1 தீமோத்தேயு 5

1 முதியவர்களை கடுமையாகக் கண்டிக்காதே, அவரை உன் தந்தையைப்போல் மதித்து, அறிவுரை கூறு. இளைஞரை உனது சகோதரர்களைப் போலவும்,

Rebuke not an Elder, but exhort him as a father, and the yonger men as brethren,

2 பெண்களில் முதியவர்களைத் தாய்களைப் போலவும், இளம்பெண்களைச் சகோதரிகளைப்போலவும் எண்ணி, முழுமையான தூய்மையோடு அவர்களிடம் நடந்துகொள்.

The elder women as mothers, the yonger as sisters, with all purenesse.

3 உண்மையாகவே தேவையுள்ள விதவைகளுக்கு ஏற்ற ஆதரவைக்கொடு.

Honour widowes, which are widowes in deede.

4 ஆனால் ஒரு விதவைக்குப் பிள்ளைகளோ, பேரப்பிள்ளைகளோ இருந்தால், முதலாவது அவர்கள் தங்களுடைய சொந்தக் குடும்பத்தைப் பராமரிப்பதின் மூலம், இறை பக்தியை நடைமுறைப்படுத்தக் கற்றுக்கொள்ளட்டும்; இப்படித் தங்கள் பெற்றோருக்கும், பெற்றோரின் பெற்றோருக்கும் செய்யவேண்டிய கடமைகளைச் செய்யட்டும். ஏனெனில், இதுவே இறைவனுக்குப் பிரியமாயிருக்கிறது.

But if any widowe haue children or nephewes, let them learne first to shewe godlinesse towarde their owne house, and to recompense their kinred: for that is an honest thing and acceptable before God.

5 ஒரு விதவை உண்மையாகவே தேவையுடையவளாக இருந்து, கைவிடப்பட்டுத் தனிமையாக இருந்தால், அவள் தனது எதிர்பார்ப்பை இறைவனிலேயே வைத்திருக்கிறாள். அவள் இரவும் பகலும் இறைவனிடம் மன்றாடுவதிலும், உதவி கேட்பதிலும் நிலைத்திருப்பாள்.

And shee that is a widowe in deede and left alone, trusteth in God, and continueth in supplications and praiers night and day.

6 ஆனால் ஒரு விதவை உலக இன்பத்தில் வாழ்வதை விரும்பினால், அவள் வாழ்ந்தாலும் நடைபிணமே.

But shee that liueth in pleasure, is dead, while shee liueth.

7 ஒருவர் மேலும் குற்றஞ்சாட்டப்படாதபடி, இந்த அறிவுறுத்தலையும் எல்லா மக்களுக்கும் கொடு.

These things therefore warne them of, that they may be blamelesse.

8 யாராவது தனது உறவினர்களுக்கு, குறிப்பாக தன் சொந்த குடும்பத்தில் உள்ளவர்களுக்கு உதவிசெய்யாவிட்டால், அவன் தனது விசுவாசத்தையே மறுதலிக்கிறான். அவன் விசுவாசம் இல்லாதவனைவிடக் கேவலமானவன்.

If there bee any that prouideth not for his owne, and namely for them of his housholde, hee denieth the faith, and is worse then an infidell.

9 ஒரு விதவை அறுபது வயதிற்கு மேற்பட்டவளாயும், ஒரே கணவனுக்கு உண்மையுள்ள மனைவியாகவும் இருந்திருந்தால் மட்டுமே, அவளை விதவைகளின் பட்டியலில் சேர்த்துக்கொள்ளலாம்.

Let not a widow be taken into the number vnder three score yeere olde, that hath beene the wife of one husband,

10 அத்துடன் அவள் தனது நல்ல செயல்களினால், அதாவது தன் பிள்ளைகளை வளர்த்தெடுத்தல், உபசரிக்கும் பண்பு, பரிசுத்தவான்களின் பாதங்களைக் கழுவுதல், கஷ்டத்தில் இருக்கிறவர்களுக்கு உதவி செய்தல் போன்ற எல்லா விதமான நல்ல செயல்களிலும் தன்னை ஈடுபடுத்தியவளாக, மற்றவர்களால் நற்சாட்சி பெற்றிருக்கவேண்டும்.

And well reported of for good woorkes: if shee haue nourished her children, if shee haue lodged the strangers, if shee haue washed the Saintes feete, if shee haue ministred vnto them which were in aduersitie, if shee were continually giuen vnto euery good woorke.

11 இந்தப் பட்டியலில் இளம் விதவைகளைச் சேர்த்துக்கொள்ளாதே. ஏனெனில் அவர்களுடைய உடல் இச்சைகள், அவர்களை கிறிஸ்துவின் அர்ப்பணிப்பிலிருந்து பிரிக்கும்போது, அவர்கள் திருமணம் செய்துகொள்ள விரும்புவார்கள்.

But refuse the yonger widowes: for when they haue begun to waxe wanton against Christ, they will marrie,

12 இப்படி அவர்கள் முதலில் செய்த வாக்குறுதியை மீறுவதனால், அவர்கள் தங்களுக்கே நியாயத்தீர்ப்பைக் கொண்டுவருவார்கள்.

Hauing damnation, because they haue broken the first faith.

13 அதுத்தவிர அவர்கள் சோம்பல்தனமுள்ளவர்களாகி, வீட்டுக்கு வீடு போகப் பழகிக்கொள்வார்கள். அவர்கள் சோம்பேறிகளாக மட்டுமல்ல, பிறர் காரியங்களில் தலையிடுகிறவர்களாகவும், தேவையற்ற காரியங்களில் தலையிடுகிறவர்களாகவும் இருந்து, வீணான காரியங்களைப் பேசித்திரிவார்கள்.

And likewise also being idle they learne to goe about from house to house: yea, they are not onely ydle, but also pratlers and busibodies, speaking things which are not comely.

14 எனவே இளம் விதவைகள் திருமணம் செய்து, பிள்ளைகளைப் பெற்று, தங்களுடைய குடும்பத்தை நடத்தவேண்டும் என்பதே நான் அவர்களுக்குக் கொடுக்கும் ஆலோசனை. அப்பொழுது இதன் நிமித்தம் பகைவன் அவதூறு பேசுவதற்கு இடமில்லாமல் போகும்.

I will therefore that the yonger women marie, and beare children, and gouerne the house, and giue none occasion to the aduersary to speake euill.

15 ஏனெனில் சிலர் ஏற்கெனவே வழிதவறி சாத்தானின் பின்னே போய்விட்டார்கள்.

For certaine are alreadie turned backe after Satan.

16 ஒரு விசுவாச பெண்ணின் குடும்பத்தில் விதவைகள் இருந்தால், அந்த விசுவாசியே அவர்களைப் பராமரிக்க வேண்டும். திருச்சபையின்மேல் இந்தப் பாரத்தைச் சுமத்தக் கூடாது. அப்பொழுதுதான், உண்மையாகவே தேவையுள்ள விதவைகளுக்கு திருச்சபை உதவிசெய்ய முடியும்.

If any faithfull man, or faithfull woman haue widowes, let them minister vnto them, and let not the Church bee charged, that there may bee sufficient for them that are widowes in deede.

17 திருச்சபையை நன்றாய் நடத்தும் தலைவர்கள் இரட்டிப்பான மதிப்பிற்குரியவர்களாகக் கருதப்பட வேண்டும். விசேஷமாக பிரசங்கம் பண்ணுவதிலும், போதிப்பதிலும் ஈடுபடும் தலைவர்களை பாத்திரராக எண்ணவேண்டும்.

The Elders that rule well, let them be had in double honour, specially they which labour in the worde and doctrine,

18 ஏனெனில், “தானியக்கதிரை போரடிக்கும் எருதின் வாயைக் கட்டவேண்டாம்” என்றும் “வேலையாள் தன் கூலிக்குப் பாத்திரவானாயிருக்கிறான்” என்றும், வேதவசனம் சொல்லுகிறதே.

For the Scripture sayeth, Thou shalt not mousell the mouth of the oxe that treadeth out the corne: and, The labourer is worthie of his wages.

19 ஒரு சபைத்தலைவனுக்கு எதிரான குற்றச்சாட்டு, இரண்டு அல்லது மூன்று பேருடைய சாட்சியங்களுடன் கொண்டுவரப்பட்டாலன்றி, அதை ஏற்றுக்கொள்ளாதே.

Against an Elder receiue none accusation, but vnder two or three witnesses.

20 பாவம் செய்கிற சபைத்தலைவர்களை எல்லோர் முன்னிலையிலும் கடிந்துகொள். அப்பொழுது மற்றவர்களுக்கு அது ஒரு எச்சரிக்கையாயிருக்கும்.

Them that sinne, rebuke openly, that the rest also may feare.

21 இறைவனின் முன்னிலையிலும், கிறிஸ்து இயேசுவின் முன்னிலையிலும், தெரிந்தெடுக்கப்பட்ட இறைத்தூதர்களின் முன்னிலையிலும் நான் உனக்குக் கட்டளையிடுவதாவது: பட்சபாதமாக எதையும் செய்யாமல், நடுநிலையினின்று, இந்த அறிவுறுத்தல்களைக் கைக்கொள்.

I charge thee before God and the Lord Iesus Christ, and the elect Angels, that thou obserue these thinges without preferring one to an other, and doe nothing partially.

22 ஊழியத்தில் அமர்த்துவதற்கு அவசரப்பட்டு ஒருவன்மேலும் கைகளை வைக்காதே. மற்றவர்களுடைய பாவங்களில் பங்குகொள்ளாதே. உன்னைத் தூய்மையுள்ளவனாய் காத்துக்கொள்.

Lay handes suddenly on no man, neither be partaker of other mens sinnes: keepe thy selfe pure.

23 நீ தொடர்ந்து தண்ணீர் மட்டும் குடிப்பதைவிட்டு, உனது வயிற்றின் நலனுக்காகவும், அடிக்கடி உனக்கு வருகிற வருத்தத்திற்காகவும், திராட்சைரசத்தையும் கொஞ்சம் குடி.

Drinke no longer water, but vse a litle wine for thy stomakes sake, and thine often infirmities.

24 சிலரின் பாவங்கள் வெளிப்படையானதாய் இருப்பதால், நியாயத்தீர்ப்பிற்கு, அவர்கள் போகுமுன்பே அவை போய் சேருகின்றன; மற்றவர்களுடைய பாவங்களோ அவர்களுக்குப் பின்னால் வந்து சேருகின்றன.

Some mens sinnes are open before hand, and goe before vnto iudgement: but some mens folowe after.

25 அதுபோலவே, நல்ல செயல்களும் வெளிப்படையாய் இருக்கின்றன. அப்படி வெளிப்படாதவையும் தொடர்ந்து மறைந்திருப்பதில்லை.

Likewise also the good woorkes are manifest before hande, and they that are otherwise, cannot be hid.
