1 சாமுவேல் 16
1 யெகோவா சாமுயேலிடம், “இஸ்ரயேலர்மேல் அரசனாயிராதபடி நான் புறக்கணித்த சவுலுக்காக நீ எவ்வளவு காலம் துக்கப்படுவாய். கொம்பில் எண்ணெய் நிரப்பிக்கொண்டு புறப்பட்டு வா. நான் உன்னைப் பெத்லெகேமியனான ஈசாயிடம் அனுப்பப்போகிறேன். அவனுடைய மகன்களில் ஒருவனை அரசனாக நான் தெரிவுசெய்திருக்கிறேன்” என்றார்.
And Jehovah said to Samuel, How long wilt thou mourn for Saul, seeing I have rejected him from reigning over Israel? fill thy horn with oil, and go, I will send thee to Jesse the Bethlehemite; for I have provided me a king among his sons.
2 அதற்கு சாமுயேல், “நான் எப்படிப்போவேன்? சவுல் இதைக் கேள்விப்பட்டால் என்னைக் கொன்றுவிடுவானே?” என்றான். அதற்கு யெகோவா, “நான் யெகோவாவுக்குப் பலியிட வந்தேன் என்று சொல்லி இளம்பசுவை ஒன்றை உன்னுடன் கொண்டுபோ.
And Samuel said, How shall I go? if Saul hear [it], he will kill me. And Jehovah said, Take a heifer with thee, and say, I am come to sacrifice to Jehovah.
3 அவ்வாறு பலி செலுத்தும்போது நீ ஈசாவுக்கு அழைப்பு கொடு. அப்பொழுது நீ செய்யவேண்டியதை உனக்கு நான் காண்பிப்பேன். நான் குறிப்பிடுபவனை நீ அபிஷேகம் செய்யவேண்டும்” என்றார்.
And call Jesse to the sacrifice, and I will tell thee what thou shalt do; and thou shalt anoint unto me him whom I name unto thee.
4 யெகோவா சொன்னபடியே சாமுயேல் செய்தான். பின்பு சாமுயேல் பெத்லெகேமுக்கு வந்தபோது அப்பட்டணத்தின் முதியவர்கள் நடுக்கத்துடன் அவனைச் சந்திக்க வந்தார்கள். “நீர் சமாதானத்துடன் தான் வருகிறீரா?” என்று அவர்கள் கேட்டார்கள்.
And Samuel did what Jehovah said, and came to Bethlehem. And the elders of the city came trembling to meet him, and said, Dost thou come peaceably?
5 அதற்குச் சாமுயேல், “ஆம் சமாதானத்துடன் தான் வந்திருக்கிறேன். நான் யெகோவாவுக்குப் பலிசெலுத்த வந்திருக்கிறேன். நீங்களும் உங்களைப் பரிசுத்தப்படுத்திக் கொண்டு என்னுடன் பலிசெலுத்த வாருங்கள்” என்றான். பின்பு ஈசாயையும் அவன் மகன்களையும் பரிசுத்தப்படுத்தி அவர்களையும் பலிக்கு அழைத்தான்.
And he said, Peaceably: I am come to sacrifice to Jehovah. Hallow yourselves, and come with me to the sacrifice. And he hallowed Jesse and his sons, and called them to the sacrifice.
6 அவர்கள் அங்கே வந்தபோது, சாமுயேல் எலியாபைக் கண்டவுடன், “உண்மையாகவே யெகோவாவினால் அபிஷேகம் செய்யப்பட்டவன் என்முன் நிற்கிறான்” என நினைத்தான்.
And it came to pass when they were come, that he looked on Eliab, and said, Surely Jehovah's anointed is before him.
7 ஆனால் யெகோவா சாமுயேலிடம், “இவனுடைய தோற்றத்தையும், உயரத்தையும் கருத்தில் கொள்ள வேண்டாம். நான் இவனைப் புறக்கணித்து விட்டேன். ஏனெனில் மனிதர் பார்ப்பதைப் போல் யெகோவா பார்ப்பதில்லை. மனிதன் வெளித்தோற்றத்தைப் பார்ப்பான். யெகோவாவோ இருதயத்தைப் பார்க்கிறார்” என்று சொன்னார்.
But Jehovah said to Samuel, Look not on his countenance, or on the height of his stature; because I have rejected him; for it is not as man seeth; for man looketh upon the outward appearance, but Jehovah looketh upon the heart.
8 அப்பொழுது ஈசாய் அபினதாபை அழைத்துச் சாமுயேலுக்கு முன்னால் போகச்செய்தான். சாமுயேலோ, “யெகோவா இவனைத் தெரிந்துகொள்ளவில்லை” என்றான்.
Then Jesse called Abinadab, and made him pass before Samuel. And he said, Neither has Jehovah chosen this one.
9 அப்பொழுது ஈசாய் சம்மாவைச் சாமுயேல் முன்னால் போகும்படி செய்தான். “இவனையும் யெகோவா தெரிந்துகொள்ளவில்லை” என்று சாமுயேல் சொன்னான்.
Then Jesse made Shammah pass by. And he said, Neither has Jehovah chosen this one.
10 இவ்வாறு ஈசாய் தன் ஏழு மகன்களையும் சாமுயேல் முன் கொண்டுவந்தான். ஆனால், “இவர்களை யெகோவா தெரிந்துகொள்ளவில்லை” என்று சாமுயேல் சொன்னான்.
And Jesse made seven of his sons pass before Samuel. And Samuel said to Jesse, Jehovah has not chosen these.
11 மேலும் சாமுயேல் ஈசாயிடம், “உன்னுடைய மகன்கள் இவர்கள் மட்டும்தானா?” என்று கேட்டான். அதற்கு அவன், “இன்னும் எல்லோருக்கும் இளையமகன் ஒருவன் இருக்கிறான். அவன் இப்பொழுது செம்மறியாடுகளை மேய்த்துக் கொண்டிருக்கிறான்” என்றான். அப்பொழுது சாமுயேல் ஈசாயிடம், “அவனை அழைத்துவர ஆளனுப்பு. அவன் இங்கு வருமட்டும் நாம் பந்தியிருக்க மாட்டோம்” என்றான்.
And Samuel said to Jesse, Are these all the young men? And he said, There is yet the youngest remaining, and behold, he is feeding the sheep. And Samuel said to Jesse, Send and fetch him; for we will not sit at table till he come hither.
12 எனவே ஈசாய் ஆளனுப்பி அவனை வரவழைத்தான். அவன் சிவந்த உடலும், அழகிய முகமும், வசீகரத் தோற்றமும் உடையவனாயிருந்தான். அப்பொழுது யெகோவா சாமுயேலிடம், “நான் சொன்னவன் இவன்தான். நீ எழுந்து இவனை அபிஷேகம் செய்” என்றார்.
And he sent and brought him in. And he was ruddy, and besides of a lovely countenance and beautiful appearance. And Jehovah said, Arise, anoint him; for this is he.
13 உடனே சாமுயேல் எண்ணெய்க் கொம்பை எடுத்து அவன் சகோதரர் முன்னிலையில் அவனை அபிஷேகம் பண்ணினான். அந்த நாள் தொடக்கம் யெகோவாவின் ஆவியானவர் தாவீதின்மேல் வல்லமையுடன் இறங்கியிருந்தார். அதன்பின் சாமுயேல் எழுந்து ராமாவுக்கு திரும்பிப்போனான்.
And Samuel took the horn of oil, and anointed him in the midst of his brethren. And the Spirit of Jehovah came upon David from that day forward. And Samuel rose up, and went to Ramah.
14 யெகோவாவின் ஆவியானவர் சவுலை விட்டு நீங்கிப்போனார். யெகோவாவினால் அனுப்பப்பட்ட ஒரு பொல்லாத ஆவி அவனை வதைத்தது.
And the Spirit of Jehovah departed from Saul, and an evil spirit from Jehovah troubled him.
15 சவுலின் ஏவலாட்கள் அவனிடம், “இறைவன் அனுப்பிய ஒரு பொல்லாத ஆவி உம்மைத் துன்பப்படுத்துகிறது.
And Saul's servants said to him, Behold now, an evil spirit from God troubles thee.
16 யாழ் வாசிக்கக்கூடிய ஒருவனைத் தேடிக் கொண்டுவரும்படி உமது வேலையாட்களிடம் ஆண்டவன் கட்டளையிடட்டும். இறைவனால் அனுப்பப்பட்ட பொல்லாத ஆவி உம்மேல் வரும்போது அவன் தன் கையால் யாழை வாசித்தால் நீர் சுகமடையலாம்” என்று சொன்னார்கள்.
Let our lord now speak; thy servants are before thee: they shall seek out a man, a skilful player on a harp; and it shall come to pass, when the evil spirit from God is upon thee, that he shall play with his hand, and thou shalt be well.
17 சவுல் தன் வேலையாட்களிடம், “நீங்கள் போய் நன்றாய் யாழ் வாசிக்கும் ஒருவனைத் தேடி என்னிடம் கொண்டுவாருங்கள்” என்றான்.
And Saul said to his servants, Provide me now a man that can play well, and bring him to me.
18 அப்பொழுது வேலையாட்களில் ஒருவன், “பெத்லெகேமியனான ஈசாயின் மகன் ஒருவனை நான் கண்டிருக்கிறேன். அவன் யாழ் வாசிப்பதில் சிறந்தவன். அவன் வலிமைமிக்க போர்வீரன்; பேச்சில் சமர்த்தன். வசீகர தோற்றமுடையவன். யெகோவா அவனோடுகூட இருக்கிறார்” என்றான்.
And one of the young men answered and said, Behold, I have seen a son of Jesse the Bethlehemite, who is skilled in playing, and he is a valiant man and a man of war, and skilled in speech, and of good presence, and Jehovah is with him.
19 எனவே சவுல் ஈசாயிடம் தூதுவரை அனுப்பி, “செம்மறியாடுகளை மேய்த்துக் கொண்டிருக்கும் உன் மகன் தாவீதை என்னிடம் அனுப்பு” என்று சொல்லச் சொன்னான்.
Then Saul sent messengers to Jesse and said, Send me David thy son, who is with the sheep.
20 அப்பொழுது ஈசாய் அப்பங்களையும், ஒரு தோற்குடுவையில் திராட்சை இரசத்தையும், ஒரு வெள்ளாட்டுக் குட்டியையும், ஒரு கழுதையின்மேல் ஏற்றி தாவீதின் மூலமாய்ச் சவுலுக்கு அனுப்பினான்.
And Jesse took an ass with bread, and a flask of wine, and a kid, and sent [them] by David his son to Saul.
21 அவ்வாறே தாவீது சவுலிடம் வந்து அவனுடைய வேலையில் சேர்ந்தான். சவுல் அவனை அதிகம் விரும்பினான். தாவீது அவனுடைய ஆயுதம் சுமப்பவர்களில் ஒருவனானான்.
And David came to Saul, and stood before him; and he loved him greatly; and he became his armour-bearer.
22 சவுல் ஈசாயிடம் ஆளனுப்பி, “தாவீதை நான் விரும்புகிறேன். அதனால் அவன் என் பணியில் இருக்கும்படி அவனை அனுமதி” என்று சொல்லி அனுப்பினான்.
And Saul sent to Jesse, saying, Let David, I pray thee, stand before me; for he has found favour in my sight.
23 அதன்பின் இறைவனால் அனுப்பப்படும் பொல்லாத ஆவி சவுலின்மேல் வரும்போதெல்லாம் தாவீது தன் யாழை வாசிப்பான். அப்போது சவுலுக்கு விடுதலை கிடைக்கும். அவன் சுகமடைவான். அந்த பொல்லாத ஆவி அவனைவிட்டு நீங்கிவிடும்.
And it came to pass, when the [evil] spirit from God was upon Saul, that David took the harp, and played with his hand; and Saul was refreshed, and was well, and the evil spirit departed from him.
