1 தீமோத்தேயு 1
1 நமது இரட்சகராகிய இறைவனுடைய கட்டளையின்படி, நமது எதிர்பார்ப்பாயிருக்கிற கிறிஸ்து இயேசுவின் அப்போஸ்தலனாயிருக்கிற பவுல்,
From Paul, an Apostle of Christ Jesus by the appointment of God, our Saviour, and Christ Jesus, our Hope.
2 விசுவாசத்தில் என் உண்மையான மகன் தீமோத்தேயுவுக்கு எழுதுகிறதாவது: நம்முடைய பிதாவாகிய இறைவனாலும், கர்த்தராகிய கிறிஸ்து இயேசுவினாலும் உங்களுக்குக் கிருபையும், இரக்கமும், சமாதானமும் உண்டாவதாக.
To Timothy, my true Child in the Faith: May God, the Father, and Christ Jesus, our Lord, bless you, and be merciful to you, and give you peace.
3 நான் மக்கெதோனியாவுக்குப் போனபோது உன்னிடம் வற்புறுத்தி வேண்டிக்கொண்டதுபோல, நீ எபேசுவிலே தங்கியிரு. அங்கே சிலர் பொய்யான கோட்பாடுகளைப் போதிக்கிறார்கள். நீ அவர்களுக்கு இனிமேலும் அப்படிச் செய்யாதபடி கட்டளையிடு.
I beg you, as I did when I was on my way into Macedonia, to remain at Ephesus; that you may instruct certain people there not to teach new and strange doctrines,
4 கட்டுக்கதைகளிலும், முடிவில்லாத வம்ச வரலாறுகளிலும் அவர்கள் ஈடுபடுவதை விட்டுவிடும்படி கட்டளையிடு. இவை வாக்குவாதத்தைப் பெருகச்செய்யுமேயல்லாமல், விசுவாசத்தின்மூலம் நடைபெற வேண்டிய இறைவனின் வேலைகளைப் பெருகச்செய்யாது.
nor to devote their attention to legends and interminable genealogies, which tend to give rise to argument rather than to further that divine plan which is revealed in the Faith.
5 இந்தக் கட்டளையின் நோக்கம் அன்பே ஆகும். தூய்மையான இருதயத்திலும், நல்ல மனசாட்சியிலும், உண்மையான விசுவாசத்திலுமிருந்தே அந்த அன்பு உண்டாகிறது.
The object of all instruction is to call forth that love which comes from a pure heart, a clear conscience, and a sincere faith.
6 சிலரோ இவற்றைவிட்டு வழிவிலகிப்போய், பயனற்ற பேச்சில் ஈடுபட்டுள்ளார்கள்.
And it is because they have not aimed at these things that the attention of certain people has been diverted to unprofitable subjects.
7 அவர்கள் மோசேயின் சட்ட ஆசிரியர்களாய் இருக்க விரும்புகிறார்கள். ஆனால் அவர்கள் தாங்கள் எதைப்பற்றிப் பேசுகிறார்கள் என்றும், தாங்கள் மனவுறுதியுடன் வலியுறுத்துவது என்ன என்றும் அறியாதிருக்கிறார்கள்.
They want to be Teachers of the Law, and yet do not understand either the words they use, or the subjects on which they speak so confidently.
8 ஒருவன் மோசேயின் சட்டத்தைச் சரியாகப் பயன்படுத்தினால் அது நல்லது என்று நாம் அறிவோம்.
We know, of course, that the Law is excellent, when used legitimately,
9 மோசேயின் சட்டம் நீதிமான்களுக்காக அல்ல, சட்டத்தை மீறுபவர்களுக்காகவே ஆக்கப்பட்டது என்பதையும், நாம் அறிவோம். கலகக்காரர், பக்தியில்லாதவர், பாவம் செய்பவர், பரிசுத்தம் இல்லாதவர், நம்பிக்கை இல்லாதவர், தங்கள் தகப்பனையும் தாயையும் கொலைசெய்பவர், கொலைகாரர்,
by one who recognises that laws were not made for good men, but for the lawless and disorderly, for irreligious and wicked people, for those who are irreverent and profane, for those who ill-treat their fathers or mothers, for murderers,
10 விபசாரம் செய்வோர், ஆண்புணர்ச்சியில் ஈடுபடுவோர், அடிமை வியாபாரம் செய்வோர், பொய்யர், பொய் சத்தியம் செய்வோர் ஆகியோருக்காகவும், நலமான போதனைக்கு மாறாக எது உள்ளதோ, அவற்றை வெளிப்படுத்தவுமே மோசேயின் சட்டம் ஆக்கப்பட்டிருக்கிறது.
for the immoral, for people guilty of sodomy, for slave-dealers, for liars, for perjurers, and for whatever else is opposed to sound Christian teaching —
11 அந்த நலமான போதனையோ, மகிமையுள்ள இறைவனுடைய மேன்மையான நற்செய்திக்கு ஒத்ததாயிருக்கிறது. இந்த நற்செய்தியை இறைவன் என்னிடம் ஒப்படைத்துள்ளார்.
as is taught in the glorious Good News of the ever-blessed God, with which I was entrusted.
12 எனது கர்த்தர் கிறிஸ்து இயேசுவுக்கு, நான் நன்றி செலுத்துகிறேன். ஏனெனில் அவரே எனக்குப் பெலன் கொடுத்து, என்னை உண்மையுள்ளவனென்று கருதியபடியால், தம் பணியில் என்னை நியமித்தார்.
I am thankful to Christ Jesus, our Lord, who has been my strength, for showing that he thought me worthy of trust by appointing me to his ministry,
13 நான் முன்னொரு காலத்தில் இறைவனை நிந்தனை செய்கிறவனாகவும், சபையைத் துன்புறுத்துகிறவனாகவும், வன்முறை செய்கிற மனிதனாகவும் இருந்தேன். ஆனால் நான் அறியாமையினாலும், அவிசுவாசத்தினாலும் அப்படிச் செய்தபடியினால், எனக்கு இரக்கம் காட்டப்பட்டது.
though I once used to blaspheme, and to persecute, and to insult. Yet mercy was shown me, because I acted in ignorance, while still an unbeliever;
14 நமது கர்த்தரின் கிருபை என்மேல் நிறைவாக ஊற்றப்பட்டது. அத்துடன் கிறிஸ்து இயேசுவிலுள்ள விசுவாசமும், அன்பும்கூட கொடுக்கப்பட்டது.
and the loving-kindness of our Lord was boundless, and filled me with that faith and love which come from union with Christ Jesus.
15 இதோ, இது ஒரு நம்பத்தகுந்த வார்த்தை, எல்லோரும் இதை முழுவதுமாக ஏற்றுக்கொள்ள வேண்டியதாகும்: பாவிகளை இரட்சிக்கவே கிறிஸ்து இயேசு உலகத்திற்கு வந்தார். அவர்களில் மிக மோசமானவன் நானே.
How true the saying is, and worthy of the fullest acceptance, that ‘Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners’! And there is no greater sinner than I!
16 பாவிகளில் மிக மோசமானவனான எனக்கு இந்தக் காரணத்தினாலேயே இரக்கம் காட்டப்பட்டது. ஏனெனில் இனிமேல், கிறிஸ்து இயேசுவில் விசுவாசம் வைப்பதனால் நித்திய வாழ்வைப் பெறுகிறவர்களுக்கு, அவர் அளவற்ற பொறுமையைக் காண்பிப்பார் என்பதன் எடுத்துக்காட்டாய் நான் இருக்கவேண்டும் என்றே என்மேல் முடிவில்லாத பொறுமை காட்டப்பட்டது. Yet mercy was shown me for the express purpose that Christ Jesus might exhibit in my case, beyond all others, his exhaustless patience, as an example for those who were afterwards to believe on him and attain Immortal Life. (aiōnios g166)
17 அழியாமையுடையவரும், பார்வைக்கு காணப்படாதவரும், நித்திய அரசருமாய் இருக்கிற, ஒரே ஒருவரான இறைவனுக்கே என்றென்றும் கனமும், மகிமையும் கொடுக்கப்படுவதாக. ஆமென். (aiōn g165)
To the Immortal King, ever-living, invisible, the one God, be ascribed honour and glory for ever and ever. Amen. (aiōn g165)
18 என் மகனாகிய தீமோத்தேயுவே, முன்பு உன்னைப்பற்றிக் கூறப்பட்ட இறைவாக்கின்படியே, இந்தக் கட்டளையை நான் உனக்குக் கொடுக்கிறேன். நீ இவற்றைக் கைக்கொள்வதனால் நல்ல போராட்டத்தை போராடு.
This, then, is the charge that I lay upon you, Timothy, my Child, in accordance with what was predicted of you — Fight the good fight in the spirit of those predictions,
19 விசுவாசத்தையும் நல்மனசாட்சியையும் பற்றிப்பிடித்துக்கொண்டு, உறுதியுடன் போராடு. சிலரோ நல்ல மனசாட்சியைப் புறக்கணித்ததால், தங்கள் விசுவாசத்தைப் பாறையில் மோதிய கப்பலைப்போல் ஆக்கினார்கள்.
with faith, and with a clear conscience; and it is because they have thrust this aside, that, as regards the Faith, some have wrecked their lives.
20 அவர்களில் இமெனேயும் அலெக்சந்தரும் அப்படிப்பட்டவர்கள். அவர்கள் இறைவனைப்பற்றி நிந்தித்து பேசாதிருக்கும்படி, நான் அவர்களை சாத்தானிடம் ஒப்புக்கொடுத்தேன்.
Hymenaeus and Alexander are instances — the men whom I delivered over to Satan, that they might be taught not to blaspheme.
