2 இராஜாக்கள் 13

1 யூதாவின் அரசன் அகசியாவின் மகன் யோவாஸ் அரசாண்ட இருபத்துமூன்றாம் வருடத்தில், யெகூவின் மகன் யோவாகாஸ் சமாரியாவில் இஸ்ரயேலுக்கு அரசனானான். இவன் பதினேழு வருடங்கள் அரசாண்டான்.

In the twenty-third year of Jehoash, the son of Ahaziah, the king of Judah, Jehoahaz, the son of Jehu, reigned over Israel, in Samaria, for seventeen years.

2 இஸ்ரயேலரைப் பாவம் செய்யப்பண்ணின நேபாத்தின் மகன் யெரொபெயாமின் பாவங்களையே இவனும் பின்பற்றி யெகோவாவின் பார்வையில் தீமையைச் செய்தான். அவன் அவைகளைவிட்டு விலகவேயில்லை.

And he did evil before the Lord. And he followed the sins of Jeroboam, the son of Nebat, who caused Israel to sin. And he did not turn aside from these.

3 எனவே யெகோவாவின் கோபம் இஸ்ரயேலுக்கு எதிராகப் பற்றி எரிந்தது. இதனால் யெகோவா அவர்களை நெடுங்காலத்திற்கு சீரிய அரசன் ஆசகேலின் வலிமையின் கீழும், அவனுடைய மகன் பெனாதாத்தின் கீழும் வைத்திருந்தார்.

And the fury of the Lord was enraged against Israel, and he delivered them into the hand of Hazael, the king of Syria, and into the hand of Benhadad, the son of Hazael, during all the days.

4 அதன்பின் யோவாகாஸ் யெகோவாவின் தயவைத் தேடினான். சீரிய அரசன் எவ்வளவாய் இஸ்ரயேலை ஒடுக்கித் துன்புறுத்தினான் என்பதை யெகோவா கண்டபடியால், அவர் அவனுடைய மன்றாட்டைக் கேட்டார்.

But Jehoahaz petitioned the face of the Lord, and the Lord heeded him. For he saw the anguish of Israel, because the king of Syria had oppressed them.

5 யெகோவா இஸ்ரயேலருக்கு ஒரு விடுதலை வீரனைக் கொடுத்தார். இஸ்ரயேலர் சீரியருடைய பிடியிலிருந்து தப்பினார்கள். அதன்பின் இஸ்ரயேலர் முன்பு வாழ்ந்ததுபோல தங்கள் சொந்த வீடுகளில் வாழ்ந்தார்கள்.

And the Lord gave a savior to Israel. And they were freed from the hand of the king of Syria. And the sons of Israel lived in their tabernacles, just as yesterday and the day before.

6 ஆயினும் யெரொபெயாம் இஸ்ரயேலைச் செய்யப்பண்ணின பாவங்களிலிருந்து அவர்கள் திரும்பாமல், அவைகளைத் தொடர்ந்து செய்து கொண்டுவந்தார்கள். அத்துடன் அசேரா விக்கிரக தூண் இன்னும் சமாரியாவில் இருந்தது.

Yet truly, they did not withdraw from the sins of the house of Jeroboam, who had caused Israel to sin. Instead, they walked by them. And there was even a sacred grove still remaining in Samaria.

7 யோவாகாஸின் இராணுவத்தில் ஐம்பது குதிரைவீரர், பத்து தேர்கள், பத்தாயிரம் காலாட்படை வீரரைத் தவிர வேறொன்றும் மீந்திருக்கவில்லை. ஏனெனில் சீரிய அரசன் இஸ்ரயேலில் மீதியானவர்களை அழித்து, சூடுமிதிக்கும் காலத்திலுள்ள புழுதியைப்போலாக்கிப் போட்டான்.

And there was left to Jehoahaz from the people nothing but fifty horsemen, and ten chariots, and ten thousand foot soldiers. For the king of Syria had killed them, and he had reduced them to become like dust on a threshing floor.

8 யோவாகாஸின் ஆட்சியின் மற்ற நிகழ்வுகளும், அவன் செய்தவைகளும், அவனுடைய சாதனைகளும் இஸ்ரயேல் அரசர்களின் வரலாற்றுப் புத்தகத்திலல்லவோ எழுதப்பட்டுள்ளன.

But the rest of the words of Jehoahaz, and all that he did, and his strength, have these not been written in the book of the words of the days of the kings of Israel?

9 யோவாகாஸ் தன் முற்பிதாக்களைப்போல இறந்து, சமாரியாவில் அடக்கம் செய்யப்பட்டான். அவனுக்குப்பின் அவனுடைய மகன் யோவாஸ் அரசனானான்.

And Jehoahaz slept with his fathers, and they buried him in Samaria. And Joash, his son, reigned in his place.

10 யூதாவின் அரசன் யோவாசின் ஆட்சியின் முப்பத்தேழாம் வருடத்தில் யோவாகாஸின் மகன் யோவாஸ் இஸ்ரயேலில் அரசனானான். இவன் சமாரியாவிலிருந்து பதினாறு வருடங்கள் ஆட்சிசெய்தான்.

In the thirty-seventh year of Jehoash, the king of Judah, Joash, the son of Jehoahaz, reigned over Israel, in Samaria, for sixteen years.

11 இவன் யெகோவாவின் பார்வையில் தீமையானவற்றைச் செய்தான். இஸ்ரயேலைப் பாவம் செய்யப்பண்ணின நேபாத்தின் மகன் யெரொபெயாமின் பாவங்களில் எதையும் அவன் விடாமல் அவற்றைத் தொடர்ந்து செய்து வந்தான்.

And he did what is evil in the sight of the Lord. He did not turn aside from all the sins of Jeroboam, the son of Nebat, who caused Israel to sin. Instead, he walked by them.

12 இஸ்ரயேல் அரசன் யோவாஸ் நிகழ்வுகளும், அவன் செய்தவைகளும், அவனுடைய சாதனைகளும் யூதாவின் அரசன் அமத்சியாவுடன் அவன் செய்த யுத்தம் உட்பட அவனுடைய சதிகள் யாவும், இஸ்ரயேல் அரசர்களின் வரலாற்றுப் புத்தகத்திலல்லவோ எழுதப்பட்டுள்ளன.

But the rest of the words of Joash, and all that he did, and his strength, the manner in which he fought against Amaziah, the king of Judah, have these not been written in the book of the words of the days of the kings of Israel?

13 யோவாஸ் தன் முற்பிதாக்களுடன் இளைப்பாறினான். மற்ற இஸ்ரயேல் அரசர்களை அடக்கம்பண்ணும் இடத்தில் சமாரியாவில் அடக்கம் செய்யப்பட்டான். அவனுக்குப்பின் அவனுடைய அரியணையில் யெரொபெயாம் அரசனானான்.

And Joash slept with his fathers. Then Jeroboam sat upon his throne. And Joash was buried in Samaria, with the kings of Israel.

14 இந்த நாட்களில் எலிசா வியாதியினால் துன்பப்பட்டான். இந்த வியாதியே பின் அவனுடைய மரணத்துக்குக் காரணமாயிருந்தது. அப்பொழுது இஸ்ரயேலின் அரசன் யோவாஸ் அவனைப் பார்க்கப்போய், “என் தந்தையே! தந்தையே! இஸ்ரயேலுக்கு தேர்களையும், குதிரைவீரர்களையும்போல் இருந்தவரே!” என்று சொல்லி அவனுக்காக அழுதான்.

Now Elisha was sick of the infirmity from which he also died. And Joash, the king of Israel, descended to him. And he was weeping before him, and saying: “My father, my father! The chariot of Israel and its driver!”

15 எலிசா அவனை நோக்கி, “ஒரு வில்லும் சில அம்புகளும் கொண்டுவா” என்றான் அவன் அப்படியே கொண்டுவந்தான்.

And Elisha said to him, “Bring a bow and arrows.” And when he had brought a bow and arrows to him,

16 எலிசா இஸ்ரயேலின் அரசனிடம், “வில்லை உம்முடைய கைகளில் எடும்” என்றான். அரசன் அவ்வாறே எடுத்தபோது, எலிசா தன் கையை அரசனின் கையில் வைத்தான்.

he said to the king of Israel, “Place your hand upon the bow.” And when he had placed his hand, Elisha placed his own hands over the hands of the king.

17 “கிழக்குப் பக்கமாக ஜன்னலைத் திறந்திடும்” என்றான். அப்படியே அரசன் ஜன்னலைத் திறந்தான். அப்பொழுது எலிசா, “எய்திடும்” என்றான். அவன் அப்படியே செய்தான். எலிசா அவனைப் பார்த்து, “இது யெகோவாவினுடைய வெற்றியின் அம்பு. சீரியரின்மேல் வெற்றியைக் கொண்டுவரும் அம்பு; நீ சீரியரை ஆப்பெக்கில் முழுவதுமாக அழித்துப்போடுவாய்” என்று கூறினான்.

And he said, “Open the window toward the east.” And when he had opened it, Elisha said, “Shoot an arrow.” And he shot it. And Elisha said: “It is the arrow of the salvation of the Lord, and the arrow of salvation against Syria. And you shall strike the Syrians at Aphek, until you consume them.”

18 அதன்பின்பும் எலிசா அரசனை நோக்கி, “அந்த அம்புகளை எடும்” என்றான். அரசன் அவற்றை எடுத்தான். அப்பொழுது எலிசா இஸ்ரயேலின் அரசனிடம், “அவற்றை நிலத்தில் அடியும்” என்றான். அவன் மூன்றுமுறை அடித்து நிறுத்தினான்.

And he said, “Take the arrows.” And when he had taken them, he then said to him, “Strike an arrow against the ground.” And when he had struck three times, and he had stood still,

19 இறைவனுடைய மனிதன் அவன்மேல் கோபங்கொண்டு, “நீர் நிலத்தில் ஐந்துமுறை அல்லது ஆறுமுறை அடித்திருக்க வேண்டும். அவ்வாறு அடித்திருந்தால் சீரியாவை முழுவதும் தோற்கடித்திருப்பீர். இப்போதோ மூன்றுமுறை மாத்திரம் தான் சீரியாவை தோற்கடிப்பீர்” என்றான்.

the man of God became angry against him. And he said: “If you had struck five or six or seven times, you would have struck down Syria, even until it was consumed. But now you will strike it three times.”

20 அதன்பின் எலிசா இறந்து அடக்கம் செய்யப்பட்டான். மோவாபிய கொள்ளையர் ஒவ்வொரு வருடமும் வசந்தகாலத்தில் நாட்டுக்குள் நுழைவது வழக்கமாயிருந்தது.

Then Elisha died, and they buried him. And the robbers from Moab came into the land in the same year.

21 ஒருமுறை இஸ்ரயேலர் ஒரு மனிதனை அடக்கம்பண்ணிக்கொண்டிருக்கையில் திடீரென ஒரு கொள்ளைக் கூட்டத்தைக் கண்டார்கள். உடனே அந்த உடலை எலிசாவின் கல்லறைக்குள் தூக்கி எறிந்தார்கள். அந்த உடல் எலிசாவின் எலும்புகளில் பட்டவுடனே அவன் உயிர்பெற்று தன் கால்களை ஊன்றி எழுந்து நின்றான்.

But certain ones who were burying a man saw the robbers, and they cast the dead body into the sepulcher of Elisha. But when it had touched the bones of Elisha, the man revived, and he stood upon his feet.

22 யோவாகாசின் ஆட்சிக் காலமெல்லாம் சீரிய அரசனாகிய ஆசகேல் இஸ்ரயேலரை ஒடுக்கினான்.

Now Hazael, the king of Syria, afflicted Israel during all the days of Jehoahaz.

23 ஆனால் யெகோவா ஆபிரகாம், ஈசாக்கு, யாக்கோபு ஆகியோருடன் செய்த உடன்படிக்கைக்காக அவர்கள்மேல் கிருபையாயிருந்து அவர்களில் இரக்கமும், கரிசனையும் காட்டினார். இன்றுவரை அவர் தமது முன்னிலையிலிருந்து அவர்களை அழிக்கவோ, அகற்றவோ விருப்பமற்றவராகவே இருக்கிறார்.

But the Lord took pity on them, and he returned to them, because of his covenant, which he had made with Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob. And he was not willing to destroy them, nor to cast them out completely, even to the present time.

24 சீரிய அரசன் ஆசகேல் இறந்தான். அவனுக்குப்பின் அவன் மகன் பெனாதாத் அரசனானான்.

Then Hazael, the king of Syria, died. And Benhadad, his son, reigned in his place.

25 யோவாகாசின் மகன் யோவாஸ் தன் தகப்பன் யோவாகாசிடமிருந்து, ஆசகேலின் மகனான பெனாதாத் கைப்பற்றிய நகரங்களை அவனிடமிருந்து திரும்பவும் பிடித்தான். யோவாஸ் அவனை மூன்றுமுறை தோற்கடித்து இஸ்ரயேல் பட்டணங்களைத் திரும்பப் பிடித்துக்கொண்டான்.

Now Joash, the son of Jehoahaz, by a just war, took the cities from the hand of Benhadad, the son of Hazael, which he had taken from the hand of Jehoahaz, his father. Joash struck him three times, and he restored the cities to Israel.
