1 யெகூவின் ஆட்சியின் ஏழாம் வருடத்தில் யோவாஸ் யூதாவில் அரசனாக வந்தான். இவன் எருசலேமில் நாற்பது வருடங்கள் ஆட்சிசெய்தான். அவனுடைய தாய் பெயெர்செபாவைச் சேர்ந்த சிபியா என்பவள்.
In the seventh year of Jehu, Jehoash reigned. And he reigned for forty years in Jerusalem. The name of his mother was Zebiah from Beersheba.
2 ஆசாரியன் யோய்தா அறிவுறுத்தல்கள் வழங்கிய காலம் முழுவதும், அரசன் யோவாஸ் யெகோவாவின் பார்வையில் சரியானவற்றையே செய்து வந்தான்.
And Jehoash did what was right in the sight of the Lord, during all the days that Jehoiada, the priest, taught him.
3 ஆனால் உயர்ந்த மேடைகளோ அகற்றப்படவில்லை. மக்கள் தொடர்ந்து அந்த மேடைகளில் பலிகளைச் செலுத்தியும், தூபங்காட்டியும் வந்தனர்.
Yet still he did not take away the high places. For the people were still immolating, and burning incense, in the high places.
4 யோவாஸ் ஆசாரியர்களைப் பார்த்து, “குடிமதிப்பின்போது வசூலிக்கப்படும் பணம், தனிப்பட்டோரின் நேர்த்திக்கடன்கள் மூலம் பெறப்படும் பணம், ஆலயத்துக்கு மக்கள் சுயவிருப்பமாகக் கொடுக்கும் பணம் ஆகியவை யெகோவாவினுடைய ஆலயத்துக்கு பரிசுத்த காணிக்கையாகக் கொண்டுவரப்படும். அவற்றையெல்லாம் சேர்த்தெடுங்கள்.
And Jehoash said to the priests: “All of the money for the holy things, which has been brought into the temple of the Lord from those who pass by, which is offered for the price of a soul, and which they bring into the temple of the Lord willingly, from their own free heart:
5 ஒவ்வொரு ஆசாரியனும் பொருளாளர்கள் ஒருவனிடமிருந்து அப்பணத்தைப் பெற்று ஆலயத்தில் என்ன பழுதுகள் காணப்படுகின்றனவோ அவற்றைத் திருத்துவதற்காக அப்பணத்தை நீங்கள் பயன்படுத்த வேண்டும்” எனக் கூறினான்.
let the priests, according to their ranks, take and use it in order to repair the surfaces of the house, wherever they see anything in need of repair.”
6 ஆனால் யோவாஸ் அரசேற்று இருபத்தி மூன்று வருடங்களாகியும் ஆலயத்தில் எவ்வித திருத்த வேலைகளும் ஆசாரியர்களால் செய்யப்படவில்லை.
And yet, even until the twenty-third year of king Jehoash, the priests did not repair the surfaces of the temple.
7 ஆகவே யோவாஸ் அரசன் ஆசாரியனான யோய்தாவையும் மற்ற ஆசாரியர்களையும் வரும்படி அழைத்து அவர்களிடம், “ஆலயத்தை ஏன் பழுதுபார்க்கவில்லை?” என்று கேட்டான். பின்பு அவன், “இனிமேல் உங்கள் பொருளாளர்களிடமிருந்து பணம் வாங்கவேண்டாம். ஆலயத்தைத் திருத்துவதற்காக அந்தப் பணத்தைக் கொடுத்துவிடுங்கள்” என்றான்.
And king Jehoash called the high priest, Jehoiada, and the priests, saying to them: “Why have you not repaired the surfaces of the temple? Therefore, you may no longer accept money according to your ranks. Instead, return it in order that the temple may be repaired.”
8 ஆசாரியர்கள் தாம் இனிமேல் மக்களிடமிருந்து பணத்தைச் சேர்ப்பதில்லை என்றும், ஆலயத்தைப் பழுது பார்ப்பதில்லை என்றும் ஒத்துக்கொண்டனர்.
And so the priests were prohibited from accepting any more money from the people to repair the surfaces of the house.
9 ஆசாரியனான யோய்தா ஒரு பெட்டியை எடுத்து அதன் மூடியில் ஒரு துவாரமிட்டு, அதை யெகோவாவின் ஆலயத்துக்கு மக்கள் வரும் வாசலில் வலதுபக்கத்தில் பலிபீடத்துக்கு அருகே வைத்தான். யெகோவாவின் ஆலயத்துக்குக் கொண்டுவரப்பட்ட எல்லாப் பணத்தையும், ஆலய வாசலைப் பாதுகாத்த ஆசாரியர்கள் அந்தப் பெட்டிக்குள் போட்டனர்.
And the high priest, Jehoiada, took a certain chest, and he opened a hole in the top, and he placed it beside the altar, to the right of those who were entering the house of the Lord. And the priests who kept the doors put all the money in it which was being brought into the temple of the Lord.
10 அந்தப் பெட்டியில் பெருந்தொகை பணம் இருப்பதைக் கண்டபோதெல்லாம், அரசனின் செயலாளரும் தலைமை ஆசாரியனாகவும் வந்து யெகோவாவின் ஆலயத்துக்குக் கொண்டுவரப்பட்ட பணத்தை எண்ணிப் பைகளில் போட்டார்கள்.
And when they saw that there was a great amount of money in the chest, the scribe of the king and the high priest went up and poured it out. And they counted the money that was found in the house of the Lord.
11 இந்தத் தொகை எண்ணி முடிந்ததும் ஆலயப் பணிசெய்ய நியமிக்கப்பட்ட மேற்பார்வையாளரிடம் ஒப்படைக்கப்பட்டது. அவர்கள் அதை யெகோவாவின் ஆலய வேலைசெய்யும் தச்சுவேலை செய்வோருக்கும், கட்டிடவேலை செய்வோருக்கும்,
And they gave it out, by number and measure, to the hands of those who were over the masons of the house of the Lord. And they weighed it out to the carpenters and masons, to those who were working in the house of the Lord
12 கொல்லருக்கும், கல் வெட்டுவோருக்கும் கொடுத்தார்கள். பின் அவர்கள் யெகோவாவின் ஆலயத்தை திருத்துவதற்கான மரங்களையும் செதுக்கப்பட்ட கற்களையும் வாங்கியதோடு, ஆலயத்தைத் திருத்தியமைப்பதற்கு வேண்டிய மற்ற செலவுகளுக்கும் அதைப் பயன்படுத்தினர்.
and restoring the surfaces, and to those who were cutting stones, and buying timber and stones to be cut, so that the repairs to the house of the Lord might be finished: for all that was needed toward the expenses in order to strengthen the house.
13 இப்பணம், வெள்ளிப் பாத்திரங்கள், திரிவெட்டிகள், தெளிக்கும் கிண்ணங்கள், எக்காளங்கள் ஆகியவற்றை செய்வதற்கோ அல்லது யெகோவாவின் ஆலயத்திற்குத் தங்கத்தினாலும், வெள்ளியினாலும் வேறேதும் பொருட்கள் செய்வதற்கோ செலவழிக்கப்படவில்லை.
Yet truly, from the same money, they did not make for the temple of the Lord water pitchers, or small hooks, or censers, or trumpets, or any vessel of gold or silver, from the money that was brought into the temple of the Lord.
14 இப்பணம் யெகோவாவினுடைய ஆலயத்தின் திருத்த வேலைகளைச் செய்த வேலையாட்களுக்கே கொடுக்கப்பட்டது. அவர்கள் அதை ஆலயத்தின் திருத்த வேலைகளுக்கே உபயோகித்தனர்.
For it was given to those who were doing the work, so that the temple of the Lord might be repaired.
15 மேலும் வேலைசெய்வோருக்கு கூலி கொடுக்கும்படி பணம் ஒப்படைக்கப்பட்ட மேற்பார்வையாளர்கள் மிகவும் நேர்மையாய் நடந்துகொண்டதால், அவர்களிடமிருந்து எந்தவித கணக்கு வழக்கும் கேட்கப்படவில்லை.
And they did not ration the money to the men who received it in order to distribute it to the artisans. Instead, they bestowed it with faith.
16 குற்றநிவாரண காணிக்கைப் பணமும், பாவநிவாரண காணிக்கைப் பணமும் யெகோவாவின் ஆலயத்திற்குள் கொண்டுவரப்படவில்லை. அவை ஆசாரியருக்கே உரிமையாக இருந்தன.
Yet truly, the money for offenses and the money for sins, they did not bring into the temple of the Lord, since it was for the priests.
17 இந்த நாட்களில் சீரிய அரசன் ஆசகேல், காத்தை எதிர்த்துத் தாக்கிக் கைப்பற்றினான். அங்கிருந்து எருசலேமைத் தாக்குவற்காகத் திரும்பினான்.
Then Hazael, the king of Syria, ascended and fought against Gath, and he captured it. And he directed his face, so that he might ascend against Jerusalem.
18 ஆனால் யூதாவின் அரசன் யோவாஸ் தன் தந்தையரான யூதாவின் அரசர்களான யோசபாத், யெகோராம், அகசியா என்பவர்களால் அர்ப்பணிக்கப்பட்ட பரிசுத்த பொருட்களையும், தான் அர்ப்பணித்த அன்பளிப்புகளையும் யெகோவாவின் ஆலயத்திலும், அரசனின் அரண்மனையிலும் உள்ள திரவிய களஞ்சியங்களில் இருந்த எல்லாத் தங்கத்தையும் எடுத்து அவற்றை சீரிய அரசன் ஆசகேலுக்கு அனுப்பினான். அதனால் ஆசகேல் எருசலேமிலிருந்து திரும்பிச்சென்றான்.
For this reason, Jehoash, the king of Judah, took all the sanctified things, which Jehoshaphat, and Jehoram, and Ahaziah, his fathers, the kings of Judah, had consecrated and which he himself had offered, and all the silver that could be found in the treasuries of the temple of the Lord and in the palace of the king, and he sent it to Hazael, the king of Syria. And so he withdrew from Jerusalem.
19 யோவாசின் ஆட்சியின் மற்ற நிகழ்வுகளும், அவன் செய்தவை யாவும் யூதா அரசர்களின் வரலாற்றுப் புத்தகத்திலல்லவோ எழுதப்பட்டுள்ளன.
Now the rest of the words of Jehoash, and all that he did, have these not been written in the book of the words of the days of the kings of Judah?
20 யோவாசினுடைய அதிகாரிகள் அவனுக்கு எதிராகச் சதிசெய்து, சில்லாவுக்குப் போகும் வழியிலுள்ள பெத்மில்லோவில் அவனைக் கொலைசெய்தனர்.
Then his servants rose up and conspired among themselves. And they struck down Jehoash, at the house of Millo, on the descent of Silla.
21 சிமியாத்தின் மகன் யோசகாரும், சோமேரின் மகன் யோசபாத்தும் ஆகிய அவனுடைய அதிகாரிகளே அவனைக் கொன்றார்கள். அவர்கள் அவனை அவனுடைய தந்தையர்களோடு தாவீதின் நகரத்தில் அடக்கம்பண்ணினார்கள். அவனுடைய மகனான அமத்சியா அவனுக்குப்பின் அரசனானான்.
For Jozacar, the son of Shimeath, and Jehozabad, the son of Shomer, his servants, struck him, and he died. And they buried him with his fathers in the city of David. And Amaziah, his son, reigned in his place.
