1 சாமுவேல் 20
1 அதன்பின் தாவீது ராமாவிலுள்ள நாயோதிலிருந்து தப்பி யோனத்தானிடம் போனான். அவன் யோனத்தானிடம், “நான் செய்தது என்ன? நான் செய்த குற்றம் என்ன? உமது தகப்பன் என்னைக் கொலைசெய்யத் தேடும்படி, நான் அவருக்கு என்ன பிழை செய்தேன்?” என்று கேட்டான்.
And David fled from Naioth in Ramah, and came and said before Jonathan, What have I done? what [is] mine iniquity? and what [is] my sin before thy father, that he seeketh my life?
2 அதற்கு யோனத்தான், “ஒருபோதும் இல்லை. நீ சாகப் போவதில்லை. பார், எனது தகப்பன் சிறிதோ, பெரிதோ எதையும் எனக்குச் சொல்லாமல் செய்யமாட்டார். இதைமட்டும் ஏன் எனக்கு மறைக்கவேண்டும். அப்படியிருக்காது” என்று சொன்னான்.
And he said unto him, God forbid; thou shalt not die: behold, my father will do nothing either great or small, but that he will shew it me: and why should my father hide this thing from me? it [is] not [so].
3 அப்பொழுது தாவீது யோனத்தானிடம், “எனக்கு உனது கண்களில் தயவு கிடைத்திருக்கிறது என்பது உனது தகப்பனுக்கு நன்றாகத் தெரியும். அதனால் அவர், இது யோனத்தானுக்குத் தெரியவந்தால் அவன் மனம் வருந்துவான். அவனுக்குத் தெரியக்கூடாது என்று தனக்குள்ளே எண்ணிக் கொண்டிருக்கிறார். யெகோவா இருப்பதும், நீ வாழ்வதும் நிச்சயம்போல, மரணத்துக்கும், எனக்கும் ஒரு அடி தூரம் மட்டும் இருக்கிறதென்பதும் நிச்சயம்” என்று சத்தியம் செய்து சொன்னான்.
And David sware moreover, and said, Thy father certainly knoweth that I have found grace in thine eyes; and he saith, Let not Jonathan know this, lest he be grieved: but truly [as] the LORD liveth, and [as] thy soul liveth, [there is] but a step between me and death.
4 அப்பொழுது யோனத்தான் தாவீதிடம், “இப்பொழுது நான் உனக்கு என்ன செய்யவேண்டும் என நீ விரும்புகிறாயோ அதை நான் செய்வேன்” என்றான்.
Then said Jonathan unto David, Whatsoever thy soul desireth, I will even do [it] for thee.
5 அதற்குத் தாவீது யோனத்தானை நோக்கி, “நாளைக்கு அமாவாசைப் பண்டிகை. நான் அப்பொழுது அரசனுடன் பந்தியிலிருந்து சாப்பிடவேண்டும். ஆனால் நாளை மறுநாள் மாலைவரைக்கும் வயல்வெளியில் ஒளித்திருப்பதற்கு என்னைப் போகவிடு.
And David said unto Jonathan, Behold, to morrow [is] the new moon, and I should not fail to sit with the king at meat: but let me go, that I may hide myself in the field unto the third [day] at even.
6 உனது தந்தை நான் அங்கு இல்லாததைக் கண்டு விசாரித்தால், நீ அவரிடம், ‘தாவீது தன் முழு வம்சத்தாருக்குமான வருடாந்த பலி செலுத்தப்படுவதற்குத் தன் ஊரான பெத்லெகேமுக்கு விரைவாகப் போக வேண்டுமென்று என்னிடம் ஆவலுடன் அனுமதி கேட்டான்’ என்று சொல்.
If thy father at all miss me, then say, David earnestly asked [leave] of me that he might run to Beth-lehem his city: for [there is] a yearly sacrifice there for all the family.
7 அதற்கு உனது தந்தை, ‘மிக நல்லது’ என்று பதிலளித்தால், உனது அடியவனுக்கு பாதுகாப்பு உண்டு. அவர் கோபமடைந்தால், அவர் எனக்குத் தீமைசெய்யத் தீர்மானித்திருக்கிறார் என்று அப்பொழுது நிச்சமாய் அறிந்துகொள்வாய்.
If he say thus, [It is] well; thy servant shall have peace: but if he be very wroth, [then] be sure that evil is determined by him.
8 உன்னைப் பொறுத்தமட்டில் நீ யெகோவாவுக்குமுன் ஒரு உடன்படிக்கை செய்தபடியால், நீ உன் அடியவனுக்குத் தயவுகாட்ட வேண்டும். நான் குற்றவாளியானால் நீயே என்னைக் கொன்றுவிடு. ஏன் உனது தகப்பனிடம் என்னைக் கையளிக்க வேண்டும்” என்று கேட்டான்.
Therefore thou shalt deal kindly with thy servant; for thou hast brought thy servant into a covenant of the LORD with thee: notwithstanding, if there be in me iniquity, slay me thyself; for why shouldest thou bring me to thy father?
9 அதற்கு யோனத்தான் தாவீதிடம், “ஒருபோதும் இல்லை. எனது தகப்பன் உனக்குத் தீமைசெய்ய தீர்மானித்திருக்கிறாரென்பதை நான் சிறிதளவேனும் அறிந்திருந்தால் அதை உனக்குச் சொல்லாமல் இருப்பேனோ?” என்று கேட்டான்.
And Jonathan said, Far be it from thee: for if I knew certainly that evil were determined by my father to come upon thee, then would not I tell it thee?
10 அதற்குத் தாவீது, “உனது தகப்பன் உனக்குக் கடுமையாகப் பதிலளித்தால், அதை யார் எனக்குச் சொல்வார்கள்?” என்று கேட்டான்.
Then said David to Jonathan, Who shall tell me? or what [if] thy father answer thee roughly?
11 அப்பொழுது யோனத்தான் தாவீதிடம், “நாங்கள் வெளியே வயலுக்குப் போவோம் வா” என்றான். அவர்கள் ஒன்றாய்ப் போனார்கள்.
And Jonathan said unto David, Come, and let us go out into the field. And they went out both of them into the field.
12 அப்பொழுது யோனத்தான் தாவீதிடம், “இஸ்ரயேலின் இறைவனாகிய யெகோவா சாட்சியாக நான் சொல்வது என்னவென்றால், நாளை மறுநாள் இதே நேரத்தில் எனது தந்தையின் மனதை அறிந்துகொள்வேன். அவர் உன்மேல் நல்ல மனதுள்ளவராயிருந்தால், நான் உனக்கு ஆளனுப்பி தெரியப்படுத்த மாட்டேனா?
And Jonathan said unto David, O LORD God of Israel, when I have sounded my father about to morrow any time, [or] the third [day], and, behold, [if there be] good toward David, and I then send not unto thee, and shew it thee;
13 எனது தகப்பனார் உனக்குத் தீமைசெய்ய எண்ணம் கொண்டிருந்தும் அதை நான் உனக்கு அறிவித்து, உன்னை வெளியே பாதுகாப்பாக அனுப்பாவிட்டால், யெகோவா எவ்வளவு கடுமையாகவும் என்னைத் தண்டிக்கட்டும். யெகோவா என்னுடைய தகப்பனோடு இருந்ததுபோல உன்னோடும் இருப்பாராக.
The LORD do so and much more to Jonathan: but if it please my father [to do] thee evil, then I will shew it thee, and send thee away, that thou mayest go in peace: and the LORD be with thee, as he hath been with my father.
14 நான் உயிரோடு இருக்கும்வரைக்கும், நான் கொல்லப்படாதபடி, யெகோவாவின் குன்றாத தயவைப் போல் எனக்கு நீயும் தயவுகாட்டுவாயாக.
And thou shalt not only while yet I live shew me the kindness of the LORD, that I die not:
15 நீ ஒருபோதும் என் குடும்பத்தினரிடமுள்ள உன்னுடைய தயவை எடுத்துப் போடாதே. தாவீதின் பகைவர்கள் அனைவரையும் பூமியிலிருந்து யெகோவா அழித்தாலும்கூட, நீ அப்படிச் செய்யாதே” என்று சொன்னான்.
But [also] thou shalt not cut off thy kindness from my house for ever: no, not when the LORD hath cut off the enemies of David every one from the face of the earth.
16 இவ்வாறு யோனத்தான் தாவீதின் குடும்பத்தோடு உடன்படிக்கை செய்து, “யெகோவா தாவீதின் பகைவர்களிடமிருந்து கணக்குக் கேட்பாராக” என்றான்.
So Jonathan made [a covenant] with the house of David, [saying], Let the LORD even require [it] at the hand of David’s enemies.
17 யோனத்தான் தன்னைப்போல தாவீதிலும் அன்பாயிருந்தான். அவனிடம் தனக்குள்ள அந்த அன்பின் நிமித்தம், தாவீதைத் திரும்பவும் அந்த ஆணையை உறுதிப்படுத்தும்படி செய்தான்.
And Jonathan caused David to swear again, because he loved him: for he loved him as he loved his own soul.
18 அதன்பின் யோனத்தான் தாவீதிடம், “நாளைக்கு அமாவாசைப் பண்டிகை. பந்தியில் உன் இடம் வெறுமையாயிருப்பதால் நீ அங்கு இல்லாதது தெரியவரும்.
Then Jonathan said to David, To morrow [is] the new moon: and thou shalt be missed, because thy seat will be empty.
19 பிரச்சனை தொடங்கும்போது, நாளை மறுதினம் மாலை நேரத்தில், நீ மறைந்திருந்த இடத்திற்குப் போய் அங்கே ஏசேல் என்னும் கல்லருகில் காத்திரு.
And [when] thou hast stayed three days, [then] thou shalt go down quickly, and come to the place where thou didst hide thyself when the business was [in hand], and shalt remain by the stone Ezel.
20 அப்பொழுது நான் இலக்கை நோக்கி எய்துவது போல் மூன்று அம்புகளை அந்த கல்லின் அருகே எய்வேன்.
And I will shoot three arrows on the side [thereof], as though I shot at a mark.
21 பின் நான் ஒரு சிறுவனை அனுப்பி, ‘நீ போய் அம்புகளை எடுத்து வா’ என்று சொல்வேன். நான் அவனிடம், ‘பார், அம்புகள் உனக்கு இந்தப் பக்கத்தில் இருக்கின்றன; அவற்றை இங்கே கொண்டுவா,’ என்று சொன்னால் நீ என்னிடம் வா. ஏனெனில் யெகோவா இருப்பது நிச்சயமெனில், நீ பாதுகாப்பாய் இருக்கிறாய் என்பதும், உனக்கு ஆபத்து இல்லை என்பதும் நிச்சயம்.
And, behold, I will send a lad, [saying], Go, find out the arrows. If I expressly say unto the lad, Behold, the arrows [are] on this side of thee, take them; then come thou: for [there is] peace to thee, and no hurt; [as] the LORD liveth.
22 ஆனால் நான் சிறுவனிடம், ‘அம்புகள் உனக்கு அப்பால் இருக்கின்றன’ என்று சொன்னால் நீ போய்விடு. ஏனெனில் யெகோவா உன்னை வெளியே அனுப்பியிருக்கிறார்.
But if I say thus unto the young man, Behold, the arrows [are] beyond thee; go thy way: for the LORD hath sent thee away.
23 இப்பொழுது நீயும் நானும் பேசிக்கொண்டவற்றைப் பற்றி, யெகோவாவே உனக்கும் எனக்கும் இடையில் எப்பொழுதும் சாட்சி என்பதை நினைத்துக்கொள்” என்றான்.
And [as touching] the matter which thou and I have spoken of, behold, the LORD [be] between thee and me for ever.
24 எனவே தாவீது வயல்வெளியில் ஒளிந்திருந்தான். அமாவாசைப் பண்டிகையன்று சாப்பிடுவதற்கு சவுல் அரசன் பந்தியில் உட்கார்ந்தான்.
So David hid himself in the field: and when the new moon was come, the king sat him down to eat meat.
25 அரசன் சுவர் அருகேயிருந்த தனது வழக்கமான இடத்தில் உட்கார்ந்தான். யோனத்தான் சவுலுக்கு எதிரேயும், அப்னேர் சவுலின் பக்கத்திலும் உட்கார்ந்திருந்தார்கள். தாவீதின் இடமோ வெறுமையாய் இருந்தது.
And the king sat upon his seat, as at other times, [even] upon a seat by the wall: and Jonathan arose, and Abner sat by Saul’s side, and David’s place was empty.
26 “தாவீதுக்கு சம்பிரதாயப்படி அவனை அசுத்தப்படுத்தக்கூடிய ஏதோ ஒன்று நடந்திருக்க வேண்டும். நிச்சயமாக அவன் அசுத்தமாயிருக்கிறான்” என்று சவுல் எண்ணி அன்று ஒன்றுமே சொல்லவில்லை.
Nevertheless Saul spake not any thing that day: for he thought, Something hath befallen him, he [is] not clean; surely he [is] not clean.
27 ஆனால் மறுநாளான மாதத்தின் இரண்டாவது நாளும் தாவீதின் இடம் வெறுமையாய் இருந்தது. அப்பொழுது சவுல் தன் மகன் யோனத்தானிடம், “ஈசாயின் மகன் நேற்றும், இன்றும் சாப்பிட ஏன் பந்திக்கு வரவில்லை” என்று கேட்டான்.
And it came to pass on the morrow, [which was] the second [day] of the month, that David’s place was empty: and Saul said unto Jonathan his son, Wherefore cometh not the son of Jesse to meat, neither yesterday, nor to day?
28 அதற்கு யோனத்தான் சவுலிடம், “பெத்லெகேம் போய் வருவதற்குத் தனக்கு விடை தரும்படி என்னை தாவீது வருத்திக் கேட்டான்.
And Jonathan answered Saul, David earnestly asked [leave] of me [to go] to Beth-lehem:
29 அவன் என்னிடம், ‘எனது குடும்பத்தினர் பட்டணத்திலே பலிசெலுத்தப் போகிறார்கள். என்னுடைய சகோதரன் என்னை அங்கே வரும்படி கட்டளையிட்டிருக்கிறார். உம்முடைய கண்களிலே எனக்குத் தயவு கிடைக்குமானால் நான் போய் என் சகோதரரைப் பார்ப்பதற்கு எனக்கு விடை தாரும்’ என்று கேட்டான். அதனால்தான் அவன் அரச பந்திக்கு வரவில்லை” என்றான்.
And he said, Let me go, I pray thee; for our family hath a sacrifice in the city; and my brother, he hath commanded me [to be there: ] and now, if I have found favour in thine eyes, let me get away, I pray thee, and see my brethren. Therefore he cometh not unto the king’s table.
30 அதைக்கேட்ட சவுலுக்கு யோனத்தான்மேல் கோபம் மூண்டது. அவனிடம், “கேடுகெட்ட உண்மையற்றவளின் மகனே! நீ உன் வெட்கத்திற்கும் உன்னைப் பெற்ற தாயின் வெட்கத்திற்கும் ஏற்றபடியே, ஈசாயின் மகனோடு கூட்டுச்சேர்ந்திருக்கிறாய்.
Then Saul’s anger was kindled against Jonathan, and he said unto him, Thou son of the perverse rebellious [woman], do not I know that thou hast chosen the son of Jesse to thine own confusion, and unto the confusion of thy mother’s nakedness?
31 ஈசாயின் மகன் இந்த பூமியின்மேல் உயிரோடிருக்கும் மட்டும், நீயோ உன் அரசாட்சியோ நிலைநிறுத்தப்படாது. ஆகையால் இப்பொழுது ஆள் அனுப்பு. அவனை என்னிடம் கொண்டுவா. அவன் சாகவேண்டும்” என்றான்.
For as long as the son of Jesse liveth upon the ground, thou shalt not be established, nor thy kingdom. Wherefore now send and fetch him unto me, for he shall surely die.
32 அதற்கு யோனத்தான் தன் தகப்பனிடம், “அவன் ஏன் சாகவேண்டும்? அவன் என்ன குற்றம் செய்தான்?” என்று கேட்டான்.
And Jonathan answered Saul his father, and said unto him, Wherefore shall he be slain? what hath he done?
33 இதனால் சவுல் யோனத்தானைக் கொல்லும்படி தன் ஈட்டியை அவன்மேல் எறிந்தான். அப்பொழுது தாவீதைக் கொல்வதற்குத் தன் தகப்பன் எண்ணங்கொண்டிருக்கிறார் என்று யோனத்தான் அறிந்துகொண்டான்.
And Saul cast a javelin at him to smite him: whereby Jonathan knew that it was determined of his father to slay David.
34 எனவே யோனத்தான் கடுங்கோபத்துடன் பந்தியை விட்டு எழுந்தான். தனது தகப்பன், தாவீதை இவ்வளவு வெட்கக்கேடாக நடத்தியபடியால் மனம்வருந்தி, பண்டிகையில் இரண்டாம் நாளிலே அவன் சாப்பிடவில்லை.
So Jonathan arose from the table in fierce anger, and did eat no meat the second day of the month: for he was grieved for David, because his father had done him shame.
35 மறுநாள் காலையில் யோனத்தான் தாவீதைச் சந்திப்பதற்காக வயலுக்குப் போனான். அவனுடன் ஒரு சிறுவன் இருந்தான்.
And it came to pass in the morning, that Jonathan went out into the field at the time appointed with David, and a little lad with him.
36 யோனத்தான் அந்த சிறுவனிடம், “நான் எய்யும் அம்புகளை நீ ஓடிப்போய்த் தேடி எடுத்து வா” என்று சொன்னான். அச்சிறுவன் ஓடும்போது அவனுக்கு அப்பாலே போகும்படி ஒரு அம்பை எய்தான்.
And he said unto his lad, Run, find out now the arrows which I shoot. [And] as the lad ran, he shot an arrow beyond him.
37 யோனத்தான் எய்த அம்பு விழுந்த இடத்திற்குச் சிறுவன் ஓடியபோது யோனத்தான் சத்தமிட்டு அவனைக் கூப்பிட்டு, “அம்பு உனக்கு அப்பால் இருக்கிறதல்லவா” என்றான்.
And when the lad was come to the place of the arrow which Jonathan had shot, Jonathan cried after the lad, and said, [Is] not the arrow beyond thee?
38 பின்பும் யோனத்தான் சத்தமிட்டு, “விரைந்து ஓடிப்போ; வேகமாய்ப் போ; நில்லாதே” என்றான். யோனத்தானுடன் வந்த சிறுவன் அம்புகளைப் பொறுக்கிக்கொண்டு அவனிடம் வந்தான்.
And Jonathan cried after the lad, Make speed, haste, stay not. And Jonathan’s lad gathered up the arrows, and came to his master.
39 சிறுவனுக்கோ ஒன்றுமே விளங்கவில்லை. யோனத்தானுக்கும் தாவீதுக்கும் மட்டுமே இது தெரிந்திருந்தது.
But the lad knew not any thing: only Jonathan and David knew the matter.
40 அதன்பின் யோனத்தான் தன் ஆயுதங்களையெல்லாம் சிறுவனிடம் கொடுத்து அவனிடம், “இவற்றையெல்லாம் திரும்பவும் பட்டணத்துக்குக் கொண்டுபோ” என்று சொல்லி அனுப்பினான்.
And Jonathan gave his artillery unto his lad, and said unto him, Go, carry [them] to the city.
41 சிறுவன் போனவுடனே தாவீது தான் மறைந்திருந்த கல்லின் தெற்குப் பக்கத்திலிருந்து வெளியே வந்து, முகங்குப்புற விழுந்து மூன்றுமுறை யோனத்தானை வணங்கினான். அவர்கள் ஒருவரையொருவர் முத்தமிட்டு அழுதார்கள். தாவீதே அதிகமாக அழுதான்.
[And] as soon as the lad was gone, David arose out of [a place] toward the south, and fell on his face to the ground, and bowed himself three times: and they kissed one another, and wept one with another, until David exceeded.
42 அப்பொழுது யோனத்தான் தாவீதிடம், “சமாதானத்தோடே போ, யெகோவாவின் பெயரில் நாம் இருவரும் ஒருவரோடொருவர் நட்பை உறுதிப்படுத்திக் கொண்டோம். யெகோவா உனக்கும் எனக்கும் இடையிலும், என் சந்ததிக்கும் உன் சந்ததிக்கும் இடையிலும் என்றென்றைக்கும் சாட்சியாக இருக்கிறார் என்றும் சொன்னோம்” என்றான். பின்பு தாவீது அவ்விடம்விட்டுப் போனான். யோனத்தான் பட்டணத்துக்குத் திரும்பிப்போனான்.
And Jonathan said to David, Go in peace, forasmuch as we have sworn both of us in the name of the LORD, saying, The LORD be between me and thee, and between my seed and thy seed for ever. And he arose and departed: and Jonathan went into the city.
