2 நாளாகமம் 18

1 யோசபாத் பெரும் செல்வமும் கனமும் உள்ளவனாய் இருந்தான். அவன் ஆகாபுடன் திருமணத்தின்மூலம் உறவுமுறை கொண்டிருந்தான்.

Now Jehoshaphat had riches and honour in abundance; and he allied himself with Ahab by marriage.

2 சில வருடங்களுக்குப் பின்பு யோசபாத் சமாரியாவுக்கு ஆகாபினிடத்திற்கு போனான்; ஆகாப் அவனுக்கும் அவனுடன் வந்த மக்களுக்குமாக ஆடுமாடுகளை வெட்டினான். ஆகாப் ராமோத் கீலேயாத்தைத் தாக்குவதற்கு யோசபாத்தைத் தூண்டினான்.

And after a lapse of years he went down to Ahab to Samaria. And Ahab killed sheep and oxen for him in abundance, and for the people that were with him, and persuaded him to go up with him to Ramoth-gilead.

3 இஸ்ரயேலின் அரசன் ஆகாப், யூதாவின் அரசன் யோசபாத்திடம், “நீ கீலேயாத்திலுள்ள ராமோத்துக்கு எதிராகப் போக என்னுடன் வருவாயா?” எனக் கேட்டான். அதற்கு யோசபாத், “உம்மைப் போலவே நானும் ஆயத்தமாயிருக்கிறேன். என்னுடைய மக்கள் உம்முடைய மக்களைப் போலவும் இருக்கிறோம். நாங்கள் உன்னுடன் யுத்தத்தில் இணைவோம்” என்றான்.

And Ahab king of Israel said unto Jehoshaphat king of Judah: 'Wilt thou go with me to Ramoth-gilead?' And he answered him: 'I am as thou art, and my people as thy people; and we will be with thee in the war.'

4 மேலும் யோசபாத் இஸ்ரயேல் அரசனிடம், “முதலில் யெகோவாவின் ஆலோசனையைத் தேடுங்கள்” என்று சொன்னான்.

And Jehoshaphat said unto the king of Israel: 'Inquire, I pray thee, at the word of the LORD today.'

5 எனவே இஸ்ரயேலின் அரசன் இறைவாக்கினர்களான நானூறு மனிதரை ஒன்றுதிரட்டி அவர்களிடம், “நாம் கீலேயாத்திலுள்ள ராமோத்திற்கு எதிராக யுத்தத்திற்குப் போகலாமா? அல்லது போகக்கூடாதா?” என்று கேட்டான். அதற்கு அவர்கள், “நீர் போகலாம், இறைவன் அதை அரசனாகிய உமது கையில் கொடுப்பார்” என பதிலளித்தார்கள்.

Then the king of Israel gathered the prophets together, four hundred men, and said unto them: 'Shall we go to Ramoth-gilead to battle, or shall I forbear?' And they said: 'Go up; for God will deliver it into the hand of the king.'

6 ஆனால் யோசபாத், “நாம் விசாரிப்பதற்கு யெகோவாவின் இறைவாக்கினன் யாராவது இங்கே இல்லையா?” என்று கேட்டான்.

But Jehoshaphat said: 'Is there not here besides a prophet of the LORD, that we might inquire of him?'

7 அதற்கு இஸ்ரயேலின் அரசன் ஆகாப் யோசபாத்திடம், “யெகோவாவிடம் விசாரிக்கும்படி இன்னும் ஒருவன் இருக்கிறான். ஆனால் நான் அவனை வெறுக்கிறேன். ஏனெனில் அவன் எப்போதும் என்னைப்பற்றி நன்மையாக அல்ல தீமையாகவே இறைவாக்கு சொல்லுவான். இம்லாவின் மகன் மிகாயாவே அவன்” என்றான். அப்பொழுது யோசபாத், “அரசனாகிய நீர் அவ்விதமாகக் கூறக்கூடாது” என்றான்.

And the king of Israel said unto Jehoshaphat: 'There is yet one man by whom we may inquire of the LORD; but I hate him; for he never prophesieth good concerning me, but always evil; the same is Micaiah the son of Imla.' And Jehoshaphat said: 'Let not the king say so.'

8 எனவே இஸ்ரயேலின் அரசன் ஆகாப் தனது அதிகாரிகளில் ஒருவனை அழைத்து, “இம்லாவின் மகன் மிகாயாவை உடனடியாகக் கூட்டிக்கொண்டு வாருங்கள்” என்றான்.

Then the king of Israel called an officer, and said: 'Fetch quickly Micaiah the son of Imla.'

9 இஸ்ரயேலின் அரசன் ஆகாபும், யூதாவின் அரசன் யோசபாத்தும் அரச உடைகளை அணிந்தவர்களாய் சமாரியாவின் வாசலில், சூடடிக்கும் களத்திலிருந்த அரியணையில் இருந்தார்கள். அப்பொழுது அவர்கள்முன் எல்லா இறைவாக்கினரும் இறைவாக்கு உரைத்துக்கொண்டிருந்தனர்.

Now the king of Israel and Jehoshaphat the king of Judah sat each on his throne, arrayed in their robes, and they sat in a threshing-floor at the entrance of the gate of Samaria; and all the prophets were prophesying before them.

10 அப்பொழுது கெனானாவின் மகன் சிதேக்கியா இரும்பினால் கொம்புகளைச் செய்து அவர்களைப் பார்த்து, “யெகோவா சொல்வது இதுவே: இந்த இரும்புக் கொம்புகளால் சீரியர் முழுவதுமாக அழியும்வரைக்கும் அவர்களைக் குத்திக் கொல்வீர்கள்” என்றான்.

And Zedekiah the son of Chenaanah made him horns of iron, and said: 'Thus saith the LORD: With these shalt thou gore the Arameans, until they be consumed.'

11 மற்ற எல்லா இறைவாக்கினர்களும் அதையே வாக்காக உரைத்து, “கீலேயாத்திலுள்ள ராமோத்தை தாக்கி வெற்றிகொள்ளுங்கள். ஏனெனில் யெகோவா அதை அரசராகிய உமது கையில் தருவார்” என்றார்கள்.

And all the prophets prophesied so, saying: 'Go up to Ramoth-gilead, and prosper; for the LORD will deliver it into the hand of the king.'

12 மிகாயாவை அழைத்துவரப்போன தூதுவன் அவனிடம், “எல்லா இறைவாக்கினர்களும் ஒரேவிதமாகவே வாக்கு உரைத்து அரசனுக்கு வெற்றியையே அறிவிக்கிறார்கள். நீயும் அப்படியே பேசி அரசனுக்குச் சாதகமானதையே சொல்” என்றான்.

And the messenger that went to call Micaiah spoke to him, saying: 'Behold, the words of the prophets declare good to the king with one mouth; let thy word therefore, I pray thee, be like one of theirs, and speak thou good.'

13 ஆனால் மிகாயா அவனிடம், “யெகோவா இருப்பது நிச்சயமெனில் எனது இறைவன் சொல்வதை மட்டுமே நான் சொல்வேன் என்பதும் நிச்சயம்” என்றான்.

And Micaiah said: 'As the LORD liveth, what my God saith, that will I speak.'

14 அவன் வந்து சேர்ந்தபோது ஆகாப் அரசன் அவனிடம், “மிகாயாவே, நாங்கள் கீலேயாத்திலுள்ள ராமோத்திற்கு எதிராக யுத்தத்திற்கு போகலாமா அல்லது போகக்கூடாதா?” என்று கேட்டான். மிகாயா அதற்குப் பதிலாக, “போய்த் தாக்கி வெற்றிபெறுங்கள்; அவர்கள் உங்கள் கையில் ஒப்புக்கொடுக்கப்படுவார்கள்” என்று சொன்னான்.

And when he was come to the king, the king said unto him: 'Micaiah, shall we go to Ramoth-gilead to battle, or shall I forbear?' And he said: 'Go ye up, and prosper; and they shall be delivered into your hand.'

15 அரசன் அவனிடம், “யெகோவாவின் பெயரில் உண்மையைத் தவிர வேறொன்றும் சொல்ல வேண்டாமென எத்தனை தடவை உன்னை நான் ஆணையிட வைக்கவேண்டும்?” எனக் கேட்டான்.

And the king said to him: 'How many times shall I adjure thee that thou speak unto me nothing but the truth in the name of the LORD.'

16 அப்பொழுது மிகாயா, “இஸ்ரயேலர் எல்லோரும் மேய்ப்பன் இல்லாத ஆடுகளைப்போல் மலைகளில் சிதறடிக்கப்பட்டிருப்பதை நான் கண்டேன். ‘இவர்களுக்குத் தலைவன் இல்லை. ஒவ்வொருவரும் தங்கள் வீடுகளுக்கு சமாதானத்துடன் போகட்டும்’ என்று யெகோவா சொன்னார்” என்றான்.

And he said: 'I saw all Israel scattered upon the mountains, as sheep that have no shepherd; and the LORD said: These have no master, let them return every man to his house in peace.'

17 அப்பொழுது இஸ்ரயேலின் அரசன் ஆகாப், யோசபாத் அரசனிடம், “அவன் எப்போதும் எனக்கு நன்மையானதையல்ல தீமையானதையே இறைவாக்காகச் சொல்வான் என்று நான் உனக்குச் சொல்லவில்லையா?” என்றான்.

And the king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat: 'Did I not tell thee that he would not prophesy good concerning me, but evil?'

18 தொடர்ந்து மிகாயா, “ஆகவே, யெகோவாவின் வார்த்தையைக் கேளுங்கள். யெகோவா தமது அரியணையில் அமர்ந்திருப்பதையும், அவரது வலதுபக்கத்திலும், இடது பக்கத்திலும் வானத்தின் எல்லா சேனைகளும் நிற்பதையும் நான் கண்டேன்.

And he said: 'Therefore hear ye the word of the LORD: I saw the LORD sitting upon His throne, and all the host of heaven standing on His right hand and on His left.

19 அப்பொழுது யெகோவா அந்த சேனையிடம், ‘இஸ்ரயேலின் அரசன் ஆகாபை, கீலேயாத்திலுள்ள ராமோத்தைத் தாக்குவதற்கும், அங்கே அவன் சாகும்படி போவதற்கும் அவனைத் தூண்டிவிடுகிறவன் யார்?’ எனக் கேட்டார். “அதற்கு ஒரு ஆவி ஒருவிதமாகவும், இன்னொரு ஆவி இன்னொரு விதமாகவும் வித்தியாசமான யோசனை கூறின.

And the LORD said: who shall entice Ahab king of Israel, that he may go up and fall at Ramoth-gilead? And one spoke saying after this manner, and another saying after that manner.

20 கடைசியாக ஒரு ஆவி முன்னேவந்து யெகோவாவுக்கு முன்பாக நின்று, ‘நான் அவனைத் தூண்டுவேன்’ என்றது. “‘எவ்விதமாக?’ என்று யெகோவா கேட்டார்.

And there came forth the spirit, and stood before the LORD, and said: I will entice him. And the LORD said unto him: Wherewith?

21 “‘நான் போய் அவனுடைய எல்லா இறைவாக்கினர்களின் வாயிலும் பொய்யின் ஆவியாய் இருப்பேன்’ என்றது. “‘போய் அவ்வாறே செய், நீ அவனைத் தூண்டி வெற்றிபெறுவாய்’ என யெகோவா கூறினார்.

And he said: I will go forth, and will be a lying spirit in the mouth of all his prophets. And He said: Thou shalt entice him, and shalt prevail also; go forth, and do so.

22 “அவ்வாறே இப்பொழுதும் யெகோவா உனது இறைவாக்கினர்களின் வாய்களில் பொய்யின் ஆவியை வைத்திருக்கிறார். யெகோவா உனக்குப் பேரழிவையே நியமித்திருக்கிறார்” என்றான்.

Now therefore, behold, the LORD hath put a lying spirit in the mouth of these thy prophets; and the LORD hath spoken evil concerning thee.'

23 அப்பொழுது கெனானாவின் மகன் சிதேக்கியா முன்பாகப் போய் மிகாயாவின் முகத்தில் அறைந்தான். பின் அவனிடம், “யெகோவாவின் ஆவியானவர் என்னைவிட்டு உன்னுடன் பேச வரும்போது, எந்த வழியாக வந்தார்” என்றும் மிகாயாவைக் கேட்டான்.

Then Zedekiah the son of Chenaanah came near, and smote Micaiah upon the check, and said: 'Which way went the spirit of the LORD from me to speak unto thee?'

24 அதற்கு மிகாயா, “நீ ஒளிப்பதற்கு ஒரு உள் அறையினுள் போகும்நாளில் இந்தக் கேள்விக்கு விடை கிடைக்கும்” என்றான்.

And Micaiah said: 'Behold, thou shalt see on that day, when thou shalt go into an inner chamber to hide thyself.'

25 அப்பொழுது இஸ்ரயேலின் அரசனான ஆகாப், “மிகாயாவைப் பிடித்து நகர ஆளுநனான ஆமோனிடமும், அரசனின் மகனான யோவாஸினிடமும் கொண்டுபோய்,

And the king of Israel said: 'Take ye Micaiah; and carry him back unto Amon the governor of the city, and to Joash the king's son;

26 அவர்களிடம், ‘அரசன் கூறுவது இதுவே: நான் பாதுகாப்பாக திரும்பி வரும்வரையும் இவனைச் சிறையில் போடுங்கள். அப்பத்தையும், தண்ணீரையும் தவிர வேறொன்றையும் கொடுக்கக்கூடாது’” என்று கூறினான்.

and say: Thus saith the king: Put this fellow in the prison, and feed him with scant bread and with scant water, until I return in peace.'

27 அதற்கு மிகாயா, “நீ பாதுகாப்பாகத் திரும்பி வந்தால், யெகோவா என்னைக்கொண்டு பேசவில்லை” என்று சொல்லி, “மக்களே, நீங்கள் எல்லோரும் எனது வார்த்தைகளைக் குறித்துக்கொள்ளுங்கள்!” என்றும் சொன்னான்.

And Micaiah said: 'If thou return at all in peace, the LORD hath not spoken by me.' And he said: 'Hear, ye peoples, all of you.'

28 எனவே இஸ்ரயேலின் அரசன் ஆகாபும், யூதாவின் அரசன் யோசபாத்தும் கீலேயாத்திலுள்ள ராமோத்திற்கு போனார்கள்.

So the king of Israel and Jehoshaphat the kind of Judah went up to Ramoth-gilead.

29 இஸ்ரயேலின் அரசன் யோசபாத்திடம், “நான் மாறுவேடம் போட்டு யுத்தத்திற்கு வருகிறேன். நீர் உமது அரச உடைகளை உடுத்திக்கொள்ளும்” என்றான். அப்படியே இஸ்ரயேலின் அரசன் ஆகாப் மாறுவேடம் போட்டு யுத்தத்திற்குப் போனான்.

And the king of Israel said unto Jehoshaphat: 'I will disguise myself, and go into the battle; but put thou on thy robes.' So the king of Israel disguised himself; and they went into the battle.

30 இப்பொழுது சீரிய அரசனோ தனது தேர்ப்படைத் தளபதிகளிடம், “நீங்கள் இஸ்ரயேலின் அரசனைத் தவிர சிறியவனோ, பெரியவனோ வேறு யாருடனும் சண்டையிட வேண்டாம்” எனக் கட்டளையிட்டிருந்தான்.

Now the king of Aram had commanded the captains of his chariots, saying: 'Fight neither with small nor great, save only with the king of Israel.'

31 தேர்ப்படை தளபதிகள் யோசபாத்தைக் கண்டபோது, “நிச்சயமாக இவன்தான் இஸ்ரயேலின் அரசன்” என்று நினைத்து அவனைத் தாக்குவதற்குத் திரும்பினார்கள். ஆனால் யோசபாத் கதறினான். யெகோவா அவனுக்கு உதவி செய்தார். இறைவன் அவர்களை அவனிடமிருந்து விலகிப்போகச் செய்தார்.

And it came to pass, when the captains of the chariots saw Jehoshaphat, that they said: 'It is the king of Israel.' Therefore they turned about to fight against him; but Jehoshaphat cried out, and the LORD helped him; and God moved them to depart from him.

32 தேர்ப்படைத் தளபதிகள் அவன் இஸ்ரயேலின் அரசன் ஆகாப் அல்ல என்பதைக் கண்டபோது, அவனைப் பின்தொடர்வதை அவர்கள் நிறுத்திவிட்டார்கள்.

And it came to pass, when the captains of the chariots saw that it was not the king of Israel, that they turned back from pursuing him.

33 ஆனால் ஒருவன் தனது வில்லை உருவி குறிபார்க்காமல் எய்தபோது, இஸ்ரயேலின் அரசன் ஆகாபின் ஆயுதக் கவசங்களின் இடைவெளி வழியாக அது அவனைத் தாக்கியது. அரசன் ஆகாப் தேரோட்டியிடம், “தேரைத் திருப்பிக்கொண்டு என்னைப் போர்க்களத்துக்கு வெளியே கொண்டுபோ. நான் காயப்பட்டு விட்டேன்” என்றான்.

And a certain man drew his bow at a venture, and smote the king of Israel between the lower armour and the breastplate; wherefore he said to the driver of the chariot: 'Turn thy hand, and carry me out of the host; for I am sore wounded.'

34 அந்த நாள்முழுவதும் கடும் போர் தொடர்ந்து நடந்துகொண்டிருந்தது. அப்பொழுது இஸ்ரயேலின் அரசன் ஆகாப் சாயங்காலம்வரை சீரியரின் பக்கம் பார்த்தபடி, தேரில் சாய்ந்துகொண்டு நின்றான். பின் சூரியன் மறையும் வேளையில் அவன் இறந்தான்.

And the battle increased that day; howbeit the king of Israel stayed himself up in his chariot against the Arameans until the even; and about the time of the going down of the sun he died.
