the teaching about the Lord.

13 பாப்போ பட்டணத்திலிருந்து, பவுலும் அவனுடைய கூட்டாளிகளும் கப்பல் மூலமாய் பம்பிலியாவிலுள்ள பெர்கேவுக்குச் சென்றார்கள். யோவான் எருசலேமுக்குத் திரும்பிப் போவதற்காக அங்கிருந்து அவர்களைவிட்டுப் போனான்.

After this, Paul and his companions set sail from Paphos and went to Perga in Pamphylia, where John left them and returned to Jerusalem.

14 அவர்கள் பெர்கேவிலிருந்து பிசீதியாவைச் சேர்ந்த அந்தியோகியாவுக்குச் சென்றார்கள். ஓய்வுநாளிலே அவர்கள் ஜெப ஆலயத்திற்குள்ளே போய் உட்கார்ந்தார்கள்.

The others went on from Perga and arrived at Antioch in Pisidia. There they went into the synagogue on the Sabbath and took their seats.

15 மோசேயின் சட்டமும், இறைவாக்குகளும் வாசிக்கப்பட்ட பின்பு, ஜெப ஆலயத் தலைவர்கள் அவர்களுக்குச் செய்தி அனுப்பி, “சகோதரரே, மக்களை உற்சாகப்படுத்தக்கூடிய செய்தி உங்களிடம் இருந்தால், நீங்கள் பேசுங்கள்” என்றார்கள்.

After the reading of the Law and the prophets, the synagogue leader sent them this message – “Friends, if you have any helpful words to address to the people, now is the time to speak.”

16 பவுல் எழுந்து, தன் கையால் அவர்களுக்கு சைகை காட்டிச் சொன்னதாவது: “இஸ்ரயேல் மக்களே, இறைவனுக்குப் பயப்படுகிற மக்களே, எனக்குச் செவிகொடுங்கள்.

So Paul rose and, motioning with his hand, said: “People of Israel and all here who worship God, hear what I have to say.

17 இஸ்ரயேல் மக்களின் இறைவன், நமது தந்தையரைத் தெரிந்துகொண்டார்; அவர் அந்த மக்களை, அவர்கள் எகிப்தில் தங்கியிருந்த காலத்தில் செழிப்படையச் செய்தார். பின்பு அவர் தம்முடைய மிகுந்த வல்லமையினால், அந்த நாட்டிலிருந்து அவர்களை வெளியே கொண்டுவந்தார்.

The God of this people Israel chose our ancestors, and during their stay in Egypt increased the prosperity of the people, and then with uplifted arm brought them out from that land.

18 ஏறக்குறைய நாற்பது வருடங்களாக பாலைவனத்திலே அவர்களின் நடத்தையைச் சகித்துக்கொண்டார்.

For about forty years he bore with them in the desert;

19 கானானில் இருந்த ஏழு நாட்டு மக்களை மேற்கொண்டு, அவர்களுடைய நாட்டைத் தமது மக்களுக்கு உரிமைச்சொத்தாகக் கொடுத்தார்.

then, after destroying seven heathen nations in Canaan, he allotted their land to this people –

20 இவையெல்லாம் நடந்து முடிய நானூற்றைம்பது வருடங்கள் ஆயிற்று. “இதற்குப்பின், இறைவாக்கினன் சாமுயேலின் காலம்வரைக்கும், இறைவன் அவர்களுக்கு நீதிபதிகளைக் கொடுத்தார்.

For about four hundred and fifty years. In later times he gave them Judges, of whom the prophet Samuel was the last.

21 பின்பு மக்கள் தங்களுக்கு ஒரு அரசனைத் தரும்படி கேட்டார்கள். அப்பொழுது இறைவன் பென்யமீன் கோத்திரத்தைச் சேர்ந்த கீசுவின் மகனான சவுலை அவர்களுக்கு அரசனாகக் கொடுத்தார். அவன் நாற்பது ஆண்டுகள் ஆட்சிசெய்தான்.

And, when they demanded a king, God gave them Saul the son of Kish, a man of the tribe of Benjamin, who reigned for forty years.

22 இறைவன் சவுலை நீக்கியபின், தாவீதை அவர்களுக்கு அரசனாக ஏற்படுத்தினார்.” இறைவன் தாவீதைக்குறித்து சாட்சியாக: “ஈசாயின் மகனான தாவீது என் இருதயத்திற்கு உகந்த மனிதனாய் இருப்பதை நான் கண்டேன்; அவன் செய்யவேண்டும் என்று நான் விரும்பின எல்லாவற்றையும் அவன் செய்வான்” என்று சொன்னார்.

After removing him, he raised David to the throne, and bore this testimony to him – ‘In David, the son of Jesse, I have found a man after my own heart, who will carry out all my purposes.’

23 “தாவீதினுடைய சந்ததியிலே, அவர் வாக்குப்பண்ணியபடி, இயேசு என்னும் இரட்சகரை, இஸ்ரயேலுக்கு இறைவன் கொண்டுவந்தார்.

It was from this man’s descendants that God, in accordance with his promise, gave Israel a Savior – Jesus;

24 இயேசுவின் வருகைக்கு முன்னதாக, எல்லா இஸ்ரயேல் மக்களுக்கும் மனந்திரும்புதலைக்குறித்தும் திருமுழுக்கைக்குறித்தும் யோவான் ஸ்நானகன் பிரசங்கித்தான்.

John having first proclaimed, before the appearance of Jesus, a baptism on repentance for all the people of Israel.

25 யோவான் தனது ஊழியத்தை நிறைவேற்றியபோது, அவன் சொன்னதாவது: ‘நான் யாரென்று நீங்கள் நினைக்கிறீர்கள்? நான் அவர் அல்ல. அவர் எனக்குப்பின் வருகிறார். அவருடைய பாதரட்சையை அவிழ்ப்பதற்கும் நான் தகுதியற்றவன்.’

As John was drawing towards the end of his career, he said ‘What do you suppose that I am? I am not the Christ. But there is “one coming” after me, whose sandal I am not worthy to untie.’

26 “சகோதரரே, ஆபிரகாமின் பிள்ளைகளே, இறைவனுக்குப் பயந்து நடக்கிற யூதரல்லாத மக்களே, இந்த இரட்சிப்பின் செய்தி நமக்கே அனுப்பப்பட்டிருக்கிறது.

Brothers and sisters, descendants of Abraham, and all those among you who worship God, it was to us that the message of this salvation was sent.

27 எருசலேமின் மக்களும், அவர்களுடைய ஆளுநர்களும், இயேசுவை யாரெனப் புரிந்துகொள்ளவில்லை. ஆனால் அவருக்கு மரணதண்டனையைக் கொடுத்ததின் மூலம், ஒவ்வொரு ஓய்வுநாளிலும் வாசிக்கப்படும் இறைவாக்கினரின் வார்த்தைகளை நிறைவேற்றிவிட்டார்கள்.

The people of Jerusalem and their leaders, failing to recognize Jesus, and not understanding the utterances of the prophets that are read every Sabbath, fulfilled them by condemning him.

28 இயேசுவுக்கு மரண தண்டனை கொடுக்கக்கூடிய தகுந்த ஆதாரம் எதுவும் கிடைக்காத போதுங்கூட, அவருக்கு மரணத்தீர்ப்பே கொடுக்கப்படவேண்டும் என்று அவர்கள் பிலாத்துவைக் கேட்டுக்கொண்டார்கள்.

They found no ground at all for putting him to death, and yet demanded his execution from Pilate;

29 இயேசுவைக்குறித்து வேதத்தில் எழுதியிருப்பதையெல்லாம் அவர்கள் செய்துமுடித்த பின்பு, அவருடைய உடலை சிலுவையிலிருந்து கீழே இறக்கி, அதைக் கல்லறையில் வைத்தார்கள்.

and, after carrying out everything written about him, they took Jesus down from the cross, and laid him in a tomb.

30 ஆனால் இறைவனோ இயேசுவை மரித்தோரிலிருந்து உயிருடன் எழுப்பினார்.

But God raised him from the dead;

31 இயேசுவோடுகூட கலிலேயாவிலிருந்து எருசலேமுக்கு வந்திருந்தவர்களுக்கு பல நாட்கள் அவர் காணப்பட்டார். அவர்கள் இன்று நமது மக்களுக்கு சாட்சிகளாய் இருக்கிறார்கள்.

and he appeared for many days to those who had gone up with him from Galilee to Jerusalem, and who are now witnesses for him to the people.

32 “நாங்கள் உங்களுக்கு நற்செய்தியையே சொல்கிறோம்: இறைவன் நமது தந்தையருக்கு வாக்குப்பண்ணியதை

We also have good news to tell you, about the promise made to our ancestors –

33 இயேசுவை உயிருடன் எழுப்பியதாலேயே அவருடைய பிள்ளைகளாகிய நமக்கென்று நிறைவேற்றியிருக்கிறார். இது இரண்டாம் சங்கீதத்தில் எழுதியிருக்கிறது: “‘நீர் என்னுடைய மகன்; இன்று நான் உமக்குத் தந்தையானேன்.’

That our children have had this promise completely fulfilled to them by God, by his raising Jesus. That is just what is said in the second Psalm – ‘You are my Son; this day I have become your Father.’

34 அவரை இனி ஒருபோதும் அழிவுக்குட்படுத்தாதபடி, இறைவன் அவரை இறந்தோரிலிருந்து எழுப்பினார் என்ற உண்மை, இந்த வேதவசனங்களில் சொல்லப்பட்டிருக்கிறது: “‘தாவீதுக்கு வாக்குத்தத்தம் செய்யப்பட்ட பரிசுத்தமானதும் நிச்சயமானதுமான ஆசீர்வாதங்களை நான் உங்களுக்குத் தருவேன்.’

As to his raising Jesus from the dead, never again to return to corruption, this is what is said – ‘I will give to you the sacred promises made to David;’

35 அப்படியே இது இன்னுமொரு இடத்தில், “‘உமது பரிசுத்தர் அழிவைக் காணவும் நீர் விடமாட்டீர்,’ என்றும் சொல்லப்பட்டிருக்கிறது.

And, therefore, in another Psalm it is said – ‘You will not give up the Holy One to undergo corruption.’

36 “தாவீது இறைவனுடைய நோக்கத்தைத் தன் தலைமுறையினரிடையே செய்து முடித்தபோது, அவன் நித்திரையடைந்தானே; அவன் தனது முற்பிதாக்களுடன் அடக்கம்பண்ணப்பட்டு, அவனது உடலும் அழிந்துபோனது.

David, after obediently doing God’s will in his own time, fell asleep and was laid by the side of his ancestors, and did undergo corruption;

37 ஆனால் இறந்தோரிலிருந்து இறைவனால் உயிரோடு எழுப்பப்பட்டவரோ, அழிவைக் காணவில்லை.

but Jesus, whom God raised from the dead, did not undergo corruption.

38 “ஆகையால் என் சகோதரரே, ‘இயேசுவின் மூலமே உங்கள் பாவங்களுக்கான மன்னிப்பு உண்டு என்று உங்களுக்கு அறிவிக்கப்படுகிறது’ என்பதை நீங்கள் அறிந்துகொள்ளவேண்டும் என நான் விரும்புகிறேன்.

I would, therefore, like you to know, friends, that through Jesus forgiveness of sins is being proclaimed to you,

39 மோசேயினுடைய சட்டத்தின் மூலமாய் நீதிமான்களாக்கப்பட முடியாதிருந்த எல்லாப் பாவங்களிலுமிருந்தும் விடுதலையாகி, இயேசுவை விசுவாசிக்கிற ஒவ்வொருவரும், அவர் மூலமாய் நீதிமான்களாக்கப்படுகிறார்கள்.

and that, in union with him, everyone who believes in him is absolved from every sin from which under the Law of Moses you could not be absolved.

40 ஆனால் இறைவாக்கினர் சொன்னது உங்களுக்கு நடக்காதபடி கவனமாயிருங்கள் என்று பவுல் சொன்னதாவது:

Beware, therefore, that what is said in the prophets does not come true of you –

41 “‘பாருங்கள், ஏளனம் செய்வோரே! அதிசயப்பட்டு சிதறிப்போங்கள். ஏனெனில் உங்கள் நாட்களிலே நான் ஒரு காரியத்தைச் செய்யப்போகிறேன். அதை யாராவது உங்களுக்குச் சொன்னாலும், நீங்கள் ஒருபோதும் நம்பமாட்டீர்கள்.’”

‘Look, you despisers, and wonder, and perish; for I am doing a deed in your days – a deed which, though told you in full, you will never believe’.”

42 பவுலும் பர்னபாவும் ஜெப ஆலயத்தைவிட்டுப் புறப்பட்டபோது, இந்தக் காரியங்களைக்குறித்து அடுத்த ஓய்வுநாளிலேயும் பேசும்படி மக்கள் அவர்களை அழைத்தார்கள்.

As Paul and Barnabas were leaving the synagogue, the people begged for a repetition of this teaching on the next Sabbath.

43 கூடியிருந்த மக்கள் கலைந்துபோனபின், அநேக யூதரும், யூத விசுவாசத்தை பின்பற்றிய பக்தியுள்ளோரும், பவுலையும் பர்னபாவையும் பின்பற்றினார்கள். பவுலும் பர்னபாவும் தங்களோடு வந்தவர்களுடன் பேசி, அவர்களை இறைவனுடைய கிருபையில் தொடர்ந்து இருக்கும்படி உற்சாகப்படுத்தினார்கள்.

After the congregation had dispersed, many of the Jews, and of the converts who joined in their worship, followed Paul and Barnabas, who talked with them and urged them to continue to rely on the loving kindness of God.

44 அடுத்த ஓய்வுநாளிலே ஏறக்குறைய பட்டணத்திலுள்ள அனைவரும் கர்த்தருடைய வார்த்தையைக் கேட்கும்படி கூடியிருந்தார்கள்.

On the following Sabbath, almost all the city gathered to hear God’s message.

45 மக்கள் பெருங்கூட்டமாய் கூடியிருப்பதை யூதர்கள் கண்டபோது, அவர்கள் பொறாமையினால் நிறைந்து, அவர்கள் பவுல் சொல்வதற்கு எதிரிடையாய் பேசி, விரோதித்து தூஷித்தார்கள்.

But the sight of the crowds of people filled the minds of the Jews with jealousy, and they kept contradicting Paul’s statements in violent language.

46 அப்பொழுது பவுலும், பர்னபாவும் துணிவுடன் அவர்களுக்குப் பதிலளித்துச் சொன்னதாவது: “இறைவனுடைய வார்த்தையை நாங்கள் உங்களுடனே முதலாவதாக பேசவேண்டியிருந்தது. ஆனால் நீங்கள் அதைப் புறக்கணித்து, நீங்கள் உங்களை நித்திய வாழ்வுக்குத் தகுதியுள்ளவர்கள் என்று எண்ணாமல் இருக்கிறதினால், நாங்கள் இப்போது யூதரல்லாத மக்களிடம் போகிறோம். Then Paul and Barnabas spoke out fearlessly, and said: “It was necessary that the message of God should be told to you first; but, since you reject it and reckon yourselves not worthy of the eternal life – we turn to the Gentiles! (aiōnios g166)

47 ஏனெனில், கர்த்தர் எங்களுக்குக் கட்டளையிட்டுச் சொன்னது இதுவே: “‘பூமியின் கடைமுனை வரையிலுள்ள அனைவருக்கும் நீ என் இரட்சிப்பைக் கொண்டுசெல்லும்படி, நான் உன்னை யூதரல்லாத மக்களுக்கு ஒரு வெளிச்சமாக ஏற்படுத்தியிருக்கிறேன்.’”

For this is the Lord’s command to us – ‘I have destined you for a light to the Gentiles, a means of salvation to the ends of the earth’.”

48 யூதரல்லாத மக்கள் இதைக் கேட்டபோது, மிகவும் மகிழ்ச்சியடைந்து, கர்த்தரின் வார்த்தையை மேன்மைப்படுத்தினார்கள்; நித்திய ஜீவனுக்கு நியமிக்கப்பட்ட அனைவரும் விசுவாசித்தார்கள். (aiōnios g166)

On hearing this, the Gentiles were glad and extolled God’s message; and all those who had been enrolled for eternal life became believers in Christ; (aiōnios g166)

49 அந்த நாடெங்கும், கர்த்தருடைய வார்த்தை பரவியது.

and the Lord’s message was carried throughout that district.

50 ஆனால் யூதர்கள் பக்தியும், உயர்ந்த மதிப்புக்குரிய பெண்களையும் அந்தப் பட்டணத்திலுள்ள முதன்மைவாய்ந்தவரையும் தூண்டிவிட்டார்கள். அவர்கள் துன்புறுத்தலை ஏற்படுத்தி, பவுலையும் பர்னபாவையும் அந்தப் பகுதியிலிருந்து துரத்திவிட்டார்கள்.

But the Jews incited the women of high social standing who worshiped with them, and the leading men of the town, and started a persecution against Paul and Barnabas, and drove them out of their region.

51 எனவே பவுலும் பர்னபாவும் அவர்களுக்கு எதிர்ப்பு தெரிவிப்பதற்காக, தங்களுடைய காலிலிருந்த தூசியை உதறிவிட்டு, இக்கோனியா பட்டணத்திற்குச் சென்றார்கள்.

They, however, shook the dust off their feet in protest,

52 சீடர்களோ மகிழ்ச்சியினாலும் பரிசுத்த ஆவியானவரினாலும் நிரப்பப்பட்டார்கள்.

and went to Iconium, leaving the disciples full of joy and of the Holy Spirit.
